When life hands you a mediocre meal, sometimes you just have to take the L. I was craving Indian food, but didn't have the time to fully dine in at a restaurant. I also wanted something on the healthier side. I did some research on Yelp and decided to try INDAY, a modern fast-casual Indian-inspired eatery based in NYC. There's over 8 locations in the city and I visited the one located in Midtown East. The menu focuses on build-your-own bowls. They claim to use organic ingredients, antibiotic-free proteins, whole grains, and vibrant spices to create a balanced, nutritious meal as an alternative to traditional, heavier Indian dishes. You can customize your base, proteins, veggies, sauces/curries, and toppings. You can also choose from signature bowls with pre-selected ingredients. The interior is modern with warm, earthy tones. Seating is limited - there's two counters with stools and a small table for 3 in the corner. Service is pretty much nonexistent. No one greeted me when I walked in. No one was at the register. This is the type of place that really encourages you to use the self-service kiosks. I'm old-fashioned and prefer traditional in-person interaction. Welp, I ordered on the kiosk and waited at the pick-up area. I was the only customer there, so my food came out quickly. I guess my first red flag should've been that I couldn't smell any food being cooked. Indian food is famously aromatic. I ordered... *Chicken Tikka Masala Bowl $14 (includes grilled chicken, tomato curry, pickled onions, hot honey, crispy onions, cilantro) - My bowl wasn't even fully filled to the top. Yes, I'm going to be stingy about this because baby... in this economy, I want my money's worth. The grilled chicken was dry, tough, and hard. Not tender or juicy at all. The tikka masala sauce was severely lacking in flavor, richness, and depth. It was an extremely watered down version. I did not taste the tang from the tomatoes. I did not taste herbal or fragrant spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric, ginger, or paprika. Bland, bland, bland. The basmati rice tasted like it was made from an instant minute package (and maybe it was since this is a fast-casual place). It wasn't fluffy and lacked that signature nutty flavor. The onions and hot honey completely overpowered everything else. Hard pass! *Garlic Naan $3 - Nooooooo. I'm sorry, but NO. This was a sad piece of naan... This was more like cheap pita bread with a bit of parsley and garlic oil sprinkled in the center. It was cold, hard, and crunchy. Not fluffy, soft, or chewy at all. It's clear that the ingredients are not that fresh and most likely reheated. Nothing tasted healthy. The flavors are so far from authentic Indian food. The menu photos definitely make the food look a lot better than it actually is. Instagram vs. Reality... LOL. I know they have other locations, and this experience could have been a huge dub... buuut I can't see myself coming back any time soon. This INDAY location did not live up to its claim of serving a fresh, flavorful, Indian-inspired meal. I'm better off finding a hole-in-the-wall spot to satisfy my cravings!

Loved the options on the sauté menu to go with a predetermined bowl from the menu or to be able to build your own. I chose part basmati and part quinoa and lentil for some extra protein. The chicken thigh was nice and savory. The vegetables were well cut and fresh. I splurged on some samosas and some extra satay sauce. They were out of bottled chai, but I took a hot cup to go and it had a lovely flavor. The decor was kitschy, service was very friendly and the restaurant, even though I didn't eat in felt comfortable to sit down and have a quick meal.

After some long hours perusing the area on a summer day, we finally settled on INDAY for lunch and were pleasantly surprised at how good our Indian-inspired bowls turned out. While they didn't list out a vegan bowl by default, I was able to adjust one of their veg options to simply include more chickpeas and greens over rice to make a suitable lunch option. The combination of seasoned chickpeas with rice and some of their warm sides made for a great meal. Since the store is small with limited seating, it's recommended to take out and head somewhere with AC/heat so you can dine more comfortably.

A pretty good lunch time meal! Bought a chicken tikka bowl when they were running a $10 special. Very very tasty!! Ordered online and picked up at the store - all very seamless. Wish they have this deal everyday!

The cauliflower shawarma bowl was flavorful and yummy. It was too greasy though. Good portion ans perfect spice for lunch.

I got the salmon bowl for takeout. It was fine - nothing special! I thought it would be flavorful or even spicy but that was not the case.

So far, I've tried the coconut curry chicken, tamarind salmon, and kale apple salad - everything has been delicious so far. Portions are a little small for the size of the container. Other than the food, they have quick service and spacious interior! Not much seating but there are two small tables available near the bench by the windows, which are nice to have when you want to sit down to quickly eat and leave. Water is also available on the self serve counter. Great grab and go place!

I went, and maybe it's because I got there around 2 pm, that they ran out of things. It was quite disappointing. I ordered everything from a kiosk, so I didn't know that they ran out or didn't have certain things off the menu until someone manning the cash register told me after they handed me the receipt. I did get a full refund for the items that weren't on the menu. But maybe the kiosk can be updated too when they run out of things. Anyways, food itself wasn't filling. Maybe they measure out the food in the back to give you small portions of the base and toppings. It was very flavorful, but when I asked for the hot sauce, I expected HOT. Everything came out together and in an orderly fashion. I doubt I'll be going back as nothing really amazed me and so many lunch spots all over the midtown area.

I often visit Inday for lunch because it's both comforting and delicious. The Golden Curry Bowl is one of my favorites, though I also enjoy creating my own custom bowls. Their naans are absolutely incredible--whether it's garlic, chili cheese, or labne masala honey, you can't go wrong. They're always fresh, soft, and flavorful. For a classic option, their tikka masala is consistently a great choice as well. The portions they serve are delightfully generous as well. :)

My go-to lunch spot in the neighborhood. I love the flavorful, vegetarian options. It can get a bit chaotic during lunch rush, given how small the space is, but I'm usually in and out pretty quick and there is always a table if you want one. The staff does a great job of keeping track of orders too, so they notice if you've been waiting

Fast service, casual seating area, great choices grains and greens for a low-carb take on traditional Indian flavors. Tasty, light and delicious Indian flavors that are perfect for my post-thanksgiving hangover!

I am generally a big Inday fan but today I tried their summer special mango noodles (it was still on the menu) and was very disappointed. Expecting it to similar to chaat, I found this version to be very dry, flavorless, and lacking substance. The cilantro lime vinaigrette lacked lime.... Overall the whole dish could have done better with more flavor and veggies.

Overall food is pretty bad, surprised there was such a long line. Perhaps the non vegetarian food is great. There's too much rice, not enough curry, very very dry falafel. I'm really surprised they don't have a paneer option as well. Wouldn't recommend.
