Any competent mechanic knows the battery must be disconnected before working around the shifter and airbags. He failed to do that. As a result of his negligence, both side airbags deployed and both seat belts were damaged. One of the airbags slammed into my back and caused a serious injury. I had to go to the emergency room, which cost me a lot of money and pain. Instead of taking responsibility, he completely lost it and kept saying it wasn't his fault. He then had the nerve to say he could install new airbags and seat belts, but I had to buy the parts and pay him labor -- after HE caused the damage. He kept bragging about having "30 years of experience" and being a "trainer," which is honestly laughable given what happened. At first, he agreed to cover the costs. Then he started stalling for over a month, telling me "tomorrow" every single day. At one point, he claimed a family member had died -- and I later saw in his reviews that he told another customer the exact same story. Eventually, he avoided me completely because he didn't want to touch the car again, likely afraid he'd damage it further. He sent one of his workers instead, who couldn't fix anything. I ended up hiring an attorney and taking legal action. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a mechanic. Completely irresponsible, dishonest, and dangerous. Avoid at all costs.

I can't recommend European Autocare and One Stop Shop highly enough…read more I was first introduced to European Autocare when AAA towed my Porsche Cayenne there after a strange issue where the audio system kept shutting down and draining the battery. The AAA driver recommended the shop, and I'm so glad he did. George, the owner, is a genuinely kind and honest gentleman. He spent about 20 minutes carefully diagnosing the problem and told me, very transparently, that it wasn't something his shop could fix--that I would need to go to the dealer for a replacement part. He didn't charge me a dime for his time. That level of honesty is rare. Since then, I've been going to him for regular maintenance on my older vehicle, and every experience has been excellent. The team is consistently professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. Pricing has always been fair--no pressure, no upselling, and absolutely no price gouging. Recently, I needed help with a bumper issue on another car and found out George also runs a body shop in San Marcos. Even though they're normally closed on weekends, he made a special exception to meet me there. When I asked if I could pick up the car at his Rancho Bernardo location after the repair, he didn't hesitate to accommodate. On top of that, my car was extremely low on gas, and he told me not to worry about it--he'd take care of it so I could get back without any issues. That kind of above-and-beyond service truly earns lifelong customers. It's rare to find an auto shop that combines honesty, skill, fairness, and genuine care for customers. Two recent experiences. First a 2017 Mercedes 320E $1,900. 14 Days…read more An Active Light was replaced. The replacement took 10 days. Two weeks. I was disappointed Johnny did not point out the hood was scratched, so I had to go to the owner, George to get that repaired. The repair took a long time for a simple item then the car was damaged. When I complained they were not easy to deal with. Repair #2 Valve Gasket Covers on my 2005 ML500 $780. The job was done in less than a day, but when the car came back it smelled of gas so badly I called European Auto Care back but was advised they would not be able to review the problem for at least a week. The recently repaired valve cover still leaks, my new mechanic found a stripped screw among the at least five (5) loose screws - whilst re-securing the cover. European Auto Care needs to address some important issues.

A potential buyer for my car scheduled a pre-purchase inspection with Mike. I fully understand my car (a 2011 model) was not perfect -- far from it. However, after about 30 minutes of inspecting the car, Mike proceeded to speak very negatively about it, both to me and the potential buyer. He pointed out every possible flaw (some real, some exaggerated) in a rude, unprofessional, and almost aggressive manner. He never mentioned a single positive thing, just an endless list of problems, delivered with unnecessary negativity. He didn't even provide a written report -- it was all verbal, which made it even less professional. I understand a mechanic's job is to point out issues, but Mike's approach felt less like an honest evaluation and more like a mission to completely scare the buyer away. He even irresponsibly used the word "salvage" -- a serious accusation that was completely unfounded. Later that same day, a different buyer looked at the car and took it to a different mechanic, who disagreed with about 80% of Mike's claims. In fact, I ended up selling the car that same day to the new buyer, who paid my full asking price after a reasonable inspection elsewhere. While I was fortunate in the end, the horrible experience dealing with Mike left a very bad impression. I can't speak for his skills as a mechanic, but based on his behavior, I seriously question his professionalism and integrity.

This was a big job and I was nervous about the outcome because I didn't know John. The price was very fair. Less than a week later, I received a message that my van was ready for pickup. My wife and I were pleased with the smoothness of our van and to have all of the problems we had with the old engine gone. It has now been a year or close to a year since the engine replacement. Since then John has serviced all of our vehicles. We have been pleased with every job he has done for us and especially appreciate his integrity that allows us to contact him if we detect anything wrong with the repair. We've never had to contact him, but pleased with knowing he takes full responsibility for his repairs. For the last month, I've been driving my Toyota Avalon around scorching hot San Diego with no air conditioning. I took it to a nearby Honda service center only because they were closer to where I live. They quoted me over $1900 to replace the compressor and some other parts. This included labor. I brought my Toyota Avalon to John last night not expecting him to do anything until the next day. That same night, John texted me the fantastic news that he didn't believe my car needed a compressor, but was in desperate need of freon. John wanted to keep it overnight to see if he could detect any leaks. This morning, John contacted me to pick up my car! For the first time in over a month, my car felt like the North Pole. Instead I had to take it to the nearest auto shop which was Midas in the sports arena area. I left my car at Midas for them to diagnose. I received a call the next day with a diagnostic of what was wrong with my vehicle. $700 later and about a half a mile away from the auto shop that "fixed " my car, it broke down AGAIN in the exact same way it had done so the night before. I called Max and he had an idea of what the problem could be. I got my car towed there this morning and within three hours Max called to let me know my car was ready. What he predicted was correct. Midas replaced two parts (one that was perfectly ok and didn't need to be fixed) but neither that solved the root problem of my car. Now, I may end up on Judge Judy fighting for my $700 back from Midas! Thank you Max for the great work you ALWAYS do! I appreciate tour promptness and reliability!

In October 2025, I brought my Mercedes to IAS for an exhaust manifold replacement. When I picked it…read moreup, I found one of their tools still in mu engine compartment which should have been a sign. Everything was fine until I went to get my tires changed in March 2026. Three of my wheels came off with no issue but the one wheel that IAS had to take off to replace the exhaust manifold was severely over torqued. When I called to ask about this, they told me they didn't even have record of having my exhaust manifold replaced- they told me the only had a record of having my turbo replaced (which was never done). They also told me that the wheel was torqued to manufacture specification, however, no other shop or person worked on my car after IAS. I'm conflicted because it seems like they are capable of quality work but forget or slip up on the basics.
