I've always gone to the OG and followed them to their newer spot, heard mixed reviews saying this one isn't as good. I disagree, a group of us went and all thoroughly enjoyed every piece of fish and chip, even got some meat pies to go! Wasn't as busy as I expected but there are St. Patrick's day shenanigans all over. It's reminiscent of the one on Spruill Ave with the bar in a separate section, felt like less seating but maybe it's just the lay out. The only thing holding back from 5 stars was the restroom, very loose toilet seat and not as clean as I hoped. But easy fixes. Food was fantastic, I literally will debate that their fish n chips is best in the Low Country. Love Madra Rua but not for their fish n chips. The fact their tartar sauce is homemade and tastes better than I've had in high end restaurants, I honestly could put it on lots of things, might consider selling it! WOW now that's a piece of fish. We stopped by here on the way to another place but had to try it out. As you can see the fish is big and you get a bunch for chips but if the value is a point of interest and you like a lot of chips then this is for you. We did like the flavor of the fish and although the chips are firm it would have been better for us to get less chips and more fish. The plus side is they offer military discount but they charge $.50 for a cup of water. Should have asked for the $1.00 bottle instead. Finally made it to the Cod Father in Nexton! We aren't new to the amazing fish and chips they serve up here. We have frequented the North Charleston location for sometime and are stoked they are now in Summerville! It's a great location with a spacious indoor dining area and a nice size bar as well! Hubby and I finally ordered a meat and potato meat pie to share. Yum! Make sure and order one! You won't be disappointed. Since we ordered the meat pie I opted for the half size fish and chips and I am glad I did! It was more then enough. I went to the bar and asked the bartender what he recommended to go with the fish and chips and he said cider. Being that I am not a cider girl and more of a beer girl he asked if I liked wine. He recommended a Prosecco and it sounds weird but let me tell you....amazing! It was bubbly and crisp. It was the perfect pairing to the fish and chips!
