2.5-3 stars A friend and I were looking to kill some time before a lunch reception at Diamond Palace and we decided to grab some coffee from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL). Truth be told, CBTL is not usually the first thought of a coffee shop to stop by as there are so many better coffee shop options around, especially mom and pop ones in Diamond Bar. My friend commented that she had not been to a CBTL in like 8 years, and after our visit, probably won't be to another CBTL until another 8 years later. I agree, as I just do not prefer their coffee (and their prices)... When we stepped inside, there was no greeting, nothing. Yes, they were all busy but no acknowledgement. After standing at the cashier for a few minutes, were we finally acknowledged. They were not short-staffed by the way. After ordering, I asked for the code for the restroom. The restroom was incredibly dirty with no tissue paper, and the lock did not even work! I think the battery was out since it kept beeping... I tried locking it a few times to be extra sure, but nope it did not work as another customer almost came in as I was using the restroom. The one thing that makes me usually stay away is their use of powders in their drinks. Powders do not dissolve better than syrups, liquid forms, so sometimes drinks can separate. After ordering their cup of coffee, I was put off by them handing me individual cups of half & half. Not from an actual container where I can pour the half & half, individual cups, like a McDonald's or a fast food restaurant. At the cost of their coffee drinks, one would expect something different. There was plenty of parking on a weekend. Easy in and easy out. There are a few tables on the inside to enjoy your coffee and items. There are no napkin dispensers so I guess one would need to ask them for napkins as well. read more

Ordered a much craved matcha latte only to find myself with milk and a splash of "matcha"... not sure if the recipe has changed or why the lack of matcha but this was not it... 3 stars because, it was fast served, staff was nice and the location was clean. read more

Last week the hubby and I stopped by for coffee and light breakfast. The service was top notch (think it was the manager), who was friendly and made small talk. Our coffee was perfectly made to our specifications, easy cream and one sugar. I ordered the avocado toast, a pleasant surprise, it was thick slice of bread generously smothered with smashed avocado and topped with sliced hard boiled egg and sprinkled with everything salt and seeds. Super filling and delicious. The hubby had the sausage and egg burrito, which was good. Great service and attention to detail!! read more

Vietnamese cold brew with supposedly no water (all cold brew) and light ice. This picture was actually taken after I took half the ice out. I used to love this chain's cold brew, but the quality has changed over the years. Cold brews are watered down despite asking for no water and all cold brew. Also, the 32 ounce plastic cups are so flimsy that they tip over if I hold it in the middle. Everything about this chain has gone down except its pricing. Coffee bean good brew used to be my go to drink but now Starbucks cold brew beats this all day long. read more

Love their coffee! Their Vanilla coffee is amazing. Starbucks could never. The jalepeno bagel is my favorite breakfast item. The service is always fast even when they're busy. I always like CBTL and have been enjoying them for years. I even religiously order their espresso pods online every few months for drinks at home. I come to this location because it's the closest one to me, but it's by far the worst one. I don't have any problem or complaints with the staff, they are friendly and always seem to be working hard, but it seems like they never seem to have enough staff scheduled to work and there always seems to be technical problems here most times I come. In the past... *I couldn't order on the app because they were having system issues *it closed one day I came by for some unknown reason, just a sign on the door saying they were closed. *they wouldn't honor my coupon because they were having technical issues *only the drive thru was open but they were only accepting cash *I stood in line forever inside to order because they were so busy fulfilling orders in the drive thru. I was even told by the manager that I should go in the drive thru at this location because if I stand in line it will take longer. On Saturday, I came in for the BOGO promo. I was told l had to get a different drink because they ran out of ingredients for the matcha drink I ordered. I waited over 20 min and still didn't get my drink, and I had to ask to follow up on my order. I even went to the restroom while I waited (no toilet paper at all so staff had to help with that too). For whatever reason, my order wasn't put through. Human error or tech error, it just adds to the list of problems I get when I come here. So sad that it's becoming the MO for this location and I've come to expect something to go wrong on my visits here. I walked into the location to order a drink on the mobile app and I did by mistake order a drink at a location that was not anywhere close. I asked the barista to help me out and she told me sorry I can't help you then I asked another barista for help and they got the manager. The manager came out and told me that they can't make my drink. I showed her my order on the app and she said we don't hand out drinks like that. I asked her if she would make one for me since I already paid for it and she told me no we don't do that. I used to work for Starbucks and I don't do things like that and so I did call Corporate and tell them what happened. Came here to study on a hot day and got the ice blended hazelnut. I liked that there is a lot of parking outside in the plaza, and that the AC is blasting, though after a while it could get too cold. There are a lot of chairs and tables inside and very spacious, but I wasn't a fan of the furniture. You'll often have to lean over or hunch down because the chair is often too high and the table is too low. Not all tables have outlets either. Also annoying is that the bathroom has a passcode that you'll have to get from the front. The ice blended hazelnut is not bad, does have some coffee flavor and great on a hot day, but it was a bit too sweet and could've done with more hazelnut flavor. read more

Barista with a snotty attitude- mobile ordered multiple drinks and went in to get them, they were still being made- two iced coffees one with whip cream and one without. She put flat lids on both- I said "Miss the one drink has whip cream on it." Her reply "I know I'm getting to it, I know it has whip cream" proceeded to take flat lid off, add whip cream, and put Dome lid on. Went through the drive thru this morning and ordered a decaf hazelnut latte, (I'm pregnant and have been drinking no caffeine throughout my pregnancy, I've been getting everything decaf) and a couple sips in I realize it has caffeine in it. I was already at work by then so I couldn't do anything about it, but extremely disappointing since I can't drink my latte anymore. It's expensive, almost $7 I had to throw away because it was made incorrectly. Not only that, but drinking a lot of caffeine can be dangerous for my pregnancy which is why I haven't had any this entire time and could tell that it did. Drive-thru service was surprisingly slow and I was the only car in line on a recent Saturday afternoon at 430 pm. It took nine minutes and thirty-three seconds to receive two Jasmine Peach Tea beverages. A tad on the slow side. As someone who frequents Starbucks quite a lot, I wish that there were more Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf locations. Their coffee doesn't seem too watered down as compared to Starbucks at times. This location is very convenient because it's right off the freeway, and there is also a drive-thru. I usually order their iced vanilla bean latte but tonight, I had to try out their iced mango matcha latte. Who ever knew that mango and matcha made such a great combo?! Frequent this location about once a week. Chris S. (Barista) was disrespectful, rude, and slow. He blatantly stood at the counter, chatting with a friend while holding the cup for my latte but not actually making it. We made eye contact several times and he still did not bother to work on my order. Thankfully Paola stepped in and asked him to get started. He rudely retorted back to her and gave her attitude. I can definitely understand why this CBTL has a 3.5-star rating. I have been here numerous times, and sometimes they are on point, and other times not so much. It is not that the staff do not try, I just feel that they need more guidance. Similar to other stories, I once tried entering the store during hours they are open (after 5am, as example), and the lobby was locked. I knocked on the door and advised my mobile order should be ready, and the staff member closed the lobby door and left me outside in the cold (30s-40s during wintry mornings) for a few minutes until they retrieved my order. I am not really sure how the store can be considered open when they were not letting people inside. I understand if there was only one person and they felt it was a safety concern, but there were at least two staff inside, so I am not sure what that is about. The food and drinks have not disappointed me; only the level of service. Perhaps they should consider having an on-site manager to ensure things are running smoothly. read more

It was a good place to study/hang out since they have plenty of seats and charger stations. Plenty of parking out and 2 gender-neutral restrooms inside. The cashier that helped me was a bit rude. She was busy and was helping out making the drinks after working the register... but her tone and attitude were just... rude. My Mom and I were meeting a notary at this Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Diamond Bar. It is a cozy place similar to Star Bucks. While we were waiting, I ordered a mocha frappe. It was good... very light and smooth. I'm not a big coffee drinker if at all, but I do like an ice cold frappe from time to time. Staff was pleasant. Prices are okay. Ambience was relaxing... people had their laptops and heads down typing away. Others were just chit chatting away. Stopped in along my dog walk for an iced latte and a ham and cheese breakfast sandwich. Service was friendly and i got my order quickly. I do have 2 critiques. When they warmed up my sandwich in the microwave, it was way too long, as the cheese melted and flowed right off the sandwich. Also it turned the bread rock hard on one size, making it inedible. Since i had my dogs, i sat outside at the dining tables, but decided to go elsewhere since the tables and seating were all wet from dew. I tried wiping table but it turned to dirty wet muck.
