I really enjoy the coffee. It's ground and served by the cup. I haven't strayed much from the Goldie because it's a 5 Star. Highly recommend it. I've had the food a few times and I'm always satisfied with the sandwiches. They use a panini grill and grab and build in front of you. A little awkward but the product is just fine. They've recently turned into into a bar as well but I've not had a chance to try any signatures cocktails or mixed drinks. Check it out. Worth it for coffee alone. read more

Sunday brunch experience was pleasant. Quiet dim light bar that serves brunch the first Sunday of the month. The food was good, nothing out of this world, and a little on the pricey side, but overall an enjoyable experience. Service was good. Our party had the coal miners breakfast, Nutella French Toast, Spicy Smothered hash-browns, and the spicy biscuits and gravy. The pancakes where very good - fluffy and not too sweet. The Nutella FT was good but needed more filling, and maybe bananas instead of the 4 slices of strawberries in the middle and on top. The coal miner was a plateful, and the biscuits where very good. The sausage gravy was ok, and the spicy hash brown lefts you wanting something more...like it was missing an element. Neither those, nor the 'spicy' sausage gravy had any kind of spice. Had a mojito that was pretty poor, couldn't taste the mint (which was a single leaf sitting on top of the ice, rather than being muddled into the drink) Food was alright, typical bar food appetizers (missing cheese curds) overcooked burgers and over salted. Mine was so salty it left me with a headache, the rest of the group said theirs were a little heavy on salt but not as bad as mine. The bill came and looked like we had been charged more for our food ($5 burger plus a $4 salad came to $11). We were told after asking that only two of the burgers were $5, which wasn't mentioned anywhere on the menus or by our servers. Our server was polite and attentive, and it was her first day on the job. Several of the staff were wearing masks, but had them beneath their chins so they were rather pointless. Regardless if I got the bun or not, it was not worth $8. Also our waitress (who I think is the owners mother) wasn't very attentive, super clueless. What an awesome spot!! I'm in town visiting and this was the first place we went for dinner out! The vibe is very much lounge-y with dimmer lights and louder music (I went around 7:30pm on a weekday). Loved the atmosphere but the main star of the show was the food! The cheese curds are a MUST. Get them and get some ranch for them please. My boyfriend got a southwest burger (it was $5 burger night) and it was amazing and cooked very well. I got the Korean chicken wrap which was very good but I'd honestly probably get a burger next time or try something new. I've been here several time on the weekend during bar hours! But I had yet to make it out for the actually diner hours. Tonight I finally got a chance to make it out with my girlfriend! We went in and it also happened to be $5 burger night so we were pumped! I got a burger with jalapeños and bacon and fries! We also ordered cheese curds! The cheese curds were the best I've had and the sauce drizzled on top of them was sweet and spicy! The burger was so juicy and cooked exactly how I requested it! The fries are also amazing. They are like a cross between almost a Cajun/curly fry outside breading, but larger thick cut fries. The house ketchup is fantastic as well. It's like a spicy dark color almost BBQ hybrid. Besides the food, they also have great cocktails and they had my favorite local beer on tap: Devil's Anse. Overall, we left stuffed and I won't have to eat for 3 days! Our last visit was on Valentine's Day for the 4 course meal and it all tasted amazing! The steak was very generous in size. My better half and I needed a quick place for lunch and coffee and this place really hit the spot. Ordered the pour over coffee and a breakfast quesadilla (breakfast for lunch, why not??). Breakfast quesadilla was made to order with scrambled eggs, cheese and super crispy bacon (none of that flaccid crap that's a poor excuse for bacon). Pour over coffee was amazing and very reasonably priced. My better half had an americano which was equally as delicious. I'm not from Parkersburg and was therefore just passing through via D.C./Baltimore. Please take this with a grain of salt, as I am an outsider, but I hope that locals continue to support this place. Your downtown area has a lot of history and is very charming, but I would love to see it filled with more local businesses. I am not from the area, but my boyfriend is so we visit a few times a year. The DH and I stopped in here for breakfast when we were in town for a wedding. I had the oatmeal with granola which was delicious! It was on the very sweet side, complete with chocolate chips. The DH had a muffin, which was sweet and dense, as well as the Goldie Hawn- espresso with honey and syrup. The food and drink were all overly sweet, but served as a nice breakfast treat. This poor place is trying, but just isn't there yet. I've visited this cafe probably six or seven times, so my rating is based on multiple visits. I've returned each time as a way to support a small, local business, however I doubt I will go back. Here are my thoughts: 1.) Pricing: Their prices don't align with the quality and portion sizes of their food. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with generic potato chips on the side and a chai latte. My total was around $16. To be fair, the food was good, but a sandwich like this shouldn't cost more than seven or eight dollars. I've also ordered the hummus platter on several occasions. Again, the platter is good, but you pay nearly $6 for very, very little food. TCB menu pricing will make it difficult for them to compete with the Paneras of the world, where you can received better and more food for your dollar. 2.) The vibe: The general vibe of this place has potential. Decent branding, exposed brick, nice furniture. However, the music at the cafe consists of bad top 40 covers displayed as videos on a projector. The music selection is out-of-place, and everyone I've brought to the cafe has commented on it. 3.) The coffee: They've got this figured out. Every drink I've had from TCB has been great, so maybe this is a better place for grab-and-go coffee. 4.) The service: Eh, they're working on it. I can tell that all the employees are trying to get it together, however the service is a mess every time I've visited. The employees are awkward and don't know how to greet customers. During my last visit, the waitress took 15 minutes to prepare a coffee and hot tea. Additionally, the ordering system is confusing. Do I sit and wait to order? Do I order at the counter? Each time I've visited, the staff has implemented a different procedure and I'm always left confused about how I'm supposed to order. I think a customer service bootcamp may be in order. read more

This is a good start for the Parkersburg area, but The Coffee Bar has a lot of room to grow. I appreciate the atmosphere and the size of the location. Normally coffee shops do not have the budget for such large locations and are forced into small venues. The Coffee Bar has well-spaced out, comfortable seating. The internet is also fast, which is a huge positive for me personally. I would highly suggest that they use a different bean for the espresso. There is a misconception that espresso must be made with very, very dark beans. The actual flavor of the beans has been cooked away, leaving only strong bitterness. When beans are over-roasted, the natural acidity becomes stripped, which is one of the factors that give signature coffees fruity or floral notes. This coffee has neither. My only other issue is that three times I have ordered a latté and received a cappuccino. This is understandable because there is nowhere in the surrounding area to receive formal training and creating good, strong microbubbles without milk foam can be a difficult task. I truly hope that they can succeed. read more

If you're looking for cute, new place to drink coffee and chill out, TBC is a pleasant place to go. For the atmosphere, it is very cozy and relaxing. Super weird vibe Saturday night. Went out for karaoke and the guy who was running it was incredibly rude. He told us we couldn't sign up cause they cut it off- which is 100% understandable, we were bar hopping and it was late- however, he proceeded to tell us about how no one pays him and he isn't allowed to stay for tips or something.. like.. why are you telling your customers this? Customers don't need to hear about any of that. I run a bar in California and never would my employees talk to a customer this way. He was practically yelling at us about his money problems. I didn't order a single drink because the bartender was rude and very slow. Acting as if she's doing us a favor by being there. My friends drinks were pathetic. After about 10 minutes we ended up going back to My Way, who did karaoke all night and were quick at giving us drinks. Sucks because the bar is so pretty and aesthetically pleasing but couldn't stand to be in there cause the energy was so weird. Such a cute little place! The atmosphere is cozy and the food is delicious! The menu is organic based with is something we need more of in this small town. The food was AMAZING. I got the salmon salad, yum! However, everyone at our table was very pleased with their meal! Especially the house ketchup! Loved the seasonal coffees and soups. Although we were there for lunch, the drink menu looked intriguing. Many things I'd like to try! The service was friendly and quick. No wait time.
