I drive past this place a lot and there's always a decent line in the drive thru so I was curious…read moreto see what all the fuss was about. Today I took the initiative to actually give this place a try, instead of continuously passing it by. Moka is a cute and small coffee shop that has a pretty broad menu. I was actually surprised at all the menu options. My experience is strictly pertaining to the drive thru. Unlike a traditional drive thru an employee will come outside and take your order face to face. I always like when establishments do this because it makes the experience more personable- and I feel more comfortable asking about menu items. Today I got a medium iced caramel macchiato and the chorizo breakfast burrito. Both were really really good. The burrito comes with a side of hot sauce, and I feel the portion is super filling. My iced caramel macchiato was very tasty, not watered down, and I liked how I could actually taste the caramel. As far as prices go I paid $13.38, it's similar to what I would pay at Starbucks. It can get a bit pricey. Luckily for me- after doing a bit of research I found that Moka does have an app and a rewards program. I just think they should advertise it a little bit more. But other than that I truly enjoyed my first experience here. I'm glad I have another coffee shop to diversify where I get my coffee. Starbucks now officially has a little competition lol!

Oh I was so excited when I saw this place in North Aurora. Coffee trailers like these are littered…read moreall over the Pacific Northwest, but rarely (never?) have I seen one around here. They can be super convenient, in my case because I don't have to struggle with a toddler and hot beverage at the same time. If I was not risk averse I'd consider it a business opportunity! It seems popular, as there was a steady stream of cars in line, probably at least five when I arrived. One of the employees came out to take our order whilst we were waiting in line a la Portillo's. It did mean that the drink I ordered was ready more quickly, but I wasn't able to study the menu as long. They don't have their full menu on the board, which is annoying. All the drinks are listed (with the exception of any specials they may have, which they may or may not have) and the menu board says to ask about the food they carry but the food isn't listed. There's a digital sandwich board that cycles through some of their items and specials, but you can't always catch everything as the images cycle through. The hot chocolate I ordered was really good. I also ordered a couple of sausage muffins and they were delicious. I haven't tasted something quite like it and I wish I knew where to get them for my own kitchen! They have sausage, cheese, egg (I think) and a bit of maple flavor to them. They don't say this on the description but I think they may be baked in a little bit of pancake mix because there seemed to be a dough that encased all the ingredients. I'm going to have to look for a recipe because I've made egg muffins before too but this is a good way to make sure that they retain their shape well and probably also reheat better. If I'm in the area I'll definitely come back to Moka.

Better than usual ice cream in Aurora. Charlie's is located on Stolp Island in a former factory…read morelocation. It has kind of a limited selection but the flavors are more exotic than typical. Has okay prices even though it's premium and small batch. They also have a few sorbets but it's random. A bad thing is the ever changing hours. It's hard to know when they're open. They're open longer in summers. As expected. It's about $5 to get a scoop. Has an okay amount of flavors to choose. There's not a whole lot but it's still an okay amount for a smaller locally owned place. A few non dairy sorbets are among the rotating flavors. Last time they had the Pink Grapefruit Sorbet. Had the sourness and sweetness of the fruit prepared with sugar on it. There's also other flavors such as espresso and tangerine. For sure it's a great idea to call ahead before going. It's got a bunch of flavors and they change these random times. They're usually closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

Stopped into Boba Milk Tea House for the first time so that I could get a treat for my niece…read moreearlier this month. She got a vanilla milk tea with boba and I got a coffee milk tea with boba which they told me they make with a coffee concentrate. Both tasted good and the boba was prepared nicely. She said her drink was "delish!" and gave it two big thumbs up. This is a nice shop with lots of seating and they do a good job of making the place feel cozy. Of course my niece wanted a pic with the flower wall but also really enjoyed the hand painted boba mural. The staff are super nice and helpful and they have an extensive menu that seems to cover just about every option I would want available. I also appreciate the affordability of Boba Milk Tea House compared to other places. We got two the two regular sized drinks for $13. Hopefully the rest of their offerings are as good as the milk teas. P.s. I actually stopped in a few days later because I had gotten an alert that my credit card was charged twice during my initial visit. The staff member was very helpful and even went so far as to call Toast who is their servicer for POS and wait on hold to see about fixing it. Toast admitted that it was due to an error on their end and that they would refund me. It was during this second visit that I saw the newly installed fridge with cakes slices, desserts and noodle options for sale which all looked pretty tasty.
