We celebrated our anniversary here and, boy, did they treat us well! Had half price wine and appetizers at the bar during happy hour and Amy kindly gave us a round of drinks on the house when she found out it was our anniversary. We were then seated at a nice window table and Chelsea, our waitress, continued with great service. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and the green beans were delicious! I held a rehearsal dinner at the Caroline over Labor Day Weekend 2012 for around 40 people. The food, presentation, room set up and service was second to none. Our server Doug was just outstanding and anticipated our groups' needs and his protege Chelsea was also excellent. It's nerve racking enough planing an event like this, in hopes of wowing your guests, but knowing that everything is under control and will be well executed goes a long way for piece of mind. I have never had a bad experience at The Caroline. I have been there for working dinners (complete with video projectors), Christmas dinners (staff and family), date nights, cocktails, lunches, and of course, the brunch buffet. The buffet has been postponed until September, but we will be the first ones there when it opens. So much food and selection, and kids under 5 eat the brunch for free! You must order the Kahlua strawberries for dessert. So simple, but so delicious! The wait staff is welcoming and engaging, and the restaurant itself is well-decorated and always clean. the Caroline is one of two of our favorite places to eat lately. They have the best and I mean best Rueben sandwich we have ever eaten and the sweet potatoe fries are soooo good. My husband and I truly enjoy eating at the Caroline. We go frequently and really like sitting at the bar and talking to old friends and meeting new ones. Colin and Heather, the bartenders always do a great job and are lots of fun. The food is always great and we have never had a bad meal. Very classic looking elegant restaurant. I went there to celebrate my birthday looking for a classic steakhouse with a bit of class. After reading the yelp reviews I felt this was a good fit and I wasn't disappointed. The prices are reasonable for a higher end steakhouse. The have a chef made feel to the menu and very interesting sides, ea. Bourbon mushrooms. They have a full bar and although I can't speak to the whole menu the orders my table placed everyone was satisfied. Definitely worth a look. read more

In Troy for business and stopped in for lunch today. Very nice atmosphere and staff as well. I ordered The Caroline Salad which included mixed greens, dried cranberries, walnuts, apples, bleu cheese crumbles. maple vinaigrette on side (surprising very tasty dressing. The "maple" had me a bit nervous.). Overall, the salad was present well and the added grilled chicken made for a very satisfying lunch. I went here with my husband and his parents and we sat on the outdoor patio on a very nice evening. We ordered a couple of appetizers but especially liked the Ahi tuna. My mother-in-law and I both ordered the the house steak and my father-in-law ordered a chicken dish. We were all very happy with our meals. My husband ordered the the boneless ribeye and it did not seem very fresh. Our server said that it had not been frozen, but it was definitely not as good as mine which was quite a bit less expensive. He did really like his mac and cheese with pork belly side dish though. read more

I'll give The Caroline 3 stars for the drinks and bread. I ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer, weren't impressed. The texture was stringy and taste was lacking. For my entree, I ordered the Southwestern Pasta Alfredo which I'll give a 2/5. I also ordered the Latke Potatoes with the Sriracha sour cream, it lacked flavor. It's just an overrated hash-brown. The Punch cocktail and bread was delicious! All in all, I would say it's a one time visit for me. read more

We made reservations for our anniversary dinner. No mention by anyone during the course of our 40-minute (yes, drinks, 3 courses and out in 40 minutes) dinner. I've never had a side dish (which I had to pay a premium prices for 5 small spears of asparagus!) so poorly prepared. Had to ask for drinks and bread basket multiple times. My husband became ill as soon as we returned home (about a 30-minute drive) from the badly cooked Brussell sprouts. Terrible experience. I hit social media to notify people in my circle. I found this little gem on the Square in Troy while on my travels. Ordered the special burger and crab mac n cheese. The burger was presented on a bed of spinach which I loved (no bun) and was delicious. The crab mac n cheese was super creamy, made with penne pasta, and was AMAZING. I have a soft spot for seafood mac n cheese and have tried MANY versions on my travels this one tops my favorites list. The staff was super attentive and friendly. Went in tonight and ordered the filet Chef Special. Paid 32.00 for an over cooked steak. Sent it back once as overcooked. (Deep black (really black) grill marks) and brown center--ordered medium rare. 2nd one was seared on flat top and came out medium. Paid and left Sides were on plate throughout the recook and were cold when the plate came back out. There were many 15 people in the restaurant at 6:30 on a Saturday Night. Could probably give a higher rating if the service would have been better. Slow, but tolerable. I order a filet medium. Steak was cooked well done, I did not eat it. When finally asked by server, how everything was, she agree that the steak was too well done. She apologized and left, (I assumed she was ordering me a properly prepared steak). she came back a good 20 minutes later with the check and asked if I wanted a box, really? I wanted a new steak. No compensation at all. My dog got a $25 steak. Keep in mind, the steak was not bad, it would have been very good for a customer that like it well done. Won't go back or recommend. read more
