Small cozy place with attentive service. Black bean soup was fresh and flavorful, topped with a spicy salsa and grilled manchego cheese. Turkey burger did not come with your typical lettuce, tomato, onion toppings. It was just burger, Bistro sauce, and bun. But the patty was well-seasoned and didn't need any fixings. I LOVE this place! The menu is nicely varied in both style and price. However, I have only had a couple of selections because their specials are always so compelling. I have had many terrific meals here and have not repeated dishes once. They have a nicely varied and reasonably priced wine and beer list. Absolutely, be sure to leave room for their homemade desserts. You will not be disappointed. One bit of caution: dine early or dine late or be prepared to wait. The dining room is fairly small, which adds to the charm, but is does make it difficult to get in during a rush. By the way, they get a crowd every night so my advice applies even on Monday and Tuesday. This place is easy to pass by. They are located in a building away from the rest of the restaurant district that appears more likely to house a Realtor. I did pass by for many years. I sure am glad that I stopped. read more

During dinner there were a lot of people who came and went, it's a small place and there were no empty tables. Over the last couple of days, 5 out 5 people I asked where a great place to get crab cakes was, said here. Perhaps I don't know a great crab cake? Phenomenal little place. I admittedly had few expectations walking in since it's kinda in a strange location but don't get me wrong if you're in town this is a definite must try for dinner. I think this is overall, the best restaurant on Solomons. Michelle, Heidi, and Katie are very friendly and helpful. The menu has some really good entrees. The Steak a Poivre is a good cut of beef. The vegetables are perfectly prepared and not overlooked. The desserts are very good. I believe ( with all due respect to very fine and professional people working here) that there is a tendency to try to emulate a very fine restaurant in town. I mean that things could be simplified. There's too much in terms of sauces, ingredients, and complex vegetable sides. Simple asparagus, sautéed zuchinni and spaghetti al burro would compliment the steak , fish, and chicken. I'm very delighted with this restaurant, and for the service and quality it's wonderful. It's romantic. Not expensive. Good service. Just need a simpler menu that excludes some complex combinations of ingredients that don't always work. read more

The Beef Tenderloin Special was perfectly cooked and phenomenal! The best beef tenderloin that I have ever had in a restaurant. The bartender in the lounge was very hospitable and attentive. I really appreciated that they used fresh fruits in their cocktails, rather than using concentrated juice. The wait staff in the restaurant were incredibly friendly and attentive, as well. We went to the area for a quiet weekend and stumbled onto this place while walking around the island. Absolutely delicious food. It would be hard to rank the order but I think the homemade lemon ice cream would be at the top followed closely by the scallop bacon basil pesto appetizer (scallop bbp). We also got the chicken curry wrap and grilled vegetable wrap. Both were filling and delicious! All of this was a great price as well. Did I mention the homemade lemon ice cream!? The best! We were traveling by boat and stopped in Solomans Isl. for overnight. We had heard about this restaurant from fellow boaters and so walked there for lunch. The specials were quite appealing and we ordered the shrimp on a bed of spinach, snow peas, with a chick pea-couscous cake with yellow pepper sauce. Yum!! Also the deserts are home made and innovative. We tried blueberry-sour cream pie and it was delicious. The restaurant is only a short walk from Zanhizer's marina. read more

C and D cafe continues to surprise me with amazing dishes. My husband and 8yo son decided it was dinner out night and it was a treat for all of us. I planned on getting the fried catfish salad, which is a favorite, but went with a shrimp and scallop special-huge tasty scallops and shrimp with a sauce good enough to drink. My husband loved his dinner salad while my son enjoyed kid pasta with parmigiano cheese. For dessert, The Kentucky derby pie was fabulous as was the salted caramel pretzel sundae. Great dinner! This great little cafe rivals any of my favorite restaurants in the city, but with better prices and a cozy atmosphere. read more

This place is a true gem in the Solomons area. We frequent CD Cafe often and it is a very rare occasion when I'm not wowed by the food. The restaurant is small and quaint and the chef creates magic in the kitchen utilizing seasonal and local fare. There are standard items on the menu, each with its own delicious charm but the daily/weekly specials are what keep us coming back as often as we do. The desserts are amazing (if you have room to eat one having just finished one of their very generous portions) and you must try the savory cheesecake appetizer. Talk about "WOW". Our second visit. Good food but not great, but close to the best in Southern MD though. Trout special was tasty but overwhelming with too many strong, different, flavours. A Masterful Merging of Flavors In season you cannot get a seat in CDs Cafe, so tried the off season. We walked in at 5 and were told to relax in the Lounge Next Door, dinner is served at 5:30. The bartender was great, offered us the appetizer menu, recommended some good go togethers with one of their many bottles of local beer. We had the best Coconut Shrimp, lightly breaded in macademia nuts and panko sitting on a bed of mixed greens and a delicious chutney that actually added to the overall dish. 5:30 rolled around and we walked back to the restaurant, grabbed a table and were introduced to the specials. We decided to split the Mahi Mahi on a risotto cake topped with mixed greens, fresh crabmeat dressed with a citrus, sweet light creme dressing. We were served on separate plates what felt like a full meal. The Mahi Mahi was melt in your mouth, the risotto cake had a bit of crunch and the crabmeat was sweet to the palate. This was a winner. We finished with a unique spin on Kentucky Bourbon Pecan pie. This delectable dessert includes 2 scoops of homemade butter pecan ice cream. The first bite revealed the hint of sweet bourbon, creaminess of ice cream and a mixture of walnuts and pecans. The pie filling is mostly nuts and the ice cream brought it all together. You can finish with a nice stroll down the shoreline to burn off the dessert. I rate this a five star dinner with a five star first date!! read more

Stopped in last week with a business colleague, who appreciates fine dining, and he greatly enjoyed the trout special that was on the menu that night. The only negative about CD Cafe is that they do not take American Express. We decided to try out the CD Cafe on the advice of friends and I will say that the meal was quite nice however I can't say the same for the service. The waitress seemed to be spending a LOT of time trying to price out here tickets and not taking care of her customers. We finished our meal and in the hour that we were there we had her attention only once after ordering and that's when the food was served. We waited and watched for almost 30 minutes waiting for an offer for dessert, coffee, more water emu thing but it never came. We finally got our check paid and left. Damned shame too cause I bet the desert would have been great. Prices are way too high for such bad service. We are unlikely to be back. read more

Based on reviews (both virtual and personal) we were eager to give this place a try. The menu looked fantastic, and the entrees delivered to neighboring tables equally so, but unfortunately our appetite overwhelmed our judgment and we ordered both the cheesecake appetizer and the Popeye burger (covered in boursin cheese and spinach). Even for a guy from Wisconsin, this amounted to a little too much cheese. The appetizer was only so-so - I found it a little sweet for my taste - but both burgers were delicious and done to perfection. Sadly, the one-two cheesecake burger punch left us with little desire to explore what promised to be an excellent desert menu. Service was fantastic - friendly and attentive without being overbearing - and despite the small size of the dining space and the lunchtime crowds we did not feel rushed or claustrophobic. All in all, a friendly and casual place with excellent food that we hope to explore further in the future. Just take it from me, and go easy on the cheese. read more
