Awesome! So many restaurants are "organic whenever possible" (What does that even mean? Whenever it's convenient? Whenever it doesn't cost too much?), so I really appreciate that this restaurant has so many 100% organic menu items. I am on a rather limited diet, and they even worked with me to make a custom salad. I often can't eat at restaurants, and it was such a treat to be able to enjoy a meal with my husband. While we eat primarily plant based, we sometimes eat high quality salmon. We were absolutely wowed to find that The Celery served wild Alaskan salmon. This place is new and in my 'hood, so I gave it a shot. Was not disappointed. Had a glass of rosé, on tap, and the Little Salmon Salad, served in a bowl. I'm anti-plate and (like Patrick Mahomes) pro-bowl, so we were off to a good start. The dry wine perfectly complemented the salad. Ingredients were fresh and packed with flavor, from the generous serving of fish, to the golden beets, crispy chickpeas, greens, quinoa and lemon wedge. Organic? Check. Friendly server? Check. Cleanliness? Check. Hot dude in a Vikings sweatshirt working the juicer? Double Check Plus. Fiber? Check (love me some fiber). Left a bit buzzed from the charitable pour, and with my gut feeling gooood. The space itself is huge and bright, but feels spare because it's not crammed with tables, and combined with the veggie mural on the back wall gives off a slightly German industrial vibe. Perfect spot to lunch while watching all the pretty people (and dogs) pass by on Williams. Next visit I'm going to try one of their açaí & smoothie bowls, which looked delicioso. While some have definitely been better than others, the bowls are just soupy. They're also too acidic and lack any texture. There is usually big chunks of ice, as well. I tried an actual smoothie once, and it was good. I have not tried any other dishes from here. I'd say just skip the smoothie bowls, unfortunately. read more

The Celery is a fantastic place to go for healthy eats. I discovered it on a recent Williams Street Stroll. We went in and had multiple bowls, juices and smoothies. Kids enjoyed the Berry Sunny smoothie. I tried the Rain Shadow bowl with chicken and it was fabulous. Everything was organic and delicious. Kitchen is wide open and well kept so you feel comfortable with their prep. Bathroom was clean (always a must for me with kiddies). I saw bike racks outside and a bus stop across the street. The whole decor was welcoming with a nice table and bar stool set up for lunch time eats. Had a great talk with the servers and it was clear they cared about making good food. read more

*This review is not aiming to tear down this new, small business, but hopefully help them improve* I went into The Celery today for my second time to get grain bowls for me and my husband. When I visited for the first time about a month ago, it was clear that an owner or manager was helping at the register, and they knew the ingredients in the food, specifically in their salad dressings. When I went in today, I wanted to order something different than I did last time, so I needed to know about the ingredients again. Both my husband and I are allergic to nuts. I asked the cashier not once, but twice, if there were nuts in the creamy avocado cilantro dressing. She absolutely assured me that there was not. I ordered both bowls and sat down. Once they were ready, a different employee was handing off the bowls, and I wanted to triple check with her that there weren't nuts. Right away she let me know there were absolutely cashews in the dressing. I am glad there was someone working in the shop that was aware of the ingredients, but most people wouldn't have asked a third time. Someone died just yesterday in New York from a very similar situation which is why I asked again. I am very disappointed that this shop's employees aren't aware of what dressings contain the most common allergen in the United States, but even more so with the shop owners for not having that information accessible to customers. There is absolutely no reason that there shouldn't be a sign (at the bare minimum) or preferably an asterisk on the menu to designate what contains nuts and what doesn't. No one would ever assume that an avocado cilantro dressing contains cashews, and most of their other salad dressings do too, but again with no warning whatsoever. In my mind, this is far too dangerous to risk again until they have proper protocols in place. For a restaurant of this style that appears health and diet focused, this really is shocking. I hope they can improve, but I won't be back until then. *update: I spoke with the owner, Matt, and he was very receptive to the situation and has assured that the signage and menus will be updated accordingly. I'm leaving this review in place, so nut-allergic folks know to proceed with caution in the meantime. I hope to visit again in a few months and have a different experience read more
