    - Avoid This Location! Do not trust this location, even if employees claim it is under "new…read moremanagement." I was previously assured that the predatory culture here was fixed, but my recent experience proved that the systemic deceptive practices are still fully active under the current manager, Christian. I came in to have a light inspected and my bottom oil skid plate secured. Instead of doing their jobs, manager Christian and technician Eric completely withheld standard care and acted like my light didn't have an issue until I paid them a cash tip. Only after money changed hands did they suddenly look at my light, but they then attempted to manufacture a completely fake light issue that didn't exist to scam me. When I pointed out the actual, specific light concern, they inspected it and claimed it needed to be fixed. I watched them fix it but still question whether it needed to be fixed. In addition, they engaged in a total bait-and-switch pricing scam. They claimed they would "do me a favor" and apply that 20 dollars toward the light service charge. In reality, they were overcharging me. When I pointed out I knew how much the light cost he made up an excuse for over charging me and corrected the invoice. When I directly confronted them for attempting to take advantage of me, manager Christian and Eric met me with total silence, and rushed me through the rest of the process to push me out the door as fast as possible. In their haste to move me along, they completely failed to provide me with an invoice. This goes way beyond poor customer service--this is intentional consumer fraud, extortionary tipping tactics, and financial manipulation overseen directly by the store manager. I have filed formal complaints with Valvoline Customer Care requesting escalation to Corporate. I am prepared to escalate this matter further if not addressed. Avoid this shop at all costs! Or it will Cost you!

We usually go up to the Carmel Mt. location but decided to head over to Scripps Ranch since my son was working over that way and wanted to bring him some food. The staff and service was great! I had a middle brake light replaced and it wasn't easy but the guy was so nice and patient (I felt bad because it is tricky to get the bulb out, but he had no issue and said no problem at all!) My truck is a bit older so most of the services we got I felt were needed and would help me keep my truck longer. I have changed filters and a few things on my own in the past but this go round was easier to have them handle everything. Cost wise for most I do not think was bad. Only thing we passed on was a new battery. I was able to get at Costco for about $100 less. Usually we are in and out in 15 minutes but this go round took about 45 minutes to an hour with everything. Not bad. I did have a coupon for the oil change which saved a bit. They used to have a 20% off of services but I could not find this time (would have been nice since we spent over $600). Last time we went to CMR location and had stuff done on our other car they gave us the discount even though we did not have the coupon. Only issue here is they did not offer that. Both locations have been great and I would go back to Scripps location again if in the area for sure.

I can't wait, after searching and getting quotes on Yelp, I based my selection on credible positive reviews and chose Phan Auto Repair shop in Mira Mesa. I usually go to bigger established shops, but sometimes those shops are notorious for being dishonest about parts and labor costs $$$$. And every time I take my car to a dealer for repairs, they want to buy my current car and sell me a new car, which is their mission, other than overcharge. This shop is in Mira Mesa, not fancy by any means: the waiting area was very dirty, no air conditioning, and not enough space as the seats were crammed up. My objective was to drop off my car for brakes repair and dash out. There were 3 guys working at Phan, I spoke to Dave and Lai. I had previously texted via Yelp and their response was faster than their competitors, in fact a shop across the street quoted me $300-$400 more!! They answered all my questions, concerns and after 4 hours, installed OEM brake routers, pads and sensors on my MBZ. During that time, I took a Lyft to UTC and watched a 3 hrs movie: Odyssey, had lunch and shopped. Shortly thereafter, I got a call saying my car was ready. Upon paying, I made sure my receipt clearly included a warranty. Be aware there is a 3% fee if you pay with a credit card. But I was glad new brakes routers, pads and scensors were installed at a reasonable price. Thanks to Yelp and Yelpers reviews about this shop. Glad there is no brake squeak and will keep my fingers crossed about this recent brake work as I had an overall positive experience from this great shop Phan's Auto Repair.

He was very knowledgeable, professional, humble, kind, and took the time to explain everything step by step. The whole team knew what they were doing, worked cleanly, and stayed well-coordinated throughout the service. They completed everything correctly, topped off the fluids, explained the process clearly, and the price was good. You can also go on the website and get a $15 discount coupon. Overall, I had a great experience and I don't see any issues. I would definitely recommend this location.

One year ago we discovered that Valvoline installed a battery that was too small, even though they invoiced me for the larger battery. After a lot of back and forth, they finally agreed to replace. Then, while doing the replacement they broke one of the attachments to the battery. A headache. Second car: Again, Valvoline replaced the battery about two years ago. After taking the car to a reputable mechanic for some issues, we again learned that Valvoline installed a battery that was too small for the car. I did not write a review the first time, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Now I can only conclude that this is their practice.
