I have been a longtime loyal customer of The Cake House and it is with deep disappointment that I am writing this review after what I experienced today. I entered the store wearing a hoodie over my hair -- as a hijabi woman, covering my hair is a religious obligation, not a style choice. Approximately 10 minutes into my visit, a store associate approached me and instructed me to remove my hood, mentioning it was a new policy she had forgotten to communicate when I checked in. I declined and explained my religious reasons multiple times. Rather than handling this privately and with discretion, two additional associates called out from opposite corners of the store repeating the demand, drawing the attention of everyone present and causing me significant embarrassment. When I explained again that I am religiously unable to expose my hair, the male associate told me I could "go somewhere else." I then asked if I could simply check out the one item I had and was refused. I asked if they had anything I could use to cover my hair as an alternative and they said they didn't. I went to my car to find a solution myself, returned willing to work something out, and was met at the door by a security guard who would not allow me to ask a single question before repeating that I needed to remove my hood. I left without my purchase feeling humiliated, singled out, and honestly discriminated against. I understand the intent behind hood policies in retail settings. What I cannot accept is a policy that was not communicated at entry, was enforced in a way that publicly singled me out, and offered no accommodation for religious observance. I tried at every step to find a workable solution and was denied at every turn. I loved this store. The selection is wonderful. But what does it say to your Muslim customers -- or any customer with a religious head covering -- when they are turned away, yelled at across the store, and told to go elsewhere? I tried to work with your team at every single step and was met with escalation. I want to be transparent: what I experienced likely warrants a formal complaint with the EEOC, as businesses are required to make reasonable accommodations for religious practices, and a blanket "no hoods" policy applied to a hijabi customer without any attempt at accommodation raises serious concerns. I am choosing to write this review first because I genuinely hope The Cake House uses this as an opportunity to do better -- to train staff on all necessary accommodations, to communicate new policies clearly at entry, and most importantly, to handle these situations with basic dignity and discernment rather than making a customer into a public spectacle. I sincerely hope this reaches someone who cares enough to make a change as this was an extremely disheartening experience. read more

As an epileptic and disabled veteran I've never been treated like trash by a so called lead managers and security guard. I was asked to leave my backpack purse at the front and I've never been asked before I'm a returning customer that pays at least $400 a month medically for my disabilities. I was told to keep my backpark purse in the front and not onlydo I keep all my money in it but also my rescue medication for my epilepsy is in my backpack. The whack lady who checked me in [knowing i'm a disabled veteran] and the new skinny security guard]tried to make me leave it and I told them no I'm not keeping it b/c it has my important stuff and my rescue medication and thousands of dollars. She said that's okay just leave it here. Haha yah right I don't trust ANYBODY with my backpack purse. She called security on me, needless to say I will NOT be going back due to them breaking the American Disbility Law Act. My over 400 dollars I use to pay for medical MJ will now be going to a different shop. I have contacted BBB and I have contacted my discrimination lawyer and I am probably going to take this up legally since I did have a seizure due to all this stress and their discrimination a few hours after this confrontation. This place has gone down hill with diff management. I'm a regular and have never been treated this way or felt so disrespected as a disabled veteran trying to purchase my medication. The Asian security guard has NEVER made me or even asked me to leave my backpack purse. There was one cool security guard just checking in that was trying to deescalate the situation so we went outside to talk about our Navy rates and the fake manager came outside to try and escalate it again when there was no reason for them to come outside when I was having a heart to heart with a brother in arms [the cool security guard] . She and the skinny security guard need coaching and to be fired. That store needs a REAL manager. I'm a veteran with high connections and I will make sure the owner and everyone gets proof of the way I was treated which caused me to have an epileptic seizure this morning. The company is liable because stress=seizures. Bad management made the place awful. read more

The Cake House is hands-down one of the best dispensaries I've been to! Very friendly and supportive of veterans. There's something good at every price level, low to high. Customers love this place. It's a gathering spot and many events take place here. I bought edibles from this dispensary that was recommended by the sales person. I tried 1 10mg piece with absolutely no effect. The next day I upped it to 2 10 mg pieces and had the same experience. I called the dispensary and spoke with management and asked for a refund or a credit towards something else. I was told that it was not possible and that there are no guarantees and maybe I should contact the manufacturer. I tried that and got no response. I am an experienced user and have never bought an edible that had absolutely no effect, especially at that dosage. In my opinion this is bad business.
