Shift supervisor "Steph" was extremely rude. My order was messed up I asked for a 16oz cold brew, they gave me a small (clearly don't know their sizes). They pulled me out of my chair to pay a 50cent difference which was very upsetting. I have worked at a coffee shop for many years, and I know that when we make a mistake, our priority is to make sure the customer leaves happy. On the occasion I get coffee out I usually drive through the Coffee Bean at the Riverside Plaza. I usually don't YELP my drive thru experiences but this was exceptional so I am. I am the type of customer that gets intimidated at the order station at STARBUCKS as people ahead of me use an un-decoded language to order their very specific cup of coffee. I, on the other hand, just want a hot, sweet cup of Joe. The young lady (this was last Thursday morning at around 9:30, sorry I cant remember names, even though I asked) has a calming voice and perfect drive thru demeanor. Pacient and helpful with suggestions for the description I presented and as with the other few times I leave feeling accomplished and love the selection I receive. I can only imagine the inside counter service is just as helpful an welcoming but the drive thru service will keep me coming back on the occasions that I order coffee out! read more

There's no reason why I should have been waiting close to 20 mins for two teas. I was patient enough to wait, hence the mins, but it reached a point that their excuse was not good enough. They apparently placed my teas on the wrong side of the counter. I sincerely believe the person who helped me discriminate against me for reasons I will not post on this review. Corporate should look into this kind of behavior. I don't expect a 5-star service, but I also dont expect a 1 star treatment. They handle my experience very poorly. read more

Coffee, yea I​ drink a lot​. For the record, when I was a bebe my grandma spiked my baby-bottle​ with expresso (she's Cuban). Anyways, COFFEE BEAN is my safe place. THE BEST expresso is made @ Coffee Bean. Their double (and triple) expresso is PERFECT (bitter/not sour, velvety/not watery, top layer remains put for AT LEAST 3-4 minutes). I've been​ lucky to live​ near a Coffee Bean for a while​ (now in Riverside and before on Hillhurst in Los Feliz​) b/c dude i LOVE these peoples coffee-makin' ways. The staff is friendly and way helpful, the coffee is GOOD and location in Riverside has a ​drive-thru! Please be careful going here. My sister-in-law went there and ordered an iced passion tea and when she got home she noticed it had a strong chemical taste. She contacted the tea house and asked to speak to a manager. They said they were too busy to transfer her and to call back. She informed them that she would call the health department and they said ok thank you. So she did call and they did a health imspection and informed her that they found a dirty ice machine with fuzz and dirt...sounds like mold...be careful. read more

I am just going to say real fast I love coffee bean, I been to this location a dozen times. But today, Oct 8 was the worst service ever. It took them 8 minutes to take my order and there wasn't even a long line. I didn't get upset, I just waited patiently. I did my work online until closing. And 10 minutes before (so at 8:50pm) the lady behind the counter yelled so loud in the place that they were closing and at 8:52 she turned off the lights. That is so RUDE! In the past they usually come up individually to tell us they are closing soon and dim the lights, key word is DIM! I called her out for her behavior bc I have worked in customer service for years I know this is unheard of. I sadly didn't get her name but the next time I won't be shy to complain to high ups. I noticed she might have been training a new hire, which surprised me given her poor customer behavior and work ethic. Really hope this doesn't happen again in the near future or I will just have to take my business somewhere else. Also, if this business closes at 9pm, you really should change the times online bc it still says 10pm closing. That's not efficient at all. read more

I have lived in Riverside for over 20 years I usually go to Starbucks because in my area that's all there is. I currently travel for work and I love a strong iced coffee so when I'm out and about, I will try different coffee houses that are near me. Today at 4:07 pm I needed a drive thru so I pulled into Coffee bean. I haven't been in years so I was unfamiliar with the menu. The line was long but moved too quickly for me to make a decision. (Good job on that) when I pulled up I asked if they had anything sugar free which sadly the do not so I asked if they had a cold brew she which I missed on the menu so I ordered that with almond milk and I ordered a double chocolate blended drink. The drive thru person if I wanted the double mocha hot or iced and with reserve. I proceeded to ask, because I was not aware what that meant then I asked her if my cold brew came over ice one she laughed yah it's cold brew. At Starbucks the cold brew is cold, but it is not over ice unless you requested. When I got to the drive-through and actually saw the person taking my order, I proceeded to explain to her that I didn't realize that their menu was different and I had to ask for over ice and that you know I'm usually used to ordering at Starbucks. She gave me this blank expression like I was speaking of foreign language. I mentioned that I heard them laughing because I didn't know how to order and she still looked at me with a very sarcastic expression like I said, this is the first time I've been been in awhile the coffee was amazing but I feel uncomfortable to come back after was treated today. First she wouldn't take our order without us wearing a mask fine my husband went out and got a mask from the car even though the mask mandate is no longer. But whatever. She was so rude about it just kept repeating herself saying we won't serve you without a mask. A older gentleman came in and just wanted a coffee she flat out refused to even listen to him was talking over him just being very rude. This is the worst location I've been to yet. I love Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, but, I'd rather skip on this location than waste my moolah on a bad drink. The staff is polite and all, but, the order takes too long to complete. The drinks I've ordered have been consistently dissatisfying. They taste really watered down, or completely tasteless, and often the drinks appeared to not have been mixed. There have been a few times now that I could see the syrup separated from the liquid above. I hope they make some improvements on their coffee. :-( read more

My husband recently discovered this Coffee Bean and we LOVE IT! The baristas are so friendly and the drinks are consistently good, which is a major problem we experienced at another chain. My husband drinks straight, black coffee. After his first experience with CBTL's roasts, he turned to me and said, "You know, I never realized how bitter ***** was. This coffee is SMOOTH!" Being a connoisseur, I have always appreciated the expert roasts of this company. I know that people somewhat "marry" their favorite Coffeehouse, but I strongly recommend that you break away and try coffee bean coffee and teas. I especially recommend this location for its ease of parking and drive-thru. As I said, the staff is great, but they always are at the coffee bean. First timer at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, my husband and I ordered a pumpkin spice latte and a shake. Unfortunately, we order the wrong pumpkin spice latte according to the drive-thru window lady I was supposed to say regular caffeine pumpkin spice latte and not the chai tea one. Which it's a little confusing wasn't aware that pumpkin spice latte had chai tea not a fan of chai tea lol. Anywho, the young lady was extremely nice she explained everything to my husband and I since we were newbies. She also remade my coffee to my liking and let me say it was delicious . Today I had a rude encounter with an older black woman. She was not listening to my drink and when I got to the window she continued with her attitude. When I wanted to ask her a question she quickly dismissed me and said "thank you, thank you." I hope she does not treat other people this way. I ended up having to throw away an almost 8 dollar drink because it wasn't right. I know this is just her because the rest of the employees are always super friendly.
