The store is clean and well organized, and I love looking at (and taking) some paint chip samples from the wall (Rock Garden is my favorite color!). There's something for every design sensibility, even historic colors modeled after actual shades from the 18th and 19th century. In a city like Newport where so many building need to blend seamlessly into historic districts, this is an invaluable feature to offer. Pricing is sensible for the high quality of the product, and the paint is even mixed fresh to order. The store's manager was friendly and welcoming the last time we shopped, and we will certainly be back and recommend to others embarking on similar design projects!

Meanwhile, I was never even acknowledged despite their being at least three, maybe four staffers up front. I own two homes and needed paint for both. I'm now shopping elsewhere. I went in knowing EXACTLY what I wanted and needed, bought the most expensive paint they carry (Aura by Benjamin Moore) and AFTER cashing me out I am told a paint can opener is an additional cost. Why not ask that BEFORE you run my credit card??? On top of that they did not put the color on the lid, so I am sitting at my desk now nervous that it won't be the color listed. I will painting on Saturday and if I open it and it's wrong you better believe they will be taking it back!!! I will NEVER return to one of their stores again. It's a local place with lifetime customers including other businesses, contractors, homeowners and vacationers, too. It's a community business where we can take a moment to acknowledge each other with a "hello how are you." If the reviewer was that put out they could have easily said something to the (always present) owner rather than complain about it here. They quickly got on the phone with another location and had the can sent over so we could pick it up a few days later. The employee programmed it into my order so the sale price would be honored days later, and gave a call when it was ready for pickup. Excellent customer service and a friendly vibe. Will definitely be back if I need paint for additional projects (although after all of the painting I just did, no offense to SW, but I hope it won't be for a little while!).
