UPDATE: The owner Doug, personally apologized to me and offered me a free haircut for the mix-up. That is the exact kind of customer service (and really, above and beyond) that I would have liked to see from the beginning. It definitely turned the entire experience around! As well as the awesome work that my last-minute sub, Jory did. My hair looks amazing and I feel valued as a customer. Thank you! I have been going to Rachael Novito for years and let me start by saying, Rachael is amazing. I recommend her 100%. She is now on maternity leave and apparently the Collage gives zero crap about their customers staying with the actual salon. Her maternity leave was supposed to start on May 7, so I made an appointment weeks in advance for May 4 - two days before my 30th birthday. I show up a few minutes before my appointment time and am told that she started her maternity leave early. The girl at the front desk says they called me and left me a voicemail to let me know. Turns out, they called an old number when they have been using my new number (that I have had for over a year and is the number indicated on my Vagaro user profile) for as long as I can remember. Did they try and email me (my preferred mode of communication indicated on my Vagaro user profile)? Nope! What they DID do, was email me asking to confirm my appointment on May 1 and then email me AGAIN on MAY 3(!!!) REMINDING me of my appointment the next day. Soooo, call those mistakes one through three. Mistake number four occurred when I showed up for my appointment and all the front desk people offered me was a half-ass "sorry." Not, "here's how we can help." I had to fight back tears of anger and frustration as I explained how May 6 is my 30th birthday and I was very upset about all of this (how do they not know how important hair is to girls?!). Still, no offer to help me at all except to give me Rachael's number, which I have and a lot of help that will do me now. I finally had to ask what they were going to do for me and they offered me an appointment later in the day with someone else, which is great (I guess, more expensive person of course). After 40 minutes of my day lost showing up and going back to work. I understand it's a group of independent contractors, but the front desk really shouldn't treat the customers like it's just a group of independent contractors. And of course I will not be compensated financially for any of this hassle because, as just mentioned, it's a group of independent contractors. The cherry on top is that all that can be accomplished in my new 90 minute appointment is a partial highlight whereas Racheal can do a highlight, cut and blowout in that same amount of time. So my life gets to be inconvenienced yet AGAIN if, god forbid, I want a haircut. All of this could have been avoided with slightly more due diligence by the salon (how about an email too?!?!) and a little bit of courtesy for their major screw up. read more

I'm here to write a review about the amazing brow specialist, Jen Tedesco. I've been seeing Jen for 5 years to have my brows done, and every single time I see her, I am completely blown away by not only her incredible work ethic, but her approach in striving for excellence in creating perfect brows is truly UNREAL. Jen is incredibly friendly, put together, professional and just so relaxing to be around - and I promise that after you leave your first brow appointment with her, you'll secretly wish that you were in her best friend. She's the sweetest person in the world and so, incredibly calming. Apart from her extremely professional and cool-headed manner, this woman is an absolute artist in her craft and is by far probably the most recognized brow artist in the greater Seattle area. Her talent in shaping eyebrows is SO mindblowing. She's incredibly meticulous and attentive to detail, and after careful waxing, she will tweeze out every.last.hair. that may stand in the way of absolute perfection. After that, she'll trim your brows at such a perfect angle that when you look in the mirror, you will C R Y from how beautifully your eyebrow hairs fall at such a natural and cleaned up angle. I'm probably the pickiest person on God's green earth when it comes to my brow artist, hair stylists, nail artists, etc.... and I can guarantee you that there's no one better than Jen. I'm not a very good writer so my thoughts might be all over the place, but over the last 5 years I've taken lots of my friends to Jen to have their brows done, and her talent in working with a diversity of shapes and sizes of brows really is so so impressive. I will NEVER go to any one else. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Kardashians swoops her in the near future to be their personal brow artist -- SHE REALLY IS SO GOOD!!!!!! We all know that awful feeling of looking in the mirror and not getting at all what you envisioned for your eyebrows, and it's probably the worst feeling in the world. So I feel like the luckiest girl in Seattle because literally the best hairdresser and brow specialist I see both work at The Collage now. Alex Folino: I've lived in Seattle for 16 years and almost two years ago I started seeing Alex Folino to help me with my hair. I had chosen to stop chemically straightening my hair and went what we black women call "going natural". I was also coming out of a very stressful time that resulted in so much hair breakage that I basically shaved my head to start completely over. Some friends recommended I see Alex and I'm so glad I did. Her hair cutting and styling skills are amazing. And I love the product lines she chooses to use. She listens to me and I know this sounds silly but she really cares about my hair as much as I do - at least she makes me feel that way :-) I joke with her every time I see her now that she has magic in her hands. I'm more than satisfied with the health and strength of my natural hair. She has helped me love my hair back to life and has literally helped my confidence. And...she answers all of my many questions. And I love that my appointment time is always honored - I'm literally in and out in a reasonable time. She's professional, funny and highly skilled. Fantastic Experience at The Collage Salon I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Collage Salon for a hair treatment, cut, and color, and I couldn't be happier with the results! For two years I searched all over Seattle for somebody who could perfect my blond like my stylist in California. I spent a shit ton of money and always walked out feeling...meh. Then after two years, my search ended when a friend of a friend recommended Jory at Collage Salon. Not only is Jory a complete doll, but she also does the best job out of anyone who has ever touched my hair and I am VERY picky. I was previously paying $200 every 3-5 weeks to maintain my foils, but Jory promised me that she would do my hair in a way where I would eventually only be going to her once every few months. I thought that was a crock of shit, but she was right. She was the greatest thing that Seattle has ever given me! While she is a little on the high priced side, she blends my blond in so well that I truly am saving hundreds of dollars a year and, like I said, the best color I have ever had. I was really curious what this space was going to become and was pleased to see a refreshingly colorful, light, and open salon move into the Belltown neighborhood. I must admit, I am always hesitant to try a new salon & let someone new mess with my big curly red hair that has a mind of its own. Plus, I had allegiance to another well known salon in the area, but my stylist had recently left Seattle. As I walked in to see a smiling receptionist, beautiful & meticulously decorated space, and a stylist with hair I coveted...I instantly relaxed a little. I could instantly see this was a place that pays attention to details...the coffee, for example, is delicious and rich. It's brought to you in a cute curvy glass. Details, details. My stylist, Deb was laid back and entertaining. She gave me some good styling tips for my curly mane (that sometimes wants to resemble Carrot Top). I am really impressed, Collage. I actually joined Yelp just to write this review. A friend recommended Jed when I really needed help with my hair. I have always struggled with managing my curly, frizzy hair and resorted to tight buns for the past 2 or 3 years. I told Jed I wanted a low maintenance cut that would finally allow me to wear my hair down and wow... he delivered. He is a master of layers and this cut is the first one I've ever had that compliments and controls my unruly curls. It is also the lowest of maintenance, I can literally towel dry, apply a little product and go. Every single person I know has been amazed and 4 weeks later I'm still amazed when I look in the mirror. He listened to exactly what I wanted and delivered. He also recommended a great product that I use daily when I asked about it and didn't try to upsell me on a bunch of stuff I didn't need. The Collage is the salon to frequent!!! Its a high-end upscale feel salon, but has very reasonable prices. CoCo, styled my hair twice and Nidia did Baylage on my hair and I am Hooked. They are both very talented, experienced, and personable stylists. Coco makes the time go by fast with his welcoming/colorful personality and he is patient with my thick hair and does a fabulously fantastic job. he layered my hair and styled it and I had never received so many GOOD complements from friends and family about haircuts in the past. Nidia did a fabulous job as well and gave me my first bayalage which I intend to get again. I live in tricities and am willing to drive for this service. Lisa has been cutting my hair for the last 10+ years. She has been blessed with the wonderful gift to be able to know what haircut suits your face and lifestyle. A co-worker introduced me to Lisa and I have been following her wherever she has been working ever since. I have very fine, limp, thin hair and Lisa has always done miracles with it. I get a lots of compliments. I have a friend who owned a salon in California and he always inspects my hair when I see him. He thinks Lisa is the greatest and he hasn't even met her! Professionally friendly, very clean and inviting environment. While all the artists there are exceptional, the two I have followed for over a decade now are Shannon (cut) and Keri (color). Other than both being awesome women, their respective skills are truly outstanding. Not once have I left the salon feeling anything other than great. Shannon is at the tippy top of her field - her cuts and stylings are always the.....very.....very.....best. She simply KNOWS. I have seen Andrea Nemia for balayage since 2013. I first went for a consultation with her, because I'd been unhappy for awhile with the foil color I had been getting at another salon. I could tell immediately that she was knowledgeable and intuitive. She grasped what I wasn't happy with right away, and explained the changes she would suggest making. I have been happy ever since! Andrea has a great eye for color and is in complete control of the results. Besides my own blond locks, I have seen beautiful variations in all colors come out of her chair while I'm there. I had a brow was and glycolic peel with Karin. Amazing. The room was cozy and comfortable, the music was soothing and Karin was professional, calm, relaxed and made me feel comfortable and great. I have really good skin but Karin made my skin feel terrific. I came out feeling refreshed and relaxed. Make sure you don't have to go anywhere afterward because your hair will looks super messy or schedule a hair appointment for after your peel, with Sean, so you can pamper yourself some more with a great haircut. I will be going back to see Karin again. Parking is Seattle street parking so you will pay a small fee at the parking kiosk but it was super easy parking right by Collage. read more

I have had the pleasure of having Jen do my eyebrows on three different occasions. Prior to seeing her it had been YEARS since I had had them done. She shaped them beautifully giving me the natural but clean shape I desired. Shockingly I was barely even red/pink in the areas where waxing took place. My previous experience (again years and years ago with someone else) involved a complimentary makeup touch up to cover up redness with Jen I didn't need that. I was ready to go. Collage is amazing! Let me start at the beginning. I decided to let my friend cut my hair - big mistake. I wore a hat for a week and didn't want to be seen. I thought there was nothing that could be done and I would just have to wait for the hair to grow back. But when I went into Collage to see if there was any hope, they fixed everything.
