First review of 2022! I live nearby, so I really wanted this salon to work out for me, so that it can be my go-to going forward. Happy to report that will indeed be the case. Their online booking system is not working, so call if you want to make an appointment. I appreciate that they're open until 8:00pm on some weekdays, so you can go after work. My stylist was Sam, and she was fantastic! I like being heard on my preferences, even if I have a pretty standard haircut. What I like even more is having a good conversation while she took her time, and didn't rush me out like I was on an assembly line. My cut (which included a shampoo mid way) was $35 + tip. I think that's a pretty reasonable rate for a men's cut. Inside the salon is very clean and spacious. Really enjoyed the whole experience from beginning to end. I love this place! I'm so glad I found it via a Google search for unicorn hair. All of the ladies here do awesome hair. They all have awesome hair. Torrie turned my dark hair with blonde highlights into the trendy oil slick. They use Eufora products and it was gorgeous. I will admit that it's been maybe a week or two and the hot pink and teal colors didn't stick so well but the purple and blues are going strong. Although I'm not sure I'll keep the colors, I'll definitely go back to Torrie for any future colors I choose. Torrie suggested I let her dye my base a blue black to flow better with the bright colors. It looks awesome. The salon itself provides waxing services and hair services. They sell Eufora products. While you wait, they have fruit water and magazines available. Also, you need at least several weeks in advance to have an appointment. They seat you at a bar when you get your hair dyed where instead of alcohol they mix hair dye on the other side. There's snacks and beverages available, also. Super positive vibe, friendly staff, prices are what you pay for, though. For my hair, it took 4 hours almost and was $270. read more

I was looking for a new place to get my hair done and found this place via Groupon. I had never had bayalage and wanted to try it. Jessica was my stylist. She started my appointment with a thorough consultation and answered my questions. I loved my hair after and I appreciate that Jessica listened to me. I have been back twice since and have been very pleased. The color looks natural and her scalp massage during the shampoo is amazing! She has also recommended two products to me that I really like and shown me how to maintain the style myself when I blow dry my hair. The salon itself is gorgeous and parking is a breeze. I moved about 20 minutes away after my first visit, but I will keep going to The Color Bar to see Jessica. I noticed the color that other guests walk out with is absolutely gorgeous too. Got balayage and haircut done with a Groupon voucher. Scheduling the appointment was easy and the location is easy to find using Waze. They have reserved spots on the retail level of the condo. The place itself is really cute and I really liked the set up. It's organized and flows better than a lot of salons. I was really happy with my color and cut. They even give you a small gift bag with some samples and coupons. The fruit infused water is also a nice touch. My stylist was great and I def see myself going back for my touch up. read more

I first contacted the CEO of The Colour Bar for a root touch up kit during lockdown while the salon was still closed. Jessica was super responsive to my needs. Prior to receiving my color kit, salons were allowed to reopen. Instead of trying to do the roots myself I want in for my appointment. I was so impressed with the care Jessica and her staff gave to COVID regulations. So I went back to her recently for my highlights. I was thrilled with the results! I've been to the Colour Bar three times now, each time just for a haircut. I was drawn because of a Groupon for a haircut with wash, deep conditioning, and a style. The first time I went, it was with Tori. She's very sweet - young and still gaining experience, but skilled for sure. My second time was a drastic change- I went from long hair to a pixie cut. My stylist was Brandi. She's AMAZING. She made me feel really comfortable making such a drastic change and did an amazing job. I was super pleased. Which is why I came backed for a third time with Brandi! She's great, even when I don't have a Groupon (although there's a Yelp check in deal going on right now for $10 off!). What a lot of mixed reviews, makes a gal a bit nervous when getting color done. I bought a Groupon figuring I could mix up my look and try to find a new go to salon. My experience is a solid 3.7 here. Torrie took my call and completed my appointment. She listened to my requests and worked on getting a solution. She let me know a glaze was extra and may be needed to get the look I wanted. I was ok with that, but I'm not a morning person and I just wanted a lift and to see what I'd feel like after (hence sleep on it and come back when need be). It was a bit more blond then honey caramel, but not so far off that I need an entire redo. In the left was the inspiration mocha caramel for most highlight and then request of pops of honey seen bottom left. Top Right is before and after as you can see I needed some color in my life. They do give you a swag bag of coupons on entrance, personally I think its better to get at the end. Everyone ends up putting it on coat rack anyways. I wasn't up for trying a cut just yet, so this is all on service and color. Let me just start by saying that I came in with a complex hair situation. My hair was dark red a year ago. I'd been highlighting, bleaching, and lightening it since that time and it was a reddish blonde color when I walked in the door. I really wasn't happy with it and wanted to go more on the cool side again (my natural color is ashy brown) but I wasn't even sure if it was possible. My appointment was with Melissa, who sat me down and asked me about my goals for the session. I wanted balyage with my natural color back at the roots and a nice cool blonde on the bottom. She warned me that this would be an extensive process and gave me the pricing in advance so I was prepared for the expense as well. While Melissa warned that red hair can be finnicky, she was able to achieve the exact look I was going for! I'm so happy I was scheduled with her. She did a great job and when I started asking about the potential of purple and pink color in my hair in the future, she was very open about the pros and potential cons. Overall just really good at explaining what was going on, what my options we're and keeping up eating throughout a 4.5 hour hair transformation! I've never been one to have a dedicated person that I go to for my hair, but I'm looking forward to going back to Melissa again for my next hair adventure. One note: bring cash! While the salon accepts cards for the service, they don't let you add the tip on to the card. Tips are cash only. read more

I love the convenience of Colour Bar and the pricing is well below Atlanta averages. However, if you're looking for a relaxing, spa-like experience, just know that this isn't it. The hair techs loudly have conversations amongst themselves in front of clients. The mirrors are routinely spotty, the floor has hair on it. The level of professionalism does not rival other salons in the area. I'm torn because Zach does a great cut and color (again, well below market), but if you're looking for an afternoon of self-care, I'd go somewhere else. read more

Krystal is hands down, the best colorist, I've gone to. And I've lived a long time. This last time, she rescued me from a disaster sitting on my head from someone I went to on vacation. She has great instincts, deals with us types that can't easily explain what we want but are going crazy looking at the mess in our heads, and then polishes things off with a great cut! My daughter goes to her regularly. As importantly she loves what she does and radiates warmth and humor. And to be honest, the salon itself, has a lively lovely vibe. I just moved to Atlanta and was looking for a really great salon to get my hair done at. I am EXTREMELY picky and a perfectionists when it comes to my hair, it's very hard for me to find a place that manages to give me exactly the hair tone I want and have in mind. Torrie exceeded my expectations, after talking to her for about two minutes about what results I am looking for, she said she know exactly what I want, went on to mix the colors and started applying it. Everybody was so nice at the salon, while my hair-color was setting in, I got to talk to a bunch of stylists. Very nice atmosphere, they have snacks and drinks for you. This place was a life saver. My hair is naturally brown, but 2 months ago i went to a different salon wanting to go blonde. Blonde never happened, the girl turned my hair a brassy orange color - i was horrified! Fast forward 2 months to this week when I found the Colour Bar on Yelp, and I'm so glad i did. They were able to get me an appointment same day, and Torrie worked some magic on my hair. I'm back to a good, blended brown color and I'm so happy! I went to the Colour bar for the first time today and loved the experience. My roots were in desperate need of some love, and that's what they got. The salon is large and airy, and what struck me was that there was no chemical smell when I walked in, even though there were a number of people getting there hair colored. I got the single process color, and they also blow dry your hair after. I had not heard about the Eufora product line before, but have been reading about it and so far I'm only seeing good things. Will wait and see how my hair does. Big added plus - they have glass tumblers to drink water out of, and paper straws. Love that I wasn't throwing away any plastic. read more

I used to really like this salon, but the quality of work has really seemed to decline. I went in for balayage, which I was told would take several sessions to achieve on my already ombre hair. After my first visit, my roots were ashy, the middle of my hair was brassy, and the ends were blonde. I needed a higher volume bleach to lift color already on my hair which I had discussed. I went in again for an additional toner as I did not have time to wait. I again asked for balayage and showed multiple photos of the look I was trying to achieve and I ended up with blonde hair and about 1/2 centimeter of my roots showing. It looked awful, like outgrowth from an overall bleaching. After that, I gave up with this salon. I'm not willing to spend any more money to have someone do something to my hair I never asked for. At each appointment, my stylist seemed rushed and had several other clients coming in while she was there with me so others had to shampoo and/or blow dry me. UPDATE: I did speak with the owner, who told me because my service was in December, she could not reimburse me for it. I didn't even know the back was as awful as it was until I went to have it fixed by another salon last month. Two separate stylists blow dried my hair so there is no way they did not see the huge patch of rust color in the back. Also, I feel like they should have continued to try to process the back of my hair since the front did lighten to what I wanted and I began with the same color throughout. However, this wasn't even mentioned. The owner told me even though she couldn't help, it would be a good training tool for her and her staff. That's great, but still doesn't help me, the customer. After relocating to Atlanta (and having a terrible experience at another salon) I stumbled across the Colour Bar Salon. I was able to get an appointment the same day with the wonderful Torrie Samuels. Torrie took the time to understand what I was really looking for and actually ready for. I left feeling amazing! I have since referred many friends to Colour Bar (and Torrie specifically) including my little sister who lives in California and loves coming to Georgia because it gives her the chance to go to her all time favorite stylist, Morgan. Hands down, this salon is one of the best in the area. Everyone that works there is so kind and genuine, it's very clean, and the stylists are all very talented. I love Morgan! She is the absolute best. I was desperate to find a salon that could fit me in on the fly one night and she was willing to stay late to help me out. That was back in the fall and I have gone back every time since. The atmosphere is great, the team is very outgoing and friendly. They help each other out all the time. One day I was on a tight schedule and the owner offered to wash my hair before my stylist came in so that the process would go quicker! Talk about GREAT hospitality and service! Such a fantastic salon if you are looking to add color to your hair. When you walk in, they ask you to change into a robe, provide you with a beverage, and they even have snacks (YES GAWD)! The stylist provides a thorough introduction of the technique they are going to use and make sure you are comfortable before they start the process. After they finish the color, they wash and blow out your hair and then provide you with a small gift bag on your way out. I know... I was shocked too when she offered me a gift bag. However, I can definitely say I loved the color of my hair. I got a balayage treatment (balayage - kissed by the sun - or fancy way to describe highlights) and I love it! I have already booked another appointment for 2 months from now to return back to the salon. I highly recommend trying this place out and fill out a card that says that I referred you :) read more

Disappointed. Well, the first time I went in, I got a great haircut and perfect highlights. Naturally, I returned. The second time she really didn't listen to what I wanted. At all. The highlights were too dense (specifically asked them not to be) so it looks like my hair is dyed rather than highlighted. The haircut was a disaster. She angled the hair forward instead of tapering from front to back, like I had asked. The layers are uneven and not blended well from the back layers to the front layers. I returned for a correction and while they were friendly, she just still didn't listen and seemed impatient. Then she tried to explain by saying that a lot of people like their hair angled forward. Well...that's the opposite of what I asked for. The layers are still not blended well, so I will have to pay someone else to fix it (love paying twice for a haircut). Some of the layers are almost an inch off from each other when you look on either side of my face. Maybe she had an off day?? I wish she had taken the time to listen and to understand the hair cut and color that I wanted especially if I took the time to return for a correction. read more

Krystel has been doing my hair for about a year. I am super picky, I don't want some common look, and I have really difficult hair. Because of all these things, I searched high and low for a stylist. After looking through her instagram, and reading every review everywhere, I went in to see Krystel. She is a color goddess. I am 35. My hair makes me look 27. I have had highlights, peekaboos, balayage and combinations thereof. All get compliments. All are amazing. And I teach college, so people are super judgmental... She also cuts my hair. I walked out of this salon, hopeful and satisfied. I waited a few weeks to see how my hair really turns out. I am really disappointed to say that I will go somewhere else next time. My hair color looked great when it was done. Staff is professional and friendly too, so that's a plus. I purchased their shampoo, conditioner, and olaplex because I was afraid that the color would fade, although they weren't cheap (~$70 for the three prod Even after using their shampoo and conditioner only, which are supposed to be 100% color safe, the color didn't stay on. My hair is back to yellow-ish brown, not the ash grey color I had the first day I got my hair colored. I'm sad that this salon didn't work out for me, because I was hoping to return here over and over.. I guess I will just keep looking. read more
