I came here during Pride Month for a special Drag Performance/Karaoke night. I've been to the Good Nite a few times in the past. It's a great neighborhood dive. I'm a regular at its sister bar, The Offbeat, and am a fan of their weekly Drag Show, Exposure. What I didn't know is that the Good Nite also hosts a fantastic Drag show every other Tuesday. Specialty Pride Cocktails were being served and the fantastic bartenders served each drink with a smile. Our hosts for the evening were Serendipity (@serendipity_ray) & Nicholai (@nicholaidior_la). They had such amazing energy. The performers were also incredible: Mari Anette (marionette_drag), Aiana Shaw (@aianashaw), Judy (@justjudythatsit), & Leon Fire (thefirekingleon). I loved them all. Each routine was enjoyable and engaging. Their enthusiasm was infectious. The Good Nite has been touted as one of So Cal's Best Karaoke bars, and it's a nightly event here. During intermission three audience members were selected to belt out their favorite tune and dazzled us with their talented singing abilities. I came to The Good Night on a Tuesday for karaoke, and the experience was beyond frustrating. First off, the host asked everyone to DM her on Instagram to request songs, which was already an odd setup. But what made it worse was how disorganized it was -- she completely ignored the order of the messages. I waited two hours to sing my first song, while the same group got to sing multiple times, the host herself sang, and people who arrived much later than me somehow got to perform before I did. It felt unfair and unprofessional, and the whole system just didn't make any sense. If you're looking for a karaoke spot where everyone gets a fair chance to sing, this is NOT the place. The Good Nite is a solid place to hang and enjoy Karaoke. It's a dive bar with a diverse crowd, and the vibe is always chill and unpretentious. The friendly bartenders do a good job at keeping the drinks flowing and creating a fun atmosphere.They don't serve food but there is usually a taco guy out front on weekends. The bar doesn't have a dedicated parking lot but there is plenty of street parking. There is no cover charge . The area is pretty suspect so I recommend using the buddy system and practicing your " stranger danger" alerts before walking back to your car. read more

The bar and bartenders are GREAT. The bouncer was great, very friendly! My problem is with the gender specific bathrooms and the karaoke DJ. When we arrived the "ladies" bathroom was not working. Why they have separate men and women bathrooms is a mystery since both are for 1 person 1 toilet so why have a men's and women's? Second complaint is with the karaoke DJ. We each put in a song and we also tipped the DJ. After left after waiting 2 hours we were still not called, even though we saw many people come in after us get to sing almost immediately. Was looking for a new karaoke spot as I have just moved from the west side and frequented other spots on that side of town. I have come a few times trying to see if this could be my fun little weekly spot...Unfortunately it really depends what night you come. I went on a Tuesday, got there at 11:30 and an hour passed and still wasn't even called for a first song. The system is flawed, having people add the host on Instagram to then dm song requests is wild. I seen the same ten people go up three times each then people who arrived 20mins after us go up before my message was even opened. So my husband and I recently decided to give the Good Nite another chance. We live close by so it should be a no brainer, but we'd had some questionable experiences in the past. We heard there was new management so we gave it a shot. We went to karaoke a couple of Fridays and had a great time, the regular KJ is a nice guy, supportive, decent sound and a good set up. Put in a slip, wait your turn, straight forward. Great bartenders and good booze selection so we were happy! Until this past Friday. The regular KJ was there but for some reason he wasn't working, another dude was running karaoke. Josh. Josh had a QR code as a sign up system. When you get to the sign up page, you're informed that anything over $10 tip will guarantee your spot and a $50 tip gives you back to back songs (see pic). Nope. That's extortion, not a sign up system. We always tip our servers and the KJ at the end of the night because we had a good time and they worked hard to make that happen, not because we're ordered to. I love this bar. They have fun events like comedy shows, open mics or live music; and at night, there's karaoke. I mostly come out for the comedy but I've been a few times to sing, and they seem to have a big menu of song choices. Their Instagram has updates on their calendar of events. The bar has cheap drinks and nice staff, and there's plenty of free parking on the street. Todd the DJ is a prick who thinks everyone is drunk or stupid. Most karaoke DJs, put you up in the order that you submit your request. He put up two women TWICE before I could go up the second time and I was very pissed about it. One was an older lady, who went up four songs after her first, the other was this big girl, God bless her, maybe she was his sister. when I asked was I coming up for my second song, he said "If you've been up, you've gotta wait at least an hour." it had ALREADY been 75 minutes. also he put people up who came in late well AFTER I had sang and submitted again. I waited 1hour and 45 minutes and NEVER went up. I also tip EVERY TIME I submit. Fuck TODD. He's a Bitch and a liar! The security guard Tre I believe is his name, is really a nice guy. Tried The Goodnite twice and it's now a "last resort" kind of place. It's a karaoke bar but the DJ does a fairly terrible job running the karaoke system smoothly and efficiently. There are long gaps between every new karaoke songs because he doesn't have them queued up in advance, so there is so much wasted time, I'm talking like sometimes a full minute or two and it's just crazy because they even use a karaoke system I've seen at many karaoke bars that you can normally scan a QR code and search your song and sign yourself up and it will literally queue patrons up for you, and the patrons can see the list and how long they have before they are up. Whoever The Goodnite chooses to not use this feature for some reason and instead, you must sign up on small scraps of paper and hand it to the dj who then puts them in whatever order he feels like. This is not the 90's, there's no reason to use scraps of paper when your program literally has all the features to make the whole system work more efficiently. I have put my name and song in and watched other people sing 2-3 times before I was called. And the only reason I was called was because I went up asked if they forgot about me or forgot to put my name in and sure enough mine and my partners names had never been put in rotation. The order constantly changes each round and is not consistent. Typically you have people go up and sing in the order that they submitted their songs, and at the end of each rotation, it starts over again in the same order, it's easy, fair and keeps things going smoothly. However this is not how it's done here, regular patrons seem to get priority and so do the people who seem to be the DJs friends. We even tipped the dj as he kept pushing for tips over the mic and that still didn't garner us any better or fairer service. The dj just picks and chooses who gets to sing more often and who he decides to make wait. I've went two different weekends now and both times it was like this. The regular patrons all seem me very nice and the patrons are all supportive of anyone thats up singing. But some people will get to sing 4-5 times while some only get to sing 1-2 times, a night because of the weird favoritism. So it's very disappointing and it's not fun when to get to have a turn you have to constantly go up and remind the dj to stop "forgetting" to put you in the rotation. No other karaoke bar I've been to has been like this and been this inconsistent and dysfunctional. This place is very close to my house so it's a last resort if we don't feel like traveling far. But honestly there's an amazing karaoke place in Culver City that runs so smoothly and fairly and it's worth the drive rather than going here, which is a shame because the customers are nice and supportive. The dj seems like a nice guy in general and he has a great rock singing voice, he just isn't very good at being a karaoke DJ and it really shows and he's just leagues and leagues behind every other karaoke DJ I've seen in terms of making the experience efficient, smooth, fair and fun. If they got a better DJ who actually used the full abilities of heir karaoke system and ran things smoothly and fair this would be a really fun local place to go. So it's a shame. That's my opinion on my experience there. read more

Really bad experience. We came in with 4 friends. Heard it was a great karaoke bar. We quickly learned that we needed to be part of a paying league to be part of the karaoke OR wait until 10pm. Since we did not belong to the league we waited. The league ended around 10:30pm, then Todd, the new karaoke DJ took about 15 minutes to set up AND let his 2 friends skip the line to add songs to the cue. I was waiting for 30 minutes to add 2 songs and we ended up singing 5th and 9th place. Horrible experience, would not recommend. So many other places around the valley are way better. read more
