I was standing behind some law enforcement personnel today and couldn't help but notice how rude the cashier/barista was towards them, especially after she messed up their order. After the last drink was given to the deputies, this female Coffee Bean employee crossed her arms and asked if there was anything else she could do for them, but in a very snarky way, with lots of attitude. It was extremely undeserving, as these deputies did nothing to warrant her attitude. With the loss of the 2 recent Riverside Sheriff's, you would think an establishment that deals with cops all the time would be a little nicer. Love Their No Fat / No Sugar Chocolate Powder SITREP I used to stay away from Mochas because of the high fat and high sugar count that exists, especially in coffee shop bought mochas at any coffee establishment. But I have found a way around that. I buy the No Fat / No Sugar Chocolate Powder from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL). THE SETUP Instead of buying a mocha at Peet's or Starbucks or any countless Indie Coffee shops that I patronize here in Sacramento, I buy their regular coffee. Then at work (when I arrive during the week days) or at home (on the weekends), I put a couple tablespoons of this wonderful Chocolate mix into my just acquired coffee - along with 2-3 packets of Splenda, and mix. Wa-La! I have a no-fat / no-sugar Mocha and I couldn't be happier! RIVERSIDE On this occasion, I was working in Riverside, CA and was delighted to find out that there was actually a CBTL near the bottom of the California Towers building at 3737 Main and just a few store fronts away from our lobby. Usually while I am in Sacramento, this means a road trip (in conjunction with some other activity) to San Francisco - the location of the two closest CBTLs to Sacramento. Kim and Kai have great customer service. They offered us a sample and made our drinks to perfection.

Basically I went in just because I had to use the bathroom it's not even their bathroom it's a public bathroom within a building that all the businesses share! I was made to buy something! Seriously! I had to but something; first of all your coffee is awful, the food is just crud shipped in so at best it taste like grocery store bakery and the customer service is always always rotten. I have been there on numerous occasions prior and came to the decision I don't care for their service or food or coffee. Their tea is over priced. So this just topped it off!!! read more

I've supported them through the pandemic. Apparently you are no longer a costumer after 24 hours. So disappointing and the manager was rude. Coffee - I always drink my coffee black in order to fully appreciate the aroma, flavor, and subtle tones. Also, I do this to compare it with others. The coffee tasted a little water down/diluted. Service was slower than expected considering only one person ahead of us, but the barista seemed new. She wasn't very friendly and needed help with each order she took from another barista. They offer ordering ahead and I highly recommend it. The place isn't very large and was pretty clean. They have restrooms for customer use located down a long hallway shared with another business. My mom ordered the cold brew ice blended with no whip and added extra caramel drizzle. They forgot her drizzle, no biggie. I ordered the cookie butter ice blended and it was very bland. Little to no taste and no cookie crumbs on top like in their ad photo. Overall I feel like the drink and the lack of friendly service weren't worth the money spent. read more

I have been coming to this CBTL for almost 15 years. Over the past year the service has really gone down. I have tried to give them additional chances to prove me wrong because they've had new employees and also because of Covid-19 so I figured to give them some slack and allow them to get their staff back to what it used to be. It just keeps getting worse and worse. Today, they had three customers in the shop including myself, the guy that ordered after me, got his coffee and his latte before me. I finally got my small hazelnut latte but had to remind them about my bagel which the two ladies who were talking about some guy the entire time they had customers, forgot about. The guy that was next to me who placed an online order through the app was a looking annoyed too. The two young girls were taking long to provide the service, they talked about some guy one of them was dating possibly the entire time. When I reminded them about my bagel one of them said "oh shit" she forgot. Being that many of the customers here are on breaks from local offices, I can see how they're loosing customers because the customer service has significantly taken a plunge at this location. read more

We have so few CBTLs left in the Inland Empire. So I can only get my fix when I am in this area, or Redlands, or in Temecula. So far to drive, so inconvenient, I mostly make coffee at home these days, using their beans, or some we've found from other roasteries in our travels. We still love the mochas, iced or hot depending on the weather. And I have no problem with asking for sugar free, since it is always so good. Hey Lissy B, if the hot drinks are too sweet, try asking them to cut back on their ingredients. That is what we do. I totally agree with you. This is a very nice location in beautiful, Renovated Riverside, frequented by the young and beautiful, the hip, and those hard working professionals. Really slow on mobile orders. My Mobile order said It will be ready at 8:44 am and it's 8:48 am still not ready. They barely started making my order. The brown girl with the curly hair asked if I wanted breakfast sandwich warm and I said yes. I ate my sandwich shortly after and the middle was still cold. When I received my drink it had no whip cream and I told them I asked for whipped cream and the brown girl with curly hair knowledge it was her fault and she didn't even apologize just told her coworker with the red hair it was her fault. While I adore and am simply in love with the ultimate mocha from CBTL, this one was the only time I did not love my coffee. Maybe its my fault for being "adventurous" and for the first time ever NOT getting the ultimate mocha. They have 2 birthday specials going on right now, birthday cake and rocky road ice blended coffee. Both were screaming my name, so I got my son the birthday cake one (sans coffee) and for myself the rocky road, make it ultimate (add chocolate covered coffee beans aka crack) Service was excellent, the location really nice. I had no idea Riverside has a nice Mainstreet and this is located right on it. Back to the coffee, the birthday cake, well tasted like a birthday cake shake, fun to try a sip, but that's about it. Even my son didn't finish it. The Rocky Road...meh lacking, just tasked powdery. Now to the biggest let down, the ultimate chocolate covered beans were so finely ground you saw them but didn't taste them. The whole point is the chunks that's get stuck in your straw and you can chew. My husband had said ultimate mocha and while the taste was better than my Rocky Road, the bean snafu the same issue. Had we not been treated by the in laws, I would have brought it back and gotten another, but being as I didn't have to pay I was fine with it. They had blood orange sweet teas, no comment on if they liked them or not. They sucked them down pretty quick so that's a good sign. CBTL is one of the examples of why I love Yelp's "Update your review" feature! Since my wife's return to work this past March after some necessary medical leave, I've been spending more time at this particular location and have had more chances to interact with their employees and sample their offerings. One thing I've recently discovered that I absolutely LOVE is CBTL's selection of teas simply blows Starbucks away. They offer everything from simple to exotic, from light and sweet and fruity to full bodied. Teas from all over the world are offered here; and I've been sampling away...both in hot form and, as the weather warms up, iced. Though right now, Swedish Berries is still one of my faves. I've gotten to know some of the more regular employees there - and they've gotten to know me and my wife by name as well. Always nice to see friendly folks at places you like to patronize. As stated before - their WiFi is free, and is a decent speed. There are usually a few people here with laptops studying or working. And wandering around the shop, I noticed there are power outlets near almost every seating area - including the booth seats! Very very laptop friendly! Also I'd say that there selection of foods to enjoy with your drinks are delicious. Its one of the only places outside of the Solvang area I've ever been able to find a French Waffle! Woohoo! I'd say my further explorations and patronage of this CBTL has earned it a 5th star. read more

There's a young maybe mid twenties short guy working behind the bar like if he hates to work here. Had a terrible attitude and felt like he sucked the life out of this place. The other girl was very nice and seemed like she was trying to make up for him but he seemed irritated and was definitely taking it out on his job and the customers. Don't recommend coming here, not even excited for my coffee anymore. Major love (: Great coffee shop feel!!! You can compare it to Starbucks 10 years back, before they turned to corporate giant competing with McDonalds.
