    Buffalo Chicken Pocket!
    Steven M.

SOMEBODY CALL MY MAMA! Okay, but seriously, I'm going to take her to this place when she visits me. Pete N' Paul Pockets is a place that I never heard of until it was my birthday last week and they randomly showed up on Yelp (thanks for the advice yelp!). This place looks either brand new or recently renovated from the outside, offers a good amount of parking, and looks just as great on the inside. The place was packed when I walked in but luckily I also used Yelp to place my order online and beat the lines. I had no idea what a pocket was but boy oh boy, you need to get one. I ordered a buffalo chicken pocket which is basically just a chicken finger sub served in this peta type pocket roll thing (notice my horrible description) with a side order of waffle fries. I will say that the buffalo chicken pocket was not the easiest thing to eat but it was so worth the mess. This thing was filled with buffalo chicken, lettuce, tomato, and mayo and packed one heck of a flavourful punch. The waffle fries I had on the side weren't the best, but they still tasted good and made for an excellent side dish. Overall, Pete N' Paul's Pockets have brought a unique idea and turned it into one fine Restaurant. I loved my experience here and will absolutely be coming back for more in the future!

    Why this bag?

Why was my food in this bag? I'm afraid to eat it, even though I picked it up. Not a great look to walk back into the office with this bag.

When I was growing up I was completly convinced that Pete 'n Paul's was a drug front (it's South Buffalo, so drugs probably meant Genny Cream Ale). Their hours were super sketchy (they were like 10:45-2:05 on Tuesdays and Thursday only... and they often closed early). But man, when the doors were open was the food sure good! I'm please to announce those ridiculous store hours are no more (Mon-Sat, 10:30-7:30), but the fantastic food is. One of my all time favorite Buffalo junk food lunches is the chicken finger pita pocket. Crispy, brown fingers, lettuce & tomatoes all chopped up and smothered in melted cheddar cheese and mayonaise. It's dished up super hot and loaded with chicken fingers and cheese. Want a tip?: Eat it there. When you take it to-go it's wrapped up in tin foil and the heat from the sandwich creates moisture that can't pass through the foil barrier which compromises the integrity of the pita (it gets soggy). Don't worry, the WHO only determined that red and processed meats cause cancer. Chicken fingers and melted cheese are still perfectly safe for your everyday diet.

"Steak in the grass" Huge, tasty, satisfying.

Their food is always great and they have lots of options to choose from. The chicken finger pita and greek pita are my favorite.

After a long drive to have brunch somewhere on Elmwood, just to find the doors locked, I ventured…read moreover here to have lunch and it did not disappoint! First off, I was greeted and found staff friendly and efficient! You have plenty of options for seating .. dining area, front bar, back bar, even an outdoor patio bar. Although it is dive bar-esque, it was nice and clean (let's be honest .. some dives have a stench and stickiness that can definitely ruin your appetite, no matter how much you may love them). They have a set up for bands to play, as one was playing while I was there for their 2 year anniversary (congrats!). What was nice is although I could hear the band (it was playing in the back and I was up front), it wasn't over whelming me. I have eaten places where, no matter where you sit, it's extremely loud, and I appreciated that you had a choice here. Now onto the food: The food should have been doomed to fail; my tastebuds were prepared to eat sweet, buttery, syrupy French toast with a mocktail at brunch elsewhere. But wasn't hyped about the menu because of this (which is not dog and pony's fault .. I had to work and didn't have time to research where else brunch was available). I settled on the umami smashburger by a suggestion of my waitress. Now once again, could have been doomed to fail as I'm not a French fry person and my favorite cheeseburger is one I make on my own. BUT WOW their food blew me away and made me forget all about my brunch let-down. The French fries were fantastic and had a great seasoning on them! The smashburger was great to the last bite .. and I was NOT expecting to finish it as it was a really nice portion (I ate lunch now 10 hours ago and didn't need to eat again it was so filling!) but it was so dang gone good I sure finished it! Smoked cheddar .. chimichuri aioli ... kimchi bacon jam .. oh ya that bacon jam was EVERYTHING!! Thank you to the staff at Dog and Pony for making my long drive worth while!

We came here for lunch because we seen so many great reviews but man, what a disappointment. The…read morebar area was nice, but the service and the food was not as everyone else described. I ordered the smash burger, my husband ordered the turkey sandwich. After we were waiting for our food for over 25 minutes, the server came over and said that he was just informed they don't have the turkey because they had an issue with that freezer. Ok, so my husband ordered the cheese steak because he was super excited for the bahn mi roll. My smash burger was alright, but the bread they use for their burgers remind me of those cheap buns you get from TOPS that just fall apart. The worst part was that they forgot the dog sauce on my burger, so I asked for the sauce, and THEY CHARGED ME FOR ASKING FOR SAUCE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO ALREADY BE ON THE BURGER I ORDERED. My husband made sure to tell me after we already left because he knew I would have fought it and our already 1.5 hour long lunch date would have been longer waiting for the refund... He ordered the cheesesteak and the sandwich was so small, and the "bahn mi bun" wasn't even toasted which is a signature for bahn mi bread. He said the flavor was fine but nothing to rave about. The worst part, for me, were the French fries that came with both of our meals. They were soooo heavily peppered that they were inedible. We asked for ketchup to try to make them tolerable, and they gave us a pre-portioned small cup of ketchup... You serve french fries with most of your menu, why isn't there ketchup on the table?!? Overall, It was a nice place to have on senrca street which used to only have the blackthorn and franchescas, but I would not eat here again.

In typical deli fashion, you grab a number and wait for yours to be called. It does get very busy and it's kind of hard to see the exact selection behind the case. I was a bit bummed they were out of the teriyaki chicken breast but they had plenty of other stuff . I was waited on promptly as well . Everything was packed well and came to a total of $11 and some change (not too shabby!) . Other freezer items and sauces, chips etc can be purchased too. I'll be back soon to try some other things and maybe stop by Eileen's next door for some baked goods (they were closed this time around, maybe a blessing in disguise calorie wise, eh?) PS- the roast beef and cheddar sandwich I had for lunch today was delicious!

Cold cuts are available at the first counter when you walk in. Number system. They have a variety but they don't have Circle U hard salami. I can live with this. Cheeses are at a different counter. There are spices, breads and such in a separate room. A little confusing. Almost like a wanna be "Guercio's". Whatever. I guess what really ticked me off - there is a tip jar. FOR WHAT???? Handing me bagged cold cuts? I'll be back at some point. Just not anytime soon.

A dear friend drove to Buffalo from NYC to volunteer at an event and after a long day volunteering,…read morethey were looking for a hearty meal and some good drink. Seeing as I'm a Yelp-er, they wanted me to find a spot I hadn't been to yet, even though I had eaten dinner already on my own. I had The Ridge West Seneca saved in my "Places to Try" collection so I said let's go. Overall, I cannot wait to go back and grab a meal here and try the food for myself! We arrive just before 8pm on a Saturday night to a large gravel parking lot that was pretty busy, but we still found a spot pretty easily. We walked in and the hostess was able to seat the two of us at a booth right away! Inside it was very spacious with plenty of TVs going, a bar on one side, music playing overhead. Indoor noise was elevated (it's a restaurant that has a bar, it's going to not be quiet haha) but the two of us could carry on a conversation fairly normally. Our waitress came over immediately to let us know she'd be a few minutes as there were a few other tables she was handling. Fine by us as that allowed my buddy ample time to look over the menu and figure out what he wanted. I saw the St. Patrick's Day-themed cocktail specials menu so I knew what I was ordering. Our waitress though - Absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly friendly, had great personality, and was really accommodating in splitting the check (I took care of all our drinks, my friend took care of his dinner). Our waitress did a great job checking in on us at the perfect time, we never felt pressured, rushed. I didn't order any food but my friend ordered their Steakhouse Strip off the "Large Plates" section of the menu, and boy oh boy, did that look amazing! The 12-ounce strip was cooked to a picture-perfect medium-rare with plenty of tobacco onions on top and around the plate, and served over a generous bed of mashed potatoes and asparagus, served with a small cup of their A1 aioli. After seeing that, I certainly want to come back and order food. My friend really enjoyed their meal, the plate was clean! As for me, I ordered two St. Patrick's Day -themed cocktails: "Sham Rocked Shake" and "Irish Good Bye". The "Sham Rocked Shake" was vanilla vodka, crème de menthe, cream, and chocolate syrup and curls - This was creamy, delicious, not overly minty. The "Irish Good Bye" was Three Chord bourbon, Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and lemon juice with a lime wedge - There was so much flavor in this cocktail, the lemon juice added a pleasant fruity 'punch'. Looking at the prices for these cocktails, I felt they were in-line with most other places and they were made well so no complaints from me. The Ridge West Seneca really surprised me! I've driven past it a few times and wondered how good it was. From our friendly waitress and service, the delicious cocktails, to the fantastic-looking food, I am impressed. I'm looking forward to coming back soon for another night of drinks and to try some food!

One of our friends brought her puppy and was thrilled to discover they have a dog menu. Such a cute touch! Overall, it's a great spot for groups, with a fun atmosphere, plenty of outdoor space, and solid food. No complaints here!
