This is such a wonderful breakfast place! First, the food is delicious. Second, the portions are huge! We went with friends early on a Sunday morning and we were seated right away. I got the El Jardin omelette and the portions were HUGE. The omelette took up half the plate and the other half was entirely hash browns. I got toast as my other side but two others in our group got pancakes, and I love that that's an option! I tried the pancakes and they were fluffy and delicious. The staff is AMAZING! We had asked the chef for a special sandwich, he did not hesitate and made it for my mother and I. He and his cousin who is one of the owners, came over to the table and entertained my mother (who has some memory loss) by having a conversation with her regarding decorating. Churro Waffle is one of the best breakfast options in the area. The restaurant itself is super cute and has a nice ambience for enjoying a meal with friends or family. They have a large menu with something for everyone: waffles, skillets, omelettes, paninis, burgees, and more. They have some unique dishes such as chilaquiles and a breakfast burrito. Their breakfast burrito is the best I've ever had -- packed with fluffy scrambled eggs, avocado, and fantastic pico de gallo. It's seriously so good. Of course, their namesake "churro waffle" is great. It comes with homemade cinnamon ice cream on top that I love. Usually we get a waffle and split it amongst the group, so everyone gets to try it. I recommend getting it topped with their apple compote, it really tastes it to the next level! My favorite dish is the butcher bowl. A bed of breakfast potatoes topped with sautéed peppers & onions, crispy bacon and ham, melted spicy pepper jack cheese, and a fluffy scrambled egg on top. The flavors are great and it's prepared so well. Honestly, I haven't had a single thing here I didn't like. They also now offer delivery through Uber Eats which makes it even more accessible. The reason for four stars instead of five it two things. One time the breakfast potatoes tasted quite off; like the oil they were fried in was super old. A second time, we ordered delivery and I paid $3 to add avocado to my skillet, which they forgot. I recently had breakfast here for the first time. The customer service here is amazing. From the minute we walked in and throughout the entire breakfast everyone was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. We sat at the bar and it was a great experience. My daughter ordered the Churro Waffle and I ordered the skirt steak and eggs with the house potatoes. The churro waffle was amazing!! Cooked to perfection and had all the trimmings! This is definitely worth it for any kid or teen would love this plate. The skirt steak was okay. My only knock is that they seasoned it with something and i can't place it with what but it just tasted different. I am a salt and pepper steak type and when ever you had additional spices i feel like it can make or break the steak. The house potatoes were amazing!!!! Overall great experience and I rated them 4 stars based on location, experience and food. Although the steak was not my favorite it still was cooked to perfection. read more

The Churro Waffle is a gem of a restaurant on Irving Park and we are all lucky to have her. Excellent for breakfast and lunch. For breakfast I have not had occasion to sample the eponymous waffles, but the pancakes are fluffy and tender and oh so delicious. I also recommend the hearty breakfast burritos - the chorizo and carnitas are both good, but I favor the chorizo as it has a bit more texture than the carnitas. The country potatoes are perfect - a bit of crisp enveloping creamy insides. The coffee is solid and they have fresh squeezed orange juice. During the Covid-19 Dine In Shutdown, they are offering an $8 special of burgers, fries, and a shake. Its a great special and I recommend you try it. The burger is excellent, with a solid beefy flavor. The fries are of the steak variety and are also good. The oreo shake is fine, but is a little thin and could use more oreo. MOAR OREO! But that's just a minor quibble. Everyone is friendly, the space is bright and airy, they deserve your business, and you deserve their delicious food! read more

Everything about this experience was 5 stars! My boyfriend ordered the signature churro waffle and added the chicken tenders along with the biscuits and gravy. It is with my deepest sympathies that I write this review, but this is hands down one of the worse breakfasts I had had in a long time. I live my brunch and wanted to try this place for a while now. First and foremost, the prices are outrageous. $4.50 for a cup of watery drip coffee! $30 for steak and eggs...at a diner!! Please consider the prices before trying this place, as you can find much better quality at better prices other places in the city. The food is very basic. We got a bowl, pancakes, omelet- nothing was stellar, nothing was even good. We ate some because we were hungry but left most of our food. The biggest let down was the pancakes. If you want basic (because sometimes you do), you can get the same quality for much cheaper prices. My husband and I have passed by a ton of times and finally decided to check it out because the mini me that's 38 weeks right now has a craving for breakfast foods. We had the chicken and waffles and adobo chilaquiles. By far, the waffles were the star. My husband who doesn't even like sweets was fighting his pregnant wife for more of both the waffle and chicken. The chilaquiles were ok. So excited my friend and I checked this place out! It's in an unassuming old strip on Irving and if we hadn't known it were new, we may have overlooked it and not tried it. So cute inside! We waited almost 20 minutes and it was worth waiting. My favorite part was that they don't just have plain coffee. They have lattes, cappuccinos, and more! I don't drink a lot of black coffee anymore so you can bet I'm coming back just for that! My friend and I both got an omelette and were not disappointed by the level of cheese. Nothing worse than a dry omelette and you don't have that problem here. It's the perfect ratio of eggs to ingredients. Of course we had to be trendy and try the churro waffle at the end. I could never eat that as a breakfast item as it's too sweet. I love ice cream so it's probably better as a dessert item but I do prefer my waffles plain. Glad I tried though. read more

My friend treated me here for a post birthday Saturday morning breakfast and it was our first return visit since the restaurant's renovation. The restaurant has more seating than before and we were seated immediately but the noise level was kind of high, hence the minus 1 star. I ordered the Chorizo Skillet bowl with pancakes, my friend ordered the Eggs Benedict and we shared the Churro Waffle. The food came out hot and was delicious, especially the Churro waffle with sea salt caramel ice cream. Next time I'll probably order it to come out last because once I had a bite of it, my chorizo bowl never stood a chance. I was looking forward to eating at The Churro Waffle. When I went, parking in the strip is very limited. You'll need to find street parking around the neighborhood. Chicken and Churro Waffle: Presentation was pretty. The waffle itself was undercooked abs spongy, no crisp on the outside at all. The 3 pieces of chicken tenders was scrawny and extremely dry. A scoop of caramel ice cream was on top. Not a good tasting dish for $18. When I spoke to the waitress about the dry chicken, she only responded by asking me if I wanted more caramel sauce. Chilaquiles: Chips were extremely soggy where half of it looked like mush. Tortillas are supposed to be light and crispy. The sauce was over powered with a salty flavor on top of the salty cheese. The only thing that can balance the salt is the little bit of avocado that was on the dish. Overall, horrible dish for $13. read more
