    Fiesta Salad Steak

The food here is always fresh and tasty. It was lovely to sit next to the fireplace on such a cold damp day. Lovely and accommodating waiter. Hard to choose from such an extensive menu. Great bar too. Today I had a crunchy salad with a piece of skirt steak. My friend had a huge enchilada platter. Couldn't have been better.

Love this neighborhood tasty treat for tapas to shrimp tacos to specials you'll delight in trying. As a regular who loves good Mexican cuisine I'm here often & recommend highly! Buen provecho!

I've been coming to Cantina for over 30 years, and not much has changed -- in the best way. They still serve some of the best chips and salsa around (though they do charge for them now). The menu has remained consistent, with plenty of options for both steak lovers and vegans alike. Service can be on the slower side, and you might have to ask more than once for water, but the food and the familiarity keep me coming back. Also, they're open when other places are closed such as 4th of July. They have a nice patio that you can bring your well behaved dog.

This restaurant has been around for a long time and it is well known in Marin County as a place to come for decent Mexican food. There is a bar area with TVs going so you could do that or you could bring your family here and sit in the restaurant. It all works. Carlos Santana bought this restaurant years back and converted it into a more upscale Latin restaurant, but it didn't work and the restaurant went back to the way it was before. The restaurant menu is big with all the usual favorites, combinations, etc..

Friendly staff, nice decor very extensive menu. Good selection of margaritas! The black beans were tasty.

    ENCHILADAS SUIZAS

The ENCHILADAS SUIZAS! Amazing food and service! The atmosphere was relaxing, a perfect end to a busy week! Our server Friday evening was so attentive and thoughtful, we had a big party, the restaurant was super busy, and she still made sure we had everything we needed!

Our server was super nice, and that's where the nicety ends. The food totally sucks. My cheese quesadilla was missing some cheese. And it has green onions? Thank you, next. My GF ordered the chicken burrito. The chicken burrito tasted as if it had a dream of flavor. It required a liberal dousing of cholula. It was also served with a salad...who would have asked for that? The 3% living wage surcharge doesn't go to any of the staff, it just goes to the restaurant. That's pretty deceitful. Like, what? I would not come back here again. If you like dry, bland, overpriced food, come to the cantina.

She was super accommodating and attentive without being overbearing. Once we told her what we liked, she immediately knew what to recommend and guided us through the menu perfectly. You can tell she knows her stuff. We came specifically for happy hour (we're definitely HH aficionados) and made it our mission to try everything on the menu. While the chips & dip were good, they're something you can find elsewhere, so not necessarily a standout. Everything else, though? OUTSTANDING! The hummus, whipped feta, and muhamarra were next-level--easily some of the best we've had. The CN burger sliders were also a hit--we had one each and they were so yummy that next time my husband is already planning on getting two. The drinks were on point. The espresso martinis absolutely fueled our afternoon in the best way, and we also tried the creamsicle cocktail and the shrimp Za'atar from the regular menu--both were super delicious in their own way. The ambiance was great, and the bartender was clearly on top of things, which always adds to the overall vibe. One thing worth noting: happy hour is now only offered Monday-Thursday, but Sydney was kind enough to honor it for us on Saturday since the website hadn't been updated yet. That level of service really sealed the deal for us. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish--great food, great drinks, and even better service. Easy five stars.

So you get a small and intimate feel where seated outdoors (so pleasant) or indoors. They have live jazz style music playing. Happy hour is 4-6 pm at the "bar section" only, separate from the main restaurant. Go early as its first come first serve. I tried the crispy buffalo wings which was good. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and our server was kind and friendly, but the service felt disorganized. We specifically asked to have the oysters first, followed by the 1000 Layer Crispy Potatoes with caviar, and then our entrees. Instead, the potatoes arrived almost immediately. When our server saw them, she asked if the oysters had already been brought out. They hadn't, and after she went to check on them, we had a very long wait before they finally arrived. The wait between the oysters and our entrees was even longer. We were told the kitchen was running slowly because there was a wedding upstairs, which we understood. The atmosphere also felt mismatched. For such a beautiful, upscale waterfront restaurant, the fairly loud hip-hop/rap music just didn't fit the setting or the dining experience we were expecting. The food was the biggest disappointment. The oysters were excellent and easily the highlight of the meal, and the presentation throughout was beautiful. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't live up to how good the dishes looked. Nearly everything else was overly salty. My steak frites was so heavily salted that it overwhelmed the dish, and my wife had the same issue with her petrale sole. Meanwhile, other elements, including the potatoes, were surprisingly bland. We were also disappointed to discover that the lobster pot pie, a signature dish I had specifically been looking forward to and one of the reasons I booked the restaurant, was no longer on the menu. We learned that The Bungalow Kitchen is under new management and the menu had changed. I had been saving The Bungalow Kitchen for a special occasion. I never dined here under the previous Michael Mina management, so I can't fairly compare the two experiences, but this wasn't the dining experience I had envisioned when I chose it for our anniversary. It's a gorgeous space in a beautiful location, and the staff were pleasant. But at these prices, we expected the food, service and overall experience to live up to the setting. Unfortunately, ours fell well short of those expectations. Since dining here also requires a significant drive for us, the experience wasn't good enough to justify making the trip again to give it a second chance.
