I'd like to come back when they have their full menu again. We went yesterday and they only had drinks and soufflé pancakes. It really pretty inside. I like that! Not sure why there are placemats on the seats... it's confusing. I think I saw they are in the middle of a soft opening? I've heard their sandwiches are good. Again, I'd like to come back when they have more on their menu. The services yesterday was quite slow. It took about 30 min for one soufflé pancake. But our coffees were pretty speedy.

Well i went on 12/31/25 and they were open! It truly is so beautiful in here. My friend and i went and got the make your own souffle which comes with 2 fluffy pancakes. I wanted matcha but they were out which was a bit confusing since it was only like 12:30pm. I got custard instead with strawberries. My friend got the strawberry cream. Both were incredible!! They are not too sweet which is great. I would love to try their towel cakes. Service was polite and helpful. Plenty of seating. It's in the source so there's parking. I would def come back!

I met up with a friend here for a quick brunch. Parking wasn't an issue at all since it's located inside The Source OC mall. The interior had a nice, cozy German-inspired vibe and was beautifully decorated. However, when we asked for menus to order our brunch, they told us they only had two copies available. Since other customers were using them, we had to wait just to see the menu. Even though we could check the photos and menu on Yelp, having only two menus is definitely a con. (There are no menus on the wall either). After ordering, we had to wait nearly an hour for our food because the group right ahead of us had placed a massive order. The owner was sweet enough to apologize and give us complimentary macarons, which we appreciated, but the long wait time definitely needs improvement. Fortunately, the food was delicious enough to make up for the wait! The perfectly soft-boiled eggs and fresh salad made me want to come back. It was just a bummer because we only had an hour and a half for brunch, and an hour of it was spent waiting. Other than that, everything else was great.

    Really love the centerpiece!

Cute Cafe. Interior still the same as before. Tried 3 different Matcha drinks. Ube, regular, and Strawberry. I requested it to be not as sweet and they delivered! They also carry macarons AND that popular Dubai Choco Chewy dessert. It's these little domes....thats fluffy and chewy at the same time! Though i think they sell out b/c it's such a hot commodity right now.

Been wanting to try the soufflé pancake. It was more dense than I expected and very eggy, in a good way. I enjoyed the flavor. Wish there was more cream but I love sauces so that's just me. I enjoyed it! Would try another flavor if I ever went back.

Currently in a soft "re-opening" as of my visit on 10/4/25

I got an Iced Brown Sugar Latte w/ Oat milk. It was really good. Since it's in a soft re-opening it wasn't very busy during my Saturday afternoon visit. Lots of seating options, inside and outside. Customer service was excellent, was greeted upon entering and the 2 employees were friendly and quick.

We stopped by and had an iced vanilla latte and a hot latte -- both were really good! The decor inside is beautiful, calm, and perfect for relaxing or chatting. The cashier was very nice and attentive, which made the experience even better. It says "permanently closed" on Yelp, but it's open -- and definitely worth a visit!

This cutesy cafe spot is located on the first floor in the Source and it's not hard to miss with its interior and exterior being navy blue. It has that library type vibe decor and feels like a nice study spot because it's not too crowded nor loud. For breakfast, we ordered the fruit soufflé pancake and an avocado toast. I really enjoyed devouring the pancake because it was fluffy and the sweetness was not overpowering. This dish comes with strawberries, blueberries, and banana, so each bite of the pancake with whatever fruit creates a unique flavor. It may look basic at first, but the simplicity itself makes it grand. 5/5. As for the avocado toast, that was at most a 2/5. It was dry and the avocado looked old. The color was off too. Pretty sure anyone can make a better avocado toast for a way cheaper price. Service was nothing special, but the food came quick. If we do come back, I gotta try their teas. Maybe it. Better than Twisted teas.

soft re-opening now! Basilur Tea Coffee is such a lovely spot! The pancakes were absolutely delicious--fresh, fluffy, and perfectly made. You can really taste the quality and care in the food. A great place to relax and enjoy a wonderful treat. I'll definitely be back!

    Plain souffle with bananas.

Came in hoping to get some nice brunch to find out they only had 1 menu.. which was the souffle pancake. Even that they had limited selections. Supposedly they had change of ownership and is undergoing some changes? No sign, letting customer know of the situation. If I knew would have passed. It took them 30 min to to make and serve. 30 min! And we're the only customer. If it wasn't for my son, I would have just left. Oh and they gave us plastic fork and knife? What happened to balisur that served nice silverware and water?!?! This new management and or new ownership gone bad.

    At Basilur... still open

This place is STILL open. I don't know why Yelp has it as "permanently closed." The man is making our coffees right now and people are about to order.

    Afternoon tea tower
    Lily V.

Very cute and decorative place. I came with a friend on a Wednesday an evening, the friend actually came to this place a while ago and wanted to try it out again. We ordered the afternoon tea, you get to choose two different tea leaves (English breakfast black tea and some kind of ginger tea). And it comes with a tower of sandwiches and desserts. Roughly 80$ for two people. The staff gave us a number so we can sit down and wait, we got our teas first and cute cups with plates. Sugar and cream and stirrers are on the front near the register. We did have to wait a while for the tower of food to arrive. It was cute and adorable, looks better and mostly great for a photo than a meal but definitely an array of indulgent items. It came with 2 cucumber sandwiches, 2 egg salad sandwiches, 2 scones with jam and cream (cream was amazing), 2 macaroons, 2 mini muffins, a cup of fruit cream and a cup of chocolate cream. Everything was very decadent, it's a lot of sugar and carbs but also very enjoyable and fun! As a treat I'd definitely think it's nice once in a while, but it's also a good thing to take your time so best not as a quick snack. There was only one unisex Restroom inside the cafe near the back. There are plenty of seating area and tables so howling it isn't an issue with overcrowding on weekends.

Such aesthetic products...but that slice of cheesecake is quite smaller than it looks.
    Maria E.

If you're looking for an aesthetic experience, this is a place I'd recommend to check out. As soon as you walk in you're hit with an artsy vibe--I was reminded a bit of Harry Potter/Wizarding World--but not exactly so it's open to your own interpretation. The Huz wanted a whole Ube Cheesecake (even before trying it because he had faith it was gonna be good--it's also close to $30 at the time of our visit) but we were told that it wasn't available. I don't know if we were feeling moody this day, but it rubbed us the wrong way that it was on the menu but not available. What was available was a slice ($7.00 at the time of our visit), so with a little confusion (like, if you have slices, why don't you have a whole one?) we got one to try. When we received the slice, we were taken aback at how small it was. I think we were expecting a size closer to the ones offered at the famous cheesecake franchise. The cheesecake was good, creamy and all that. We also got an Ube Latte and Strawberry Matcha Latte--both beautifully presented. The taste, pretty good. Overall, we had a good experience. Just not necessarily a repeatable experience for us.

Sorry, Afternoon tea set not available now. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, you order at a counter.

Are they still offering tea sets with the scones and sandwiches?

No unfortunately the tea sets are no longer available.

    Can we do reservations?

They are nodoffere t than any other coffee shops. It is first come first sit~ You need to go and find a seat and order from the window and then they bring the order to you.

Are they still doing tea sandwiches?

No they aren't doing the tea sandwiches anymore :(

    Yes, pet friendly outdoor dining

Do their milk teas contain non dairy creamer or actual milk?

It's contains actual milk the milk teas are pre-made

Do they have any dairy alternatives yet?

There is oat, almond and soy milk but it's gonna be a dollar charge

Saw some people studying and sitting for as long as they want talking, so I think so

What is the flower pot? Are all the contents edible?

It's like a chocolate trifle and yes, all layers were edible. I did not eat the flower on top when I've ordered this, but I think they do use an edible flower too!

When and what time is your non-peak hours?

The last time I went there was around 4pm on a Friday, there were my table and the other two tables of 2. So I believe their non-peak hours can be after the lunch and before the dinner rush. So around 4-6pm!

Is the kakigori no longer offered?

Unfortunately they no longer offer Kakigori (Buena Park Basilur).

Not too sure about the gluten-free option. Most, if not all, the ingredients contain dairy products. My friend recently asked for dairy-free milk tea (a la, soy, hemp, or almond milk), and that was not available. However, there's a lot of tea…

How does the tea set works? If I have 3 people and we ordered 2sets, is it 3people*the price or is it 2sets*the price? Also, is there a time restrictions?

You place your order first, then they will bring it to your table . With a tea set, You will get a cup and a pot of tea, plus the food. If you want to share the food with other people at your table will be up to you. If you guys are getting 2 tea…

What I ordered: Coco Pandan Mousse DESSERT: 8/10 I loved how light my mousse was. Most importantly, it actually tasted like pandan! I was worried the pandan flavor was going to be mid and subtle, but each bite had a great pandan flavor. I had a bit of a drive back to my hotel, so I was advised to order mine frozen. I'm glad I took the staff member's advice because by the time I got to my hotel and finished dinner, it had thawed out perfectly. It was still cold-ish, room temp in the best way possible. SERVICE: 9/10 Great customer service! Upon arrival, the staff member who helped me was very nice. I was indecisive about what to order, so I really appreciated that she gave me a rundown and some suggestions on their most popular dishes. Most importantly, I appreciated her concern about my dessert melting by the time I got back to my hotel. If it wasn't for her and her advice to order the dessert frozen, I wouldn't have known and probably would've ended up with a deconstructed dessert. The way she packaged my dessert was also very helpful and considerate. AMBIANCE: 9/10 Definitely a cute place, and I can see this being a great go-to spot for groups. I loved how the back seating area had so many Polaroids plastered all over the walls. There are different types of seating depending on what you're in the mood for, and each seating area has a different vibe. There's also plenty of outdoor seating if you want to enjoy the weather while having your dessert!

Once we arrived, there was plenty of chairs and seating and the place looked pretty cool. They also had a pretty extensive menu which consisted of coffee, tea, lattes, Korean drinks, smoothies, sparkling aids and of course, ice cream. I don't like ice cream but I was actually pretty excited for her to try it. Cool name, cool spot, I'm willing to bet something on it, it's about to be fire! After waiting a while I noticed she was still at the front, I wasn't sure if she was looking at the menu or what. So I go to the front and no one is in sight, I see the bell and I ring it and a young girl comes to help. Make sure you ring the bell smh. Finally after the long wait, and a small line formed behind us, she finally gets her ice cream on a cone. I see her walking towards me happy and then she takes a bite and everything goes out the window. She hated everything about the ice cream. It wasn't what she thought, she didn't like the texture, the flavor or anything about it. She had me taste it and she was right, it tasted like ice without the cream and kind of bland. It is exactly what it is marketed as, low fat, low calorie, low sugar, and low carbs so I have no clue what she thought she was getting. It clearly said, plant based lol. I told her and she said she at least wanted it to taste creamy and she was right, it was far from creamy but Don Melt didn't do anything wrong lol. Anyway, she didn't want to be mean so she held on to it until we got a few stores down and tossed it. Then we went on a hunt to find her ice cream smh. Now, from my experience, it wasn't bad and I understand what they are doing. It's a healthy ice cream that isn't creamy and it's not something I would eat but I get the concept. It's for healthy eaters wanting to fill a craving, which isn't for everyone and I think she was being a little emotional about wanting her ice cream. I personally wouldn't go back for the ice cream but I'd be willing to try something else off of their menu. I can see why this is pretty popular among healthy eaters. OOO 3 out of 5 Afros

**3 stars -- Helpful info before you go**…read more I was really looking forward to trying this matcha ice cream café, especially since I've been searching for a good matcha-and-ube ice cream experience. The ice cream itself was enjoyable, but a few things about the visit may be helpful for other Yelpers to know in advance. They don't offer samples of the available ice cream flavors, which was surprising since many other ice cream shops do. Also, the flavors listed on Yelp and social media did not seem to reflect what was currently available in-store, so I'd recommend checking directly with the café before visiting if you have a specific flavor in mind. We ordered a Level 1 matcha and a mango waffle cone. The flavor options for mixing also appear to depend on what they have already prepared and available that day. There were no pastries available during our visit either. Service was a bit underwhelming, but hopefully the café can improve communication around current flavors, samples, and daily offerings. I'll continue my search for that ideal matcha-ube ice cream combination, but this could still be worth a stop if you're flexible and simply craving matcha ice cream.

I'm really glad we have a popular Filipino spot like Cafe 86 serving amazing drinks and desserts…read more I've been here multiple times and honestly I keep coming back for the same things Their Upside Down Halo Halo and Ube Monster Shake with Oreos are DIVINE. The Ube Monster is consistently my go to and they seriously know how to do ube right, not just with their drinks but their pastries and desserts too. Personally I think Cafe 86 has one of the best halo halo around. Even compared to a lot of Filipino restaurants and dessert places I've tried, this one stands out. I'd even take their halo halo over Chowking or Red Ribbon. Cafe 86 is basically what I think a modern Filipino halo halo and ube dessert spot should be. Not to mention always friendly staff and super comfy seating. Nice place to chill and catch up for desserts tho a lil small. They've mastered ube here and I love that they're bringing Filipino flavors into more modern drinks and desserts without losing what makes them good in the first place. I go back all the time and will continue to!!

Another after dinner dessert outing and we come he for their Halo Halo. It's not traditional but I…read morelike it here since I can't have the traditional halo halo with all the beans. It was nice to learn that they offer both kinds of halo halo in the smaller size. The only new surprise is now they charge extra to change the vanilla ice cream to the Ube ice cream. So this time we went with the original which comes with the Ube ice cream. It was nice they still let us eat in, but as soon as it hit 9:00pm, they went out from the back and told us they were closed and sort of pushed us out as fast as they were able to.
