I havent been here in 20 years so when we went for a congratulatory dinner i was excited. Lisa (?) was SO nice and took excellent care of us, esp since we were a bit party. Its an intimate, romantic place with low lighting and old fashioned decor. I got the pom lemonade - it was tart and refreshing - but my friend let me try her School's Out mocktail and it was INCREDIBLE! I got the lobster bisque - the tableside presentation was an elegant touch and it was creamy and rich - and the flank steak for dinner. One of the top 2 steaks ive ever had. Cooked to perfection. Bread was also tasty! Got the petite choco souffle with the grand marnier anglais. Also perfectly fluffy but my friend got it with the choco sauce and i have to say that one was better. I couldve eaten a bowl of both sauces on their own though. It seemed lively at the bar esp for a thursday, so i know this place is a populat hangout. Definitely go for a special occasion, you wont regret it! I hope to go again soon!

I was only here for drinks. Our curiosity lead us to walk down the stairs to see what's inside. We were at the cafe in the plaza and something drew us to this place lol . Good thing we did cause we found a gem. Cozy bar and restaurant is what we found. Ordered some drinks and checked out the menu , we're coming back here for sure. While having drinks we looked through the menu so we know what to expect next time we come . They do make a good vesper tho. We snacked on some truffle fries and they were good, good sign , too bad we ate already, but for drinks definitely a place to come for. Till then, I'll see you soon for a more in depth review .

    Escargot. Very tasty.

Best duck I've ever had. Will come back just for that. Service was very attentive, nice staff. Cozy booth.

This restaurant is a vibe. Unique ambiance, dim and dungeony feel but not in a scary way. They have a vast drink menu with one drink priced at $150. Appetizers never disappoint. Beef carpaccio has a unique taste not for every palate but if you love capers try it. Steak was like butter and melted in your mouth. Chefs special Rigatoni was creamy and savory. Salmon was crunchy on top but not overcooked and perfectly flavored. Lobster bisque was heavenly. Savory, creamy and served table side. Servers were young but knowledgeable and professional. It's a place you want to keep experiencing. A dinner of 4 with drinks and dessert came out to almost $600.

Love this place, especially the bar area. The bar has a different menu than the restaurants and we love it. The steak sandwich is one of the favorites. It's always busy. Make sure to make reservations if you want to dine in at the restaurant, the bar is first come, first serve. Lily was great. Love the speakeasy style place.

Ambiance was good, they had many signs leading to where the restaurant entrance is. We loved the escargot, it was a different flavor and serving style than what we're used to. The lobster bisque was good but we thought it could be 30% less salty and it would be perfect. The filet mignon was tender and cooked well tho I'm not too sure about the outside char flavoring, was too burnt for my taste. Our server Shelton was excellent and made the night special as we were celebrating our anniversary.

We went here for Valentine's Day! We were seated in a booth. I love the booths. The booths were across this beautiful wall of wine. I love the red and black decor here. He had the steak and I had fish. Both were great! Our appetizer was the bone marrow with jam! Super good! We had the chocolate soufflé for dessert! Of course that was delicious! The drinks were great too. This is a late post so I forgot what the drinks were called. Service was excellent! We love this restaurant. Came back a second time in April. We will be back many more times!

First, it took us forever to find. It's in the backend of a plaza, same one as Somi Somi. You'll hopefully see signs pointing towards a set of dark stairs that take you down to THE CELLAR. You pull the giant door and enter a vibe. It's definitely ready for Halloween, a bit dim, old fashioned, lives up to the centuries old feel. We split some soups. Both the lobster bisque and French onion soups were solid. Lobster bisque was super creamy, delicious. French onion was surprisingly mild, not heavy on the salt, very nice. I got the tenderloin, which was fine. But the winner was the salmon, very well-cooked with a super crisp skin. Service was attentive. They accept reservations, but do have a cancellation policy with associated fee for last minute cancellations. Gratuity included for groups of 6+

Loved this restaurant! It was really cute and does really resemble pirates of the Caribbean, the food was really good, I orders Ceaser salad with salmon and my bf got the salmon entree, we also got the chocolate souffle, and we are definitely coming back!

The restaurant was cool and had a fun ambience but unfortunately, the food wasn't well prepared. Both me and my partners plates were very undercooked where the meats were super chewy and hard to cut. He had the steak and I had the duck. The rest of the duct plate was very delicious and with good flavor but it was hard to enjoy over the very undercooked meat. The steak tartar was also a little underwhelming in flavor and presentation. On the bright side the cocktails were very delicious.

Five stars for food, service and ambience! This hidden gem offers a warm and upscale experience whether you're experiencing the bar or dining rooms. Tonight, my husband and I decided to visit for Happy Hour. Eric and Paola were fantastic. Eric's recommendation of the menu was perfect and Paola's mixology story was impressive. We will definitely be back!

We went for the Christmas Eve dinner. It was three courses and dessert. The presentation pay price included tax and tip. If you order drinks you had a drink tab.. We got there a bit earlier than our scheduled time, but we're seated right away. This place is cool. You enter by going down a flight of stairs. Its like you're really in a wine cellar. Our server took our drink order, since we knew what we wanted to eat, we ordered food too. From each course we ordered something different so we could try different things. Course one Mary had the French onion Tartlet. I had lobster croquet. Course two Mary had squash soup, I had the salad. Course three Mary had Filet Mignon. I went with the pan seared halibut. For dessert Mary ordered apple tart, I had chocolate mousse We shared everything except the tart because I don't like apple. The food was amazing and the service too. Mary always says how good the lobster bisque is but today it was on the menu. We will have to come back. We loved all the food. Our non alcoholic drinks were also tasty. My favorite was the lobster and halibut. I will definitely return, and look forward to other special menus. The Cellar is the perfect place to bring a date.

My friends and I chose to do New Year's Eve Eve dinner here and it was a blast. We made reservations and upon arriving, it was crowded as most of the seating towards the bar area and to the right of the restaurant were all taken. It wasn't until we were finishing up that we noticed that almost every table was filled. The host, to the servers and helpers were really friendly and made our experience a great one. Our server also gave us good recommendations as we ordered the bone marrow and chateaubriand as she stated and enjoyed it. The chateaubriand was cooked to our liking. The filet was juicy and flavorful along with the red wine demi-glace & béarnaise sauce really kicked the flavors up a notch. The mashed potatoes were so thick and creamy and the most perfectly seasoned carrots I've ever eaten at a restaurant. Another highlighting dish was the lobster bisque. Hands down, the best lobster bisque any of us girls have ever tried. It was creamy, rich, flavorful, lobstery without tasting like the ocean if that makes sense. We also tried the French onion soup, Caesar salad, beet salad, mushroom ravioli, Mac and cheese, and Brussel sprouts. The French onion soup was one of the better ones I've tried, but I think it's also because there was filet mignon in it. The Caesar salad was interesting as it was served with corn. Honestly I wasn't a fan of the paired flavors of the sweet and tangy Caesar. The beef salad was a better salad option. The mushroom ravioli had an amazing flavor and consistency in the filling but fell short as it was paired with an acidic tomato sauce. I would have loved it in a white sauce and maybe a little bit of truffle. Unfortunately, the Mac and cheese as well as Brussel sprouts were nothing special. We finished off the night with a salted caramel soufflé, creme brûlée and sticky toffee pudding. I was quite full and only tried the creme brûlée and it was a good way to end the night. The ambiance was cozy and romantic. It's dark chic while others might describe it as a little goth. The staff is friendly and attentive while the chef in the back knows exactly how to cook your stake perfectly! They had good drinks as well as a few non alcoholic beverages that were just as yummy. If you get a chance to check out this place, I highly recommend the lobster bisque and the chateaubriand.

Ask the Community - The Cellar Restaurant

    Is there a dress code?

    Not Really. Casual is fine.

    Is there a kids menu?

No there is not. It's a fine dining restaurant, but kids are allowed.

Are there gluten free options a available?

To my knowledge I didn't see "gluten free" pasta.. but I know they have meats and seafood that are gluten free! Definitely options.

Is there beer menu? If so what types of beers are available?

Yes, there is a beer menu. There are international options; I had a Belgian beer when I was there.

With Valentines tomorrow, do you have some walk in availability or reservations only? Thanks (another potential last min walk in guests)?

    Are they handicapped accessible?

When we dined there the other evening, they seemed to usher a fella in a wheelchair through the kitchen. So it can be done.

Do they have zabiha halal meals?

    Is there a dress code?

No dress code. People will be causal in jeans n shirts and also dressed up. Dealers choice.

    Are babies or kids allowed?

Hi, I did see an infant with a couple, however I didn't see any other kids. Not sure if that helps

    Where do you park?

Behind the building, even in parking structure. It looks like parking for the apartments but there is public parking in the building.

For Valentine's Day will you have a pre fixe menu per person?

They do have pre fix for Valentine's

Saw corkage fee 2019 @$35 (max 2-bottles), is this still same? Also can champagne be one of the bottles? Thank you?

Yes, the corkage fee is $35 per bottle (including sparkling wine). If you purchase a bottle from The Cellar, they will waive your corkage fee.

Will there be zombie theme for Halloween time again? Ive been wanting to go since 5yrs ago and I finally went last night, the cocktails, food and dessert were so good.

Is the wine list available online?

It changes a lot so it's not online, but if you call they will send it to you.

On yelp it says "Monday there is no table service, there is full bar and small plates". Does this mean there is a reduced menu on Mondays?

This is actually incorrect. They are full service on Mondays.

    Is there inside seating available?

Yes. They are seating at the required 25% occupancy.

What do they offer for Happy Hour?

Yes! A great happy hour from 5-6pm

Are reservations required for dinner and what are the prices?

On the weekends, yes I would make reservations. You can do it via OpenTable. Usually $30-$50 per person. I have been going there for more than a decade. It's an amazing place

Is this restaurant more quiet & intimate? Not loud like Mastros Steakhouse? I been trying to look for a intimate/QUIET restaurant to have dinner at.

Yes, this place is quiet and intimate. We had a very nice wedding anniversary dinner for two there.

Grew up here but oddly I've never been to The Cellar. Looking for a place for my 60th birthday in a week. Do I need reservations for the bar? Hear cocktails are amazing. Can we order dessert too? Is there music?

No reservations needed for the bar and yes the cocktails are amazing! They do have delicious dessert but no live music as far as I have experienced. Happy Birthday!

I think this is on everyone's speakeasy list!…read more Make sure you make a reservation It is very packed. They offer bar seating and booth / table Follow the wall from Randy's donuts and Look for a wall of Japanese sake/beer barrels and head towards the restaurant - the rolling boil. There will be a check in host and stand there and wait (it will be located up against the wall with a big secret door right next to the hostess station) It's very New York inside. When I first came in Spring with the amazing, Karen, the menu and everything was great Now, I took my friend who was in town from Nashville and it was a brand new theme. It's the great Gatsby. Even our waitress, Jasmine was dressed for the occasion. I would say this place is known for Absinthe. They have cocktails featuring it or you can get one of the huge apparatus (huge and glowing green) which, if you are into it? I highly recommend. Just one of the huge apparatus makes one regular drink. Or, what Karen and I did, was split it and make it into a shot for the both of us. The waitress comes out and shows you how it works and goes over everything. Karen, who I came with, was a pro and knew her way around it. She showed me the ropes lol. Honestly, if you are here? When in Rome. Go all out and try it, since it's where they shine here. They took off a few menu items and added some themed drinks. ( a couple new champagne themed drinks) They have big entree items but I suggest small bites and sharing and mostly coming for the drinks. There's no bathroom inside, so you do have to leave the bar and go to the closest one (over behind Randy's donuts) and then enter the speakeasy again Both times coming here I've never had an issue. It's a small, packed place. And yet they still have the cocktails flowing and the food coming out in a good time. So the food and drinks are good Atmosphere is lovely. Service is good. Especially for it usually being very busy in here This place is located inside the Anaheim packing district. So I suggest hitting up a couple other spots before or afterwards for some more food or drinks P.S. it is very dark In here. They never cared if we used our light to look at the menu. However, they do not want flash photography They also do not strictly enforce a dress code (my friend from Nashville asked) however, they suggest dressing business casual and not too underdressed

Crab cake was just ok and the slaw beneath it was drenched in a vinaigrette that was just sour and unpleasant. And the Mac and cheese, as we were very hopeful and looking forward to, was probably the blandest Mac and cheese we ever had. We asked the lady bartender for salt and she handed us, no exaggeration (and you guys will probably think I am) a salt shaker with 10 grains of salt in it and said "looks like there's a lil something you could still get out of there" My jaw dropped. But yeah. The shredded meat on top of the Mac and cheese was cooked beyond the point of edible. That one was unfortunately sent back bc we just couldn't eat it. We were bummed over all mostly about the food.
