Leesburg 'Gourmet' was a business selling very expensive German wines, overpriced (import) chocolates from Belgium, 'beer' from all kinds of new englnd joints (for the tourists I suppose) and mugs, saucers and beer taps.. To me 'Gourmet' was just a little bit oppressive and too haphazard. Let me explain. I made some way obnoxiously priced purchases from the gal behind the counter - then half way into that the phone rang. Then the gal yacked. Then while I was chatting, some 'beer guy' came in with what just looked (and reeked) like a cooler for fishing and tried to sell the place MORE beer. It was too yokel for me. The chocolates I bought could have been found any place in D.C. and there was not much in the way of courtesy after spending $25! The place was NOT ACd and the owners (I was told) were off golfing some place.. Typical. This gourmet turned into a phone-booth, which in turn became a chat-shop, hiring fair and finally a lost corner storelet which bank-rolls some ritzy local couples' mid-week bonanza in other states.. Appetizers calamari (unusual but really tasty crust) and sweet and sour cauliflower (different crust and crispy kale with yummy sauce). Entrees osso bucco and braised short ribs both really marvelous but the short ribs - oh.... They gave my friend her choice of any dessert for her birthday so she got the souffle with a fancy presentation. I splurged on the entremet which was gorgeous and yummy and not overly sweet despite being a million different chocolate things. I stuck to the sweet prosecco and my friend enjoyed several different wines - liking one red blend so much she bought a bottle. We capped the night with Carmel cappuccinos - smooth and creamy. She asked if we were here for anything in particular and I mentioned his birthday (which in many places, they would have known from the notation on the reservation, but again, this was not something that bothered me in particular.) The rest: First, the food. Our appetizers were on the "specials": a watermelon salad and crab stuffed squash blossoms. The watermelon was good overall, but with the current issue of cyclospora outbreak, we probably would have picked something else if the menu had noted that one of the ingredients was arugula. I realize that this is just us being overly cautious but it would have been good to know in advance. The squash blossom stuffing tasted more like tuna than crabmeat. Edible but not that good. It got worse with entrees. Husband ordered the ribeye and I had the short rib. I was actually shocked to see that steak: it was SO thin. Wish I had thought to take a picture of it. Due to this, it was overcooked - almost impossible not to do so for such a thin piece of meat. A ribeye at Texas Roadhouse would have been superior to this, and probably half the price (it was criminal to charge $58 for this.) Also nowhere on the menu did it say that the seasoning in the steak was spicy. Again - would have ordered something else had he known that. Short rib was dry and the reduction sauce was overly salty. The goat cheese potato puree that accompanied both tasted good but there was so little of it that it was more of a suggestion of a side than an actual side. We skipped dessert and asked for the check, which took a long time to arrive. Eventually the waitress arrived, apologized for the wait, and set down an empty plate with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate syrup with a birthday candle. Huh??? Either give some kind of dessert or don't bother! We would have rather had no acknowledgement than this waste of time and dirtying a plate. To be clear - we weren't looking for a free dessert; we were ready to go and would have ordered something if we wanted it. But this is just weird. I'm sorry to see this place go downhill. It is overpriced and lacking in the quality that it had in past years.

This place is just stunning...the dining area, stairs with positive messages, the ordering/"shopping", even the bathroom! The service is just exceptional, above and beyond. It was a seameless process to make the reservation online and edit as needed. There were automatic emails and texts for the reservation confirmation and reminder. Each afternoon tea includes 2 pots of tea, 1 macaron/person, and additional bites (savory & sweet). Luckily, there were 2 of us, so we each ordered our own teas. I'm not sure how flexible they are if requesting additional tea pots for larger parties (max 8 people). The weekdays tea is $35/person, weekends $40/person (needs a reservation). There is an 18% gratuity to all the final bill regardless of the number of people in the party. I would highly recommend the Thai tea...I don't add any sugar or cream to my tea and it was still so tasty. I ordered the coconut macaron, which is the newest addition the the macaron family. Parking: there is parallel parking available in front of and around the establishment. There is also a parking garage roughly 1 block (walking distance), which is free on the weekends. If planning a visit on the weekdays, be sure to read the parking signs carefully. I would definitely return to try other items on their menu.

I found the Conche chocolate and cake studio and was interested in their party package. I contacted them and even on their Yelp page they advertise pictures of the parties in a private studio. We thought that was really awesome and wanted to do their cake pop making party. At no point during my discussion with their employee did they disclose that this party would not be at their private studio. There were so many chances they had to let me know during our conversations. I finally was given a contract by them and quoted over $800 for the party. We were happy to pay that but during that conversation I realized that it was casually mentioned it would be held in a restaurant. I paused right there and carefully re read everything. I made sure to ask questions and confirmed that not only would the party not be held in their private studio that the owner advertised on this very Yelp page, it would be held at a completely different restaurant. Not even the conche restaurant and no private at all. I think it's incredibly sneaky to charge someone $800 and not give a full disclaimer that this would not be held at the advertised location. Also in my personal opinion it's greedy. I told their employee I cannot justify paying that amount for a children's birthday party held in the corner of a restaurant open to the public. When initially it was advertised as private and even showed pictures. I called them out and said you do know that you have a private studio advertised right? They tried to come up with an alternative solution to put the kids in a "cramped room". While still charging $800 lol. No thank you. We have booked somewhere else. This sort of situation turns me off from even eating at their other restaurant. It's a complete lack of general care. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else and I really hope people read this review so they are aware that children's birthday parties are held at a random corner of a rest and not the advertised private space on this page.

They did have a nice selection of cookies and desserts. What caught our eye was the bread! Just a f ew items left so we snagged a regular sourdough. Staff was friendly and offered to slice our fresh sourdough bread. It felt so fresh just squeezing it through the bag. They are a small bakery with lots of parking out front. They also sell fresh croutons and other bagged bread.
