Elegant dining experience on a Saturday night for dinner and drinks. The four of us shared a bottle of champagne to celebrate a 20 year anniversary. We started with the muscles appetizer in curry sauce, which was good. For dinner we had the pan seared scallops, pork, chop and fig, Grilled shrimp with grits, and mama's chicken, all were delicious! For dessert, we shared the chocolate cake and dessert special, which was pumpkin cheesecake. Both two were delicious service was exceptional and we will definitely be back to dine here again.

Mussel curry and Salmon Tartar

Few restaurants live up to the hype. Ella's clearly did this from great service, great cocktail options & wine choices. Food is always the star here. The curry mussels and the lamb chops were exceptional. The salmon tartar was the sleep from presentation to taste. A must restaurant if in the area.

We were looking for somewhere to have dinner in Westerly and decided to try Ella's. After an average meal with a very high price tag, my advice to others is to skip Ella's and try somewhere else in town. We started our meal with a cocktail (French Connection) and a mocktail. The cocktail was very small without the creative flavor I expected. The mocktail was light and refreshing. We got focaccia as an appetizer, which was very tasty. For the main course we got the Pig and the Fig, which the pork was actually quite under seasoned and boring but the potato was fantastic, and the scallops (wonderful!). So overall some of the food is quite wonderful but some things were kind of a miss. For the price of the food, my expectation is for it all to be wonderful. The other part of the dinner that has me not eager to return is the overall tone and feeling the staff left us with. As soon as we walked in, we felt unwelcome, like we were not the type of guests they usually have. I was at a table of four, all of us are in our late twenties/early thirties. We were dressed casual/business casual (no different than any other patrons there) so I would say there was nothing notable about us except perhaps we were a bit younger? When we were shown to our table, the maitre d seemed unsure if they wanted to lead the way or follow behind which ended up being a bit awkward. The server insisted on telling us that "the ladies order first here" and was overall hyper vigilant during our meal, which is usually a good thing but it felt like they were looking for something to scold us about. I do not mean to say this person was unfriendly or unprofessional, but they seemed like a strict aunt that didn't want any trouble in their house. Overall, we felt condescended during our meal and were glad we were too full for dessert because we were ready to leave! Ella's claims to be a fine dining restaurant and I think it is. So long as your expectation of that is exactly how they do it, you should have a pleasant evening.

Great spot for a birthday dinner or date night. Menu is on the pricey side but the food is delicious. The staff is very accommodating and I would definitely come back again.

If you're looking for True Culinary Artistry in presentation. Absolutely impeccable service- and a refined palettes Paradise- Look NO further! This restaurant will exceed your every desire and engage you, satisfying every facet of the most extreme critics Dream dining experience. Creativity in presentation and perfection in complimentary flavor blending. Our Thursday evening menu offered an excellent variety of choices in options. From house made breads to their specialty desserts and the surprise finisher after the bill for fare. Our server was SO much more... His descriptions of each of our inquiring mind's gastronomic queries was spot on and his recommendations absolute truth, Brett is a Star! Even the pickiest of our party was a member of the clean plate club. Portions were generous enough to share and yet still have plenty to satisfy your desire for that dish which teased you into wanting it in the first place. This was a real full sensory dining experience- of the highest order. 6 out of 5 stars, here, can we give our chef a Medal?

Ambiance was really fancy and perfect for a date night. We loved our service and being told what was good from one of the owners who greeted us and sat us down. One of the things I needed to try was the curry mussels appetizer - which the chef owner had beat Bobby Flay with! It was fantastic! I highly recommend going to this restaurant for a special night.

I actually expected it to be really busy when we got there around 10:45, but there were quite a few open tables. They sat us in a queue table right in the window near the water. I couldn't decide what to get because everything looks so good. I ended up with the Patatas Brava which had soupy in it. I haven't had soup in years and they made it really stand out with the home fries, eggs, and crema. My wife had the basic breakfast, and everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. We ordered an apple crêpe for the table that had caramel and toasted almonds on it. The staff was also great. We had one waitress, but a second one was always there to check on us. The service gets five stars for sure! I wish we had a place like this near our house. It's right on the line of Westerly Rhode Island so we were able to walk around downtown Westerly which was really nice.

Cheers to Johnson & Wales, Culinary program:) The chef is prepared to impress.

I had noted it was our anniversary on the reservation but I feel like restaurants seldom take notice. Not only did many of the staff wish us a happy anniversary, our dessert was inscribed and champagne was received. The server, Max, was meticulous with detail and made sure our dining experience was top notch. We started with wine by the glass then switched to a half bottle of wine, which was perfect for dinner. For an entree, I got the Cornish game hen supreme, which I will be thinking about for a long time. It was well seasoned and the mix of accoutrements made the dish. I wish I got more of the butternut squash/carrot purée!! This will definitely not be our last time at Chanterelle!

We enjoyed a 2021 Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir with our dinner. My husband and I shared two appetizers, the beef tartare and the lobster raviolo. Outstanding! The beef tartare was so fresh and flavorful. Unfortunately, there were only two pieces for $19. The lobster raviolo was filled with mascarpone and lobster topped with trout row. Decadent. One ravioli priced at $21. I had the Dover soul with almond sauce ($64) and hubby had the roasted duck ($34) for entrees. Both perfect in every way. One minor suggestion is that the Dover didn't need the frisée. It just got in the way. Our friends who recommended Chanterelle suggested that we order the Grand Marnier soufflé when we ordered our dinner because we shouldn't miss out on this dessert and it takes some time to bake the soufflé. Oh my goodness...I have never tasted something so divine, creamy and luscious. Silk on my tongue. The service from Nick and the young lady assisting was spot on. It is an expensive restaurant but I think worth the $$$$ Just be aware of the cost so you're not surprised. I've dined at Alinea in Chicago which is a 3 Michelin star restaurant ranked 9th on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, and Chanterelle might be my 2nd most favorite restaurant after Alinea. Fine dining at its best!

It's rare to find a restaurant that can offer beef Wellington let alone one that cooked it to absolute perfection. I prefer mine rare plus and the chef nailed it. They do family style sides for a vegetables which was nice. My fiancé got the rack of lamb and they weren't joking. It's a whole rack, he said the flavor was spot on. On our way to Maine to visit relatives, my companion and I thought a stopover in the peaceful…read moreseaside village of Watch Hill, Rhode Island, with dinner at the famous Ocean House, might be the perfect start to our extended weekend. While the hotel offers several dining possibilities, there is no question in my mind that Coast is their culinary chef d'oeuvre. My dining partner and I found their New England-inspired cuisine to be not only beautifully presented but also absolutely delicious. Throw in an award-winning wine list, friendly & personable service, picturesque view of the Atlantic Ocean, and a most satisfying evening at table awaits. Be advised, however... What also awaits is a pretty hefty hit on your pocketbook, as our five-course prix-fixe Degustation Menu - with several choices included - was priced at $145.00 per person, plus beverages, tax & gratuity (there is also a similarly priced vegetarian menu). If you want to add the Reserve Wine Pairing, which I did, that will cost you an additional $125.00 per person (Grand Wine Pairing an additional $250.00 per person). Definitely not what you would call a cheap date. That being said, however, in my opinion - and that of my companion as well - dinner here is well worth the expenditure. Our first course was the Ninigret Pond Oyster "Pan Roast." Sourced from a local coastal lagoon that is linked to the Atlantic Ocean and Block Island Sound, Ninigret Pond is home to several reliable oyster purveyors. I must confess that I have never been an enthusiastic fan of bivalves in general - and raw oysters in particular. However, the pan-roasted representatives sampled here, smooth & buttery with a touch of sweetness and sprinkled with Royal Belgian Osetra Caviar, were quite good indeed. And the Ruinart Singulier 18th Edition, Blanc de Blancs, Brut Nature, Champagne, (France), proved to be the perfect libationary accompaniment. But even better was the outrageously delicious Bluefin Tuna Tartare. I have tasted this dish on numerous occasions; however, this particular incarnation was in a class all by itself. Gently caressed by avocado and kissed by golden kiwi and a beguiling carrot ginger reduction, the result was a presentation that was pleasing to both eye and palate, and a highlight of our evening. The 2019 Tegernseerhof Loibenberg Riesling Smaragd Wachau (Austria), of course, added immensely to the enjoyment. The next course presented us with a rather interesting conundrum... the choice between two equally appetizing possibilities. My dining companion, of course, went immediately for the Seared Scallops & Foie Gras. I, on the other hand, decided to side entirely with the carnivores... Kuro Farms Wagyu Strip Loin. Companioned by short rib, confit carrot, and Sicilian pistachios, this was a winner all the way... as was the wine selection, the 2020 Aslina "Umsasane," an enticing blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot from Stellenbosch, South Africa. The dessert course was especially noteworthy, a Blackberry Sudachi Entremet aided and abetted by white chocolate mousse, lavender, and raw honey sponge. A rather unusual denouement, I must admit, but a lovely presentation and irresistibly scrumptious. And, once again, the wine selection - 2018 Domaine Huet Le Mont Moelleux, a Chenin Blanc from Vouvray, Touraine, in France's Loire Valley - was right on the money. The Bottom Line: An exceptionally fine dining experience. Pricey, to be sure... but, in my opinion, worth every penny. A restaurant to which my dining companion and I would gladly return. Highly recommended on all counts.

My husband and I came in around 6 pm on a Sunday evening for dinner (booked ahead of time) and the place was pretty empty. We were seated right away and our server was great, super friendly and helpful with what to order. There are a ton of specials off the menu which sounded amazing, so we both ordered two specials with Hake (~$46 each). Both were delicious, fresh and innovative takes on fish. I wish they had more of the specials listed because it was hard for us to keep them all straight. I started with the fondue for one which was tasty and fun but I would have preferred if it also came with cornichons and that the potatoes weren't fried (it was really heavy and oily with cheese and fried potatoes). Drinks were pretty weak for $26, and the bartender actually forgot to add champagne to one of our French 75s, lol. He did remedy it, though. We split the ice cream sandwich for dessert which was a little strange but tasty. All in all the food was very flavorful but at the price point I probably wouldn't come back.
