Verdict: all of the buns were so tender with just the right amount of filling ratio to bun. What was so good about the cocktail buns was that since they were connected together during baking, the sides of these buns were really soft between each bun just as I remembered from my childhood. The lemon and custard fillings were not too sweet and the cracqaline pineapple crust didn't fall off the bun while you ate it. The pineapple custard bun is hard to find at most Chinese bakeries so I was thrilled to find it here. I have yet to try the Portuguese egg tart but any of my family's taste tests were to go by, it will not disappoint. The service was helpful and nice. The bakery interior is organized with offerings of steamed meat buns, deep fried and baked pastries, cookies and breads in showcases and on shelves. Traditional baked bread is less of a priority since this bakery caters to Chinese pastries and savouries. The faded exteriors signage is visible evidence of this business's longevity in the community. I look forward to coming back again the next time I'm here. Cash and debit only.

It was a huge hit with everyone! The 6 inch cake was $69 and I added a customized birthday message on chocolate for an extra $3 which was a nice personal touch. They also offer a gluten free option for an additional $10 which is great for accommodating different dietary needs. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll want to order online well in advance because their cakes sell out quickly. I can definitely see why. They're fantastic! I'll be ordering from Gary's Patisserie again for future celebrations.

Have seen Gary's fresh mango cakes all over IG and with my Dad's recent birthday I convinced my…read moresister to order one, instead of our usual mango cake from Saint Germaine bakery. Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.

Their online ordering system is easy to use. The cake was nicely decorated as shown on their website. However, when we cut it, the lower whipped cream/ bayberry jam layer bursted out, while the vanilla crème brûlée layer was hard like cold butter, making the cutting uneasy. The bayberry jam and lychee were very refreshing and matched the chiffon and cream well. As mentioned above, the vanilla crème brûlée was hard like cold butter. It definitely added an extra texture to the cake, and made the cake more unique. I like La Fleur D'Oranger provides options for 4" cakes which are perfect for small families like mine!

It was my first time visiting, so I asked the staff to introduce a few options before deciding on a small 4-inch cake. 4" Bayberry, Lychee & Crème Brûlée Cloud Chiffon Cake - $38.00 Fresh whipped cream blended with in-house bayberry jam made from whole seasonal fruit, combined with lychee flesh and their signature vanilla crème brûlée. They happened to have all the ingredients ready in-store, so I was able to pick it up just three hours later. The shop itself is quite small, with only about three tables for customers to sit and enjoy their cakes and coffee. They also offer individual cheesecakes, individual size chiffon cakes, muffins and cookies. The lychee chiffon cake was a big hit. The cream was light and not greasy at all, and the lychee flavor was very fragrant. There were even several pieces of real lychee fruit inside. The staff mentioned this was their most popular dessert cake. Highly recommended! I'd love to come back next time to try other desserts and their coffee. Definitely recommend this place.

They were showing each other the flavors, and shapes, and designs. Sweet plus savory. Cutting them in half and sharing. It was the least we could do to bring these high quality goodies, made by high quality bakers, to these high quality nurses in the cardiac unit for my mother-in-law. We were so impressed with the staff at L'atelier. They know their stuff and their recommendations are top notch. The bakery itself is so cute and modern and fun. I loved that you could sit outside even in the rain because they have stellar permanent awnings.

French bakery on Broadway with lovely interior and good coffee…read more We tried the canelé, which I think is one of the best indicators of a French bakery's pastry skills. Unfortunately, this one was a bit disappointing. The interior was overly moist, the caramelized crust lacked the crispness I was hoping for, and the honeycomb structure wasn't very well developed. Overall, it was just average. We also ordered the Strawberry Pistachio Tart. The strawberries were fresh with a nice balance of sweetness, and there was a good amount of pistachio chunks. However, it lacked the layers of flavor that make a tart memorable. On the bright side, the coffee was excellent and easily my favorite part of the visit. I'd happily come back for a coffee, but I'd probably try different pastries next time.
