While visiting Cyndi and Jimbo for the weekend we went to breakfast out Saturday and Sunday. First up The Clock in Anderson but we thought we were in Centerville!! It's an old fast food restaurant that's now a local diner. Our server Alice/Allison? Was so sweet!!! Three of us order their BEC sandwich with either hash browns or the home fries which is what I got bc they were listed as seasoned potatoes. Which they were. Really well seasoned and great with added cheese and Texas Pete. The BEC part of the sandwich was perfect but then the toast was the fail because it was just cold dry toast. NO melted butter??? What is that? We're in the South, butter up my toast like the Waffle House!!! Support local and just be sure to ask for your toast to be buttered!!! ;-) read more

This is diner food. Everything is made fresh except for the green beans, but they add bacon bits to them. The fried chicken is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Ashes potatoes are meh. They come with brown gravy. The chicken livers are crispy and tender. The creamed corn is made in house so there are chunks of corn kernels. The burger is large and made to order with crinkle fries. The service was good, it was busy time. Give yourself time here. Waitress was not a good listener. I gave a 4 for food. The floor was sticky. read more

It's a good southern meat and three restaurants. Plenty of meat and vegetables to choose from and tea is included in the price. Waiting stuffs are usually pretty good about taken our orders and refilled our tea. The restaurant itself actually is pretty nice. Plenty of parking spaces. We had chicken & waffles and the fried pork. Chicken was fresh and tasty. Waffle was a waffle- nothing special Fried pork was dry. Mashed potatoes tasted like instant. Corn was good When I asked what was in the sweet potato casserole, the waitress had no idea. We were given a fork each and had to request a knife. I will say, the syrup was delivered to the table and the container was sticky. I placed a napkin around the outside and it stuck to the bottle. When the waitress removed the bottle from the table, she removed the napkin and proceeded to put it back with the rest of the syrups ( for the next customer to get sticky hands.) read more

I was on hold for 15 minutes and they never came back to the phone. I get to the restaurant I am still on hold and I tell and show the lady how long I was on hold and that I'm still on hold and it did not phase her. I ask her can I still order breakfast since I have been on hold for so long and she proceeds to tell me no. Mind you they are still pushing breakfast out from the kitchen. This was my first and LAST time at this restaurant, The Clock! I get home with my order and the lids were NOT on tight enough on the coleslaw and tartar sauce. These were all over the inside of the bag! The fish and shrimp were cooked in old grease and nasty. The fries were barely warm and not hardly cooked AT ALL!!! Absolutely horrible experience at this place, when I pulled up there were several employees outside smoking right at the drivethru speaker, which is rude if your not a smoker. after waiting what seemed life forever in the drive-thru, which mind you I was only vehicle init. I ordered a simple chef salad, after finally getting it from a very rude employee who apparently didn't want to be at her job that day, I went to eat my salad and the lettuce was horrible, had what appeared to be old cheese if that is possible and stale crackers, after a couple of bites I had to throw it away. I live walking distance from the clock so it's safe to say I eat there regularly. I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a classic, southern, and affordable meat & 3. Today I ate there during their main lunch crowd, 1:30 on Sunday. Despite the packed dining room my food was served in a timely manner and it was very good. The country fried pork chop was just a little dry, but the broccoli casserole and okra were excellent. The only side item that the clock slips on is the Mac and cheese, it's always good but the recipe is a little inconsistent, sometimes it's too dry sometimes it's too greasy, like today, but it's always edible. In my opinion, Mac and cheese should be consistently delicious in a SC meat and 3. The fried sides, (okra, squash, etc.) are always hot, fresh, and perfectly breaded. The greens are consistently flavorful, and the casseroles are always good, never great. The cobbler is different depending on the day, it's either peach, blackberry, or pineapple casserole. The peach cobbler is too bland and the blackberry cobbler is too tart, but if they happen to have pineapple casserole when u visit, get two servings! It's really a life changer. If u want a light lunch, the grilled chicken salad is AWESOME and I'm not even a salad fan. They've got a really good bacon cheeseburger but the fries aren't anything to write a review about. The service is fast and friendly no matter what time of day, so don't be afraid of pulling through the drive through during the lunch hour. Overall, if your in anderson county and want a good meat and three without having to go into downtown, the clock is for you! This place kicks tail. I have been in this area of South Carolina for a good while now and have honestly not eaten a lot of Meat and 3's. My days off are dedicated to finding good breakfasts, as most of my free time is morning-heavy. I mean, it would be hard pressed to find a HDTV in traditional country cafes out here. When I walked in and sat in a booth, received a menu, and got waiter service, I thought the Meat and 3 would not be good. Boy, was I in for a surprise. The meatloaf was my choice because most of my South Carolina grub has consisted of fried chicken and ham. Not much beef out here. Being a Texas boy, that was clearly a winner. The meatloaf was not amazing, but it was beefy and flavorful. The corn nuggets were delicious: creamy and sweet. The mac and cheese was dang close to some of the best I have ever had, and it is roughly $1; CRAZY! The pasta and dairy combination is creamy, cheesy, and smooth. The lima beans are creamy and salty. The absolute worst Restuarant experience of my life. My wife and I were thrown out of this place when we were served stone cold waffles and asked them to please be reheated. The waitress never returned ...didn't take our cold food or comment...she simple left. After a long wait I took our plates to the kitchen area "put" them on the counter and said "since you won't pick them up to reheat I have brought them to you." I returned to my booth, whereupon the manager (irate) came to our table and said our food was being prepared again, not reheated and chastised me for returning the cold food to the counter. My reply was that no one ever bothered to advise us of anything after we told the waitress that our waffles would not melt warm butter; how was I to know what was going on with no communication from anyone. At that point he threw us out. He blamed COVID for the disarray in service. All I can say is, if one chooses to open a Restuarant for business during COVID...then do so in a manner where food can be served at an appropriate temperature and don't hide behind COVID for failure to serve food timely and properly cooked. Failure to tell your customer how their cold food issue is being addressed is unprofessional and inexcusable. Finally we waited about 15 minutes while empty tables were not bused and were finally seated. This should have been a red flag that this manager did not "have his operation under control" and we should have left then and not ordered food. If a manager can't accomplish keeping turned over tables bused with customers waiting 15 minutes or longer while seating is limited to 50% due to COVID, I can't imagine what a disaster this place would be at full capacity. In closing, I am 70 and have only posted one other bad restaurant review in my life and have eaten in establishments on three continents...the Clock is hands down my worst experience. When leaving l put a $100 bill on the counter for the waitress whom I felt sorry for... the manager grabbed it, grabbed my shirt and tried to jamb the bill in my pocket, unsuccessfully... he then threw it at me. I know this sounds outrageous... it was, to be grabbed by the shirt and thrown out of a restaurant when all I wanted was what I ordered and to be told what was going on is truly outrageous. read more

Food was very good. Staff was very friendly. Will eat here again. We didn't have to wait long for our food. We came after 9pm and we were the only ones inside but there were people going thru the drive thru. Our waitress was very nice and did a great job serving. I ordered a cheeseburger and it was a large burger on a large bun. I had lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise on it. I enjoyed it very much. I ordered 1/2 French fries and 1/2 onion rings. Very good! And they give you plenty!! The coleslaw was ok but I'm not really fond of it. It has too much mayonnaise and too much relish in it. Other than that, I can say the food was really good. read more

My husband and I had lunch there twice and really enjoyed the food and service we received. On Monday we had the smothered chicken plate with salad and baked potato, and Texas toast, my idea of Texas toast is a bigger piece of bread with butter lightly toasted. And the turkey plate with corn and peach cobbler, it was served on 2 pieces of bread with gravy over the turkey. Today we both had the chicken salad plate which had potato salad and purple grapes and cantaloupe on a bed of lettuce. The waitresses are very friendly. And service is pretty fast, open till 10pm, on highway 28. We like their service and food a decent portion for the money. Have been there many times recently. read more

I've gone to or ordered takeout from The Clock about 15 times since we moved back to Anderson last summer. Today was the first disappointing meal (wife's flounder sandwich plate). She's ordered it several times before but today's sandwich was almost as if it was a square patty and it was super crispy where in past it was a fried fillet that was tasty. Even the cheeseburger plate I ordered was bordering of being overlooked. I've left a positive review in past and until today I personally hadn't had a bad meal. I usually go in and eat but last 4-5 meals I've had there have been takeouts with my wife because of surgery on July 1. read more

This will definitely be my LAST visit to this restaurant. I ordered 3 piece friend chicken meal with slaw and french fries. The menu said two legs and a breast. When my plate finally arrived, I received 3 overly fried (looked to me liked they had been fried, refried, and refried . The were cooked to a royal crisp. When I told the waitress that my order was supposed to be two legs and a breast, she told the cook that I said (not what the menu said) I was supposed to get two legs and a breast. She came back and said they were out of breasts and substituted an as stated above and overly cooked leg. I had to ask her to bring me my slaw which she did. The restaurant was not real busy (now I know why). And never order blackberry cobbler as I did on another visit. It was so hard I could even eat it. Terrible! Our food took 25 minutes to cook! And we were the only people in there! A family of four ordering simple meals. Steak fingers, chicken fingers,hamburgers and fries. The food took so long and when it finally came out it was cold. The staff seemed very uninterested in anything going on around them. They spent most of the time talking to each other. The phone rang the entire time we were there and they all ignored it. The food was awful and the steak and chicken way over cooked! The steak sauce was empty so the waitress took the nasty bottle and refilled it with something in a plastic pitcher and it was appalling! Poor poor poor. Got my order wrong. The sweet tea was soured, when I told the staff they didn't seem to care. Table was dirty. My food order was the wrong item. I pointed out, this was not what I ordered and after rolling her eyes the server took the plate. 11 minutes later my ' corrected ' order arrived. The bread was burned black, and the steak was cold. Worst of all the fries were missing. I asked for the fries and they came 8 minutes later and were cold. I asked for replacement drink for the soured tea, and they finally brought a coke after being reminded three times. They were not busy. When checking out I was charged for the bad tea, and the coke. My bill also was added incorrectly. After a long discussion The tea charge was removed. One of the worst dining and serving experiences I've ever endured. I will not go back. read more

The Clock Drive-In of Anderson is brand new. It opened up earlier this year! It is in the tradition of the historic Clock Drive-In`s in Greenville. It has a slick retro design and great food. They also have a super breakfast with real good grits and eggs. read more
