Update: they had the decency not to charge me for this cleaning. I was sold on their promise of the scheduled deep cleaning, I thought it would create accountability. I can't believe I didn't check Yelp first!? I've had them come monthly for probably about 6 months now. I've never been completely happy. I hate to complain about someone cleaning my house (especially because a big part of my job as an estate manager is training and managing housekeepers, can I just not for once!? Lol) I complained to them once and they sent their [male] QC person who caught an untucked rug tag but not a dirty floor. I decided to just be happy for the help and clean whatever they leave because it's easier than finding someone new. On days when they were to clean the livingroom windowsill I have had a finger full or dust, the hard floors are never vacuumed fully before a stinky wet mop is applied so dirt is pushed around and left to dry in clumps, the kitchen cabinets are never wiped. My freshly painted house has more nicks and scrapes after every visit. Yesterday was the breaking point. They vacuumed my pooled drapes and the whole curtain rid was pulled out if the wall (hung with anchors!) and they toppled a vase of handmade clay flowers, breaking one - no one said a word. So between never feeling satisfied, my house smelling like dirty koochie after they cleaned, and seeing damage in multiple spots that no one notified me of, I'm done. Their pricing is competitive compared to other services in the area. Our two-person team (shoutout to Team #20!) is friendly and they do a thorough cleaning job. They even vacuum our sactional from LoveSac for us! They're usually in and out within 2 hours, and always leave a Thank You note with information on when your next cleaning is scheduled. Unfortunately awful service. The first time was great, after that better to cancel. I asked them to use my products because the house did not look or smell like clean but they never did. The second time they left parts uncleaned, my husband called them and was told that they were coming back to correct but never did. The third time they never showed up when they were scheduled. The fourth time left bathroom dirty, I called the office and was told the crew they sent me was not one of the good ones, apparently some crews are better than others and I was unlucky. The last time they broke a vase with sentimental value that we bought in Greece during our honeymoon and also both the master bathroom and the kitchen stove were dirty. They do an excellent job keeping my home spic and span and offer deep cleaning when you need that extra attention. If I every have a question or a request, they are quick to respond and adjust on the spot if need be. I find the teams friendly, easy to speak to and accommodating especially over this year of remote work! Their pricing is very competitive for the services they offer. Since my husband and I both work from home we're usually knee deep in a project or on a conference call when they arrive. No worries! They totally work around us and are super considerate. I had high hopes for this company, but they were dashed today. I switched from a previous cleaning company that had slacked. In my discussions with the Cleaning Authority, I told them I needed them bi-weekly. They came out the first time and did an OK job. Today, two weeks after the last cleaning, I never got a confirmation call. I called to ask when they'd come out. They said we're not on the schedule until next week, I should feel bad about not reading my e-mail, etc. I queried the rep as to why you'd slip a detail like that into an e-mail without pointing it out. He didn't answer the question, the conversation escalated and the conversation ended with the TCA rep saying "f*** you!" and hanging up the phone on me. I used the Cleaning authority a few years ago. I noticed that the tops of things were not dusted or cleaned. The company's manager in Burtonsville told me that the workers are not allowed to stand on anything. So, if they cannot reach it, they are not allowed to stand on a step ladder to clean it. Unfortunately, just about every worker I saw was shorter than 5'5". I have a small house, not large at all. It's not like I have pictures and paintings adorning vertical space along a 20 foot tall room. And anyway, most folks expect the tops of their refrigerator to be cleaned at least. Not to mention pictures, cabinets, shelves to be dusted. And I thought that this situation was truly ridiculous. But the management was not willing to accommodate me at all. I found their work to not be thorough in other areas too, in general. Then I wanted to cancel the relationship, and was told that there is an early termination fee (which I paid to get them out of my life). They got their money in the short run. However they do not seem to care about their reputation. So, for incomplete cleaning and in flexible policies I give Cleaning authority a low rating. read more

Tell you the truth: I use them because I'm lazy. I don't have the time to be looking for a new company. The BAD: 1. The turn over is constant. 2. Often, their workers have just arrived in the U.S. (they tell me so when I talk to them in Spanish). Something like a few months. 3. They seem to wash the floors, pushing the sweeper against the walls, but not cleaning where they stop, so the baseboards are always dirty. I mean really dirty! 4. They aren't allowed on stepping stools, so tops of fridge, microwaves,and furniture are always dusty. It wouldn't be a problem if they could reach. I'm 5'2". I have seen one woman slightly taller than I am in the last two years with them. They are often shorter, sometimes shorter than 5'. So, be prepared to clean some stuff yourself. 5. They come in and turn on the vacuum -- wouldn't you dust first? 6. You must be able fluent in Spanish if you want to communicate with them. Otherwise, forget it. 7. They take less and less time to clean your house as time go by and it shows on what is left uncleaned. 8. Not sure what product they are using lately, but it is peeling off the stain on my hardwood floors. 9. Tiles are always sticky when you step on them after they cleaned. And it stay that way for a couple of days. 10. They empty waste baskets, but don't replace the bags through out the house. The GOOD: 1. Friendly women. 2. We've been using TCA for over a year and have been generally disappointed. Their price is very competitive, but you also get what you pay for. Many areas of our home have simply been growing dingy with time as details such as light fixtures, windowsills, high shelves and cabinet doors are never touched. We've made many calls and sent many emails to ask for inspections and closer attention to detail, but after one or two post-inquiry visits, we find that the level of effort quickly returns to subpar. Moreover, we've made over a half-dozen requests that the cleaning team arrive after 10:30 a.m. to allow all family members to be out of the house, but the team very often arrives much earlier than that. And finally, for a long time we wondered to ourselves how we managed to misplace two of our dinner forks and a serving spoon, figuring that somehow we threw them away. The mystery was solved when I came home from work during lunch to meet a visitor, and the two-person cleaning team was eating a picnic lunch on our front lawn using our silverware and glasses. We contacted management to inquire, and while we were told that the teams are stricly forbidden from eating, smoking or drinking in or near the client's home, we never heard back about our missing items. If you need a budget cleaning service, TCA might work for you, but I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Punctual, pleasant, & unobtrusive are how I'd describe The Cleaning Authority. They use "green" healthier cleaning products that actually have no smell. Sometimes my pictures are a bit lopsided after a cleaning, but that's because one cleaner will dust the tops of all my pictures, fan blades, & door/window frames. Only complaint I have is that my soap dispensers & other stuff are not put back exactly where I had them. My credit card is on file, & I have never had a problem in 4 years with an incorrect charge, even when I have to reschedule because I'll be out of town or when I add an extra cleaning day before a party. The Cleaning Authority was recommended to us by a neighbor who found them reasonably priced and felt they did an outstanding job. Our neighbor was also happy to be using a company with bonded and insured workers so you wouldn't be sued if they fell down the stair or something. They also supposedly use greener products which appealed to me being a new mom and not wanting really harsh products used around the baby stuff or our dogs. They did fine coming into the house with our dogs, which was good, but we had some sort of issue on almost every visit. Our house is generally pretty clean so I was looking for someone to do the deep cleaning that I don't have time to do anymore, but I was really disappointed. When they clean the floors they push dirt to the floor boards and then leave it, ewww. They won't pick up a rug or move even the smallest pieces of furniture to clean. They dust around items like tissue boxes so once things are moved, there are dust rings everywhere. The seemed to choose what to clean and what to leave, so some shelves are dusted and others are not. They don't scrub the grout in the tubs and won't clean anything that's not on their list. So they might empty the trash can but if there is a mark on the wall near the trash can, that's left there, ewww. They don't clean the oven or refrigerator, but they don't claim to either. Ok now for the real appalling, inexcusable, horrifying information. They broke a glass snow globe in our baby's room. Fine, accidents happen. Never-mind that it was a keepsake from when I was a little girl. I know this a chance you take when you let people in our house. HOWEVER, they broke the GLASS, LIQUID-FILLED snow globe in the BABY'S room and LEFT GLASS ALL OVER THE FLOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our dogs were in the house for the rest of the day with glass shards all over the floor. This unconscionable to me. Thank goodness my husband saw this before I took our little man in there, but there was glass and liquid all over the floor, rug, play mat, etc. and then left there. There we several other items that were damaged as a result of their visits but that probably comes with the territory, but this was the final straw. I can't in good conscience recommend this company. I was looking forward to a consultation with these people. I liked the idea of two flat rate sessions versus the hourly first time, given that I had a deep clean 2 months prior and had been keeping the place up. I live in a town home community with strict parking guidelines, so as I typically do, when I have someone over I clearly give the person a spot number to park in. Parking in a spot I don't own results in being towed by the owner. The gentleman showed up on time which was great. I asked him if he was parked in the spot I specified, but he was more focused on getting through the quote. When he finally focused on the parking and asked if he could just park in any spots on the side, I smiled and stressed that he really needs to park in spot 177 or he would be towed. The person used profane language to express his displeasure at having to move the car to a spot I owned. I said goodbye and closed the door. I don't know what type of cleaning job this company does as I never got an opportunity to find out. I will say that I was frustrated to have wasted time on this appointment to have a rude person show up at my door. To me, if this is the type of service I was going to get just during the quote, I can only imagine the service I would get if I hired these people. I have used biweekly cleaning services for the past 25 years. I ave used three brand name cleaning services (all have maid in their names) and two independent house cleaners. In all cases usually the standard of cleaning has gone down the longer I have been with them. I have used the Cleaning Authority since 2007. My only complaints are every picture is off kilter after they clean them and the living room sheer curtain is not hanging straight but these are minor events. I am first on Tuesday and they arrive by 8:15 so I can leave for the ESOL class I teach. When I come back, they are done. One cleaning something was broken and they left it on the kitchen table and we received a replacement the next time they came. The girls are delightful, pleasant and always greet me ion English when they arrive. I am very pleased with their work and I reward them at Christmas with a monetary gift. read more

The first two cleans were great! I was impressed with the work and the time spent . However, since then the cleaning has drastically gone downhill. What once took 3 hours is now down to an 1 hour spent. Additionally, several "focused areas" on the weekly listing (which they switch each visit) were not performed. Furthermore, not once but three times I've noticed that they never mopped the hallways. It was clear that there were spots on the floor that were there the day previously. Finally, they've broken things in the house and immediately bolted as if I wouldn't notice! Mistakes happen I get it but at least pick them up! I used The Cleaning Authority for more than a year. At first I was very happy with the service. Bi-weekly cleanings for my entire house for only $85! The first time they came, they did a very thorough job. The regular visits were never as thorough as the first, but they got the job done. Then bad things started happening. First, I found it increasingly annoying that every time they came they moved my furniture and didn't put it back. They also kept turning my picture frames perpendicular...very odd. Then they broke my wedding cake topper (which was handmade and irreplaceable). We were given a credit to our account for the estimated value of the topper. Next, we came home after a cleaning and found two large holes in the wall! Not even a note! They spackled and sanded the holes after we complained. A few weeks later, the maids let our three dogs out, but only brought two of them back in. The third dog had escaped the yard. Instead of calling to let me know my dog was out, they just left! Six hours later, I got a call from the local cops. A neighbor had finally called animal control after seeing my dog wandering the neighborhood for 6 hours! Two weeks ago another figurine was broken. The only note left was a notice that I was going to be charged twice the normal cost for this cleaning, with no explanation. I immediately called to find out why, but I got an answering service. No one ever called me back. I finally got a hold of someone in the office nearly a week later. It turns out that my last credit card charge hadn't gone through, so I actually had a balance on my account that no one ever told me about. Then last week I noticed that an antique ring appraised for $850 (a gift from a deceased friend) is missing from my jewelry box. I don't know when it went missing, and I can't prove anything since I haven't worn it in a long time. But the maids are the only people ever in my house unsupervised. On top of everything else that has gone wrong, the suspicion alone is just too much to deal with. Finally, after my very last cleaning (I canceled my service) I notice that a picture frame in my kitchen appears to have been dropped as the wooden frame is broken and cracked in three places. Again, no note, and no one seems to know anything about it. Their cleaning is just not good enough to make up for the damage to our property. read more

They charged me $200 for a tiny 950 square foot 2 bedroom 1.5 bathroom place, two girls were there for 4 hours. After they left, I still noticed cobwebs and dust above the curtains, the section above the microwave was sticky, and dust above the refrigerator. All of that might have been ok for a normal bi-weekly cleaning for $75, but not a thorough move-in move out, when the entire place was empty. I even called and they sent someone back over to complete the job, but it still wasn't up to the standards that I was expecting for $200. Will not use them again. read more

I've been using them for about 2 years. They are kind of hit-and-miss except for the kitchen appliances, which they seem to always make sparkle. The first cleaning was thorough and impressive, but then the crew started to get lazy and dust accumulated. What used to be a two-hour or more job, they started completing in about an hour for a 3,500 sq. ft. house. A call to Carlos rectified the situation the next time and the job was better, but they still left a lot of cobwebs in the corners of the baseboard. Initially I found the service to be quite impressive. Everything that was done was documented. They were on time and exceedingly precise,in fact I liked the service so much, I hired them to also clean my daughters residence. Several months in, I started to notice cobwebs from the ceiling to furniture and glass from light fixtures weren't getting cleaned. Things weren't looking too clean overall. Some of the cleaning teams were good and others were not. I was so very unhappy I called and had the supervisors come over and check the work that has been done. The supervisor agreed and had the cleaning redone. Then I got the team that speaks no English. They were absolutely lovely ladies and really tried to understand what it was that I wanted done. The work became inconsistent. I have been with this cleaning service long enough and nothing changed. Nothing was out of place at the house there were not things that needed to be organized. I called and terminated the service. I was told a supervisor would call me back to attempt to resolve my concerns. Meanwhile, my daughters were calling very unhappy with the service in Nashville Things had been broken and no one said anything, parts of the house were not well cleaned. Cleaning services are supposed to make life easier. After receiving 4-5 calls from my girls about the doors being taken off the tracks and left leaning against the wall ( those new barn doors everybody likes to have in their houses,). I have used this company for two years. They sell you on the idea that they will do an extra thorough cleaning on half the house every other time they clean, and then do a regular cleaning on the other half. That sounded good. But the reality is that they do a regular cleaning on half the house and just give a quick, swipe to the other half. There is never a thorough cleaning. I've come home to fine HUGE crumbs all along the baseboards in the kitchen where they didn't bother to move the mat, spots on the tile floor that I wiped up with water, undusted shelves, unwiped baseboards (that's been going on for months) etc. They flat out refuse to run a duster under the furniture. If the vacuum won't fit, they won't clean it--even when you ask. I dropped something that rolled under the vanity and stuck my hand in there (it's 4 inches off the ground), and it came out covered with cobwebs. How long would it take to swish a duster around? We started using the Cleaning Authority after our last service provider moved. We actually paid more to the cleaning authority but figured that is the new standard. The 'problems' began almost immediately after the first two cleanings. We noticed the stainless steel appliances were streaky. When we called they explained they do not have stainless steel cleaner, so no big deal,we will leave our cleaner out for you to use. Still the results were sub-par. No big deal. I will simply polish the appliances when I get in. Weeks go by and there are visible cob webs in the dining room light fixture. ( I now understand they will not get on anything to clean, but I think an extended swifer will get these webs. ) We call and email. Only to receive apologies. No big deal, it takes these companies some time to get a rhythm, I think to myself. After a few weeks of the same we request a new cleaning team. We went from bad to worse. The cleaners for some reason thought it was acceptable to take muddy shoes and place them on the bed. I tell no lie, to this day it baffles me WHO puts dirty shoes on a bed even for a minute. Suffice to say they were asked not to return. Management cared so much that they simply said ok. I think if you desire a good "surface" clean then this may be the company for you. However if you are looking for real house cleaners that take pride in their work then this is not the company for you. I could go on and on with the little annoyances, but I think this covers the main areas. Well that and them asking the au pair do they need to clean her room and the girls room. Yes, they asked the AP this every time they arrived. Two thumbs down. I also took some time to read the other reviews posted here and we experienced most of the same. Times being changed, furniture not moved, the floors mopped with water but no cleaner and the base boards left in terrible shape. Such a strange experience. Our first clean was pretty great, except something we paid for as an addition to the normal clean was missed. We provided feedback and they came back the next time with an inspector to make sure it got cleaned, and it was (not great, but satisfactory). The next clean wasn't bad except some major surfaces were missed (glass coffee table, for example). We told them again. The next clean was awful. I took photos of crumbs on the floor and on our breakfast table, dirt on the floor of our mud room, smudges in mirrors and missed large obvious spaces. We notified the company and asked for our money back, which they refunded. Then we tried to schedule them to come out again, basically saying we'd give them one more chance (we really wanted to work with them!) and they told us that they'd no longer clean our house (btw, the amount of cleaning our house requires is minimal as we keep it neat neat neat!). We were shocked. Apparently, this company doesn't like feedback when something isn't done to their clients' liking. If you're ok with inconsistent cleanings and being dropped when you express feedback, then this is the cleaning service for you. We're both baffled and disappointed. read more

I've been using the services of the Cleaning Authority for a couple of years, after trying many, many other local home cleaning services. This one, take it from me, is the best! Someone came to my home to give me an estimate, which was surprisingly low. But the service was top-notch. With a two person team coming once per month, I was able to maintain everything in between with minimal effort. I could be there during the cleaning, or not, according to my preference. The local franchise owner is also absolutely committed to the quality of service his customers receive. I mentioned a small issue to him once and he came by personally during the time his team was at my home to make sure everything met with my satisfaction. The cleaning results were secondary to the fact that two valuable necklaces were stolen from a jewelry box in my closet. Both had diamonds in them and the unescorted cleaning team were the only ones with access. I filed a police report (at the suggestion of the owner when I called to report it) but have had my own integrity and honesty questioned instead. I'm still awaiting resolution (although she admitted that she has insurance for these types of incidents). I assumed she may want to know that she has dishonest, untrustworthy people working for her. However, she seemed more concerned that I was trying to 'scam her' in some way. As a former law enforcement officer ~ I was truly offended. They used green products so the house doesn't smell when they are finished. Some companies use overly scented or heavily "industrial" products that can make your eyes water when you walk in!
