This dive sandwich shop has been on my places to try for awhile. I love to support small local business and especially ones who do good for their community. Easy parking in lot in strip, We were immediately welcomed. As we were staring at the menu wall I mentioned it was our first time and the friendly girl at the register asked if she could go over the menu and tell us her favorites! Of course and thank you for the offer!!!! (That type of service is becoming far too rare these days). The menu consists of about 10 specialty sandwiches and some come with the size option of half or large. There is a refrigerator with some tea, canned sodas, and water as well as a small selection of pies & brownies. I got the alotta mufleatta which came in one size. It was massive and soooooo good! I couldn't finish it but did my best . I also enjoyed trying Mrs. Vicks spicy dill potato chips which I hadn't seen before. The bread is toasty and buttered and gave me a light buttered lip gloss experience that I do not regret. We also got the italian grinder and mid-cities steak sandwich which were all enjoyed. Portions are BIG. The staff we encountered were so nice, welcoming and helpful. We couldn't finish our sandwiches and went up to counter for wrap/to go container and they wrapped the sandwiches and put in a bag with some ruffle potato chips and peppermints. While we were there, a lady came in to pick up her sandwiches and told them she was taking lunch to her son at school who had requested them over McDonalds or chick fil a. There were more customers there that were just truly nice and expressing gratitude to the workers- was a great small community feel: I checked-in on yelp and received a 20% coupon offer which is a very nice offer. I look forward to going back & trying more!

I'm so sad that this one just didn't live up to its name for us. We road tripped just to try this sandwich shop after hearing about it on FB groups for a while. We ordered the mid cities cheese steak and the Italian grinder. Both whole sandwiches. I'll start with the mid cities cheese steak. First the bun wasn't super fresh. But they brushed it with butter and grilled it so it was crunchy on the grilled side and almost seemed stale otherwise. I pulled some apart for the baby and it just wasn't soft even on the inside. There was an ok amount of meat but it tasted like grease and salt. And very minimal peppers and onions if any onions at all. The Italian Grinder was just a cold sandwich with what seemed like cheaper Italian meats. Not sure why they called it a grinder. There were no Italian peppers or dressing to make it a grinder. We were less than satisfied with our $43 lunch. The prices on the menu are not correct, and you do not get chips with your sandwich. You have to pay a dollar for the little bag. But at least they have good chips, which was the best part of the meal.

Yes chef! If you go to a restaurant and see the owner on the grill, then you know you're at a special place. Thankfully, the food matches the commitment. The sandwiches are delicious and colossal. I'll be back!

2024 Yelp Top 100 for a reason. Totally worth a visit! Love these small businesses that are making their mark. The staff is very friendly and interested in making you happy. The food is fresh and very flavorful. The ambiance is very simple, but no complaints. The focus is the food. Eat here!

I saw the rave reviews and decided I had to check it out. The result was mixed. I ordered a small Mid-Cities Steak And Cheese. Good news it tasted great. Slightly too salty for my preference but the steak was grilled really well. Add in the melting cheese and peppers an you get a rock solid sandwich. The downside was that it was way too overpriced. The small size came out to $11+ without drinks or sides. Maybe the large size would be worth it? I'm debating on if I should return because the other items also look delicious..

These sandwiches are some of the best in DFW, my favorite is the Cubano half with the house chips. The jalapeno relish is also soooo good . My husband also lives the grinder! They had can and bottled drinks, we usually just bring in a water bottle. Owner is super nice, live supporting this licsl pl

This place was so good, I did not mind burning my tongue! lol Cheesy, piping hot, soft bun, and quick service. Was cooked right in front of me and super hot and fresh. Totally recommend. I ordered basically their Philly cheesesteak but it was called Mod Cities Steak and Cheese. Just a bit disappointed in the side of plain ruffles that it came with. I was expecting a small bag of my choice but it was the plain kind that came with the sandwich. It's all good tho, the flavor and cheesiness made it alright. Go check it out!

Oh man, finally stopped in for the infamous sandwiches here at The Colossal Sandwich Shop after eyeing their rave reviews on FB for a while. It's always been on my list for when I am craving a good sandwich but tbh that's not often for this Korean. Suddenly I had an urge for a sandwich today, and it happened to be 4th of July so color me ecstatic that they were open for lunch! I ordered through grub hub but I called ahead of time to check their hours and the person on the phone was pleasant and nice, despite it being a holiday. So, everyone speaking about this being a family run restaurant where everyone is family, was right. Ok, on to the food, IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. We ordered to go and my husband picked up, drove it back 25 mins and the food was STILL HOT. Fresh fresh fresh. I don't know why but we definitely ordered 4 sandwiches for the 2 of us. I know why, it's because every single sandwich on the menu sounded delicious. We told ourselves one was for the baby (he's 2), knowing full well he wouldn't eat much (he loved the cheesesteak meat and corned beef). ITALIAN GRINDER - hubs' go to sandwich. He said he would have wanted more pepperoni and salami as the ham and turkey overpowered the meats he loves. The ratio was pretty off because the ham and turkey are MUCH thicker than the pepperoni and salami slices. Overall flavor was good, though. JALAPEÑO CHEDDAR STEAK MELT - at first I thought it looked pretty small compared to the rest of the sandwiches. But, it was FULL of meaty, cheesy goodness. All the flavors of a Philly cheese steak, meat was MEATY. Absolutely loved this sandwich. THE COLOSSAL REUBEN SANDWICH - perfectly executed Reuben. Perfect balance of the layers. Delicious til the last bite. BACON TOMATO OOEY GOOEY SANDWICH - probably our least favorite of the 4. Only because I like an American cheese grilled cheese. I know I know, it's plastic cheese. But, that's what it was missing. I liked the buttery bread, though.

We ordered 2 Cubans, the small size, 2 empanadas, beef and chicken, with fried plantains and a Tamarindo and Guava juice, followed by their homemade flan. The Cubans and empanadas were very flavorful. That pork was delicious, and the bread toasted nicely to crunch a tad. You know it's good when you gotta clean the mustard and pork juice out of your beard afterwards. The empanadas were fairly big, with a perfectly seared, crusty masa, so tasty. Plantains were big and crunchy, which we broke into half and savored every bite. We washed it all down with the homemade Tamarindo and Guava. The flan fell flat for us but didn't take away from the experience of the meal and flavors. Very rare to find a Cuban this good so close to home.

Everything was delicious. The sourdough bread was very crispy and nice. Avocado toast was good, nothing impossible to recreate at home but done well. The flatbread looked incredible. I could not try it but my husband really, really loves this place and goes back on his own, which says everything. One complaint and it is the same complaint I have across most places in Dallas. Clean the espresso machine. My cappuccino tasted slightly burnt, which gives it that cardboard flavor, and serving a hot espresso drink in a paper cup does not help either. Hot milk and cardboard do not work well together. This is something that could easily be fixed and would make a real difference. Outside seating is very nice, covered and very clean. Cute place overall. Would recommend coming here. P.S. My ratings are based on whether I believe I could make a better or healthier version at home.
