Ah, Coffee Bean. Can't go wrong with Coffee Bean. It always brings me back to my west LA days (there are a lot of them there!), and this one is a great location. My favorite is the hazelnut latte. The coffee is consistently good here, the staff is always welcoming and personable, and the interior is clean and comfortable. So nice for stopping by to get coffee, or sitting and chatting with friends over coffee. I noticed a lot of people commented that the drive thru is slow- I have done the drive thru a few times, and on one occasion, it was indeed extremely slow. I come here quite often on a regular basis because I prefer the drinks here over Starbucks and the employees at this local Palma location are always amazing except for one person I've never complained about because she consistently overcharges me and does not have the best attitude but today, especially on Thanksgiving when I was trying to be gracious and play I'm with my daughter. Lauren serves us coffee when I always order hot cocoa. I don't drink coffee or caffeine. My daughter immediately smell that I tasted and I handed it back and said this is not hot chocolate she said yes it is I said no it's not. I said you can smell it taste it. I just tasted it. She said we'll find them and give it back I've never had somebody talk to me so blatantly, rude and inconsiderate. I would appreciate management contacting me back to discuss the service today. Came by over the weekend while my husband was doing some lab work across the street. I ordered an Iced Matcha Latte, which already comes sweet in the ingredients. The place had a pretty busy drive-thru, and I was an in-store customer. There's no indication of a line and customers who are waiting for their order typically just stand anywhere. It's hard to know who ordered already and who needs to order, esp since the workers aren't greeting you when you enter. The person who took my order wasn't very friendly when I had asked if the matcha latte comes sweet, so it's safe to say I probably won't be coming back to this CB&TL location. read more

We love the chorizo breakfast burritos and hubby loves the macha. We have been ordering them often through Doordash. Last week they gave our dasher the wrong order. Fortunately, he was able to go back and make it right. Today, they gave our Dasher only the drink, not the food. He spent 30 minutes going back and forth to get the correct order, which he didn't have to do, but, we greatly appreciated it. I know that the employees hand the order to the dashers, the orders aren't on a table for the dashers to freely take. I tried calling this location, to help out the dasher,but, after it rang for a long time, a recording tells me that the voicemail is full and I cannot leave a message. I was surprised and have never had that happen at this type of place. I looked on yelp and see this location has 3 stars. That explained it. No more ordering from this location. For a chain the coffee does taste good but i have consistent issues at this location. Biggest being the poor customer service (i have an inclination it's from poor management tbf all the signs are there for that to be the problem) as nothing is their problem and how long everything takes. The app constantly has problems as well which compounds the issue and these problems don't seem to happen with any other coffee app. I go too often, have gotten too many problems, and never received a decent solution. Dude with the mustache shouldn't be in a customer facing job, not because of the mustache, just because he's not good with people which is fine but should be noted. I've been more or less a regular and i think after today I'm pretty much done at least with this location I guess. I hate leaving bad reviews, I hate feeling like a Karen. But this has happened to me and my friends who have gone to this coffee bean and with the same person! First, the girls on the bar making the drinks always come out good. The girl who was there 8.30 at 11:05a, amazing ur an angel. The drinks were amazing. There's one constant person who messes up or makes the worst drinks and is rude and literally the worst help I've received from that store. I didn't get his name but he's a bigger dude, mid tall, glasses. Omg anytime he's there I rather. Or get a drink. He messes up and when you tell him he's like I made it and i made it correct well dude let me tell you you've messed my drinks and my friends who go there EVERYTIME. I am writing to formally report a deeply upsetting experience I had at your La Palma location (5510 La Palma Ave) on November 6th, 2025, at approximately 9:30 AM. I have been a loyal customer at this location for about four years. As a college student I have probably spent about $1,000 or more on coffee this semester from this location alone. On my last visit to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf on the date mentioned above I placed my order through the mobile app a few minutes before arriving. When I pulled up to the window upon receiving my drink I noticed it was poorly made. In response, I had politely requested for my drink to be remade, I returned my poorly made drink to the barista and she agreed to remake my drink. However, moments later I was confronted at the window by the store manager, Christian; a tan, heavyset man wearing glasses. Without any prior discussion or clarification, he abruptly stated: "Chris" (store manager): "You always come here asking for your drink to be remade, This is your third time requesting a remake. At this point you're doing it just to get free items. You have also attacked other employees to get free items. We are denying you service from now on." I was stunned by these accusations. They were completely unfounded and delivered in a very disrespectful and accusatory tone. At no point have I ever tried to follow any hidden agenda to obtain free items, nor have I ever "attacked" or mistreated any employee to pursue free items. On the occasions I have requested a remake, only when a drink was noticeably incorrectly made, I have always returned the original drink and remained polite and patient. To be accused of dishonesty, to have my integrity questioned, and then to be denied service without any evidence or reasonable justification was extremely upsetting and unacceptable. This experience has not only damaged my trust in this location, but has also ruined my perception of the professionalism of this brand and additionally made me reconsider my loyalty to the brand as a whole. read more

I want to share my personal experience at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in La Palma (5510 La Palma Ave). On my most recent visit, the supervisor on duty, Elizabeth, denied me service. She told me that she was following instructions from her manager, Christian, a heavy set man with tattoos. In my past visits, my interactions with Christian have not been positive. In my own experience, he has come across as rude, and the drinks he has prepared for me have often been poorly made. Whenever I've politely asked for a remake, he has seemed irritated. Because of that history, hearing that the order to deny me service came from him was extremely frustrating and disappointing. This situation left me feeling disrespected as a customer, and it's not what I expect from Coffee Bean. I have been a loyal customer for over six years, but I am done with this management team Coffee bean has selected to run this location. Avengers Disassembled... Our latest mission landed our Quinjet to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in La Palma, a place that once brewed coffee as bold and smooth as Thor's hammer strikes. But alas, even heroes have their downfalls, and this coffee chain has been struggling against its own Thanos-like decline for the past handful of years--the Infinity Gauntlet snap has cut the quality in half--and the half without the enchanting magic of Dr. Strange. Ambiance: The ambiance remains decent, much like the headquarters of S.H.I.E.L.D.--functional but not extraordinary. There's some good outdoor seating, ideal for a quick meet-up with fellow heroes. However, the lack of exciting improvements over the years means I now prefer to rendezvous at other coffee spots. Nick Fury must have gone into hiding. Better go look for him somewhere else. Coffee: Once upon a time, the coffee here was a mighty force to be reckoned with, bold and tasty like the energy blast from Iron Man's repulsor rays. But now, it feels like the quality has been snapped away by Thanos himself. The coffee tastes watered down and lacks the smoothness and boldness it once had. Maybe it's the new ownership from years ago that's to blame? A fellow customer, who used to be a regular like me, mentioned the same decline a couple of years ago. Now, I only venture back when they offer massive discounts like BOGOs and 50% off, which seems to happen more frequently--perhaps a sign of declining business? Maybe Thor's father is really taking the Odin sleep seriously and can't wake up. Service: The service here is as unpredictable as Loki's tricks. The servers can be friendly and efficient like Captain America on a good day, but often they appear ambivalent, getting the job done without the cheerfulness of yesteryears. They seem busy and hard-working but lack the pep that made the experience enjoyable. Guess the pep in Pepper Potts is gone and Iron Man is left without his better half. It feels like they are missing the Hulk-sized energy and enthusiasm they once had. Overall Experience: The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in La Palma was once a superhero-sized fortress of excellent coffee. However, like an old Avenger past his prime, its quality has declined significantly. My wife gave up on it years ago, and after a string of poor-tasting coffee, I've decided to hang up my cape and not return unless something huge changes. The heroic days of this coffee chain seem to be in the past, and until it can wield its former glory again, I'll be seeking my caffeine fixes elsewhere. Maybe in a different star system with the Guardians of the Galaxy. I hear Groot makes a mean cup of coffee and Drax smashed the whole beans into a nice blend. So, heroes, choose your coffee battle wisely. Unless there's a significant change, this might not be the place to assemble your team for a bold, energizing brew. read more

This guy right here has a bad attitude. The only male employee there when I went in sat April 9th at 11:45am. I ask for a chocolate cake pop and he comes back and says there is only chocolate peanut butter left. So as we are waiting for our order my daughter sees a pink cake pop and I ask another lady what flavor was the pink cake pop and she said strawberry. Then i said why would the guy say there was ONLY chocolate peanut butter. The guy said with an attitude does she want it or not. I ask the guy for his name he would not give it to me. He just stood there with a look on his face like he couldn't hear me asking for his name. Everyone has a name tag but him. Really bad attitude! I've been dying to try coffee ever since seeing the viral tik tok drink. I got the iced hazelnut americano dry with half and half and the cream cap. The drink isn't that sweet compared to Starbucks drinks. I ordered two drinks back to back to make use of 2 different promotions. One drink was done a good 10 minutes earlier while I was waiting for the other drink. Not sure why when I ordered them less than 1 min apart. I noticed the workers chit chatting with each other while I was waiting for my drink to be finished which was a bit annoying. The drink is definitely pricier than Starbucks. It's about $7-$8 while only $5 at Starbucks. I did enjoy the drink but don't think I'll come back because of the price and service. read more

I placed an order with three drinks at 2:31 p.m. at the counter. I ordered three drinks, one of which was for my Mom who is diabetic and has a disability. After a short but considerable wait (since they had 3 workers and several orders and a full drive-thru) my name was called and the barista handed me two drinks and said "Thank you, have a nice day" and I replied "Oh, I think I have one more drink, I ordered three" and he said "it's coming" so I waited for another 15 minutes, sitting in the lobby while the other customers got their drinks and left and then I was alone in the lobby. I didn't hear my name again, so after getting tired of waiting I went back and the other drink was sitting on the pick up counter and I asked the same barista "Is this mine?" and he looked at me like he wasn't sure. I said I was still waiting for the last drink and the second barista told him yes. I said I didn't hear my name or anything so I didn't know it was there and the barista that originally told me it was "coming" repeated to the second guy "you didn't call his name" so I don't know what was going on but I'm very disappointed because my mom who has mobility issues was waiting in the car the entire time because it was raining and she is in a wheelchair and I didn't want to bring her out in the rain. I think it was very poor communication to have us wait and not tell me my drink was ready. I have never had a bad experience at any Coffee Bean and I hope the manager goes over communication because you never know who you are serving, even if you can't see the person some people are helping whose who have mobility issues or disabilities and they deserve the same type of service you would give anyone else. read more

No matter if you order ahead of time or not, this place takes forever to get your drink. The drive thru line is inefficient and everyone's orders for some reason takes a lot of time. The lot is small so you are limited on parking and how to even enter the lot. You have to circle around to get to drive thru. The drinks are either too sweet or too bland, I can't ever seem to get the order correctly to the right level because it is wildly inconsistent based on who makes it. One person who makes your order one day can make the drink completely different than another person on another day. They charge a ton for every modification... like $1 extra if you want them to blend your ice blended drink an extra few second. You are literally better off going to any other coffee place. read more

She is a regular customer, typically purchasing something on most days, about three or four times a week, while on a couple of occasions, she may just wait quietly without making a purchase. Recently, however, she was informed by staff Elizabeth that she is no longer allowed to remain in the store while waiting for me without making a valid purchase. There have been so many instances when I do a mobile pick up, they take longer than it's supposed to (15+ minutes) and there is NO communication to me about my order.
