    Lobster Roll Special.
    Roger K.

This was the last restaurant we dined in as the pandemic hit, so it's been over four years since we've returned. What was the draw? Thursday Lobster Roll Special! Yes, you can save $10 off the normal menu price for a hot lobster roll with French Fries ($26.95 special price). The lobster was plentiful, tender, and tasty. Served on a New England style hot dog roll with minimal lettuce, a wedge of lemon, plenty of melted butter, and a side of perfectly cooked shoestring fries, this was a very enjoyable meal that we topped off with an Imperial pint of Guinness ($10) and a pint of Paradox Pilsner ($8). The only downside is the high level of noise from customers talking in the main dining room while it was about three-quarters full. There is nothing to absorb or soften the sound bouncing off the wood and brick walls.

Stayed at the hotel and gave the restaurant a try. It's okay food. Not the best, but not the worst. I ordered a burger medium and it came well done and dry. The fries that came with it were so over cooked, they were essentially hollow potato chip tubes. I tried eating them, but quickly gave up. Maybe the worst part was the very cold air blowing from a vent above me on an already cold and rainy day. I was told it was broken, so we rearranged our seats so no one in our party had to be directly under it.

Came to the Century house for a Christmas dinner. The parking lot in the front of the location was quite full it wasn't a large parking lot there was an additional overflow parking lot in the back adjacent to the hotel. I parked in the back parking lot but when you park in the back parking lot you have to walk through the hotel to get to the front to the restaurant so it's a little bit of a walk especially in heels and with Christmas gifts in tow. The restaurant it's self with pub like with a really pretty fireplace the lights were low on the restaurant was full again they don't check for your vaccine but they trust that you're either vaccinated are you wearing a mask. The service was excellent the space was welcoming it was warm and it was ample space in between dining tables. We started with an appetizer of Traditional Tavern Chips with Buffalo chicken. It was delicious The chips were crisp and they were not salty the chicken which season very well I was quite to see him moist. I ordered them Prime Rib Steak Sandwich which was shaved prime rib, dry sautéed mushrooms and onions with beer cheese sauce (on the side) and fries. The meat had a rank taste and was also very salty so I asked if I could exchange it. The server got the manager and the manager asked what was wrong and I repeated to her when I told the server and she said apologized and said I could have something else so I got the lobster roll with fries we drawn butter. The lobster roll was OK it tasted frozen and not fresh. All in all it was a good evening the service was great the location was nice, ambiance was great but my meal was not good.

The ambience is so warm and cozy . Our server was a little odd but quite attentive and we never wanted for anything . Hubby and I had the 99.00 date night special which includes cocktail, house salad , prime rib with 3 stuffed shrimp. Mashed potatoes, popover, vegetables and dessert. Oh and basket of really good bread but served just tepid. The salad was huge, cold and fresh . The blue cheese dressing was good but a little more runny than we prefer and tasted a tad sweeter than I am used to. The prime rib was delicious ! The au jus was the best I have ever had and the horsey sauce was sumptuous. I wasn't too crazy about the popover . I think it's overkill for the dinner that already comes with bread . We had the chocolate mousse and lemon cake for dessert. The chocolate mousse was the hit ! So good . The lemon cake was not too shabby either.

CAB Filet and Lobster Tail (Butcher Block Special)

I ordered room service during my stay in the hotel. I ordered the surf and turf (prime rib and a lobster tail) and they were unfortunately sold out of the prime rib. Instead, I got the CAB steak with a lobster tail. Yumm!!! It came with au jus, roasted potatoes, green beans and grape tomatoes. I also got their horseradish sauce on the side and I'm glad I did. It was cooked perfectly and so well seasoned! I am still thinking about it 5 days later. The one critique I would give is the room service ordering system. You call the restaurant and leave a message and the message tells you they only have 1 phone line so you may not get a confirmation call back for 25 minutes. They do encourage you to use their online food ordering system which is set up to order as pickup or delivery. I couldn't figure out how to order as room service so someone could bring it to me vs me having to walk there to get it. I ordered by leaving a message and waited for 25 minutes with no call back and no answer in the restaurant. Eventually I had to call the front desk and ask them to reach the restaurant for me so I could confirm my order was in. I have now eaten from the restaurant 3 times and love love love the steaks I've had!! I will genuinely drive 25 miles from my house to get this food on occasion. But if they could come up with a new slightly revised plan for their room service ordering system, that would definitely be a nice change.

My wife and I went here for dinner after spending a few days in Cooperstown. It was recommended by a coworker that grew up in the area. We were seated quickly and the service was fantastic. The atmosphere was great. We were in and out in less than an hour. My wife and I both had the prime rib. I also had the lobster chowder. My only complaint was the amount of fat on my steak.

I had not been here for several years, but I am pleased to have become reacquainted at lunch today. The dining room is colonial, rustic, and charming. (See photos for details.) The floor is made up of old boards which look great but may contribute to the room being some what noisy as more and more tables became occupied. Reason for four stars instead of five. Party of three, we enjoyed the food which was plated nicely on striking white china. The attractive large cloth napkins were a welcome contrast to paper used at many places. Our waiter was excellent. Food: I had The New England which was a very good value at $13. considering the quality of the food. The Lobster Chowder was fantastic, decadent actually. I wanted more than a cup which came with the lunch. I was able to swap a green salad for the pasta salad which was very nice. My husband had a Sirloin Tip Open Face Sandwich that came with A+ Potato Wedges. My daughter had the Mean Green vegetarian lunch. The rolls were fresh and crusty just the way we like them. My photos include one of the lunch menu (there were four specials) and several of the food. Happy to support this traditional, independently owned well established place! Will return soon.

Another friend, Pam, had highly recommended Emma Jayne's Restaurant which is only a couple of traffic lights from Trader Joe's - a perfect location for our trip. The restaurant sits just north of Fred the Butcher (next door, literally) for those who frequent that establishment, on Route 9. There is off-street parking. When we arrived at 12:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, the front parking spaces were full. (Note: there may be parking around back; I didn't check) We thought we might have to wait for a table. Wrong! The restaurant is surprisingly spacious with two large rooms furnished with tables that were thoughtful spaced apart. A photo of an adorable young girl, whom we assumed was the dining establishment's namesake, was on the wall. Let me be sure to mention that the ladies room, which smelled faintly of bleach, was spotless. I mean REALLY clean! About the food ... my friend and I shared an appetizer of Fried Calamari. It was an ample portion (took some home) accompanied by sweet chili sauce - a nice change from typical marinara served at other places. However, the calamari was small and overcooked. As a result, what was presented was a plate of small, overly crisp rings of 90% batter. No squid! For our entrees, Barb chose the Chicken Salad Sandwich. She requested that it be served on a pretzel bun (touted as homemade) for which we were hit with an up-charge of $3.50. The chicken salad had grapes and walnuts in it and Barb liked it very much. The up-charged pretzel roll did not appear to be homemade. Very disappointing. Had she known it would be uninspiring, she would have accepted the brioche roll. Macaroni salad - not very exciting - accompanied the sandwich along with a pickle. I love seafood and was torn between ordering the Fish and Chips (halibut) and Lobster Pot Pie (an appetizer). Our server, Drew, gets a gold star for suggesting the second one when I told him I wasn't a big eater. Apparently, the halibut, while highly recommended, is a sizable portion. The pot pie was superb! The rich, creamy sauce was divine. I couldn't eat it all and will enjoy the rest of it for lunch today. Emma Jayne's menu has something for everyone. Our server, Drew, was informative and attentive. While we may make other food choices (skip the calamari and pretzel bun but keep the pot pie), we will definitely return.

What a beautiful restaurant!…read more Did you ever have a long day and want to drink a big glass of red wine with dinner? The Scarlet Knife put a check in all the boxes. I walked in with no reservations. I noticed the space is very large with multiple dining rooms. I'm tired, I asked for a table close to the open kitchen. Once seated, I'm given a large, leather menu. There are lots of great entree choices but after I review all the selections, I'm going with the SK Bistro Burger. The entree also has a wine pairing suggestion, a Cabernet Sauvignon. It's like they read my mind, I'm sold! I'm starting to read about the restaurant, they have a large wine cellar and was recognized by Wine Spectator with an award for excellence. My bistro burger arrives, I can see this is a well crafted burger. From the pretzel bun to the thick burger patty, Scarlet Knife served me a great meal that I would typically order at The Capital Grill. My only issue, the onion straws were cold. I scraped them off and continued with my meal. I'm just passing thru town, Scarlet Knife was a fantastic spot to dine and have a generous pour of award winning Cabernet Sauvignon.

We arrived early and were seated promptly; water was poured before we even had napkins on laps. This surprised me, as reviews indicated that service could be slow and this was a holiday. But this started a constant service of someone checking in on us every 2-3 minutes (I am prone to exaggeration for a good story, but I assure you this was true. I kept checking my watch to confirm). We put in an appetizer order (deviled eggs) that was served within a minute or two. These were well seasoned and tasty, ice cold from the refrigerator. It's not that they didn't taste fresh, but they were served to us so quickly that I know that they were prepared well in advance and only the warm pork belly was recently prepped. Our meals were served as the appetizer was finished (I was still chewing). At this point, we were 10 minutes into our seating. Our meals included steak and eggs, which I incorrectly assumed would require a little bit more time. Not true! Our plates arrived, piping hot and tasty enough...but boy did we feel rushed. Our server, the manager, bussers, and other attendants stopped by our table every few minutes. I recognize this was a holiday, but there was not a steady stream of people coming through the doors and plenty of open tables were available. Our conversation was repeatedly interrupted with these check-ins and we all took great care to eat the meal as slowly as possibly to stretch things out. At this point we were on track to be out the door in 30 minutes. As a table we made a decision to order dessert and we were able to savor and dawdle long enough to get us to one hour. $180 later, we finished our Easter visit out in the parking lot where no one was pushing us out. (I will note that several families arrived after us and completed their meals in 30ish minutes. What's special about brunch when it's that rushed?) I wish I could review the food better, but my taste buds hardly had time to register the experience. Entrees were hot but clearly prepared well in advance and kept at the ready under heat lamps or in warming ovens. The dessert was cold and sweet as appropriate, but had that prepped yesterday feel to it. This is not what I expect from a restaurant that markets itself as a fresh farm to table establishment. I don't quite regret going to Scarlet Knife, but there are enough quality restaurants in the greater area that I probably won't return.

I've been to Innovo Kitchen in Latham several times over the years and I've enjoyed it every time. They have a unique menu that changes periodically, but I always find something that catches my eye. The interior has an industrial feel which I like, with a lot of exposed brick. The tables are made from old bowling lane wood, which is a really cool touch. When you walk in there is also a bowling pin displayed in a glass case. I remember there being a bowling alley somewhere in that plaza when I was a kid, so it seems likely the building has some history tied to that. The tables are also nice and large, which makes the dining experience more comfortable. Tonight I ordered the Monte Cristo burger which is described as battered Buckley's Bread sourdough, a 6 oz special grind burger, Taylor pork roll, Swiss, and Twin Leaf Farms maple aioli. It was quite tasty and I really enjoyed the hint of maple syrup flavor on the burger. The crinkle cut fries that came with it were also very good. Another person in our party ordered the White Chicken Parmesan, described as a crisp chicken cutlet topped with ricotta and garlic spinach and fresh mozzarella, with garlic parmesan cream and lumache pasta. They said it was delicious. Someone else had the Crispy Skin Salmon and enjoyed that as well. A child at our table ordered macaroni with red sauce. The portion was surprisingly large and they liked it, which is impressive because they are particularly finicky. For dessert we ordered something we've had here several times before, the peanut butter mud pie. It's basically ice cream in pie form with an Oreo cookie crust and chocolate fudge. It's very tasty and also a generous portion. At the end of your meal they also offer everyone at the table a tasty piece of gourmet chocolate. One thing that really stood out tonight was the attentiveness of the management. Two different managers stopped by our table at different times to check and make sure everything was good. I recognized one of them because I've seen him there before and he always seems to make a point of checking in with guests. The other person had seated us so I initially thought she was the hostess, but after she stopped by during the meal I asked if she was a manager and she confirmed that she was. I mentioned that I was impressed that two different managers had checked on us, and that every time I've dined there a manager has stopped by to make sure everything was good. I thanked her and told her it was appreciated. During the summer and fall they also have a very nice patio area for outdoor dining. On cooler nights they have heaters and a fireplace which makes it a great place to sit outside. I will definitely return here again in the future. 5 stars

This was my first time at Beer Bones Bar and Grill. We went as a group of six and made a 6pm reservation, which turned out to be a good call because the place filled up quickly. It's on the smaller side and definitely gets busy. One thing to note, there is a 3% upcharge if you pay by credit card. It's posted on the door, but easy to miss if you're not looking for it. We started with pretzels and mozzarella sticks, both were very good. From there, it's clear wings are a big focus here. They have a ton of sauce options. We ordered a wing platter and tried Stebo, garlic parm, moonshine, and bourbon BBQ. The Stebo was the clear favorite for everyone, with the bourbon BBQ as my personal second. I'd definitely be interested in trying their honey BBQ next time. The wings themselves were excellent, large, meaty, crispy, and very flavorful. I'm somewhat of a wing aficionado, and these absolutely delivered. One thing that really stood out was the generous portion of celery, carrots, and blue cheese. Most places treat that as an afterthought, but not here. Everything was fresh and plentiful, which was a nice change. Bravo on that. For entrees, we were told they were out of string fries and corned beef, but pastrami was available as a substitute for Reubens. Not a big deal for our group. I ordered a cheeseburger, no tomato or onion, add lettuce, with steak fries, and asked for it well done. Others at the table ordered a Feener burger, another cheeseburger, mac and cheese, tater tots, a slider, and a Nashville hot chicken wrap. The one issue was that our waiter didn't write anything down, which made us all a little skeptical. Unfortunately, that concern turned out to be valid. One burger came out without cheese, and they were out of American, so it had to be switched to cheddar. My order came out with tomato and onion, no lettuce, and waffle fries instead of steak fries. To their credit, everything was corrected quickly. The runner brought out lettuce right away and swapped the fries, mentioning steak fries take a little longer, but they came out pretty fast. My burger itself was what I'd call medium rare rather than well done, but I was hungry and didn't send it back. Despite the mix-ups, the food across the board was very good, and the portions were large. I was full and couldn't even finish my fries, which almost never happens. Service overall was a mixed bag. The waiter was friendly and acknowledged the mistakes upfront, which I appreciated. Other staff checked in on us, refilled drinks, and made sure we had napkins and wet wipes for the wings. Once the errors were announced , they were handled quickly and without any issue. I really think if the order had been written down, this could have easily been a 5 star visit. I'll definitely be back, the wings alone are worth it, and the staff did a good job recovering from the mistakes. Next time, if we're a larger group again, I might suggest writing the order down just to avoid the same issues.
