The Capital Grill in Burlington offers a lot of great things it has valet parking, the ambience is good and the place has a good vibe. We go there several times during the year. I will say one of the big things that you expect is excellent service and focus on the details of the presentation and the food. We were there last night with seven other friends for a party of nine. We had reserved a private room and were and looking forward to the Generous Pour. The disappointing part was when my 16oz bone in filet mignon steak which I had ordered, medium rare to rare came out well done! When you pay $100 for a steak, there are expectations that it's done right the first time. It really makes me question who is overseeing the quality control of the product, leaving the kitchen and plated on the table. This is something that is truly unacceptable for a restaurant of this quality. I was one of the last in our group to receive my meal and they left it on the table and then came back like 15 minutes later upon which I told them that it was well done and was unacceptable. The service person said yeah it was well done wasn't it which honestly made me even more upset because they knew it was not cooked to the requested temperature. They offered to cook another one, but that would've taken at least 20 minutes to come out to the table. It's just the fact that it never should've came out that way and the lack of concern to meet the high standards they set for themselves is very telling of how the standards have slipped at the Capital Grille. Our bill came to just under $2000 - when you're paying that much for dinner your expectation is that the service and food is Top Notch. Truly disappointed and will have to think about if we are going back to the Capital Grill again there are too many good steak restaurants in the area to accept this type of service and quality of food. Came here to celebrate a few birthdays and had a great time! The staff were kind, professional, and efficient. Ambiance was classy and definitely more upper scale. We came here with a reservation for 4 and got seated quickly. Menu had a good selection of dishes and we got a few apps to share. Free bread was great - warm and fresh. Calamari was decent and the seafood platter was well-presented and had good quality ingredients. The steak was excellent which is to be expected and the sides were tasty. Overall, we had a nice meal and probably will return if celebrating another night again. We went to The Capital Grille with three other couples for the $125/person Generous Pour event featuring a four-course dinner paired with six Duckhorn wines. Unfortunately, the service and the way the evening ended completely overshadowed what was otherwise very good food. Our 7:00 reservation wasn't seated until about 7:30, and our table of eight was given one Generous Pour menu to share. I asked another server for more menus, but he never returned. After about 15 minutes, I finally asked our waiter and received additional menus. The wine service was surprisingly limited for something called the "Generous Pour." We received approximately 3-ounce pours and were never once asked if we would like another pour of a wine we enjoyed. One person in our party drank no wine at all, while several of us skipped wines or left wine in our glasses that was cleared away. After receiving our $1,000+ bill--which we paid along with a 20% tip--two guests asked for another pour of the Cabernet to enjoy with dessert. Our waiter said he had to "check with the manager." The manager came to our table and told us they had 'opened eight bottles of wine for us' and asked how we were all getting home--as though the number of bottles the restaurant had opened to serve six different wines was a measure of what our table had actually consumed. We were stunned. We actually found ourselves explaining our transportation arrangements--who was using Uber and that one person in our party hadn't consumed any alcohol at all. Nothing about our table or anyone's behavior suggested that this intervention was warranted. If there was a limit on the Generous Pour, that should simply have been explained when the additional Cabernet was requested. Instead, our entire table was made to feel as though we'd done something inappropriate by asking for another pour at an event specifically marketed as the "Generous Pour." This wasn't about wanting unlimited wine. It was about hospitality and how eight guests spending more than $1,000 plus a 20% tip were treated. The food was very good, but the service--and particularly the manager's handling of the situation--left such a poor impression that we won't be returning. read more

This was my first time at Capital Grille and everything was phenomenal -- from the food to the staff, our entire experience was extremely memorable. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Capital Grille - it was my first fancy adult meal I had back as a baby lawyer interviewing for my big law firm job and I remember being awed by the lush steakhouse atmosphere and the incredible Caesar salad (and also freezing my tush off, it was in Minneapolis in the dead of winter). We originally wanted to sit at the bar and, despite calling and checking OpenTable online, were told they have their own waitlist and check-in, which basically entailed just showing up, giving your name to the bartender, and waiting for spots to open up. We ended up going with one of the tables which worked out fine. My favorites of the things we ordered: - Creamed spinach. It's one of those things that give me a stomach upset because of how much dairy it contains but I will eat it anyway and suffer the consequences later. Capital Grille's iteration is incredible. - Roasted mushrooms. Loved the variety of mushrooms, though everything was doused in oil/butter and was hard to eat more than a few helpings. - Scallops and lobster risotto. A sumptuous, stick-to-your-ribs dish perfect for cold weather. - Creme brûlée cheesecake. The crackly sugar crust on top was the best part. They do put the calorie counts on their menu which is always a bit of a shock but do what you will with the information. Free parking. read more

We had a 7 PM reservation at Capital Grille in Burlington for a special evening with four couples. Unfortunately, we weren't seated until nearly 7:30, and our party of eight was squeezed into a table better suited for six. The service was very poor. We received one menu for 8 people and when we asked for more menus, it took two requests. Our waiter did not have a good grasp of English. The "Generous Pour" wine program didn't meet expectations. There was no asking of which wines we wanted of the six offered. The unwanted white wine was not consumed generally and the red's serving size was about 3 oz. When we asked for more at the end, the check had already been dropped and the waiter made himself scarce. We had all made arrangement with 4 of us staying at the nearby Marriott and all taking ubers. The manager said we'd already had seven bottles, which was disappointing, especially since much of the white wine was poured out without being wanted, and no one was intoxicated. The dessert was a highlight, genuinely excellent, but the steaks, while fine, weren't memorable. For the prices charged,( our table's bill was over a thousand dollars and we begrudgingly tipped 20%), we expected better service and attention. Took my mother here for her birthday. It's a very classy establishment and if you're celebrating a birthday they take care of you. They decorated the table with confetti, gave a complementary dessert, and took your photo which they put inside of a card. While this aspect of the dinner was nice, I wasn't impressed with the food. This is the type of place where you purchase your meat and sides are extra. My steak was okay, but the lobster mac and cheese wasn't very good. I did enjoy the spinach and the clam chowder however. I just felt like I've had just as good of meals for less of a price at other steakhouses. The waiter also tried to sell dessert to us instead of giving us the birthday ones. I had read online prior to the dinner that they give birthday desserts so I caught it... but I figured this was to make the bill higher... You want to dress nice here. They treat you with a few specials if you tell them it's your birthday. They decorate the table with confetti and give you a birthday card which I thought was sweet! So the menu is that you order your meat, whether chicken, steak, etc.... Then you order vegetables or other foods like spinach, mashed potatoes and lobster macaroni and cheese, just as a few examples, for the sides. So this makes the bill expensive. Then there are alcohol or soda drinks. We started with their assortment of breads which was good. Then had clam chowder which was also a hit! I ordered the steak with a sauce that came with mushrooms and small onions that was delicious! My daughter ordered a plain steak that didn't have any taste. We ordered the spinach and lobster Mac and cheese as sides. To be honest, the lobster Mac and cheese was too expensive for what they give you and not too tasty. My drink was very good. Then you get complimentary small deserts for your birthday. I read a review where you get some desert, but the waiter gave us the menu to choose from. If my daughter didn't ask, I don't know if he would have told us. They were very good but small! Then the last perk for my birthday was a picture that they put in a card to take home. I liked that too! All in all, a great experience but not a place to come on a regular basis because of the price. But you need to come for the experience, especially on your birthday! The capital grille is always a treat. This location in particular has hands down the most attentive servers. They truly go the extra mile to make sure you are completely satisfied. The restaurant is dimly lit and the decor is typical of all Capital Grilles. It's a perfect date night atmosphere particularly in the smaller rooms off the main dining room. The food is cooked to perfection every time. I have thoroughly enjoyed the sliced filet, veal chop, tuna tartare, burrata and crème brûlée. I don't think you could go wrong with any of their entrees. Parking is easy, large lot in front and valet available. They can get busy and a reservation is probably best on the weekends. If you happen to be celebrating something special, let them know and they add a little extra touch. Prices are that of a five star meal, well worth it. read more

Booked in an industrial area I found this place a mile away. I sat at the bar which was ideal for dining alone. My steak was tender and hot with not a drop of excess fat. This is the place to go on a hot day, the AC was cool inside. I stopped by early on a Friday, 11:45 am to be exact. Has large parking lot. I was alone so I chose to sit at the bar that was pretty open. That's when I met Noel, who offered me bread and got me a drink. He was very personable and attentive. He was also busting his butt in getting prepped for what I expect them to have a busy night. Fresh orange juice and grapefruit in those drinks people that he squeezed himself! He also remembers your name!! I saw around and watched some of the sports TV. I got a cup a clam chowder ($13) that was good. I think my favorite part was really the experience with Noel and his service. He makes you feel seen and welcomed and in no rush. Actually sad to see you go. I would give 85% of my experience 5 stars, but..... The food, in general, was terrific. My lamb chops were cooked to perfection, just as I had ordered. They were even delicious today when I reheated them for lunch! A huge portion. A companion's steak was perfectly cooked and perfectly delicious! All of the sides - Brussels Sprouts, Mashed Potatoes, Wild Mushrooms (although I'm not sure they were THAT wild), and Creamed Spinach - were simply delicious. Perfectly cooked, seasoned and served. The breads were great; the lahvosh cracker bread sent me to search for it online and, finally, for a recipe so I can make it at home. There were two problems, however, and both were significant enough to warrant the removal of a star, in my opinion. The Oysters Rockefeller Style were served tepid, warm in one or two bites, but more tepid than warm with a couple of bites cold. The filling was salty, very heavy with the taste of the cheese; it overpowered the other flavors. Maybe a lot less cheese in the filling itself with a sprinkle on top and the oyster would be perfect. If served warm, of course.... The glaring disappointment was the Coconut Cream Pie. It should be totally revamped. First, although the crust was delicious, it was not a flaky crust; it was more like a tart crust, more like the sugar cookie served along with the "pie." But that alone would have been fine if there was any "coconut cream" in the coconut cream pie. I took it apart only to find a thin wad of something that I guess was supposed to be pastry cream just on top of the crust? I'm not sure. It was a smear of a pudding-like filling. But it was firm; it did not have the texture of pudding. I neither saw nor tasted any coconut anywhere. The dessert looked gorgeous, a huge pile of real whipped cream, but it was all fluff, no substance, so to speak. It would be immeasurably improved if the chef would make a good pastry cream, add some coconut to it (either toasted or untoasted, or a combination) and pile that onto the tart-like crust. When I say pile, in the world of elegant desserts that this restaurant serves, I use the word loosely. About a half inch of the filling would go a long way; three-quarters filling and less whipped cream would be dynamite! You rarely see coconut cream pie on a restaurant menu; it is an old fashioned dessert. That is part of the reason people look forward to it. There still isn't one as far as I am concerned. If this restaurant changed this offering to reflect more of the original, it would have a real and rare and welcome find! Would I go back to the restaurant? Of course. The food is outstanding. The service was outstanding, also. Our waiter, whose name I am sorry to say I have forgotten, was perfect, and every person who visited our table was thoughtful, efficient and kind. We were relaxed in a comfortable room with the meal served at a leisurely pace, and the staff took every step to make our experience wonderful. read more

Walking in the door liam, The Host is extremely kind and uplifting. You instantly feel comfortable after being greeted by him. We were blessed to have James as our waiter. His positivity attitude great smile and amazing personality is infectious! When is extremely knowledgeable on what is served at this establishment. If you don't know if you like something he will literally bring you a few samples of what you're looking at to make sure you get just what you're looking for. Food was excellent. Ordered a couple apps and a couple steaks. Service was OK. The only other Capital Grille I've been to was the one in Boston. Ambiance was meh. This place location was huge and, at times, felt like a cheesecake factory. It was a Saturday evening but it was a weird mix of dudes in baseball caps and couples dressed to the nines. Very loud but some of the problem might have been where we were seated. We were 2 people at a 4 top, and all the parties in our section were 4 or more clearly celebrating something, so we kind of felt neglected. Drink order took a while to place and the apps came out before the drinks. At that point I started feeling petty and purposely left some big, obvious crumbs and straw wrappers crumbled on the tablecoth to see if anyone scooped it up. They didn't. By contrast, we've been to Davios and Pellana several times and the service is much better/attentive. Pellana, however, is much smaller and seemingly more staffed--and never leave a crumb behind! I guess if I'm spending $150/person I want it to feel like it, not just have the steak be good. I'd probably give it 3.5 but the valet situation was stupid. It's a small but ample parking lot. The valet, however, had 2/3 of the lot coned off. It's literally a 15 second walk end to end across the lot. I didn't need a valet! (As evidenced by all the valet spots being empty and people fighting over the non-valet). read more

I recently celebrated my 70th birthday, and requested a nice quiet dinner. My husband made reservations at Capital Grill, requesting Amy, the server, as we heard wonderful reviews of her talent. I had the Tomahawk Veal Chop, and my husband had the Rib Eye, with sides of Au Gratin potatoes, sautéed spinach and grilled asparagus. The veal and Rib Eye were cooked to perfection and the sides were all better then expected. Our experience was above and beyond what I had expected. Little did I know, my husband had informed Amy of my birthday. When we arrived, the table was set up celebrating my special day, making our experience extra special. Came here for Dine Out Boston (2024) and I absolutely loved it! The field green salad was huge and I loved the dressing. Then for my entree chicken and I was not disappointed. Double chicken breast over a risotto with mushrooms. The flavor was wonderful and the chicken was sooooo juicy. It also comes with mashed potatoes (my favorite) and we chose asparagus as a replacement for the creamed spinach. Then for dessert I got the crème brûlée, everyone was sad they didn't pick that one after they took a bite of mine. Definitely get the crème brûlée because it was creamy and decadent, the cheesecake was good too. We visited the Capital Grille on a Wednesday night but it was super packed - most likely because of restaurant week. We had a 6:45pm reservation but was not seated until 7:00pm. My partner and I both ordered the field greens as a starter, 8oz filet mignon as our entree with lobster tail, and I ordered the flourless chocolate cake while he ordered the crème brûlée. The bread basket was disappointing but the rest of the meal was absolutely amazing! The steak was delicious and the two sides that came with it - mashed potatoes and cream spinach, was so good!
