I love catfish and have not had the opportunity to try other dishes, but I can confidently say that The Catch sells very good, clean tasting catfish. It comes out to you quickly (under 8 minutes) and steaming hot, and you can substitute the French fries in a fried platter for grits which is awesome because WOW their grits are fantastic. I could probably just have an entire meal of grits. The one hang-up I have about The Catch is that their prices are a little high for the size of the meal. I purchased a regular sized fried catfish basket for $9 and I got one catfish filet. I am not sure if this is normal but I was still hungry after my meal. read more

Ok ignore what it looks like. Even you like seafood, grilled or fried, eat at the Catch. We had shrimp and grits with okra, EXCELLENT! Also whitefish that was as tasty as any Scottish fish and chips. We had lunch here today while traveling home from Marshall Texas. I suppose you could say it looks kinda sketchy from the out side but there were lots of people there eating so we got on line. The wait was short. The employs were all very friendly. We both ordered the white fish basket. The fish was battered and fried perfectly and the huge amount of fries were hot and crispy. The overall appearance inside was definitely crab shack but very clean and kept that way by the employees. The men's restroom was clean and obviously had someone keeping an eye on it. Bang for the buck was good. $21.00 for two meals with drinks. If your ever near Longview Tx. I would recommend this place. It's worth the drive. read more

I wasn't overly impressed. The fried shrimp and fish was great, and they have fresh crawfish. It's hard to knock that. They have free margaritas (frozen) and free PBR on tap with your meals. The portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. The service was ok... average at best. They were busy though. The place in general had a foul odor when I first got there. I took it as just the seafood. After the meal I went to wash my hands. The odor was from some backup in the bathroom. The smell in the front was a mix of seafood and backup. And I'm not sure what others have thought that left reviews that went in the bathroom. Maybe because of what this place is (kind of a cheap, fried / Cajun food) people overlook the bathroom. And maybe that is expected almost. I don't know. But I just ate crawfish. You gotta wash your hands. Anyway, it was a single toilet restroom, cramped, smelled like a backed up greasy sink, and the bathroom supplies and cleaning supplies were just on a large shelf rack in it. Around seafood this really just ruined it for me. The food was good. I just can't get past it. Overall I don't regret the bad rating. There are way better options in the area. read more

Not sure what I was expecting, but I was impressed. We hit this little seafood shack not knowing what we were in for and came away happy as the proverbial clam. Had fried shrimp and catfish; both were excellent. The corn meal battered catfish were prepared absolutely perfectly. Not a thing I would have changed. Shrimp was very good. Better than expected. Seafood is seasoned well. Casual dining, no need to dress up. Adequate portion size and short wait time. Reasonable pricing. My favorite were the fried green tomatoes!! It was good! My husband said the gumbo was a 7.5 out of 10 even though he doesn't usually like seafood gumbo with sausage in it but he enjoyed theirs. My son and I just had some fried shrimp but the breading was good and we enjoyed it. My one suggestion really would be to maybe hold off on putting the Cajun seasonings on the kids meals or have the option given to hold off on it but I don't know their process and it might not be such that they can separate out enough for kids without them going stale if they don't sell them. If you like seafood or don't hate it. This place does it up real nice for you. I chose the gator and split some grilled fish tacos with the wife. My brother in law ordered some spicy mushrooms that I tasted and loved. Everything came to the table as if snapped into existence by a genie. Their prices took it easy on my wallet. I'll to go back because I want tru more of the menu. The place is a bit cramped but if you need more room just go through the drive thru. I got the shrimp and grits. It's a lot of food for what you pay and tasted pretty good too. It was a beautiful day to sit outside. Place was in the busier side and the outside seating was pretty packed so we decided to sit inside. There were some flies buzzing around. I get it: there's food. Definitely was a family atmosphere (kids running around) and was a good experience. Food came out quick too! There are mix reviews on Yelp about if The Catch is better than Dudley's. So I decided to try this place myself. I ordered the Cajun chicken tenders with fries and hushpuppies. The fries were well seasoned with a kick. The hushpuppies had a great unique taste that I would order a basket of them. However, the Cajun chicken seemed to not have any Cajun seasoning so I added seasoning from the table selection. That was the down fall because table seasoning should only be added if not enough from the kitchen (but it seemed to have none). I was really hungry and decided to order the Admirals platter because it had a little bit of everything. Little did I know that platter can feed a family. I like this place a lot , taste and texture! I come to Longview , almost every other month, I have a father in Ore city I visit. And I was here in January, got a to go order, ask for extra cocktail sauce, the young lad said she had put plenty in there (1) , I know this may sound petty, but as a normal, I don't eat a lot of seafood, so I must have my cocktail, I even ask to pay for it , and tell then no tart sauce,but neither happen, Of course I let it slide,but today I ordered same request and the attendant, gave a very pleasant smile and said not a problem, however get back to my room, plenty of Catch up, and tarts sauce, 1 cocktail sauce! I'm new to texas fresh out louisiana so i'm use the food bring good. The Catch food was terrible. I got a fish plate mind you i took my mom and brothers along wit me, but was the only one who had friend fish. I tasted like they had it sitting there for hours and jus served it to me. I had to sit my almost $30 meal to the side and eat from my families it was so bad. I got sick the same night from eating that fish. Great customer service and ambiance. Whatever was wrong wit that fish they need to do better. Now i gotta lay in bed all day wit an upset stomach throwing up. Wife and I ate there last night and the gumbo was some of the best I have ever had. I wish I would have just had that, in a larger portion! I had the fish tacos, she had the shrimp tacos. Both were good, not the best, but good. Had to add spice to it in order to give it more flavor. Overall, it was a good experience. But next time it will full portion of gumbo only! read more

Food is exceptional and Gumbo is Cajun authentic. The atmosphere kinda sucks. It is quite small and noisy. The place deserves a better and larger location and building. It is a popular place so it is almost always busy especially on weekends. Sam's is right behind the place and the whole parking lot is a challenge to get around. They have streamlined ordering and do a good job of handling what can be hordes of people. I try to only get one fried item as my digestive tract feels overloaded if I get fried shrimp, fried french fries, and fried hush puppies, but that's just me. The fried shrimp is awesome. The prices and portions I feel are more than fair. The wait staff are usually smothered and so busy you won't get a lot of attention. Once you get their attention they are usually responsive. This business is quite welcomed in Longview and many people appreciate having some food that is not a national chain. read more

I visited The Catch today, and was about to catch an attitude. First and foremost, please learn to make your patrons comfortable. We asked them to either adjust the fan, or turn it off - and they said no. It makes it stuffy and uncomfortable.... for them. It's freezing in there, and as I looked around, I wasn't the only one that was cold. People were avoiding and sitting away from the front fan, even opting to sit outside in 95°. Sitting outside wouldn't be so bad either, if the outside a/c worked. Or space wasn't taken up by Jersey Mike's guests. We moved outside and dealt with the heat. The lady was okay with us cleaning off the table instead of her. She seemed very lazy, but it was the same lady who refused to adjust the a/c or even just turn down/turn off the fan. Overall, service here is subpar despite our food being out quick. Prices are very expensive for a fast food fish place, expect similar to Dudley's, just more expensive and tastes more blah. Nothing stands out but the coleslaw and red beans and rice we had. We paid about $30 for a meal without a tip (ordered fried catfish, fried crawfish, and shrimp) - would expect that somewhere like Fisherman's Market or Cajun Steamer. A little more at a place like Copeland's, the last two I mentioned are both nearby. Money is better spent there. The catfish fillets are the smallest I've ever seen. Shrimp is huge! Plenty of fried crawfish included in our basket. Free frozen margaritas or beer when we asked for it. It wasn't offered. Nothing special, but something to add to our meal. Sweet tea, a Texas staple, is Community brand and poorly brewed. Just get soda if you're wanting a drink other than alcohol. Overall, I won't be back. They're a new restaurant in town - so I'm gonna see if they can sink or swim.... pun intended. read more

I made my way to this place based on its reviews. It didn't disappoint. I had the fried shrimp. Prices were very reasonable and the portions sizes were good as well. Overall great experience. The only limitations they have is size. Not a very large place at all. Very little room to maneuver if busy. The night I was there it was very busy which was great for the business and speaks to the food being good. Unfortunately getting to the drink machine after ordering required half a dozen "Excuse me and pardon me's" and standing to wait for a table to clear. read more

It's stay at home time during the COVID-19 shutdown, but it's good to support local businesses that are still open. And The Catch does seafood much better than we can at home! Curbside pickup is available, so we used it. The boiled shrimp dinner was excellent, as was the whitefish dinner. The grits are a wonderful side dish. Highly recommended! read more

Our whole and extended family love The Catch. Today 6 of us went after church and once again it was fantastic. 3 of us got the Fried Catfish and Fried Shrimp, 1 got the Fried Whitefish and Fried Shrimp, 1 had the Fried Whitefish and the youngster with us had the Fried Chicken strips. My little family & I were really impressed by The Catch today. I've always loved their grilled shrimp tacos (the BEST) but today they were beyond. We got the last of the crawfish.. sorry everybody.. but it was great. Well seasoned, all huge, best we've had in awhile. What a happy surprise! We thought this would be your typical fast food joint. What we found was delicious food! We shared the admiral platter: catfish, whitefish, shrimp, crawfish, oysters, hush puppies and a mound of fries. Wow. Too much food for two people! And their tartar sauce and coctail sauce was some of the best we've eaten, outside of our own home. Also, free beer/margarita with your food. Another reason to love east Texas!! Loved going there before the Pandemic. Wonderful atmosphere, great food, great service and above all free tap beer. I went there this weekend and was disappointed. The food was awful. The shrimp were tasteless and the vegetables were soaked in oil. They used to have two sides with an order, it is now just one. They have stopped serving free beer. The atmosphere was nothing as before and there were flies. So very disappointed, we really enjoyed going there at one time. It was on our top pick list. I'm from out of town and called them ahead to see if they had TVs to watch the tourney and they accommodated me so I could watch OU get beat woohoo, As for the food it was excellent, combo platter and gumbo. And FREEEEEEE BEEEEER. Food was so good that I got shrimp and grits and red beans and rice to go for dinner. Topped off with banana pudding, talk about a having to loosen up the old belt.
