YES A HAIR. i took a picture and waited to show the cashier who was helping another customer. i went up to her and i told her there was a hair in my food, she said ew and i asked her if she needed to see a picture or the food. i showed her the pictures on my phone and she asked for my food back. i gave it to her, at this point i was just ready to leave, she said they were gonna make a new one, on that i didn't even end up eating because i was so disgusted. Whoever owns this store or whoever runs it, should go spend some time there. Look, I'm a big dude, I like to eat. I'm not really picky , ESPECIALLY, when it's fried. I've been coming to Chicken Shack since they first opened downtown on Fulton over 2 years ago. My one criticism of this place is the horrible lack of consistency. I usually get the buffalo chicken fries (a rip-off for $11.49 btw) and sometimes they're on point (perfect ratio of sauce to fries and chicken) and then other times it's super dry and hardly any sauce at all. Well I thought I could remedy that tonight when I went to get another order of buffalo chicken fries by asking them to toss the chicken in the sauce but apparently they DON'T DO THAT. didn't think that was an unreasonable request but screw you Chicken Shack, I will not be giving you my hard earned money for subpar food. I cannot believe how this food has declined in the past year. We ordered garlic fries, bacon, cheeseburger, and loaded fries with spicy chicken. Had to send the fries back. They were loaded down with grease it appeared that they took the same fries put them back in the grease and refried them. They were nasty greasy. and cold. It's a no for me which is unfortunate because I love the location downtown but there are some major misses with this location. AVOID this location unless you have 45+ minutes to wait for your food. There was not very many people in the restaurant. They will also have you pay for sauce upgrades. The location was dirty. When you do get your food make sure to check it. Missed sauces and food. Plenty of people who received their food before me had to do the same thing. My fiancé and I ate here to see what the hype was all about after I heard from several coworkers that this place is off the chain. I order a chicken finger combo with potato salad. The chicken was 7/10, a little on the salty side for me. The fries were 8/10, they were well seasoned and tasted great. However, in the future I will ask for them to be extra crispy. Wings were good but my tenders were plain when I asked for them to be tossed in the Hot sauce. They didn't include any Hot sauce, not even on the side. The girl who rung us up looked irritated and cut me off when I would try to speak. I was the one ordering but she directed all questions to my husband. Weird! I told my daughter and she told me Clovis has one so low and behold the next day we hit Clovis greasy and wimpy chicken and fries NOT crispy. Service was bad, 18 year old at the counter seems over her job, no smiles, no welcome. Just a sassy snowflake. Second, owner is a cheapskate. The franchise controlled menu says an 8 piece chicken comes with 1 sauce and 16 piece has 2 sauces. The snowflake argued with me that the sign was wrong. I tried to explain the math doesn't make sense and she just proceeded to dig her heels in. The Manager said "sorry, ya the owner only wants to give out 1 sauce per order." Seriously? How is 1 sauce sufficient for 8 wings and 16 wings? Other signs of cheapness "no water cups but you can purchase water bottles at $1.50". Haven't tried the food yet because they are still making it, but frankly it doesn't matter what it tastes like because the experience was so bad, that I will never come back. Hope the owner sees this review to adjust his business before he loses it. Update: Unfortunately fried chicken bites were dry and a little chewy. Sorry for making a fuss about the sauces, we didn't end up using them because they weren't even good. Ended up using the Buffalo sauce and chick fil a sauce we had in our pantry. The owner reached out to me and offered me a free meal but then never followed up and how I could get it. So I started driving out to this location in Clovis because they do the fries the regular size instead of a small little boat. But this is it for me, I'm so over this business at this point. Quick summary of Chicken Shack? Meh. I admit, I heard great things about Chicken Shack and therefore was hyped to try it. This location part of Sierra Vista Mall near the movie theater. If it helps, Dickies BBQ used to be in the same spot. The chicken fingers are huge. They're fried up and are served in a few ways. On this trip, we had a sandwich that had two of the said fingers, lettuce tomato and onion between the buns. We opted for sauce on the side but it is offered on the sandwich too. The combinations include a drink and a basket of fries. My wife selected the honey chipotle sauce. We both tried it and the chipotle part of the sauce didn't present itself, flavor wise. It was sweet and sticky like a watered down honey. So we asked for a different flavor of sauce, which wasn't free. It is an extra $1 for additional dipping sauce. For that dollar, we got smokey Sriracha sauce. This was much better in that it definitely had both smoke and Sriracha flavors well represented in this sauce. We also got the #6 chicken wing combo. Mango Habenero is my go to chicken wing sauce. Again, it was offered on the side or on the wings. I had it on the wings. The wings has a good amount of meat on them, and were visually appealing. The mango habenero flavor was so similar to the honey chipotle that I think they made a mistake. The fries are thin "shoestring" style. With the fried chicken, fried chicken wings and French fries, we were overload on greasy food. Texture wise, the foid felt great. The crunch was exactly what we expected. The sauces were too similar and the fries were not a great option for us. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. read more
