Yummmmmm! I have not been to The Chimneys since moving away from the Coast ten years ago. My brother and sister-in-law suggested eating there last weekend when I was home for a visit - they go regularly and it's one of their favorite places. The Chimney's still has that classic, Coastal feel with terrific views and a beautiful interior that feels upscale and relaxing at the same time. We had a great server named Stephanie that took great care of us (and our drinks were always full.) I had the house salad with their amazing house dressing which is a creole ranch and the Trout 1640 which a light filet of trout with a delicious sauce and tons of fresh crabmeat and shrimp on top. If you like omelettes this not the place for brunch. I have had lunch at The Chimneys several times. Always excellent food and service. My husband and I decided to try their champagne brunch for $20.00. I love a good fluffy omelette with good fillings. I ordered the seafood omelette. The menu said shrimp, crab and crawfish with onions, mushrooms and peppers. First of all I don't consider scrambled eggs thrown on a flat top and rolled an omelette. It makes the "omlette" tough. It had plenty of shrimp (Not deveined) some crawfish and a little sprinkle of crab on top of the melted cheese. I was very disappointed that this High end restaurant does not own an omelette pan. I had as my sides green beans with almonds and breakfast potatoes. The best thing on my plate was the green beans after I added a little butter. Disappointed in Biloxi. read more

Ahh! Sunday brunch at the Chimney's! I had the trout sardou and my wife had the fried eggs and crab cakes. Both meals were as aesthetically pleasing as they were to our taste buds. But let me not leave out the impeccably prompt, attentive and professional server, Meghan, and the ambiance of watching the waves roll in on the beach while eating brunch with your bride. Atmosphere was great. Nice view of the gulf and the inside is very inviting. That's about it. My wife and I went there for our 12 year anniversary. We won't be back. Service was just OK. She ordered the trout almodine. Dry and too fishy tasting. I ordered a 32 dollar steak. Ordered it medium, it came out well done. Waitress came by later to ask how everything was and I told her the steak was over cooked. She took it back to the kitchen and shortly afterward brought back, what can only be described as a small piece of meat surrounded by a lot of FAT. Worse steak I have ever had. And to make it worse, it was as if we upset the waitress for telling her that it was fatty. All I can say is that this place is nice to sit in, but don't order the food. This was the first time we ventured out with our new little one. This is definitely not a place that we would typically bring a 2-month-old, but we were jonesing to get out of the house and have some good food in a good atmosphere. A friend recommended Chimneys, so there we were. We were greeted in about as warm a manner as possible. The hostess took great interest in our baby and suggested a couple of good places for us to sit where we wouldn't really be a nuisance if our munchkin decided to get vocal. But we were still part of the other diners, so it was very nice to be considered in such a way. Our waitress was very thoughtful with regard to the baby and gave us a good breakdown of the specials as well as some items on the menu. We chose a mid-range bottle of wine that was very good for the price in our opinion. We got a couple of apps to begin which were very good. The calamari and the seared tuna, the latter of the two being fantastic. The calamari was good. Nothing different or out of this world, but good. We got specials for our entrees which we don't normally do. But they sounded really good and we saw another table that had one and it looked really nice. The entrees were quite simply put - delicious! The temp was good, the flavor was ridiculously good in the beef tips. The service was spot-on. Not too hurried, not too slow. Just right. And the icing on the cake was when our server brought us complimentary desert (a congrats for our first night out with the baby). If it were me, I would have made an awkward issue out of it... "I'd like to say congrats on your new baby and get you guys some desert on me..." I tend to overthink these things. But our server executed this extremely kind gesture with the utmost subtlety and sincerity. She simply brought us two of the better selling deserts and had faith that we'd like them. And like them we did! All-in-all we had a tremendously good time at Chimneys. We will be back again and again to entertain friends and business associates as well as a nice little getaway when we need to unwind. read more

The chimneys drew me and my wife in with its high mark reviews and cute decor. When we sat down and looked at the menu we thought we were in for a real treat. My wife and I have had many breakfast along the gulf here and I must say this was the least impressive, but also the most expensive. My wife ordered the crab cakes and fried eggs and there was more filler than crab. My wife asked the waiter before ordering if it had good portions of lump crab but it did not. For myself I ordered the "grits and grillades" which was a tender beef with a sauce over grits. It was very much like gravy and beef on very liquid grits. The dish also had maybe two mushrooms and that was the "grilled vegetables". Essentially my meal was a stew over grits. I had it returned for the French toast. The French toast was ok. By the end of all this after receiving the bill my wife and I felt like we just got robbed. The food was nothing special and highly priced.. I'm disappointed we ever came.. $51.00 for two people and below average brunch. read more

50 meals or more, never had a bad meal yet and that is the only restaurant on the coast I can say that about. Their fried oysters are just right and their shrimp pasta are both stellar. I have been wanting to try this place for a while and was finally able to get over to Gulfport and give it a shot. The blackened stuffed filet is awesome. The atmosphere and service are great. Definitely the best meal I've had on the MS coast. We will be going back on our next trip over. read more

Lovely, lovely atmosphere looking out through majestic Great Live Oaks as you dine inside or enjoy a meal on the front porch. Spent my mother's 91st birthday there, and she hasn't stopped commenting how delicious the food is! She's right. The artichoke crab dip appetizer is extremely tasty. The Cajun ranch dressing and salad is very good; balsamic vinaigrette a little heavy on the vinegar side. My mother chose Crab Chimney with asparagus, and she loved it! I chose the tuna steak as the waitress suggested it since she saw it being cut fresh the morning of, and it was also delicious. My side of green beans with almond slivers was also perfect. They brought her a lit candle in her chosen creme brûlée for dessert to end a great lunch. The staff is friendly and attentive. Four stars instead of five is only to warn diners to expect a bit of noise as the restaurant is a former beach home which is decorated for a fine dining experience. Though the noise did not bother me, it may bother some. I plan to return many times, but especially for any special lunch occasion. Loved it! read more

If you like to pay $17 for a wilted iceberg lettuce salad with three shrimp and some crabmeat, then I highly recommend you try the Godchoux salad at The Chimneys. I do give them points for their server taking this entree off of my bill. The side item I ordered was the sweet potato wedges, and while it is a very small portion, for three dollars they were delicious and worth the price. Also they're freshly baked bread is super delicious and was served very warm. I live about one hour north of the coast, and in my city, there are way too many restaurants for a restaurant with service and food like this to stay in business. I'm not sure what the current competition for this restaurant is in the Gulfport/Biloxi area. But it must not be much. There is absolutely one unforgivable transgression that a server can commit which to me, sets the tone for how I feel about a restaurant when I leave, and that is whether or not my drinking glass was refilled at a reasonable pace. this may sound very demanding, but it just doesn't seem that hard to visually scan your tables and see who needs a refill. My glass was never refilled during my meal and as my friend and I stayed at the table to visit and catch up, our table was cleared of items multiple times, without a refill ever being offered. This was my first experience at this restaurant and I would not voluntarily request to return. However, I do hate to give the restaurant only one shot. My friend who suggested this restaurant whom I met for lunch says it is one of her favorites and that her friends have favorite items on the menu and they are always pleased with their selections I guess every restaurant is worth at least one shot, so at least take my vice and pass on that salad. Beautiful building but was not impressed with the service or the food. My omelet , potatoes and ham were burnt. Took a long time to get our drinks and our food and then wait for the check. Our waiter was confused about whose check was whose and struggled to bring out or pick up our dishes. Will not visit here again especially with so many other good resteraunts. read more

I was going to start with a pic of the view from the front porch seating looking at a view of the beach through the majestic oaks but see below that I've been beat to the punch. We decided to give this hidden gem a try for brunch today and were not disappointed. Even though the front porch is mighty hot this time of year, the view was worth it. The sautéed crab fingers and shrimp bisque were awesome starters. The poached eggs and crab cakes were amazing as was the seafood omelette. The wife went with a lunch choice ordering the trout 1460. I was able to manage a bite... wow! Deeelish! With brunch, there is a free glass of champagne with each entree or you can order bottomless mimosas. If I'm not mistaken, The Chimneys has been awarded one of the top 10 places to eat on the coast. If I am mistaken, someone should re-evaluate. This was the best brunch we have had in quite some time. My favorite local restaurant, The Chimneys serves the best food on the Mississippi Coast from a beach front location in a classically southern building surrounded by ancient oaks. Whether you're eating on the shaded porch on a pretty day or sitting in the open dining area around the fireplace, the decor is matched by the outstanding food. The seafood gumbo has a dark roux and plenty of crab claws and shrimp, and the sautéed crab claws require lots of hot French bread for the sauce. The menu is varied, reasonable and delicious. The fish is always superb. The wine list is extensive and the prices are reasonable for fine dining. Lunch is a bargain and the Sunday brunch is legendary. The food and ambience are paired with a friendly, knowledgeable staff. Always great! read more

I have come to work in Gulfport 3 times in the last 4 years. I discovered The Chimneys on my first stay and will always come back when I am in town. It is a comfortable place with a fine dining feel. If you sit at the bar (which, as a traveling guy, I usually do) you will be served by Watson. He rocks! (Ask him about the history of the restaurant.) Always let him know what you feel like, on the day, and he will never steer you wrong. Tonight, I had their most popular dish, at Watson's suggestion. I looked at him, after starting on my entree, and said, "Just...fuck" Amazing! Outstanding! Come to The Chimneys and be overwhelmed. read more

Wonderful for daughter's 40th birthday. We had wonderful wait staff who seated us on the porch for cocktails, we were able to enjoy the beautiful gulf coast view and caught up with out of town guests. We moved to a beautiful table inside for dinner. The special of the evening was a wonderful fish with a delicious crab and shrimp sauce. Our evening ended with a beautiful red velvet cake prepared by the Chef for our occasion. Unfortunately, our beautiful night ended to soon, could have stayed all night. The bartender makes excellent cosmos. Highly recommend for a small dinner party. We had impeccable service with old fashion southern hospitality. We came here with a reservation for a Sunday brunch and the table looked great and they had everything ready for us even showing up before 11am when they opened. The waitress seemed stressed like she had never handled a table of (non rowdy might I add) 8 -10 women. Her service was sort of lacking, telling the young ladies of the party that them asking the chef to change the menu by asking for scrambled eggs instead of whatever style came with their meal would upset him! It made our table wonder how they thought it was such a huge accommodation. Our waitress also kept staring at our table almost willing us to leave 20 minutes into sitting. The eggs Benedict I had was amazing, and brunch was beautiful so I will be coming back. I just hope that service will be have little more "southern style" and welcoming and not so uptight! Maybe it was just our waitress, I won't know for sure until I try again. read more

Have eaten here many, many times for special occasions, "just because" and even for business lunches and dinners. The food is always delicious and beautifully presented and the service is always stellar. The views and ambience are unbeatable. We especially love sitting on the porch when weather permits. We highly recommend the Trout Almondine, which we've had in some of New Orleans' finest and most famous restaurants that didn't hold a candle to the Chimney's chef's version. We've had many things on their menu and always been extremely pleased. This is definitely always our first choice for dining out! read more

We had our employer sponsored Christmas dinner here last weekend. I would rate everything top notch with one exception; the bartender. He was dirty looking with hair in his face and a faded out shirt. He was very aloof and hesitant to offer any drink suggestions. Apparently there's a specialty drink menu, but it was not offered for viewing at the bar. For such a beautiful, upscale establishment the bartender was a huge let down. read more

My husband and I had our date night at The Chimneys. After a long day on the water, it was refreshing to sip on a glass of chilled wine while sitting on the Veranda. The gulf breezes and the beautiful scenery added to the romantic atmosphere. The service was friendly and accommodating. The food was a bit pricey but not obscenely so. The crab cakes were perfectly seasoned. The salad was small but fresh. My husband had the fried shrimp and asparagus, I had the grilled grouper on a rice pilaf. Of course we shared and enjoyed both very much. All in all it was an outstanding dinner experience, We will definitely return. read more

What a wonderful dinner and delightful experience! We sat out on the front porch of this beautiful 'home' just before sunset and enjoyed the peaceful view of the Live Oak trees on the front lawn and the Gulf. We were thrilled with the menu, beer selection and wonderful meal. Our server, Tara, was exceptional. True southern hospitality! She even brought a cup of their chowder to try. I never right reviews but this place was so disappointing that I made an exception. I ordered a medium rare steak and received a steak that was very well done on one side and very rare on the other. Best brunch place to go on the coast! Came here with a group of 7 for my Birthday brunch. Being that it's a Sunday I know it's pretty busy but we weren't waited til 20 min after. The server could of touch our table and let us know she'll be with us or something but nope not til 20 min. We were still waiting for couple of friends but wanted to get some drinks. That probably took another 15min. Order the beef tenderloin medallion eggs Benedict probably my favorite item on their brunch menu. Their food is always good. Service was ok I felt like everything took so long kinda was bummed out cause I told my friends how great this place was. Some of the orders were missing sides and had to wait even longer for it . Our meal was one check and the server told us there's an automatic gratuity of 20% and explain that the reason so is because she has to share tip with other coworkers. What made me mad was her reasoning behind it. Management needs to let their staff know they shouldn't be telling guests that. Gratuity is not a Problem is how she went about it. You sharing tip is not my problem and I hope other servers aren't automatically putting gratuity for the same reason she did. We as guests come for the food, experience and the service please don't forget that. read more

We planned to eat brunch at this restaurant, and we double-checked the website to be sure there was no need to make reservations. Well, when we got there, the rude hostess did not welcome us but asked if we had reservations. We said no because the website did not indicate reservations are needed. She told us she could not accommodate us because they were full. In addition to the rudeness of the hostess, the restaurant was practically empty. Our family and friends will never go to this establishment. We ended up going to another fantastic establishment in downtown Gulfport, and the food was delicious. For us, the Chimneys was very disappointing because of the way the hostess acted. read more
