I ordered dinner from The Catch. Shrimp PoBoys and salad. While waiting for my order, I just observed business, the waiter assisting with orders to go and in house orders seemed very personable and was checking all orders before you leave. The poboy and salad wrre average in taste. The Poboy needs some type of seasoning, spice, roumalade, tartar sauce. It needs some type of flavor. The salad was wimpy. The salad might have been wimpy because of Hurricane Harvey and delayed deliveries. Maybe I will rry it again in a few months. read more

What a difference a month makes. Yikes guys. Pretty sure temp on grease was very low because instead of being crispy, all our fried items were literally dripping with grease. For example, we ordered fried pickles. The pickles at the bottom were under a layer of grease from the ones above them. My main course (catch 22 with cheese grits) wasn't any better. This is the most disgusting, unclean establishment I have ever been to. You can smell the old oil when you open the door, and the food all tastes like it was cooked together as well. I saw a server/bus-person "clean" a table with a towel that came out of a dirty bucket. The ketchup bottle had bubbles in the bottom, a clear indication of filling new ketchup on top of old, which is a disaster waiting to happen. I will never eat here again. I ordered grilled catfish. Food took forever to get to our table and when it arrived, it was barely warm. I ate one filet and took the other filet home and promptly put it in the refrigerator. The next day, I warmed up the fish for lunch. I ate about half of the filet mindlessly before looking down at the next piece I was putting in my mouth. Much to my surprise, I saw a long white tubular thing wriggling and crawling back into the bite I was about to consume. I dropped it, spit out what was in my mouth and began to search the rest of my food for worms. The remaining filet did in fact have a worm poking out of it. I immediately called an urgent care facility and was advised to go to the hospital to be testing for parasites. I got in contact with The Catch and the general manager was consistently calling me a liar without actually calling me a liar. She advised that from that point on, she would have someone else above her contact me. I went to hospital and was given a 900$ prescription for anti parasitic medication. I didn't have insurance at the time. When I was finally called back, the guy I spoke with tried to tell me that was I saw was a vein in the catfish. When I explained to him that I had to be tested for worms, he wasn't very sympathetic. I told him that I would need for them to pay for my medical bills. He basically laughed at me. Any way you look at it, they all tried to call me a liar or insult my intelligence by trying to tell me what I know I saw wasn't actually what I saw. read more

The food here is incredible. My wife's family is Cajun and this place is truly authentic. The gumbo is probably the top gumbo in the area. The fish tacos were so fresh I thought I was in the Gulf. They have one of the best crawfish Po boys I have ever had. My wife and I stopped in here reluctantly because of our experience with Cajun food in the area but OMG this place beats the waders off everyone. This WAS one of my favorite restaurants since I moved to Houston. I would come here about 3-5 times a month and get crab legs and it usually taste delicious. However, today I ordered a half a pound of snow crab legs, mild full house. Now, mind you I live about 25 minutes away from the restaurant. I get there get my food and go home. When I got home, I opened it up and the food doesn't even look how it normally does. And then I taste it and it taste very plain, which is something I can do in my own kitchen. So I called up to The Catch and I told, who I found out later was the manager, that it doesn't taste how it usually does and she basically was going back and forth with me saying that she looked at it and it was the right color, it's the sauce I chose, blah blah blah.. I told her I order the same thing each time so I know why it normally taste like , but she didn't even really care about what I was saying. So I had someone else call up there for me to see if the issue could be rectified and she said I could come up there and get another order. So that's another 25 minutes all the way to the restaurant. I get there and the manager seems like she doesn't want to be there and even had little cups showing me what usually comes in the sauce. And I point out that there is absolutely no garlic or seasoning in my food and it looks like it was just put in butter. She acknowledged that there was no garlic, but proceeds to tell me that she talked to her GM and that they will give me another meal THIS TIME, but they won't do this again even though the mistake was on their end. Like I said, I come here 3-5 times a month and they usually have awesome customer service. I don't know what happened today, but they treated me as if I was lying first off, which I wasn't because I even brought basically the whole order back to them uneaten. And second, she just seemed like she didn't want to be there. Maybe you guys need to train your managers again or something. I work in the food industry as well and we would never treat our customers how I was treated today. Even when the customer is trying to get over on us unfortunately, which was not the case today. This is such an amazing place! They have a large variety of food to choose from and a wonderful staff. We never have to wait long for our food to come out and it's always hot and fresh. Although the clam chowder is not New England style, it's still yummy! I have two favorites and can never decide between the two...fried shrimp and catfish! Their quality is declining. First, the host is not very organized and the wait took longer than it should. Next, the food came out rushed. It was either not prepared well, greasy, or burnt. This place had a really good concept and food. They need to really to take a step back and see where their business is going. For instance, learn how to deal with a the dinner rush. Where to go on a Saturday night for dinner in the Humble area? I can recommend The Catch on Atascocita Road as excellent non chain option, but it's not your typical Saturday night dinner experience. Some things we discovered on our visit: 1) There is no hostess, no wait staff, you don't sit down, order a drink, an appetizer etc. Here you walk up to a counter, order your food from the giant menu in the sky, pay for everything (including a tip), and go sit down. It's an odd experience outside of the fast food environment. 2) The menu is cajun flavored, seafood centered and fairly extensive. Seafood can be ordered fried or grilled. There is a bar, with bottled (and some draft) beer and actual cocktails (not wine-a-rita's). 3) The food that we tried was excellent. We ordered a small chicken and sausage gumbo for an appetizer, it was rich, dark, a little spicy and delicious. I had fried fish and shrimp with a side of red beans, she had the shrimp and grits. Every bit of what we were served was excellent - fresh, tasty, just right amount of spice. Really our food was top rate. The fact that it was served on paper plates added to the oddness of the experience. 4) It's not cheap. If we had been at a sit down restaurant, with all the typical advantages of that kind of experience (a waiter, water delivered, the ability to order a to go plate from our table, actual plates, offers of a refill etc), I would say it's moderately priced, for our dinner plus a margarita (with a Big Red stuck in it - strangely delicious) for her and a beer for me, our bill was $50 before tip. 5) The folks that work there are friendly and helpful. If you are ok with the strangeness of the experience and just want really good seafood from a non-chain restaurant, I recommend you give The Catch a try. So I have been to this place since they opened. When they opened, they were fantastic. My only complaint back then was that they did not have a changing table in the restroom. Now, while the food is still good, they must have changed the batter they use to fry the fish, because it's very spicy. I can tolerate it, but I used to be able to give it to my son because he really like their fish, but now there is no way he can eat it because it's too spicy. Of course I can take the breading off (and I do), but I'm just not impressed. The original way was so much better. read more

Our first experience with The Catch. You order at the counter and are prompted to give a tip when you pay although you get no personal service. Your food is served in a plastic basket or on a piece of paper on a tin pizza tray or in an oven cooking bag and you get your own drinks. In addition, the food was nothing amazing. We got to choose from a number of flavor options for the crab legs but in the end it's was just average. We can get personal service, have our drinks refilled without getting up, eat off a real plate and get the same or better quality food at Papa's or Red Lobster at the same price point or cheaper. (Not to mention that we were ignored by staff while they played around behind the counter when we went to ask for a to-go box for our mediocre, overpriced fried fish.) We won't be back....for what they charge it is just not worth it. read more

How can a place with such great food have such a poorly organized way to manage the waiting and ordering lines. The mgrs have no idea what's going on in their own place. They have a sign up sheet that means absolutely nothing. While we waited and waited for our name to be called numerous people came in and got in the order line got their orders and grabbed tables while we watched in disbelief. When I asked the guy with the list why people were bypassing that process he said they were all placing to go orders, BS! I have never seen such an amateurish operation in my life. First time going. My wife and I had an opportunity to try a sampling of their menu. First, the place was clean and casual. Just tables and chairs. You order at cashier and they bring it to you. The food is made to order. The chicken, sausage and shrimp I ordered before meal was delicious. It's had a nice dark roux and not too spicy. A little light on shrimp however. The fried shrimp was very good- hot, not too much breading and very tasty. The red beans and rice as a side dish was also good and you were given a generous portion. Unlike many of these type restaurants where you can only get catfish, thus place also offered whitefish - fried, grilled or blackened. I got it fried; however should have gone with grilled or blackened. Overall, I have no noteworthy complaints. My family and I visited on yesterday. We paid separately for crawfish and when they brought them to the table I had more in mine than my mom and daughter. Well my mom asked the waiter what happened to her 3 lbs so he took them back to the manager. He returned saying well they boiled 6lbs together and she meaning (me) got more than you. My mom politely said well I need my 3lbs that I paid for and that's not good business. He took the crawfish back and asked her if she still wanted the rest. This left me totally confused. Once we were called to be seated, I asked what we need to do. He asked we had ordered, I said no. He said place your order pay for it and pick a table. So we did. I had gotten 1 lb boiled shrimp, sautéed veggies and red beans n rice. My boyfriend a med.chicken tender basket and appetizer of fried cheese sticks. The place was very clean. We got our appetizer it was just like all fried cheese sticks. They just added a little shredded cheese and parsley. My shrimp I ordered mild but mild has no flavor what so ever. So if you want some flavor you may want to go with medium instead. They accidentally brought my boyfriend and child's chicken tender basket but when he addressed the issue they did bring the correct order out. He did like his food as well. Red beans and rice were okay but sautéed veggies could have been sautéed a little longer. I like them to be soft not crunchy. I would go back not sure if I like the order before I seat. We did have a waitress that came a few times to check on us. But if you want to order something more after you have seated it was explained to us that we would have to go inline an place the order.
