Since it reopened we have been here a total of 5 times in this month of march 2023! We could not wait for The Catch to come back and they came back like they never left! Place is ok if your really craving some crawfish but if you want authentic crawfish this place is terrible. They do sell them live which is nice. I bought cooked crawfish there twice, the first time I went with their recommended seasoning, it was incredibly buttery and not very good. The next time I went with their traditional seasoning which was bland, no heat and no flavor. Try Seth's lake for creek in quitman if you want true Cajun food or crawfish. read more

Typical storefront type restaurant. The catfish dinner was fine, just took way too long for it to be cooked & delivered. I also ordered the gumbo. It was too spicy hot and not like I have ever had in NOLA. If they would tone down the heat, it would be five stars. I noticed that I was the ONLY person inside who ordered it. Pros Taste Menu Variety Ambiance Cons Pricing Restaurant Setup This place is well known in some of the northern parts of Texas and it's finally opened a location out in Garland. I'm not a big seafood person, however I took the time to come check this place out after my cousin mentioned it to me. When we got there we noticed that they had some of the menu items on a small piece of paper to look over. There were also menu items at the register to look over. There was some slight explanation needed for the menu items but once you understand you can get a better picture of all that they offer. The Ambiance of the location was very nice as well, playing golden oldies from the 50s and 60s, and some blues music. It definitely caters to the older demographic of people, but its nice to listen to while eating. Lastly, the taste was great and very flavorful, they also provide condiments at each table for you to adjust to your taste buds preference. On the negative side there was not much to be said only a few pointers for the flow of traffic and making the layout easier. As with most seafood the pricing is higher than typical food places. So there's no dollar menu or many items under the 7.99 mark that will leave you full. However, every penny is worth it so bring some cash if you do go! The layout of the restaurant is a bit confusing as the register to order is actually at the back of the place. You have to walk through all of the tables and people eating to order your food, and then through them again to find a seat or go and get a drink in the back of the building. Flipping these would make for an easier transition but hey, a little bit of extra exercise isn't always a bad thing. Overall this is a great place and a good addition to Garland, hope to see this place continue to grow and build its customer base in the area. Definitely go here! read more

Really no place to wait for patrons. Menu being redone, meant craning neck upward to screen high. Menu in hand would help quite a bit. Fries weren't very hot...and needed seasoning. But they were fried nicely. The hush puppies were good - a little on the sweeter side. A horrible experience with The Catch. Ordered to go through door dash. I paid over $60 dollars for a 5 part order not to mention the service fees, to Only received 1 plate. Yes, one. Both parties are at fault, however after calling the restaurant I got "we are busy and only have two people working". I don't care if you are busy, everyone's busy. What I care about is a $100 dollar order was wrong and there was no apology from the manager, no refund initiated, no partial or credit given, no free food thrown in on my order, and worst of all I received my food 2 hours later cold and soggy and not even recooked fresh. It's nice to finally have a good seafood place close to the house. They are definitely a notch above fast food. When we went there was a line out the door and they were giving away free margaritas! Not sure if that's a usual thing or just a pacification measure since it was so busy. We ordered catfish with fries and hush puppies and a side of fried tomatoes. Taste was right on. I like a good amount of tartar sauce which I was able to get. Our meal was to go so we didn't get to experience the wait staff, but they were treading water fairly well with the small restaurant being so busy. They were having some trouble with orders. Two or three remakes were overheard while we were waiting but they were doing their best under trying circumstances. I've been seeing information about this restaurant on social media lately and decided to try it since I was in the area. I was graciously greeted as soon as I entered and given clear instructions on the ordering process. They also offer free hurricanes to customers which is great! I don't drink so I politely declined. I ordered the blackened shrimp salad-no cheese-with balsamic dressing. I added a side of grilled veggies to add to my salad. Both were reasonably priced. The reason I rated my experience at 3-stars is because of the shrimp. They weren't blackened. They were grilled, not seasoned very well, and a little skimpy. Overall it's a salad I could have made at home. Heck--I have made it at home. Would I order the salad again? DEFINITELY NOT. Would I patronize this restaurant again? ABSOLUTELY. I had a taste for some catfish and decided to try this place out. I ordered the catfish basket, shrimp etoufee, chicken tender meal and jumbo shrimp basket. My normal procedure when trying a new restaurant is to order multiple items so that I can get a feel for the food I tried the shrimp etoufee to start things off. It had a nice flavor and was ver hearty. After a few spoonfuls, I moved on to the jumbo shrimp. The jumbo shrimp were huge, well coated and butterflied. They had a nice flavor and the fries that accompanied the shrimp were seasoned and tasted good. Now, this is where things took a turn for the worst. After eating maybe 6 or 7 shrimp, I started to feel like I was going to throw up. I actually did throw up twice. I tried to settle my stomach as I wanted to try to catfish. I opened it up and I saw 3 of the flimsiest pieces of "catfish" I broke off a few pieces and I still think it was swai and not catfish because it didn't have the catfish flavor. Since my stomach was still quesy, I decided not to eat anymore of this "catfish." Since I can't pinpoint whether it was the etoufee or shrimp that made me sick, I decided to throw it all out, including the "catfish." So, I wasted about 50 bucks on this food.
