Terrible! Do NOT go here!! I was drawn in by the Cleaning Authority corporate mailer. It looked very professional, hit on all the key reasons why I wanted a cleaning service - life is too busy, etc! I called and was initially routed to a corporate answering service that the dispatches your name to the closest franchise. So it turns out the Cary, Il franchise is closest to us. I made an appointment and the owner Dave came out for the consultation and quote. He looked professional and was certainly buttoned up and scripted. He was fairly arrogant however, and really didn't give me the impression that he was really concerned about my needs as a customer, but rather just about the contract and very cold. I should have paid attention to the red flag at that time, but I thought maybe his lack of interest and warmth maybe meant he ran a tight ship. I don't need a best friend, I just want a clean house. After the initial consultation he said someone would call me from the office to schedule my cleanings. A week went by and I had to reach out to him to find out what our cleaning schedule was! Finally we were assigned Monday late afternoon. The crew that came in did an okay job for the first month, and then it really started to be terrible. They would constantly move stuff and not put it back. We would often see spilled stuff still on kitchen counters or they were gritty. Our guest bathroom shower got so out of control the the grout molded or wasn't cleaned! Same also true with Master shower. Often the toilets were not cleaned. Dave never checked in to see how it was going, or if we were happy. Nice Customer service! After one cleaning, my husband noticed there were bleach spots on 2 new bath rugs. When I inquired about that with Dave and mentioned my dissatisfaction with the service, Dave basically said it was my fault. He said I must have left out cleaning solutions that contained bleach and the team used them, and if I'm not satisfied I have to speak up. Okay so I did. He said he'd look into it and get back to me, and decide if he would pay for the bath rugs. Hum, months have gone by, no word from Dave. So I let this crummy service go on a little longer while I shelled out $104 every cleaning for poor service. To be honest, I didn't want to clean my house as its busy working a crazy job, and it's a hassle to change services. But the final straw was about 3 months of still waiting for Dave to get back to me, which never happened. On the intense bedroom cleaning rotation they claim to do, my daughters room was not cleaned at all. The bed wasn't made, nor dusted. We only had them cleaning 2 bedrooms in total, so I'm not sure what else they did for the $104. The kitchen was a mess and the house was dusty. The other thing to think about with this type of service - I asked Dave if the cleaning materials they use (sponges, towels, brushes) were just for my house, or were they the same ones used in every house - Dave's comment was they are the same but don't worry we clean them between houses so we're not spreading germs, disease, etc. Okay, sure, have you seen some employees how they do their job when they "love" it? I can only imagine what lack of sanitary care those sponges are given - yuck! So needless to say, I finally ended that frustrating relationship. We considered using the Cleaning Authority for regular cleaning service but after multiple weeks of them pushing back when they said they could start, and then changing the time, we decided to hire someone else. We never agreed to or actually started service with the cleaning authority. We told them we'd decided to go with another company. A couple weeks later they showed up at our house and we told them we were not using their services. The crew at our house was very rude and wouldn't leave until we spoke with someone at their office. We called the office, explained the situation, and the lady at the office apologized for the mistake and we thought that was the end of it. This was about 3 weeks ago. Today, we received a collection notice in the mail for $210 from Cleaning Authority. Again, we did not ONCE use their service, have them clean our home, or ever agree to anything that would deem us liable for this. I think it's absolutely ridiculous. Good thing, since their office line claims to record calls and my office phone records all calls too, we can prove this. It's ridiculous that we have to though. If there truly was something they felt we owed them, why wouldn't they contact us rather than just sending a collection action? They know they messed up and are just trying to get money. I have team#11, Julie & Nicole. For the most part, I've satisfied with the service I receive. The girls are always friendly & usually do a good job. On occasion, there are some things I notice that if I was doing the clean myself, I would have done differently and better, but that's why I'm paying a cleaning service so I don't have to do it myself. One sore spot is the grout in the master bath shower.......it never seems to be 100% clean, no matter what product the team uses. I've been a customer for a couple years now, and for the most part, I've had the same team cleaning the house (sometimes with a trainee, and occasionally not with one of the regulars), andt I'm fairly happy. read more

The girls that have come out to my house have been on time, and are very polite. The office staff has been very helpful and getting me a time slot that worked with my crazy schedule was painless. I've had a few issues that are cleared up rather quickly with emails from owner Dave or his office manager. Had a shelf taken off the wall and Dave suggested a guy to repair. I have been using The Cleaning Authority for several years now. What I love most about them is their "rotation deeper cleaning" so every 4 cleans or so, each area of my home has been deep cleaned. Most of the cleaning teams have done an excellent job, per their training. Every once in awhile there is a person on a team who just doesn't care or cleaning homes is not a good fit for them. But when that does happen, Dave the owner has always followed through on fixing whatever was not completed correctly. I've so appreciated the integrity of Dave standing behind the work done. I've used other cleaning services in the past and found this company is a little higher but you get what you pay for. I also like to point out that these are people cleaning my home, and things do happen. Mistakes or something can get broken. They are only human. The difference is the follow-through. The company has always made it right when there has been a problem. I have a newer team currently coming here and they are wonderful! (Kudos to Jessica and Melissa for sure!) read more

The Cleaning Authority is a great service for people who want basic cleaning done beyond decluttering. You have to clean before they come because they aren't the kind of service that will work around your mess. For example I found by experience they will only vacuum around a pile of clothes on the floor and not pick up any mess. The service really depends on who you get. Several times I felt my floor was mopped with a dirty mop and was left messier than the time before, once I saw a lady just walking around with a duster not really doing much except walking around with it. Often I struggled to see what was cleaned after so did my basic initial clean before they came. One time the service that was supposed to be around 2 hours was only 1 hour and it showed. HOWEVER...for the better part of the last year, the Cleaning Authority has assigned me a wonderful pair of regular cleaners, Jackie and Margaret who made a world of difference on the service quality. They go above and beyond changing sheets, scrubbing down appliances and toilets and doing the kind of cleaning that really makes your home feel clean. Jackie and Margaret get 5 stars but the company at a whole could be better but for now I am really happy as long as Jackie and Margaret are my cleaners. I am not sure I would continue with the company with a different set of cleaners as my team. read more

I have used the cleaning authority for over a year and have found the quality of their cleaning to be sporadic. Additionally, they repeatedly send new people to clean our home with one consistent person. I wanted to write this review due to the terrible experience I had with the cleaning authority which required me to cancel my service. Our home was cleaned on 7/30/2014 and when I returned home it was obvious it was not "professionally" cleaned. There were yogurt spills left on the table from breakfast, finger prints on the glass doors, the floors were dirty, the bathroom still had a large liquid soap spill around the tub, and several other issues. I called their automated line to report my dissatisfaction with the clean. A manager called back and sent the team back to my home. When they arrived they needed me to point out everything that was not cleaned. For a professional service charging over $100 per clean, I would expect they would have a consistent process for cleaning and would be able to assess the home to determine what was not cleaned satisfactory. I had to show the inspector and the cleaner over a cup full of bath soap that was spilled all over the tile around the bath tub. The cleaner stated, as she was standing right next to me, "that was not there before"! I was shocked by this unprofessional response and stated to them "are you implying I am lying"? They did not say anything and the cleaner rubbed the sticky soap with a dry cloth. I asked her to clean the tub with some cleaner and she looked at me and rubbed the cloth under tap water instead of cleaning the tub with cleaner to remove the residue of the soap. Additionally the rest of the team was downstairs laughing so loudly it sounded like a party instead of trying to fix the cleaning in my home. I called the automated line again and stated my concerns and that I was on the verge of leaving the service and wanted to speak with the owner. I never heard from anyone Thursday. Friday morning the inspector whom was in my home called me and seemed confused why I called the automated line. I asked her if she observed anything that she thought was unacceptable and she said she spoke with the cleaner and the other people were laughing because someone almost fell. I stated again that this is unacceptable and I was on the verge of leaving and wanted to speak with the owner. Still never heard back so I sent an email on their website. I finally received an email from the owner on Monday. We spoke today and he was full of excuses. He stated the cleaner was one of his best and she had an "off day". People have "off days" all the time but that does not give you the right to come into a customer's home and accuse them of lying! He also stated he could add points to my account for 1/2 off a future clean, well what about the clean I just paid you for that was unsatisfactory? I stated I was very upset with the disrespectful treatment I received and that I did not want that team back in my home. I also stated that since I would need to train a new team on my home anyway I might as well switch cleaning companies at this point. The owner said "I suspect you have switched services before and that is not solving the issue" then he went on to explain there are people involved so he cannot guarantee homes are cleaned accurately 100 percent of the time and basically my expectations are too high. I referred two friends to this service and they have both left due to similar customer service issues. Now I know why they left. Beware of this cleaning service. For over $100 they won't even wipe your kitchen table and if you call because you are dissatisfied they will call you a "liar" in your own home! read more

The initial cleaning was supposed to be a "deep clean" of bathrooms and kitchen. Floors were supposed to be washed on hands 'n knees, baseboards wiped down, etc. This wasn't done. The second "deep clean" was supposed to be for the bedrooms and living areas, with "normal" cleaning of the kitchen and bathrooms. The kitchen sink was dirty. The tile kitchen floor was not washed. The hardwood floors were not cleaned. Basically the staff ran around with a vacuum cleaner and rearranged area rugs. I would recommend definitely NOT using this service. read more

I hired The Cleaning Authority of Des Plaines, IL around Nov 2009. They sound so nice and professional on phone but are far from it in service. Weekly rotation is a big joke. They claim that they concentrate on one area each visit and thoroughly clean them but they don't walk their talk. They just don't even have common-sense of cleaning top-down. They did cob-webs and wooly after vaccuming the floors. Just absurd!! They pushed dirt under trash cans and didn't even enter areas that are visually clean. Repeated complaints to the management fell on deaf ears. I fired them after few months. These guys are just ridiculous - DONT HIRE THEM!!! read more

STAY FAR AWAY!!!! Without a doubt this is the worst company to do business with. I hired them about 5 months ago. I had scheduled to have my home cleaned every other week, and almost every time they would leave lights on. One time in particular, they did not even close the exterior door to my home, nor did they activate the alarm system. I came home several hours later to find the door open and the alarm not set. About 5 weeks ago, they ripped a towel rack out of the bathroom wall, and did not even accept responsibility for this, instead leaving a note saying, "towel rack fell out of the wall". I am the ONLY one who lives in the house, so I know it wasn't me who caused it. They still have not come out to repair it, and only after complaining over and over, offered me $50 to get it fixed by a handyman. It would cost me double to get someoneout to my home to repair it for me. Yesterday was the last straw. I was away on business for 10 days. They came to clean my home while I was away. They again left the lights on in several rooms, and I returned home 7 days later, only to find the lights on all that time. I immediately sent an email advising them I was terminating service. They apparently couldn't care less. They simply replied by telling me, "ok, your account is closed". Apparently Dave is not connected to his company, or perhaps too good to talk to his customers, because he never bothered to call and find out why I was terminating them. As for the cleaning, it is very average.........but the service is terrible. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SORRY EXCUSE FOR A COMPANY!!! read more

Very disappointed! We were customers for over a year. When we signed up we were very clear that it was because another company was not doing a good job. We were assured this would not happen. In the beginning, the cleans were great & I even sent in compliments to the team. However the last couple of months we'd been noticing that their 4 step deep clean rotation didn't seem to be getting done. By the time we finally called to complain, the soap scum in our shower was obvious, cobwebs on our fireplace worthy of Halloween, and many other things missed/skipped. The teams they sent were in our home barely an hour. Towards the end, they had been sending us a lot of different people (we were on a 2 wk schedule & rarely changed it). Dave was supposed to come out & look at our issues 2 days after the most recent clean. We couldn't tell if he had come to the house nor was there any follow-up from him (no call, no email, no note). We ended up cleaning ourselves & canceling service. read more
