After the hostess expressly told us we could bring our kids to the bar the bartender asked us to move seats around and barely approved us to wait there for our table despite us ordering drinks. Her condescending tone and demeanor is enough for me to never want to return to one of our favorite spots. It was a very disappointing experience. This place has turned into such a joke trying to be an "upscale" joint. We tried for lunch on a Tuesday and were told it would be an hour wait even though there were tables open. I love the atmosphere here! The indoor/outdoor dining setup lends itself really well to the menu and vibe of the place. I came in late-ish on a Tuesday night after a long day of traveling and some heavy Yelp-ing to find good restaurants in Phoenix. I was a little disappointed with my food here - the brussels sprouts were charred to a crispy and tasteless, and the had absolutely no bacon in them. For $11, they were a mistake. I also ordered the caeser salad with no dressing. The salad came with dressing on it and was missing the rotisserie chicken that was supposed to be included. The waiter quickly fixed the latter and the waiter attributed it to a new gentleman working in the kitchen on the salad line. At the late hour I was starving and it didn't seem worth it to wait another 10 minutes for them to re-do the salad without the dressing. Despite the food mishaps, my waiter was very nice. Wow. The Collins is a well-oiled machine and the gift that keeps on giving. My sister and I came in for an impromptu dinner tonight, and Caitlin, our server, and the rest of her team provided us with the best service we've experienced in Phoenix since we moved here 10 years and 4 years ago respectively from Washington, DC. The oysters, tuna, artichokes, and crab cakes were excellent, complimented by our outstanding cocktails (Old Fashioned, Rosemary Bourbon, and spicy tequila), finished off with their generous offerings of tres leches cake and chocolate mousse pie. The staff did not skip a beat, maintaining consistent but not overbearing attention, with an uncommon kindness, attention to detail, and lack of pretense. I told the manager and she slanted her head and said I'm sorry and kind of gave me a little smirk. I'm so happy I took a chance to try a place I've never been before, because it led me to here. To start, decor is so nice - everything is so clean, new, fresh. Happy hour is insane - shrimp, sliders, wine all phenomenal. Our server Tony was so friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Water glass always full, fresh silverware remarked, and led us through the menu rather than just suggest random things. Tony led me to getting the swordfish and cauliflower and beets - WOW. So insanely good. I never feel compelled to write yelp reviews unless my experience was terrible. I was pretty excited to try them out after bookmarking it for awhile. I loved the previous restaurant and curious to see how the remodel would look like. It actually looked about the same coziness and warmth of a cool spot. Our bartender Ashley was sweet but a bit overwhelmed. They offer takeout and dine in with spacious seating for social distancing. My preference is dine in at the bar to have a bit of normalcy in these times. So excited they carry Four Roses and use it quite a bit in their drinks. With that said, order a Manhattan. It's incredible with Four Roses. The Vodka and Pineapple was refreshing as was the Rum and Spices Berries. However, I am not a fan of the cinnamon syrup and a bit too much ice in the drink. That rum is killer and I'm not a rum fan! Loved our dirty martinis but why do they short you on olives? It is what makes the cocktail. Good lord for $15 dollar drink give me four olives. At least. We started with oysters which is always a good idea. They only had Pacific Coast ones at this time and they were a bit salty. I'm more a fan of Bluepoint, Malpeque, and Kumamoto. We ended up opting for carbs and Sausage and Mushroom Pizza was the choice. Gotta admit, charred brussels sprouts is different and I am undecided if I like it on my pizza, probably how some feel about pineapple on pizza. With this being one of the options of restaurants open during these times, I am not sure if it would be my first choice. I was not overwhelmed nor was I underwhelmed. Perhaps a second visit is in order to try to the lobster roll. Sometimes, you need a do over because you weren't quite ready for the first. I like to believe every day is a second chance. read more

We came for brunch and I would definitely recommend this place! We have never been to any of this companies restaurants but this place has had the same owner but a different name so they could mix up the menu I guess, start fresh I guess. While we didn't drink, the mimosas and bloody Mary's are only $5! The French toast sounded amazing, but anything soaked in ice cream and deep fried probably would. We opted to keep it a tad healthier and got the crab eggs bene and the avocado, tomato bene. The avocado bene was delicious, the eggs were cooked perfect and there was generous amounts of avocado on both. The hash browns were perfectly salty and crispy and were huge! The crab bene had a huge amount of crab and was also the perfect taste. The only thing next time is I would get the hollandaise on the side because I felt like my bene was drowning in it, but my boyfriend didn't seem to mind it! The Collins is fantastic! I was lucky to be in AZ during Restaurant Week so I ordered the 3-course Prix Fixe meal. Starting with the Oysters (delicious) Prime Rib (outstanding) and I asked them to pack my dessert, Chocolate Mousse Cake as a "to go", which they did and included utensils which was appreciated! Was really excited about trying this restaurant. My friend and I both got the French onion soup which was perhaps made with ocean water it was so salty! We also ordered what we thought was French onion dip however it was pretty much sour cream mayonnaise and chopped up onions. And it was also served with tortilla chips. Perhaps we miss read the menu! Worst 4.5 star restaurant I've been to. I ordered the salmon tartare off the happy hour menu and it was served poke style. The salmon had the tenuous membrane making it difficult to chew. Almost all 1"x 1" cubes were this way. They should have scraped the membrane to make tartare. Chef didn't know what he was doing or lazy. My wife ordered the crispy fish off the main menu and I could smell the fish from where I sat. Not fresh. The table next to us ordered the pizza and it looked good. Probably should have ordered that. We were absolutely wowed by their crab mac n' cheese that was creamy and optimally cheesy. The drink options are very tasty as well. I ordered a blackberry bourbon cocktail that was artfully crafted and featured one of those fancy ice spheres so your drink doesn't become watery so quickly. I felt classy just sipping it! The only happy hour offering I wouldn't order again was the shrimp. The dipping sauces were delicious, but you can also get large charred shrimp in the risotto on happy hour, which is a must! We stopped in for Happy Hour around 5PM on a Monday and the joint was rocking'. We grabbed the last 2 bar seats and reviewed the menu. They had Bell's Oberon, one of my faves while my wife was shocked and thrilled that they had her favorite red, Predator Zin. We started with homemade potato chips and French onion dip. Excellent. After a bit, we spotted another couple had ordered the Brussels sprouts and it looked delicious. So we ordered that and the Noble bread service. The sprouts we nicely charred with a drizzle of balsamic and chunks of bacon. Delicious, but surprisingly chewy. Not as tender as we'd hoped. The Noble bread was as always delicious. The 3 pieces of toasted bread came with a tablespoon of butter. While we like the taste of the bread, we needed more butter. We asked for something and they provided EVOO and balsamic. That worked. The service was fine, considering how busy it was. And HH is all night on Mondays. read more
