Remember that dreary restaurant you went to growing up, that was quirky but that the food was decent? That's the Cabin. Located right off the Sprain, it's in a good location and parking is decent. It looks how it sounds, both inside and out. Nice big bar, a pizza oven front and center, and of course the fireplace. Love all of the wood. Service was good however they were empty so perhaps grading on a curve there. I got the open faced steak sandwich. Pretty formidable portion with plenty of steak, however in hindsight I should've ordered it medium. Got it with bleu cheese and there was a crapton of it. Onions/mushrooms were good. No chance in hell of picking the thing up, yet very enjoyable. My son liked his chicken fingers, mostly just eating the fries as per tradition. My wife's pizza took awhile to come which was weird as they weren't bus and the pizza guy was standing around, however we went as they opened so perhaps they were waiting for the oven to heat up. We came for a post-hockey lesson lunch and this did the job well. My son generally prefers Valhalla Crossing nearby (trains, ya know) which has a similar vibe, however wouldn't mind inserting this oldie into the rotation once in awhile. read more

We wanted a quiet, earlier New Year's dinner and Cabin delivered and then some. They had NYE specials or you could order off their regular menu. My Almond encrusted salmon was perfectly prepared, wonderful portion, delicious champagne sauce. I asked for mash and green beans rather than rice and asparagus. Not a problem. The server was friendly, kept us in plenty of water and was very attentive. Baked stuffed clams were very good, a little peppery hot but that didn't stop me! For himself, the surf and turf, and the 8 oz filet was rare as requested, tender. Very fresh lobster tail. Very cozy inside as usual. Place was packed but not loud. Yes, the when many people are se the bar and it's one car per person, the lot fills up. I had to be creative with parking in their lot, but found a spot. The Cabin Restaurant food is delicious and fresh. Not overly fussy and trying too hard. Sometimes you want the standards people have enjoyed for decades. Here there is something for everyone to enjoy. If I want something laced with truffle oil, lobster foam, or sriracha, I know where to go. Been here before and typically a good experience. But not this time. We were seated promptly. However... my sandwich was supposed to be hot, and it was cold. Tried to get the waitresses attention, but she kept walking by. My husband water glass was empty, she never once came over to refill, only when we asked for containers to go, and I asked her for water, did she bring more. She was not even apologetic about it. If I could write a negative 1 I would. I was very disappointed with my dinner. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor, and the sides were cold when served. The meal did not seem fresh, and the overall quality was far below what I expected. Considering the price, this experience was unacceptable. The first time I came here I ordered nachos for the table and a salmon salad. The nachos were the best thing. The salmon was bland and had no flavor. My husband got a burger and truffle salted fries. The fries were terrible. We decided to give it a second try. This time we ordered the nachos again and they were fine. For entrees we order pizza. The pizza was terrible. The crust was like cardboard. The prosciutto pizza was dry and had no sauce on it. The next pizza was my husbands which was sausage but it was still mediocre at best. Went here on Sunday July 20th 2025 with my mom, aunt, uncle, and 2 of their friends as a total party of 6. Again since we were the first ones there, we were able to seat ourselves at any table that we fit at. We sat ourselves at a table in the corner by the front door, which i believe is where we sat a previous time. Which is okay, as it was comfortable and in our own little corner. Waiter greeted us in a timely manner. We started with 3 waters, raspberry vodka with sprite, and 2 sam adams. We looked over the menu and decided what we wanted. What a pleasant surprise! It was my first time there and our waiter was very polite and nice. I ordered a burger and my friend got a chicken ciabatta sandwich. Wow! That burger was outstanding! We just held an event at the cabin for 25 people and we are very happy with the service and the food. The portions were very big. I would call them generous the service was excellent. Pizzas are OK, nothing spectacular. With my allium , allergies, I am not able to review all of the appetizers that were served but the wings looked spectacular. MENU: Three choices on our group menu: sliced steak, chicken marsala, or broiled salmon. The sides were rice or garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. The waitress was thorough and pleasant- she assured that my food did not have any garlic or onion products on it. The salmon was cooked perfectly - tender and moist with a generous portion a top amount of fresh green beans. My table mate was very pleased with her sliced steak Prepared to a perfect medium rare. My husband and I have been there at least several times. Our favorite dish is their meatloaf though their other dishes are just as delicious. We've also enjoyed their selection of desserts. The Chocolate Lava Cake a la Mode is a must if you love chocolate as much as I do. Great service and overall ambiance. The only thing is you must watch your step- their front entrance area is low and if you're tall, there is a danger that you may smack your head on the low overhang. I have gone to the Cabin numerous times over the years, including once for a post-funeral luncheon that I had to organize. We had a fairly small group, maybe 30 people, and the owner was very accomodating. We got a private dining room and just let everybody order off the regular menu.
