Centurion lounges have been hit or miss. Lately there have been way more misses than there should be (actually, there shouldn't be any misses). The Phoenix Lounge is a pleasant exception. It was early on a Saturday so we didn't have a long wait. (Which has also become quite unusual). We arrived at the end of breakfast and were there for lunch. We did nibble a little fruit but really, we were waiting for lunch. And what a great idea that was. The buffet was jammed with a variety of choices, something for everyone. (I've had some pretty lousy food lately - yes, that's you, CLT). Everything I tried was great. The brisket was a standout. The lemon cake was quite worthy of its calories. There was only one bartender so the bar line was a little long but the pours were generous and the specialty drink, the layover, was worth the wait. The only issue wasn't the lounge's fault though they could do something about it. Children. Screaming. Running amok. Screaming. It's 100% the parent's fault but a quiet reminder (or, better yet, a threat) from the manager may have calmed things down a bit. Perhaps a family room could be added. The PHX Centurion Lounge is a step above many of the other clubs. It's definitely worth a visit. read more

Amex lounge is always hit or miss. Today was a hit on food. I didnt need to go on the food concourse to find something worth eating as a meal. They had mashed potatoes, fish and chips brisket, hummus, Mac and cheese and some really good tasting fried cauliflower dipped in some asian sweet sauce. Their food when they have the right selection is always good. Their bar is always the best for free drinks and cocktails. On the downside they need some maintenance on the place and they need to stop overselling capacity. Bathroom only had one functional sink and they lack automated soap dispensers. Recommendations: Raise the minimum fee to over 100k a year on spend and charge 50 dollars per additional person. It will also help clean up some freeloaders who only have this card for frequent traveler perks and help subsidize the costs. Also get some showers in this location so those who have flights delayed for more than 3 hours can shower and avoid smelling like they havent showered in days. read more

The entrance is across from B22. The check in entrance is shared with the Escape Lounge so make sure you follow the right line. The space is segmented into various rooms, but you'll be able to find space to sit since there are many tables and chairs. The food selections for dinner was: - Chicken Teriyaki - Mac n Cheese - Parmesan Brocolli - Fried Rice - Churros - Kettle Chips - Salad Bar The drinks have the same menu as other Centurion Lounges. I got the Sky High cocktail which was boozy yayy. The restroom leaves something to be desired. Only one private stall and two urinals for the guys. The floor was super sticky. read more

What a great lounge with a fantastic and efficient check in system ( busy at 9 am on a Thursday), wonderful and fun staff especially Patricia, nice breakfast options( photo), loads of coffee machines, a cool bar, easy & no fuss in and out with no crowds and a nice vibe. The Amex Centurion Lounge is located on the 2nd floor across from gate B22 in Terminal 4( American Airlines). For the NY flights coming into the A gates it's about a 11 minute walk and absolutely worth it. I was 7th in line with 3 counters open and once Patricia got my card info, boarding pass she put me on a short 5-15 minute waitlist with a dedicated counter to return to, I was texted and in like Flynn in 180 seconds. Loved it! The food buffet bar is well stocked with alert staff refilling and cleaning. The chairs are comfy and ample and right next to the food that makes it easy. The restrooms are clean . Philip originally from Flatbush in Brooklyn was a hoot. A lovely guy with a great sense of humor and a very cool blue tie and black suit. The bartender Stacey was a blast and a ball of energy. Great mixed drinks. This is a chill Amex lounge where even a 20 minute travel respite is rejuvenating and invigorating. The blueberry muffins and the buckwheat pancakes were amazing. read more

Walking in was a bit intimidating, there are about 3 rows to go into each with specific signs of what you need to do. Once that's figured out, check-in process was easy, the wait was about 15+ minutes to get in. Everyone in the Centurion Lounge was helpful, friendly and truly seemed happy making it a great experience for their guests. Lounge was kept up very well and the food options were nice. This is probably my favorite Amex lounge I have been to so far. The food is amazing compared to others. Sometimes they have pulled pork which is my favorite and sometimes they even have Rice Krispies from a local phx bakery that you can take on the go. I seriously always look forward to going to this lounge and seeing what food is available. Service is great they come clean your table right away and the lounge is pretty clean in general. The bar is great too! I would recommend checking in while going through security in case it is busy so your wait is decreased. read more

On the way to our destination we tried the Escape Lounge (two free passes were included with my Platinum Card) & on the way home we figured we'd try the Centurion Lounge (had to pay $50 for my guest). Honestly they were both the same in regards to food, facility & bathrooms. There were no real extras in the Centurion Lounge. The food was literally the exact same (it was breakfast both times) & other than maybe some extra fruit & a side dish of tomatoes there was not much difference. Bummed that we have this perk & that I paid for my guest when we could've gotten the same thing at the Escape Lounge for free . This lounge in AZ, is quite nice to stop in and grab a quick bite before your flight in/out. Very spacious and service is impeccable. Food selection was tasty and as always the view outside is my favorite. There was a long line to get in but you are put on a short waitlist. once they text you to come in - I would recommend you don't wait too long to respond and hurry in as others are waiting too. Location: terminal 4, behind gate B21 This is a much smaller lounger compared to the one in Denver. I arrived around 7 PM, and they closed at 9 PM. They started announcing the closing time at 8 PM. Hot food is good. Coffee, tea, and water are self served. They had a bar and a nice window looking out at the tarmac. Request fountain drinks from the bar. The dessert was good! I like the lemon bars! No wait today which was really nice. The front desk staff were super chipper which is also nice when you're traveling. Upgraded one star because I didn't see the usual grumpy jerk bearded bartender. But the bathroom and food are still the worst of all Centurions. Bathroom has one perpetually out-of-order sink, and just one stall for the entire lounge. Floor under the working sink was flooded. Had to alert staff that it needed attention. Food consists of mushy cauliflower "orange chicken" stuff, an attempt at "bang bang shrimp" that is also just mush with some Asian-flavored sauce, teriyaki pork belly chunks that are mostly just fat. Mashed potatoes were good. Use a normal airport bathroom before you arrive, and maybe grab some protein because the meat options are awful. read more

Travel can be tedious and tiring. Many times waking up early if traveling from the West Coast to the East just to arrive at a decent hour. With layovers, travel becomes even more tiring. The Centurion Lounge makes travel, even with layovers, more enjoyable. This location can be found in the B terminal across from gate 22. Once you see signs, enter the glassdoors/ check in area. Once checked in, you'll proceed upstairs to the actual lounge. Seating is available for individual travelers, families or small groups. Relaxing lounge chairs or workstations can be found throughout. Food is self-service as are most non-alcoholic beverages. Some sodas, mixed drinks, wine and beer can be obtained from the bartenders. Food has never disappointed. It's a nice snack that very much suffices for a meal. There are also friendly assistants who regularly check in on you and clear used items and refresh the food buffet. For the level that this lounge is supposed to represent I was extremely disappointed. First of all, let me say that I went before 12 noon in the lounge and they had already run out of cream for the coffee, brown sugar for the coffee, any flavored syrup everything they had to do with coffee. Me being a coffee person. I was extremely disappointed because I didn't want any food. I just wanted to relax and have coffee before The Flight when I asked they said they had run out already, which was disturbing to me because it wasn't even noon yet. This is obviously the lounge I frequent most, being based in PHX. It definitely does the job, service is friendly, food offerings are solid and I have yet to been put on a waitlist before entry. On this most recent visit I noticed it felt a bit more rundown than normal, not totally unexpected from a high traffic lounge, but considering it's supposed to be higher end as well, it could definitely be improved. The water dispenser wasn't working, the overall lounge was dirty, lots of trash and the tables could use a good cleaning. I won't put my nose up and still love visiting, but it could definitely use a bit more TLC. On a separate note, Espresso Martinis were delicious! You are asked to get the espresso yourself, as they do not have one behind the bar, no biggie. read more

Visited the Centurion Lounge at Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) before a flight to Buffalo. The lounge was not busy today, with good seating and solid Wi-Fi. Food and drink options were excellent--the pulled pork sliders and the shrimp with sausage and grits were especially good, and the Balvenie single malt Scotch was a nice touch. The Centurion Lounge in Phoenix has really improved over the past couple of years. It used to be extremely crowded, to the point where it was hard to relax, but the newer waitlist system and other anti-overcrowding measures have made a noticeable difference. Even when they're at capacity, the vibe feels calmer and more manageable now. The food is solid. It's the same menu you'll find in the Escape Lounge, but consistently well prepared. On recent visits I've seen a nice spread with crudité and dip, salads, Brussels sprouts, brisket, and burnt ends. Dessert has changed over time -- they used to have cheesecake (which I miss), and lately it's been strawberry pound cake with whipped cream and brownies. Still tasty, just not quite as exciting as before. What really sets this lounge apart is the staff. They are professional, kind, and welcoming. I love seeing familiar faces year after year -- it gives the place a personal touch that many airport lounges lack. A special shoutout to Daylin, who has checked me in on my last two trips and always makes me feel genuinely welcome. That kind of hospitality goes a long way when you're traveling. The lounge itself, though, is starting to show its age. I've noticed ceiling patches and some general wear and tear. And despite clear signage, people still put their shoes on the furniture... WTH. Breakfast starts at 5:30am. They open at 5:00am. It's not busy at that time, but we always put our name on the waiting list or check-in. They will give you 10 minutes to secure the spot. This may be one of my favorite Amex Centurion Lounges. It always has a bright, open, feel, and you can watch the traffic on the airfield while you wait. Lots of seating, nearly everywhere has power, and they're always keeping the food and drink fresh. This time they basically had to make your own taco station out with some pork, veggies, tortillas, and soup. They also had a watermelon salad that included onion, I can definitely see what they were going for, but it didn't quite meet my tastes. The watermelon and onion were both fresh, but so fresh they really seem to clash. As always, grab a glass of bubbly at the bar and catch up on your email between flights. read more

Possibly one of the worst centurion lounge I've come across. I usually try to avoid phoenix airport in general because it's chaotic, but came here last minute. You can tell the upkeep is terrible by looking at their furnitures. The restroom is really small, smells gross and dirty. Food selection is just like any other Amex lounge. The American Express Lounge at Phoenix Sky Harbor continues to be one of our favorite pre-flight stops. While it may not be the largest Amex lounge, it more than makes up for it with quality, accessibility, and consistently excellent service. Thanks to the Sky Harbor layout, this lounge is surprisingly accessible, making it easy to build in a visit even when time is tight. We intentionally plan extra time before our flights just to stop by, relax, enjoy a great meal, and start our trip on a high note. The lounge was only about half occupied, yet many tables were dirty, food stations weren't being maintained, and the overall experience felt understaffed and below the standard I'd expect from the Centurion brand. This wasn't a capacity issue. It appeared to be an operations and staffing issue. I've visited many premium airport lounges, and this was among the weakest experiences despite the lounge not being crowded. read more

I'm disappointed, it didn't felt like any difference on a regular lounge. I was here on a Monday at 11am, and it was packed. The food area is empty and doesn't look appetizing. The ambiance is so not worth of the platinum status with Amex. The restroom is dirty and out of toilet papers. I don't know why it's like this, maybe I should've gone to the Escape lounge. I came in with high expectations. There was another lounge right next door, and the staff mentioned the main difference was the food. Plus, that lounge allowed two guests for free, while the Centurion Lounge requires guest fees -- so naturally, I assumed this one would be the superior option. Unfortunately, it was far from what I expected. The experience was shockingly underwhelming. If you just need a place to sit for a short time, it's fine. But if you're bringing guests and paying extra for them, I honestly wouldn't recommend it. You're better off exploring the airport and choosing a restaurant you actually enjoy -- that would be a much better value and overall experience. Pretty disappointed. read more
