The location looks cabin-cool and intriguing from the outside, but only slightly "cabin-esque" on the inside. Parking is limited. The bartender was pleasant although not spectacular on either of my two visits. Bar customers were locals and an older crowd. Some were quite odd. This is not a hangout place for out-of-towners. I had fried calamari on one visit -- it was below average on flavor, freshness and proper cooking (slightly rubbery). The bar and restaurant were clean although not spectacular. read more

Went with my family and enjoyed the food. I happy when you get the bill and they automatically add a gratuity to the bill before tax without asking. Then find out there's tax on the gratuity as well that I didn't approve. Like the food not happy with the mgmt policies. Probably won't be back for sometime if at all. read more

Cannot believe this place has been around since 1937. The Cabin is pretty big with a nice size parking lot. The restaurant was pretty full on this Monday afternoon. The menu has a large selection of everything from small dishes, salads & soups to entrees, sandwiches and pizza. The food is good, fresh, reasonably priced and the portions are large. The meatloaf is very good served with garlicky mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. This is a whole mini meatloaf not slices. The Thanksgiving sandwiches was served with mashed potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce. There are many other things we want to try at this comfortable woodsy cabin of a restaurant. read more

I clearly remember why I initially gave these guys a 3- few years ago. But now......I can't even make heads or tails out of this place. Since this is going to be a new area for me in terms of grabbing Lunch, I really wanted to jive with Cabin and give them the benefit of the doubt to revisit. As the only restaurant in the area- Cabin should be that special landmark offering really good, casual eating- but they don't. First of all, every below average Tom, Dick & Harry restaurant now wants to offer a freaking 'Ahi Tuna' salad in their menu. And not everybody can pull off a damn good piece of silky and flavorful Tuna. Spinach and the rest of the Greens in my Salad were fresh- so were the million and one diced red onions, a gazillion diced cucumbers and tons of red Peppers. I love my veggies- but damn... slice them- why don't you? It'll make any salad more appealing!The "Ahi Tuna"? It tasted refrigerated at its worst and nothing fresh about it -_-+. So am I being unfair with a 1 then? Cabin has the potential and the clientele- because it was really booming during Lunch! I mean...do they not know worthy food? Cute place, liked the decor. Was a little thrown that the dining room seemed to be seat yourself, so just be aware that that may be the case. Staff was rather attentive and was friendly enough. I didn't see any staff members not wearing face masks at any point, and from what I could see their cleaning procedures looked good. I had the onion soup, which was rather good. Not too salty, good beef and onion flavor. I'd get it again. We ordered a bacon cheese burger, which was excellent. The patty was rather thick, and cooked to a perfect medium. The bacon was crisp and flavorful. The French fries were excellent as well, crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Would definitely order again. We also had a pizza with pepperoni. The flavor of the pizza itself was good, but it probably could've used another minute or two in the oven and the crust was rather chewy instead of crispy. A interesting rustic place. Noticed it on our way back from Kenisco Dam which is a fabulous park and awesome dam. A nice place to hike, think and relax in nature. So after a long walk The Cabin can be a wonderful oasis to refuel. They have a full bar, pizza oven and awesome burgers. Prices are good and the portions are big. I've lived in Westchester for over 30 years and this restaurant has recommended to me a number of times, although my first time going, and last was last night. my friend, and I together order a Caesar salad, chicken wings, with buffalo sauce, and the sashimi salad. The food was paltry. The chicken was dry. The Caesar salad dressing was watered down and the tuna sashimi was rubbery. When we mentioned it to the server, she was nonplussed. The owners of that restaurant should be embarrassed to be serving such poor quality, food, and especially at the prices they are charging. I have no problem paying those prices for even moderately good food. I will never go back. read more

The prices have substantially increased to the point of making it expensive and not really worth it. $14 for a glass of wine that is a small pour and nothing special. While my family and I have enjoyed the sliced steak and mustard crusted chicken over the years, at $27.95 and $26.95 respectively, the value is just not there anymore. I have been to the cabin a few time over the past few years and each time I go the food is fine and all but it's nothing special. For example this evening I went with some friends--the service was excellent and the inside of the restaurant is cheerful and well laid out with a cool "cabin" feel. The food itself is okay at best but definitely nothing special. We shared the baked stuffed clams which had a ton of breading and didn't taste much like clams--they were fairly oily as well. We also had the chicken quesadilla appetizer which also was fine but the cheese wasn't the correct type for a quesadilla and there wasn't much flavor or much spice either. For my main dish I had the fish special which was blackened cod--the fish was cooked well but it was swimming in a sea of sauce--I could barely get to the beans and spinach as well as onions because they were swimming under the sauce that the fish was in. The prices are fair and we had a waiter who was very attentive and helpful which was a definite plus. The bar area at the restaurant is nice as well and they have some very tasty pizza's. It is worth checking out if you have yet to visit the cabin. read more

PSA: My review for today having lunch with friends at The Cabin in White Plains. By far the worst experience at this restaurant. We have been coming here for a long time but today was just miserable. Had to get up at least 4 times to ask for service. Had to ask for water, clear plates etc. All the waitstaff there today, which we had all girl servers, were horrible. They all had ATTITUDES especially the blonde with all the tattoos. Our server brought the wrong entree out and did not even try to take it back when we said that's not what was ordered. Then I requested a slice of cheesecake cause we had a birthday to celebrate and that took about 15 mins to come out. Again I had to go ask where the F was the Fing cake. Then the establishment has the nerve to add 20% gratuity for HORRIBLE SERVICE cause we were a party of six. Never again will I go there. They can all take their attitudes and stick them up their asses. I'm respectful to a server always when I go out and I expect the same in return. I'm no stranger to The Cabin, I actually used to come here pretty frequently some years back. However, the never-changing menu, spotty service, and difficulty finding parking eventually dissuaded me from keeping it in my arsenal of go-tos. My cousin chose The Cabin for my godson's Communion party. Knowing from my previous experiences, I had low expectations. My previous review highlighted my view of mediocrity associated with The Cabin, but my experience here today prompted me to give an update. The party was scheduled for 1pm; most of us arrived around 12:30 and were led to a back room that had some tables set. The turnoffs really started as soon as I got there, because we were all just sitting in the back for a good half hour with no sign of waitstaff. Finally around 1 someone came and took drink orders, after that he came back and took our food orders. We had a choice of two salads and three entrees; I chose the Caesar salad and the mustard-crusted chicken as my entree. The salad was served first (on really small appetizer plates) along with a basket of rolls - the first drop of food after being there for over an hour. My Caesar salad was good but overdressed, the croutons looked like they came out of the Pepperidge Farm bag. I didn't like my entree - the chicken was basically a fried cutlet, with maybe a small hint of mustard (if you didn't tell me it was mustard crusted I would never have guessed). It came with sides of mashed potatoes and string beans - these were just okay too, the amount of potatoes I received was way too much, and the quality of the beans were meh. I know it's hard to judge a place when you come for a party, but there are some things that I experienced that were just turn offs for me. The service sucked - a party of 15+ people had one person taking drink orders, food orders, serving, and bussing. It's not that he did a bad job, but because it was just him it made service very slow; he really needed help. Also, the fact that we didn't receive any sort of food at all until over an hour after arrival was really unacceptable; at least have bread at the table from the start, sheesh. Overall, my experience today really confirmed that The Cabin isn't a place I'm interested in returning to; definitely better places to go. read more

Fantastic restaurant! We were in town and stopped in for dinner. We loved it! Food was wonderful, service was, too. Our group of 4 for dinner had a variety of meals, but they were all really good. I had their specialty mustard marinade chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes - loved it! My wife had the seafood linguine - loved it! Our cousins had a bacon cheeseburger and the other had the crab cake sandwich - and...you guessed it - loved it! We enjoyed our dinner an could we coming back if we are in the area again. Used to be a decent restaurant. Went today again, we ordered calamari and stuffed clams as appetizers but stuffed clams were sour so have to return it. My hubby ordered meatloaf which should be safe. But it's another disappointment. It was mushy but only think it's too much breadcrumbs. Luckily he only ate half because it tasted really bad. He came home with diaheraa, likely from food poisoning.
