A+ place for a quick breakfast. I had pappa's breakfast burrito with a whole slew of stuff in it. Eggs, potatoes, bacon, salsa, sausage maybe? It was very very good. Eggs were cooked well and that flavor was great. Thick cut bacon FTW (for the win). Also had a small cookies and cream monsoon (frozen drink) and it was good as well. Service was quick and polite with the food coming out quickly. Atmosphere wasn't anything amazing but it was clean and not too loud. The small is a bit small and can probably get crowded if there at peak time. My only complaint.. the place is clean.. however, there were flies, 3 or 4, all over us while we ate. I went with the basic drip coffee tonight. It defiantly did not disappoint. I normally go with the iced green tea. You can't go wrong there either. Pastries are awesome too. I've been looking for a decent coffee shop around Mesa to do some studying and unfortunely still have not found it in The Coffee Shop. The store is trendy and spacious but came off as more of a sit down and eat cafe rather than a study place. First off there are no outlets in the main dining room so you have to go to a fairly dark room in the back to find outlets. Instead of tables though, it's filled with sofas so it's even harder to stay awake. The wifi is fairly choppy too so it kicks you off every so often, with a big suggestion that they don't recommend you staying on for more than 2 hours. But if you're not looking for a place to study, the coffee shop is good for chit chat and food. There is plenty of room to sit, talk and catch up with friends. There is also a nice patio outside. I ordered a vanilla cupcake after hearing that they were on cupcake wars back in 2010. The frosting was sweet and creamy. My only complaint was that the interior seemed a bit dry. It's a fairly big cupcake for $3 though, perfect for sharing. I would return again to try out all the delicious items I saw on the menu and just catch up with friends on the nice patio outside. However studying for a long period of time is probably not a good idea here. read more

First time here and the coffee taste good. I ordered a cuff cake americano and it was strong... just the way I like it :) Friend ordered a turtle coffee monsoon and it was super tasty. Very caramely and chocolatey but not overkill. I do not like things too sweet but this was perfect. I read someone's review where they said breakfast was until 3. Whenever my wife have come to Pheonix we go to this coffee shop. It never disappoints either. Its an amazing coffee shop with indoor and outdoor area. During COVID they do require you wear masks when you enter, but once seated you can take it off. The staff is very nice and the food is great! The sandwiches are really good sizes. I gave up coffee about 2 years ago.. most of the coffees I drink now a days make me jittery because its too strong. The Coffee Shop has such good coffee, kind of like a mix between tea+coffee! I atmosphere is really nice and open. We ordered their American Breakfast and chorizo burrito. American Breakfast- eggs were cooked to perfection and the wheat bread was so good, not dry like most kinds. Chorizo burrito- overall really good but too much potato. Great spot for brunch they have the best coffee cakes if you are in area you should try the blueberry white chocolate coffee cake (It was so good I forgot to take a picture). I had the Rosa sandwich this sandwich was very tasty, the tomato and mozzarella with the pesto spread complemented each other. My daughter had the strawberry waffle and the strawberries were very fresh and the waffle had great flavors. I would definitely come back on our next AZ trip. read more

This was the worst customer service experience I have had anywhere. This was also the first time I've been here during lunch hours. I waited 15 minutes for 2 iced teas and while waiting at the drink pickup I saw my mom and I's food. I told the girl at the window the food was mine and could help carry it. She turned back around to face the cook. I went outside and left my iced teas on the table with my mom and came back in. When I walked back up towards the drink pick-up, the girl bringing orders out was asking the cook if she should just "go grab the sand which back since the person didn't touch it" because she brought it there by mistake. I then asked where my sandwich was as my mom had her sandwich and I did not. She said they were making it. I stood there to take the wrap when it was ready and she brushed past me and said "need your table number" which was not very professional. Following this, I said to her it would have made more sense to bring both sandwiches out at once, common sense. The girl then proceeded to say I don't get to talk to a service worker like that. I then asked if there was a manager available to speak to about the service. At this point not specific to her just in general. She said there was no boss or manager in the shop. I then asked what her name was so I could call and leave a review. She then said I don't need to know her name and they don't wear name tags for a reason. She also noted there would be no place for me to call because the shop does not have a direct phone number. I let her know I would ask another employee for her name to which she replied "they won't tell you either".When she walked away I took a picture to describe her since she would not tell me her name. A few minutes went by and she came back to my table telling me to delete the photo from my phone getting in my face beside the table. I let her know I would need to describe her since she did not share her name when I asked. She then proceeded to offer me a refund for the meal and said "you should be grateful you got your food". I should just be grateful I got my food in a restaurant I paid for the food in? When you pay for a meal, customer service goes behind that. She then came back to ask my mom if that was how she raised me???? I spoke with respect up until I was disrespected as a paying customer. A simple "I accidentally brought your food to a different table and we are making you a fresh one now just a few minutes" would suffice. Unprofessional and disrespectful employees should not be working in such a great neighborhood spot. I have been coming here for several years and she ruined the reputation completely. Also, the phone number leads you to leave a voicemail. I have left one requesting a manager or owner call me back on this. The best description I have is she's a brunette with glasses and several arm tattoos. Hopefully, someone with this low of a level in professionalism can be replaced at a great spot. read more

Wanted to checkout the cupcakes. We got the red velvet, mixed berry, vanilla and coconut. I got the red velvet for my son. I'm not a fan of red velvet but he said it was moist and the frosting was not too sweet. I had the mix berry which was also moist but tasted tangy at the end. I'm guessing from the frosting and berry which was different. I'm not a fan of frosting especially on cupcakes because usually their too sweet and there's too much. I love stopping by here for the relaxing casual atmosphere and for a nice cup of coffee. I finally came to try the food during my lunch hour and had the vegan taco salad wrap. It was really delicious and I could tell they use only the freshest ingredients! There is ample seating area either in the trendy and chic indoors or outside on the patio which is also dog-friendly. After eating, it's fun to walk next door through Barnone (a craftsman community) to check out all the independent shops and restaurants as well as the farm store to buy some fresh produce! read more

Here's a tuna salad sandwich and a caramel deluxe from @thecoffeeshopaz. Not gonna lie, but I wasn't a big fan of the sandwich. The bread was a bit stale and the tuna was a kinda flavorless. Honestly, I think I'd prefer a tuna sandwich from Fry's. It tastes better and it's cheaper I wasn't completely disappointed though cause the coffee was pretty good! Overall, it was alright. Very disappointing. This was my second time here first time was great however that was pre pandemic so staffing may have changed. The food was mediocre as well as the coffee. It's the staff that was horrible. It's a busy place a lot going on at one time and a little chaotic trying to find seating. The staff looks miserable not friendly at all and actually had an attitude because we asked for help cleaning up a table we wanted to sit at. This is a really cool coffee shop / restaurant hybrid. It has the quaint feeling of a local coffee shop with a full service restaurant and bakery menu. There are several other restaurants and shops located next to it in a unique tree-lined area -- it really has a "farm-like" feel. I love love love this place. Their food is great. San Diegan is a must. The chai tea here is fantastic. All their food is great. One downside is their seating absolutely sucks. If you go when it's busy you are probably better off going somewhere else. People are pretty cut throat there about stealing tables. I love this little coffee shop next to Joe's Farm Grill. They have a nice patio that is dog friendly and can accommodate a lot of people. They have different sandwiches and breakfast items than Joe's Farm Grill and the quality is right on par with JFG. I had a delicious breakfast burrito there once. I love the creaminess of their lattes and they don't over sweeten them. Take a stroll through the community garden after your meal for an all around great experience. read more

Awesome food and atmosphere but disappointed in the coffee options. No cold brew and no OATMILK. Funny because the girl right ahead of me asked for oatmilk as well. Hopefully they'll start selling it soon because not everyone likes almond milk or soy milk. And being lactose intolerant your milk options are limited. Oatmilk steams like regular milk and doesn't change the taste of your coffee like soy and almond do. My boyfriend enjoyed their espresso but he did say it was slightly over tamped so it was fairly bitter. We moved here from Arcadia which is loaded with great coffee shops. The Coffee Shop is closest to us and it's SO SAD that we won't be returning for coffee during our daily morning routine. read more

I found out about The Coffee Shop as they were one of the winners on Food Network's Cupcake Wars. I've got a huge sweettooth so I was excited to try this place. We decided to have a late breakfast so my daughter & I shared the San Diegan (an open face omelette with bacon, sour cream, potatoes, feta, green onions, cheddar and mushrooms. This omelette had all of my favorite ingredients. It wasn't too salty, maybe just a little too oily but the feta added a nice tang. It kind of tasted like a baked potato with eggs and feta. My husband had the Papas Grande Burrito (potatoes, eggs, bacon and cheese). My husband said it was OK; pretty good. We picked up a Bostom Cream Pie and MIxed Berry cupcakes to bring back to the hotel. I was pretty disappointed with the cupcakes (the breakfast dishes were better). Although the cupcakes were moist, they were just average. Not exactly the "wow" factor I was expecting as winners of Cupcake Wars. But don't get me wrong, they weren't terrible. Just OK. read more

The Coffee Shop is probably my favorite shop in Gilbert (but let's be real, unless you're a Starbucks fanatic that isn't saying too much). I'll start with the downside: For being called "The Coffee Shop" their coffee is really not impressive. Certainly nothing to write home about. This is more of a semantic complaint I guess, since I still love the place, but let's just say if I was looking for a pour-over, or a good roastery, etc. I would not choose this place. Their monsoons are great if you are feeling more... frappuccino-ish? That being said, everything else about this place is great. The food is really tasty and affordable. I love the breakfast, specifically the San Diegan, which has a super west coast feel (obv) and never disappoints. The bakery has quite a few options that are likely to place you in a sugar coma (in the best possible way). Their cupcakes are super dense, unlike any I've had before with insanely sweet frosting. I am a huge fan, although to be honest I can hardly eat a whole cupcake. They are that rich. If you can find seating inside, it has a nice open atmosphere. This is difficult to do in the summer because there seems to always be one person sitting at tables that are meant for 4 for what seems like hours at a time. That being said, the Coffee Shop doesn't have many plug-ins, so they are doing their part to ensure you can find a table. The outside seating is arguably better, albeit pretty warm in the summertime.
