Delicious Jeju Matcha Latte!! I got the Jeju Matcha Latte. My first impression was that the color of the matcha was a beautiful green color, and the cup sleeve was so cute! The drink itself was so good! The matcha latte is a bit more bitter than regular Japanese matcha lattes, but it was still very good. I got mine with oat milk so the flavor was more enhanced. The cafe had tons of seating and tables, and it was very clean. There were a handful of people studying, and there was still a ton of seating. The dessert display had lots of options, and it all seemed very stocked up for a Saturday afternoon. There's merchandise, stickers, and coffee grounds sold in the shelves against the wall. The employee was kind and patient. I took a while looking at the menu, and he was patient. He made the drink, and he made it very quickly using the matcha whisk. I would come here again! Ahhh I'm pretty sad about this review. I like Smoking Tiger and love their Pineapple Express from their San Gabriel, Buena Park, and Cerritos location. My Pineapple Express taste like the tea has been brewed 3 times over. Our drinks were super light tasting and more watered down. They remade our drinks for us and it was the same batch. One guy went to go investigate and try it for himself but the other guy was already remaking our drinks. Im used to a smaller cup which it packs a punch but im noticing that they used the 16 oz cups, and we got it on a 20% off Pineapple Express day, so wondering if they're watering down on purpose ? Legit coffee so close to me from work! This replaced the old boba shops they used to have here, but thank goodness smoking tiger is here. Students are studying, chatting around. Perfect place for quality coffee and pastries! I didn't know there was a Smoking Tiger app, so I got my $5 off for my first drink, which was the Bori-cano. This was pretty delicious! I enjoyed how it was nutty and light. It was also got me really wired, so that was well worth lol. They sell all the viral chewy cookies here for around $4. Drinks are made quickly since it seems that have a good amount of employees behind the counter, when the store isn't too busy. Compared to other coffee shops, it's not as aesthetic as the other smoking tigers, but it's still pretty decent. Such a great spot to hang!!! Came here on Mother's Day with our loved ones & we're pleasantly surprised by the charming atmosphere of this shop! We were politely greeted and served excellent coffee. My friend and I stopped by here on the way to their apartment, and it was such a vibe! Drinks were sooo good! We shared our drinks w two other friends, who enjoyed all three lattes as well. My banana milk latte was exactly the flavor I was hoping for, with the nostalgic 바나나 우유 taste from my childhood! I ordered the Banana Latte at Smoking Tiger with 50% sugar, and wow--it was unbelievably sweet. I drink sweet drinks all the time and usually have no problem with them, but this might honestly be the sweetest drink I've ever had. Even at half sugar, the sweetness completely overpowered the banana flavor for me. The drink itself was well made, and the cafe has a nice vibe. If you have a serious sweet tooth, you might love it. For me, though, I'd definitely go with a much lower sugar level next time. read more

First time here and it was really good! Tried the Tiger Latte and it was just right - good coffee flavor but also sweet enough without being overly sweet. The breakfast sliders were enough for two (for a light breakfast) and the egg was soft and fluffy. It's four sliders on Hawaiian bread with egg, bacon, cheese, and avocado. It comes with a mayo based sauce and a spicy sauce (great kick!). Sauces are on the side, which is fine because it tasted good on its own, too. Also tried the jalapeño spam cream cheese pastry and that was tasty. The lemon earl grey sconkie (scone+cookie?) was also good; you can taste the earl grey and the lemon cream is a balanced sweet for the pastry. The service was friendly and the girl answered a few questions we had. It's a big place with lots of seating and even has some drink mixes for sale, along with some merch. First time here!! Glad we checked it out today! Located near the Cal Poly Pomona campus, Smoking Tiger Coffee Lab is where JJBoba used to be. Parking is plentiful and the coffee lab is clean, bright, and inviting. The mascot tiger is super cute, smoking a pipe. Friendly staff who help you through all the various choices, including what kind of espresso you would like in your drink! Lots of matcha and coffee drinks. We ordered an espresso tonic and a strawberry matcha, both iced. The drinks were made to order and ready in 10 minutes. The iced strawberry matcha (5/5!!! )brought nostalgic happy memories of my childhood--authentic strong bitter matcha like in Japanese tea ceremonies; --and strawberry milk like my mom made for us (fresh cut strawberries with honey and milk on top for a healthy dessert). So glad I tried it! My husband ordered a second drink, an iced Tiger latte (caramel and brown sugar espresso with oat milk) Lots of tables available where friends gather to catch up, or to study. I have frequented the Brea location a couple of times with friends but have never been blown away by their drinks. A few months ago, I also noticed a new location at the 99 Ranch on Nogales. I didn't know of this location until I saw a coworker with a few drinks from Smoking Tiger and they mentioned one location opened up near Cal Poly Pomona. Tiger Latte (Regular, Hot, Less Sweet) $6.25 It was so hot that the flavors are not being extracted from the beans, flavors are nonexistent. It just burns one's tongue and the coffee tastes bitter or burnt. (This reminded me exactly why I do not usually suggest Smoking Tiger Coffee Lab when I meet with friends or grab coffee for myself.) Espresso 3 shots (Decaf, Oat Milk) w/ Club Soda on the Side $5.50 While it is great that Club Soda is included, it's an interesting cleansing palette as opposed to sparkling water. I was greeted as I stepped into Smoking Tiger, also by the display case right next to the register. Everything looked delicious in the cake display case, but also way out of my budget. There was a promotional calendar near the pick-up window so I did not realize that the Tiger Latte could have been way cheaper had I downloaded their app before ordering. First off, I know I am in the minority for not being a huge fan of hot espresso drinks from Smoking Tiger, but maybe only cold drinks are the way to go here (which cold drinks are not my usual go-to). There were some available parking spots but I cannot imagine how it is during "work/school" hours as there are plenty of storefronts in this plaza. Smoking tiger is a really a great chain. This is thier new recent location in a strip mall. Parking is ample in a tight lot. The decor inside is fresh and minimalistic. There are ample hang out areas. The pastry here ate all too notch with my favorite being the earl grey sconkie. The sandwiches are usually on point as well. If you're looking for a coffee spot that has creative drinks, you have come to the right place. They have unique flavors that you will not find at other coffee places. Please DO NOT SKIP on the pastries as they were mind blowing delicious! This location was pretty spacious and plenty of tables to do work or have a coffee date. Staff was nice as well. Sweet corn latte: (3/5) -had better corn coffee but this was still pretty good. I think the espresso was a little too overpowering against the corn flavor and prefer a better ratio with more sweet corn Seasonal: Hotteok latte (5/5) - this drink took me by surprise! - strong cinnamon smell but not too overpowering taste which I like - it is on the sweeter side which I don't mind and prefer - it was so smooth to drink and the flavors blend well together with the coffee and it also had a nice crunch with almond bits - definitely one of my favorite flavors from here Black sesame hojicha (4/5) -could be sweeter, but enjoyed this blend. It had a good ratio of sesame and hojicha where no one flavor was overpowering, but mixed well and love the nuttiness of the mix. Pastries I tried: -Cream cheese garlic bread -Garlic sausage -Honey butter walnut bun -Creme brûlée Gogumq -All the pastries I tried were on point !! You won't be disappointed! I loved them all!! Welcome to Smoking Tiger Coffee Lab - Pomona edition! The newest addition to the chain is located just east of Cal Poly Pomona in the shopping center on the NE corner of Temple Ave. x Valley Blvd. - where Carl's Jr., Azteca Soccer, and Dominos is located. It's close to my home so I am thrilled! They're currently in their soft opening phase, but they already have a good number of customers coming in and out, or sitting and studying. There are a good number of tables inside and a couple small ones outside also. It's good to see this shop breathing life into this plaza, as it's pretty quiet every time I come by here for Uncle Chuang's, or just driving by in general. Service is super friendly but pretty slow, but it's to be expected for a new shop. I picked up a few pastries and the Black Sesame Hojicha off the Seasonal Menu. It was so tasty, I really enjoyed it. I even got a smoking tiger sticker with a purchase of a seasonal drink. Other current seasonal drinks are Hotteok Latte and Black Frost Latte, which both sound amazing. I will have to pick that up on my next visit. They now have an app for you to order ahead. You can also provide them with your phone number for rewards. I don't know what the rewards are, and I didn't ask today, so I'll have to find out next time. read more

Was pleasantly surprised that smoking tiger has been expanding so much! I work near here so I've been coming with my coworkers to try out their drinks and pastries since it's walkable distance. I've been to their location in San Gabriel and can say this location is a lot better and spacious compared to that one. I got the app which has been convenient as I order online and can pick up right away. I've tried their seasonal drinks: black sesame hojicha and hotteok latte, and most recently, the raved pastry: cream cheese garlic bread. 1. Black sesame hojicha: 5/10 Was expecting more hojicha taste but left a bit disappointed. It was more grainy and not fully incorporated, also not a lot of black sesame taste actually; more ice. 2. Hotteok latte: 7/10 Loved that this drink was Hotteok-inspired as the nuts on the top was a nice add! This drink was very warm and cinnamon-y. As someone who doesn't drink coffee too much, this was a delicious drink. 3. Cream cheese garlic bread: 8/10 I get the hype - I didn't expect chips on top of the bread as well but this was very addicting and delicious. The cream cheese wasn't too overwhelming and it complemented the garlic. Garlic lovers, you definitely need to try. However, I don't think the price justified the size of it- almost $7 which is basically a drink at that point. Wouldn't get it again but it was nice to try read more

One of my favorite Korean coffee chains opens up another location. This one came not too long after Rowland heights location near Cal Poly Pomona is the best coffee shop in the area. This location has the same decor but is a bigger location than Rowland Heights location. They have their signature lattes and also do seasonal lattes. Out of the signature lates, my favorite is the banana latte. Making a good banana latte is not easy and I've had many bad versions of this latte. This one balances the richness of espresso with banana milk. Not too sweet, but you can adjust sweetness level. Great pasties mainly breads and a scone/cookie and cakes. I really only get coffee l, but I imagine the non coffee drinks are great too. This location is about the same distance from the Rowland Heights form me from the IE. I hope one day there will be Smoking Tiger in the IE so I don't have to drive so far, but this place is worth the commute. read more

I've come a few times typically before 8am or lunch time and it hasnt too busy. The app is also convenient for pickup orders. I've only had the matcha latte both hot and iced and I've enjoyed them. I'll def be back to try out their other flavors. This place reminds me of Alfred coffee chain in LA, just with a Korean remix. Smoking Tiger def one of the better cafe chains around. There is also a good amount of seating in case you need to study/work. Workers are very friendly and there are good options to choose from. Stopped by on a Saturday morning with the family and loved it. It's pretty buzzy but spacious, with plenty of tables inside and out. The sweet corn latte was a standout, my husband's tiger latte was excellent, and the garlic cream cheese bun was perfect for sharing. Clean and simple interior decor. Brand new location very close to Cal Poly Pomona. Apparently they have locations throughout LA and OC. They are still training employees using developed employees from other stores. Service seemed to be very attentive. I had the Tiger Latte while my gf had the Smokin Spaniard. The coffee was decent and the drinks were well prepared but nothing out of this world. Not saying there is anything wrong. Just nothing that would push me to go out of my way to grab a drink there, but definitely would grab one if I am in the area. I did ask about their cheesy garlic bread and they said they should have it in a few weeks once they get established. I might head back in to try that, it looks appetizing. Was in the area dropping off my dog at her sitter and was excited to try the banana latte the main reason I came. Unfortunately it wasn't my favorite. The banana flavor tasted more artificial kind of like banana Laffy Taffy rather than real banana. On the flip side, I also tried the corn latte and WOW !!! it was actually delicious. It was so good! I went a little early morning so it wasn't too busy. Got my drink pretty quickly and the guy making my drink was so nice and mentioned if there was something I didn't like about it they'd be willing to make it better m, which I thought was neat. The cashier was super friendly! I let her know it was my first time and told her which ones I was debating which she directed to their black sesame seasonal drink. It was so good! It took everything in me not to take it down in one gulp. When I went they did say their baker was out unfortunately so they didn't have too many breakfast items or bakery items. I definitely want to go back and try their food and also other drinks. My usual order here is a banana milk latte but today it was really sweet, much more than usual. But I came here just for the Dubai chewy cookies and they were awesome! I also loved the black sesame ones, it really balanced out the sweetness from the chocolate one. I do wish they would sell them separately because I don't need four I would honestly go back more often and get them if I could just buy one. My buddy came here with his girlfriend before coming over to my place today. He got a couple of drinks and thought they were solid as they are at other locations. The employees there were also great apparently. Unfortunately the good stops there. He ordered a breakfast burrito ($16) and brought it over to me. When we bit into the burrito we discovered that it was icy and cold. Perhaps they didn't reheat it properly? That totally ruined our appetite. Glad to see that Smoking Tiger is continuing to expand its locations. To start, parking is pretty spacious in the lot. There is quite a bit of indoor and outdoor seating, and it is conveniently close to Cal Poly Pomona. I went during grand opening on Saturday, so there was a really long line and I expected a wait, but it was super slow. I got there around 8:55am and didn't end up ordering until around 10:30am. We got the strawberry matcha latte, black sesame hojicha, and the Dubai chewy mochi set. Having had the black sesame hojicha before, I can say it was good, but the first time I had it at another location was better. The hojicha was a bit chalky and slightly bitter. After lots of mixing, it was a bit better. The staff took the Dubai chewy mochi out of the fridge and recommended I wait at least 10 minutes before consuming, so I ended up taking it home, and I'm glad I did because it was quite messy. The Dubai chocolate mochi was good, but halfway in, it got super sweet. The black sesame mochi was less sweet, but it was also a bit more dry due to the large amount of black sesame powder on the outside. I do think it's nice that they sell it in the US, and I appreciate the textures in this dessert - crunchy on the inside and chewy on the outside from the marshmallow. I think it's worth trying once, but otherwise $20 for a box of 4 (promo price, original price is $22) is quite pricey. Overall, Smoking Tiger is a modern, trendy Korean influenced coffee shop with good drinks and variety of pastries. Having been to multiple locations, this one didn't quite impress me as much as the others, but it's still a good option in the Pomona area. read more

I had the iced black sesame hojicha. I had brought my own coffee thermos, so they were able to accommodate that and I got a small discount. My favorite treats/snacks there are the lotus sconkies, cream cheese garlic bread, and the buldak chicken hand pie. The staff is really nice. I was introduced to Smoking Tiger by one of my students (I teach at Mt. SAC), and now I'm fully obsessed. Like... it's part of my identity. I was unreasonably happy when they opened one 7 minutes from campus. That was the beginning of the end (for my wallet). If I had stupid money, I would 1000% drink the Jeju Matcha Latte (iced!) every single day. And you cannot go wrong with their signature garlic bread. I always come prepared with a Lactaid because that bread is worth fighting my genetics for. Also: the staff is SO nice. One of the girls always has the cutest nails.
