Service was good, ample inside seating and I am sure they have wifi due to seeing a bunch of people on their laptops. However, the coffee was not good at all. Very strong with a burnt taste to it. This is a cute little coffee shop to hang out and have a nice time. On the night that we went, there was a band playing. It's not a large shop so it felt really intimate. There were communal bench tables for sharing as well as regular tables. Ambience could be good but we felt a bit out of place on this particular night as the majority of the patrons were the in the over 60 crowd. I ordered a chai latte but it wasn't the best. Maybe too syrupy? I'm not sure. It lacked the chai spices in a really good chai latte. I would go back again though because I think it has potential. read more

Easily the worst two coffees we had all year. The regular milk latte was burnt (even more than your standard Starbucks) and the milk was over steamed which made it even worse. The oat milk latte had the same burnt coffee taste but watered down like drip coffee as if the shot was pulled too long. The milk was maybe half steamed, adding to the watery taste. Both coffees left a horrible after taste and got worse as you drank. They ended up in the trash before they were finished. Given the high price and the supposedly high reviews this was an extremely disappointing visit and we won't be returning. read more

Get: Avocado Toast - Avocado and Bacon on bread, whats not to like? Trying to get some work done on a Sunday, I came out to Edison to get some coffee from The Coffee House. When you walk in, the decor is a bit dated but it has a slight funky vibe as they have framed posters of rock musicians from the 60s, 70s and 80s and a Juke Box when you enter. The music they play also goes along with the theme, right now Jesse's Girl is playing and before that "Africa" was on. There is a comfy feel to the cafe. I like the huge chalk board they have with all their drink and food options. They also have dairy alternatives which is a plus, but they charge 60 cents for the upgrade (Soy, Almond, and Oat). I got a Lavender Latte, which I love when it is done right. A little too much lavender syrup was used though so it overpowered the drink a bit. I still enjoyed it but it wasn't a must have. I was also bummed that it came in a paper cup, even though it was for dine in. No latter art :( Food wise, I got their avocado toast with bacon on Texas Toast (love thick toast) ! This was great. Nothing to complain about, I liked the use of olive oil, poppy seeds, and sea salt. I think everything bagel seasoning was used too which I really like! I didn't see any red pepper flakes though as it said on the menu, maybe they ran out? Seating wise, it's decent amount of seating with tables and chairs outside as well. There's outlets all around the room for laptop charging. I love that they serve the coffee and food directly to the table so that you don't have to stand waiting for everything to come out. All in all decent cafe with great avocado toast. The decor was a bit dated and cluttered for my taste but I think I'd come back if I was in the area. read more

Well-placed menu written on large chalkboard. FOOD: Well-seasoned avocado toast topped with perfectly hard-boiled eggs (add-on) and cold brew with soy milk and a splash of cream. Wide variety of sweeteners. Came to $13 and change. ***Perfect for studying, low-key meetings, or just grabbing breakfast/brunch/lunch with a friend or dolo. ***Took one star away for how cold brew was prepared - diluted with water and a lot of ice added. The wife and I went for brunch. Coffee drinks were perfect. We each got a dirty iced chai. Good balance of chai spices and coffee. My wife started the peanut butter and jelly muffin that was ok, not enough peanut butter for sure. Her main was the 2 egg platter with multigrain toast and tots. It was average. Nothing spectacular. The avocado toast was good. I really liked the toppings. The waffle was good as well. I'm giving it 3 stars cause it was just ok. Not bad, not good. Cozy coffee shop that looks like someone's living room. Had a hazelnut latte, which was okay. I felt like the syrup was a little off and didn't have as much of a hazelnut flavor as it should have. My friend and I both got kicked off their WiFi after around 4 hours and that's when we left. We went on a Saturday and the coffee shop was about 75% full at all times. Not hard to find an outlet. Awesome place, great coffee. Cozy feel as you walk in. A lot of seating, and power outlets all over. It's right on the main street in town. The staff is nice and accommodating. I would def suggest this place to chill, read do some work or just have a good cup of joe. I ADORE this place! When I first came in, I immediately felt the homey vibes but then I noticed all the 60s and 70s decor. The touches are so subtle but modern. I came here to do interview preparation and it was the perfect place. There were outlets everywhere, seating was abundant, and while I could hear people talking around me, it wasn't distracting. I ordered the rose matcha latte and it was pretty good! It had a little too much matcha powder in it- it wasn't as smooth as I would have liked, and I didn't taste any "rose" in it. It was basically a standard matcha latte. I also ordered a BLT on multigrain and it was very good. It was a little pricy in relation to the portion size but I can't complain because it was so flavorful! This place is a gem. The people that work there are awesome and it's decorated tastefully. This may be my new go-to coffee shop! read more

Java java time! This place is intermixed with other area businesses in a residential-ish neighborhood. It has that vibe of a local coffee shop, where they know your order as you walk in. Parking is available on site and there's decent street parking in case the lot fills up. I found the shop pretty easily as well as street parking without any trouble. It is located on a fairly busy road, but not too much foot traffic. Inside there are couches interspersed with higher cocktail tables (which have seating.) towards the back is where the ordering counter is, along with their baked goods. There is also outside seating available - which is where we chose to enjoy our drinks. When we arrived, they were undergoing renovations, and we were informed that it was recently under new management. This resulted in a new menu - which had your standard drinks (coffee, tea, latte, and chais), but looked stripped of any specialty creations. I think more to come with the menu. The employees were nice and handled our questions and orders with ease. They also went through the trouble of going through their available flavorings which I thought was nice since it wasn't technically on their menu. After a few minutes we settled on a ice latte and an iced coffee (only cold brew available.) I was drinking the cold brew, and I liked the body of the coffee - not too bitter or heavy feeling. The prices seemed fair for a boutique coffee shop. Great place for locals or out of towners alike! Looking forward to returning once the renovations are complete! read more

I just want to say, eleven reward cards in how quickly time flies! Yet, the quality of this lovely establishment is still solid. Mi casa es su casa, but respect the establishment! I brought my Japanese friends here. Some canyon oatmeal, tiramisu, chocolate mousse, espresso creme brulee, tea, and a few coffees in, they are now hooked. The great impression The Coffee House team has left for them is yet another testament to how wonderful this place is. They will be returning from time to time until their flight back to Japan. First time here. I'm used to great Jersey bagels but have not been in this area before. I came in for a bagel and drink. The service was good and person at the counter was pleasant. The bagel looked great but I was completely disappointed when I bit into it. It definitely wasn't made today. It was hard to bite into it. I should have found a bagel shop that makes their own fresh. Customer service, drinks, food, all amazing! Gluten free flourless chocolate cake, smoked croissant, mocha, bulletproof latte - I had my four-year-old with me and we got her a peppermint tea and they brought it out the perfect temperature for her. The only negative , which I debated knocking one or two off for, was the disgusting uncleaned ceiling vents. (I get it, they are difficult to clean, but that's just gross.) Clean those on the regular and it's a solid five out of five! read more

The main reason I'm giving this place 3 stars, is because of the person at the counter taking the orders and making the beverages, who had an attitude and was not interested in being friendly at all. I came here on a Saturday morning and it seemed like it would be a good place to study. When I arrived, it was almost silent, as there was another customer working and another couple playing chess. This, however, did not last long. I ordered an almond milk latte. It was just okay--but it was nice and hot. The owner was talking to his patrons--which I liked, he seemed very friendly. I didn't mind this so I just put in my earphones. But then later on, he sat right in front of me at the large table and started playing and watching a video on his phone. I understand that it is his restaurant, but part of me felt like he was treating it like his living room. If a customer is sitting there studying, it seems a bit inconsiderate to start watching a video loudly directly in front of them. Also, it is SO COLD. Came back to give it another shot. Still the same kind service, nice seating, lots of outlets etc. etc., but the coffee was still absolutely rancid. My boyfriend got iced coffee with caramel and oat milk. The milk was curdled (according to google, this COULD be because the coffee is too acidic?) and tasted really rancid. I got an oat milk latte, which didn't taste as horrible, but just pretty mid, but I couldn't bring myself to finish it after seeing the milk in the iced coffee. They also have the tips going from highest to lowest on the screen left to right, which I guess is a tactic to get you to click the highest tip (since lowest is usually on the left). I met some co-workers here for a quick meeting on a Thursday morning. As a coffee snob, I must say the coffee was excellent. My other co-workers each ordered a cappuccino and raved about it. After much deliberation, I also devoured a large, very fresh, and tasty banana nut muffin. It was delicious. They had such a great selection of muffins, scones, and other breakfast items. I loved the jukebox and the 80's music they were playing on the big screen. Lots of photos and nostalgia hanging on the walls. The prices were very reasonable and there was parking in their lot or on the main street. To bad I don't live closer because this coffee and muffin was top notch. read more

Was looking for a solid coffee shop with outdoor seating to relax and catch up on work - and definitely found what I was looking for! I was a little worried at first as the girls behind the counter were fairly young and looked a little stressed on a busy Saturday morning, but they took my order professionally and let me sit outside to wait. The ham and cheese sandwich I ordered was simple but DELICIOUS~~~ I basically inhaled it. Hazelnut cappuccino was not bad as well. Special shoutout to the girl who told me they didn't have honey mustard, but came out a few minutes later saying she made it for me :') - although the sandwich was so good I could've gone without!!! Well I used to like this place, until today. I go to this spot pretty often. I'm a grad student so coffee shops are ideal for me to get my work done (and to keep up my caffeine addiction). On occasions I have even invited my friends and husband to come along with me. Today, I decided to stop by The Coffee House because I had to make a quick business call. About 40 minutes into my visit a man (I assume is the owner) comes up to me and says "Can I help you". I was caught off guard and responded "Excuse me". The man proceeded to ask me if I was going to purchase something and stated "I mean this is a business not a library" and quickly walked away. I was very taken aback. I went up to the counter to purchase a coffee and to speak with the man. I informed him that I am a regular customer and I was offended by his comment. His response was that he didn't mean to be rude and that it's hard for the business if he doesn't have many tables and people are sitting there for hours not purchasing anything (I was there for less than an hour, just FYI). I appreciated his explanation, but the moment he made that rude/unprofessional comment I knew I wouldn't be returning here. I will happily take my money and the friends that I referred else where. After this experience, I would recommend you do too. read more

The croissant was warm and flaky and the chai was flavorful. They do have some parking in the rear of the building as well as street parking. read more

This is a very cute, cozy, and quaint coffee shop! The shop is very cozy with plenty of space to study at desks/tables, or relax on couches by the fireplace. They have a good variety of coffee and tea, and they have plenty of food available on the menu (sandwiches, pastries, oatmeal, gelato, etc.). Their service is also excellent. What I found unique and favorable was how you order your drink/food at the counter, and you do not pay until before you leave. Moreover, the baristas serve you your drink/food to you at your table or couch--which is extremely convenient! They also have a variety of board games available, and plenty of outdoor seating. My only complaint is how the parking situation is awful: the parking lot has very limited parking, and one may most likely need to find street parking. I visited this coffee house with the intention of chatting with a friend for a little bit, and then getting some [academic] work done. The environment is conducive to both socializing and getting work done since the chairs are comfortable, and the tables are large enough to have a drink, laptop, and notebooks/papers all out at the same time. My friend ordered the "White Mocha Latte" and I ordered the "Chai Latte". The "Chai Latte" was sweet and had more foam than what I'm used to, but it was still delicious nevertheless. If you are a coffee aficionado and/or care about the grade of coffee, it should be commented that the coffee they use here is commercial grade---particularly "illy coffee". It may be disappointing to some people, but it personally does not phase me. The shop's environment and the whole "getting served your coffee/food at your seat by a barista " reminds me of the coffee shop "Central Perk" in the show, "Friends" (of course, without Rachel making tons of errors as a server). I definitely recommend this place to anyone craving a cup of coffee, and to anyone who is looking for a comfortable place to study/do work, or hang out with friends. Next time I am in New Jersey (to visit my family and friends), I plan to come to this location again. read more
