The ambiance was great. Dim lighting and comfortable seating. Sophia, our waitress was patient, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the menu. We tried quite a few things as pictured. The highlights were the braised short rib and risotto, the brussel sprouts, and the coconut cream pie. I wouldn't change a thing about any of those menu items, although the plating for the short rib was a bit cheesy with the Brussel sprout leafs circling the edge. The cocktails left a lot to be desired. I didn't care for the ginger mule. I tried it because it was the bartenders special but I could have passed on it. I also had a grapefruit and tequila cocktail that wasn't that great either. In summary I would say if you want a good meal you can find that here. If you are looking for the best culinary experience you ever had, keep looking. read more

The boristas were very pleasant and help me choose some items of the menu chopped salad with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and bacon with chili vingerette dressing, and it was amazing, Then I opted for the shrimp cocktail, which you could order 6 or 12 shrimp, I believe, and it was not your typical shrimp cocktail. This restaurant is so close to the Biltmore so if you're staying at the hotel and want a little something more, the Collins is a superb option! I made a reservation for 5 ladies which 2 of those were 6 & 8 years old. We were promptly shown to a comfy large booth. We started out with appetizers & bread service. As we moved on to our entrees, we were never rushed and our drinks were always refilled without even asking. I ordered the Butchers Cut Steak with a loaded Baked Potato and a glass of Pinot Noir. The young ladies had the kid's meals. Their plates were adorable (wish I took a picture of it) & a Tres Leches Cake for dessert. The portion was shareable but I didn't have any which means I will return someday to try it as it looked amazing!! Overall, everything was nothing short of awesome. The Collin's is a solid dining option for day or night. In the last year I've been there a few times and tried to order something different every time. Prior to this year I maybe had been there once or twice. It's a very comfortable yet sophisticated decor - the lack of walls makes it feel like a really large spot. For the neighborhood, you can't find a much better deal for price versus quality of meals. Without a drink I've spent about $20-$30 and depending on what alcohol you order, can run you north of $40. I've been once during happy hour years ago, the menu is still good. They have a solid rotating craft beer and wine menu, and some delish cocktails to match. My most fave items to order for food are the King's burger (subbing for another cheese instead of bleu), the crab cakes (good for appetizer/sharing), and the club house salad (the homemade dressing is mouth-watering). If your meal gets a side, go with the fries - the 'perfect seasoning' is definitely addicting. Appreciate Chef Collins creating a cool, affordable spot in a bougey area that has good people and a menu to match. read more

My family and I dined here on a Saturday afternoon and had a great experience. I had made a reservation online; we were seated when we got there at a table on the patio as we requested upon arrival. Our server came by and took our orders soon after. We ordered the bread service to start with. As much as I love bread, this didn't seem worth it. The sides that were grilled had that charred taste, not my favorite. In other instances (other restaurants), they provide a couple types of bread, but this just came with one item that was bread boule sized. Luckily, our lunch entrees were much better. Most of us started with their soup of the day which was a chowder - very tasty! For our entrees, we had selected a variety of items including the Chicken & Brie sandwich, Braised Beef Short Ribs, Baby Back Ribs, Arcadia Club, and Roasted Cauliflower. Overall, everyone really enjoyed their food. I had gotten the sandwich which was good, a bit heavy on the brie but if you like that cheese, this one is definitely for you. This place immediately became a favorite after trying just two items that absolutely blew me away. First, the Charred Brussels Sprouts. If you think you don't like sprouts, try these. They were perfectly crispy, smoky from the charring, and seasoned beautifully. They manage to be both rich and light at the same time--a must-order appetizer. But the real star of the show was the Short Rib Mac N Cheese. Wow. This dish is pure, indulgent comfort food taken to a gourmet level. The macaroni was coated in a creamy, velvety cheese sauce, and the short rib pieces were incredibly tender and rich. It was deeply satisfying and easily one of the best Mac N Cheeses I've ever had. I had an awesome time here recently with some family and friends!! A "new neighborhood concept" restaurant with modern decor and a relaxed ambiance, this place offers indoor and outdoor seating! We had a reservation, but you might not need one depending on the time of day! Victoria was our server and she did an incredible job taking care of our larger group of 8. She was also very knowledgeable about items on the menu and what specials were being offered. For our appetizer, we tried the noble bread service. The bread was warm and soft, and the whipped butter with sea salt was the perfect accompaniment. For my entree, I ordered the twisted noodle salad with chicken. This dish was delicious and the portion was large! I recommend this dish and would order it again myself. Other popular dishes people ordered were the golden beets, the pecan-wood fired artichokes (very popular at the table) and the blackened ahi tuna! No one had any complaints. The French onion soup was the special soup of the day, and once my mom tried my dad's and realized how good it was, she wanted to order some too. Unfortunately there was a 15-20 minute wait, so she decided to pass on the soup. But then, the chef brought out a complementary to go soup for her later! For dessert, half of the table ordered the chocolate mousse pie while the other half opted out. However, Victoria was so nice and brought us a piece of their coconut cream pie on the house for us to try! So nice of her, and the pie was delicious! This place went way above and beyond! A great date night spot if you are in the area! Service was amazing, our server went above and beyond! We tried a few items on their menu. Starting with cocktails, the lavender haze was delicious! It was a little bit of heavy pour but if you are cool with that, this place is for you. Their rosemary-lavender syrup complimented the floral notes in the gin very well. Actual dinner: oh my god we tried the butcher cut (which was a ribeye), 1000 percent worth the price! The ribeye was very tender and was a perfect med-rare. The steak sauce was an interesting addition, tasted almost like a soy sauce based sauce. I would not pour the whole thing on it due to the saltiness. Next, we tried the braised short rib that was serviced with one of the best risotto and wild mushrooms I have had in a while. The short rib did not overpower the dish and it was tender but not super tender that it is a little mushy to eat. And for my fav portion of our night: the tres leche cake and coconut creme pie. Our server was so kind that she sent out the pie in addition to our order since we were from out of town. And I am so grateful and glad she did because that coconut pie was to die for! All around, a solid experience. From the quick greeting and seating to the bread and blackened redfish special that I ordered, my experience was great. I love it when the ingredients are fresh and the meal is simple. The quality really comes through when there is not a laundry list of ingredients to hide any faults. Here, my fish was cooked simply with a bit of sauce (it was not drowning in sauce) and plated with wilted greens that had a little added (cabbage?) to give them a bit of texture. Yikes! We are fans of all the Collin's places and we've been here several times but go to scottsdale more frequently. My husband ordered the crab cakes which were well done and dried out. I had the rotisserie chicken with the shredded squash that was tasteless. The mustard sauce, too was void of almost any flavor. I'm actually still a bit nauseous since dinner. Very disappointed. The family brought me here for Mother's Day - a very good choice. We started with the Noble Bread Service: piping hot bread with whipped butter. Would it be nice to get complimentary bread? Absolutely. But this appetizer was really tantalizing if you like hot, buttered bread like my family does. My son and I split the French Dip sandwich with shoestring fries. The meat was tender and perfect, as were the fries. I wouldn't have chosen a seeded bun but if you like that kind of thing it's fine. Being that it was a holiday, we just had to bring some pie home of course. I would say that the coconut cream and chocolate mousse were equally good in their different ways. As a fan of the Collins it pains me to leave a bad review. Tried the Brunch for the first time. I will start with the good. The coffee is amazing. Along with the avocado toast. Unfortunately, that is where the good ends. Despite my sitting at the bar. ( highest visibility seating) and single cup of coffee was all I was afforded. Even with edging the empty cup and saucer forward. My entire stay was just at an hour. No attempt whatsoever at offering me a refill. As delicious as the Avacado toast was. It was served on a thin flat cutting board. As careful as I was. Once the yolk of the undercooked egg was pierced. It immdiately ran off the cutting board (about 6 inches wide) onto the place matt. Awkward and a complete waste of the best part of the egg. The Grilled Artichoke was beyond dissapointing. Charred beyond belief. Dried out. I have had it before and it was amazing. Today it was a chore, and barely edible. It had been so over cooked. Burnt. The evidence of black burnt artichoke was all over the napkin. My napkin when I was done , looked like a mechanics rag. Even the heart was completely dried out and fibrous. I do understand that is was a busy Easter Brunch. That being said, still not an excuse for crap service, and the cook staff letting such an obvious mistake of a menu item be plated. Visual appearance alone showed that the artichoke was extremely over grilled and ruined. Yet it cleared the kitchen. This alone shows lack of pride in the kitchen staff. Along with lack of involvement of management. Could not be more dissapointed. I would be very hard pressed to return to the Collins. read more

Horrible service. Came here for dinner and they told us 1 hr and 20 min wait when there was over 7 open tables inside and outside they said all the tables were reserved. We went to the bar and got a drink- drinks were overpriced and not good and bartender was rude. We were there for 45 min drinking and not one of the empty tables was filled. $75 for 3 drinks - 2 rounds and none of the drinks were impressive. Great spot to eat in Phoenix! Cocktails (4/5): had their special of the month pina colada drink as well as the lavender drink which were tasty. Shrimp Cocktail (5/5): a little pricey at $3 per shrimp but they were so good! Prime Rib (5/5): prime rib for under $40 is a steal and it was delicious. Noticed they don't serve it with mashed potatoes anymore though. Added a small Caesar salad on the side which was good as well. Meat Lovers Pizza (3.5/5): forgot the exact name but it's the last pizza on the list, good but a little salty. Overall it's one of my favorite spots to visit when in Phoenix. Happy hour is from 3-6PM. Customer service was friendly but a little slow. It doesn't seem like they acknowledge special occasions though as we noted it was for an anniversary and nothing was mentioned. read more

The Collins has been a favorite spot of mine for years now, and every time I bring somebody new, they too enjoy the food and service. The restaurant has a polished yet relaxed vibe in the Biltmore Neighborhood. For my latest visit, Holly, the bartender, was our server and provided an excellent experience. It also happens to be AZ restaurant week, so we decided to go for the three-course option they had available. It was a belated Mother's Day lunch, so my Mom had the dip duo of guac and pimento cheese with tortilla chips, and the shrimp risotto; I had the same, but for my starter, I had the Old Bay seasoned Shrimp Cocktail. Both of our meals from beginning to end were fantastic and ended with a sweet touch delivered via what seemed to be locally sourced chocolate truffles.
