We have visited the Comedy and Magic Club several times and we have never been disappointed. This past week was no exception. We went Friday night to the five comics evening. The performance was in the larger room. The comics really connected with the audience because they had a bit more time to share their various experiences. The meal was delightful as it always has been.The service excellent. We met MIKE one of the founders of the club in the parking lot earlier in the evening, I had forgotten my tickets at home and couldn't find them on my phone. MIKE made sure that the front receptionist would accommodate us. It was wonderful. At the conclusion of the evening as we were driving home, my phone rang. It was the comedy club calling to let us know that one in my party had left her sweater on the chair. Did we want to come back to get it? We told them to just give it to someone who needed it because we were about to get on the freeway at that point. What a wonderful surprise that they took the care and initiative to figure out who was sitting at that table and to reach out to us, that's service ! I recommend this comedy club wholeheartedly. You'll have a great time and a great meal at an affordable rate. It's one of the best things going on the coast. Enjoy! Laugh!! Have fun. This beach town comedy club is awesome. It has a dark, old timey comedy club vibe with lots of hollywood memorabilia, and a minimum order requirement of two menu items per person. Menu prices were a bit higher than average but that's expected at these type of places. They have Mediocre food but great talent! Nobody comes to these places for the food, so I wont penalize them for the quality. The place pretty much met my expectations in that regard. The same goes for the drinks. I met some friends here to see the hilarious Kristin Key on a Thursday night. What a great show!! It's been literally 20 years since I've been here, & I was reminded of what a great venue this is. I was stressing on the drive over about the challenging parking - but I got there about 10 mins before doors open, & there was still parking in their rooftop lot. They ask for the name on the tickets to enter the lot, & then parking was free. Super great! Luckily my friends had already gotten in line, because seating is first come first served. Parties of 4 had seating options closest to the stage but all the seats have a great view of the stage. We were surprised at how good the food was! It was very easy to get to the 2-item minimum per person. Our food came out fast: Honey Garlic Shrimp - cooked perfectly, lightly glazed, on skewers Calamari - slightly oily but yum *Giant Bavarian Pretzel - a LEGIT delicious pretzel, w/mustard & warm cheese for dipping Crispy Brussel Sprouts - yum, but got drowned in the sauce at the bottom *Asian Sesame Salad - we added a piece of perfectly cooked salmon to this crunchy fresh salad We saw other people enjoying the pasta & steak & desserts. We loved everything we had. The rooftop lot closes 15 mins after the show ends, which they were sure to clearly announce. I guess they lock you in if you don't move your car out promptly! I was generously gifted four tickets to The Comedy & Magic Club last week and we had a really great time! It had been several years since we last took in a show here and I'm not exactly sure why. Regular priced tickets are an affordable $27/each and there is a 2 drink or food purchase requirement per person but still, in this day and age, I think TCMC's prices are very reasonable for a fun evening out. Apps are $12-$18 and entrees are $20-$33. We shared the crispy brussel sprouts ($12) and calamari ($18) and they were very tasty. Cocktails are $13-$17; pretty decent considering being at the beach just off Pier Ave. in Hermosa. The show we saw was their '10 Comics' show and we enjoyed all of them. Some were funnier than others but overall, it was a great show. Service was great and the venue itself is great and both it and the crowd was unpretentious. What a fun thing to do! I was walking by here yesterday visiting another business and I saw it and stopped in and talked to someone in the office before they opened. I found out about the show last night and decided to go online and get a ticket and attend. Going myself and not knowing anybody else, I met two groups of people who I sat next to at a table on the second level and had a great view of the stage. I had a white claw mango to drink and it was delicious and followed that up with the Street Tacos special with chicken and it was amazingly good. The sauce that came with it was kicking! It was really hot but it made the tacos really tasty. The service and wait staff was fantastic. They took care of all of our needs and we're right on the ball. I wish I lived closer because I would love to come back here on a semi regular basis especially since Jay Leno appears every Sunday. This is a great venue, it's small enough that it is an intimate type of comedy, I didn't see any magic last night and I am a big fan of close magic shows, but the juggler was really nice and really great in addition to all of the comedians. I found out late last night after the show that one of the comedians will be on the cruise that I'm getting on today and he was very funny. Thanks again for everything last night, it was a great evening with great comedians who really made me laugh a lot, great food and great company. It has been years since I last went to The Comedy and Magic Club. My department at work used to go here for our annual department Christmas parties years back. Fast forward to this year, I got to check out The Comedy and Magic Club for a lovely Saturday dinner date night recently. It was first come, first serve in terms of seating and they don't have many tables for two. We basically had to share a table with another couple - which wasn't too bad as the pair was friendly and nice. When we arrived at the venue, we were asked for our IDs. To attend to show here, you have to be 18 or older. This night also happened to be the last show for their 47th birthday bash and so it was a sold out show. For the birthday show, they had 20 comics on stage. The comics had a range of different skits and jokes. Some more funny while some were a bit on the dark, not so politically correct side (to be expected). Food and drink wise , guests are obligated to get two items each (this is separate from the show tickets). We ended up getting the Apple and Gorgonzola Salad, Angus Chesseburger Sliders and some drinks. Both of the food items were perfect for splitting. I also got their Comedy Cooler which was like an adult version of the Cactus Cooler soda. Since this show was part of the Comedy and Magic Club's birthday extravaganza, they were handing complimentary cupcakes at the end. Overall The Comedy and Magic club is a good place for a Saturday night out. You get dinner, drinks and a show! The staff of the comedy and magic club were all very nice and attentive. This was our 1st time at The Comedy & Magic Club. We were actually headed to the pier when we passed by and saw the sign with a few people headed in. We absolutely love stand up. So, "Let's do it", we said. Got lucky with metered parking less than a block away. The guy outside was friendly. Let us know the show had already started (8 min's in) and walked us to the office to purchase tickets YaY Once inside, it was a packed house but we had a table with a great view. Comedy line up was 10 comedians. We missed the 1st one for obvious reasons (late) and some of the next due to looking over menu and ordering. Our server greeted us and took our order. Husband had two 805s, I ordered a white peach margarita and we shared the trio slider sample, which came with fries. The food and drinks were good. Restroom was clean. Thank you CMC for providing laughter and good times. We absolutely recommend & look forward to going back again! All comics were funny. Especially enjoyed (in no particular order)... I've only been here once, and I came by myself, which was odd for me. Majority of the tables are tiny. Just enough for 2 people to have their drinks, which is probably all you need at a comedy club. They have a full restaurant but the tables are not big enough for full meals. I came about an 1.5 early as I wanted a good spot. I ended up on the 3rd-ish row on the side but when I arrived, it looked like only senior citizens were there, which I am not. Luckily towards closer to the beginning of the show, non-seniors were showing up, though more seniors did show up. Parking may be challenging as it is across the street from the beach, and near the Hermosa pier. There are street meter parking but again, it's the beach so that may be challenging too. I parked on Valley Drive and walked, which wasn't a bad idea as I was sitting there for a couple of hours and this gave me time to stretch and workout on my way back to the car. They have tiny parking lot behind/above it but that gets full fast. Overall, my experience was okay. It is similar to the Laugh Factory and the Ice House. I would come back to check out some more acts. read more

We came here to celebrate my friend's 21st Birthday. We had a nice time, They have their usual 10 Comics line-up. I knew that when we made the ticket purchase, we were hoping it would be a well-known comic, they have 10 comics some are better than others but all were good. They have a two-item purchase,(The consensus of our group, was that) we ordered drinks, very weak and not that good, and the food took 50 minutes after we ordered to get our food. The food was just ok, my suggestion Eat somewhere else and drink somewhere else. We should have ordered just an appetizer and a soft drink. In some ways, we were disappointed that we did not see a popular comic and they had so many comics, almost as if to say you'll Like at least one so come on down. Of all the years I worked at NBC, I never actually saw Jay (Leno) perform live outside of work! So I've always wanted to check out his standup & he is still Performing amazing 2-hour sets at the Comedy & Magic club on Sunday nights. It's like dinner theater! How does Jay remember alllllll that dialogue?! So impressive! I love how clever his stories are! Pro tip: DON'T eat there! The food is so bland and overpriced! Eat nearby by the pier then get there around an hour before to get good seats. You sit at tables but they're first come, first served. No pictures which is why we don't have any of the performers but we'd definitely go back! read more

This comedy club was a real vibe. I visited a comedy night with a couple friends and I'd say I wouldn't hesitate to go again. To start, there's plenty of metered parking around and the entryway to the club is disability friendly. From the bouncers to hosts and hostesses, the staff was very friendly. There are different comedians all the time and since I'm not a fan of vulgar humor, it was nice that a few of the comedians were funny while keeping it clean! On my 2nd time here I had a great experience again. I was seated at a table I liked and started the evening out with delicious minicrabcakes and angus beef sliders with fries. There were 10 amazing and hilarious comedians as advertised with no duds, which is not the rule at most comedy clubs I've been usually having to put up with at least a few dud comedians. My favorites on stage were Orion Levine and Chris Turner from the Uk who did a very funny and impressive improvised comedy rap using audience suggestions. I rode my bicycle(they even have a bike rack)there, so parking wasn't an issue and the location is easy to find and convenient. For the show, 2 food items and tip, I spent $80 which I consider a good deal for the quality and laughs on offer here. This is hands down the best comedy club in the Southbay. read more

Came here to see a comic on a Sunday night. The location is about a block away from the beach. The doors opened at 5pm, and I arrived about 20 minutes beforehand. There were a few spots of street parking, and they also had some of their own parking spots available. There was a small line of people waiting to enter. Once the door opened, we were promptly seated and shortly the servers started taking food orders. Food and drinks came quickly. I mean people had steaks and pork chops in about 5-7 minutes after ordering. That's how quickly people were served. I had the pork chops and they were very tender and toasty hot, it was easily sliced with a dull knife. I finished it off with a slice of chocolate cake, and it was very satisfyingly chocolate. My server was happy to answer any questions on foods and what to expect for the rest of the evening, while keeping my drink topped off. A majority of the audience started piling in about 20-30 minutes before the performance started. The service continued during the show, which was both nice and kind of annoying because they kept crossing in front of to interrupt the moment. If any complaints, the tables were small and seating was crowded. However, this place should be experienced at least once. Definitely recommend it. read more

I want to see Jay Leno on one of the Sunday nights he was there. I grew up in the area and have driven past the comedy and magic club. All my life, but never went in until my Sister wanted to go with my cousin and his wife and my mom and my wife. I didn't know what to expect but actually we had a very fun evening. I would say that the food was just OK and suggest eating at a restaurant or at home before going to the show. They do require a two item minimum so that could be two drinks or an appetizer in a drink, etc.. The only thing I dislike about it was everyone was sitting almost on top of each other, so it was kind of uncomfortable for that reason, but all in all it was a fun time I would suggest going if you find a comedian there that you like. read more

Go watch and enjoy a comedy show somewhere else! Avoid this place like the plague! This was the most traumatizing experience we have ever had. The hosts that take you to your table are very rude. The worst part is the manager is the rudest, most unreasonable manager we have ever encountered. My wife and I came here to watch our favorite comic tonight. We queued two hours before doors opened (4:15pm, doors opened: 6:15pm) -- under the sweltering heat of the sun. We were second in line. Since we were celebrating a special occasion, we had our parents with us (total of four people). When we got inside, the waiter told us that since we are two couples, there was absolutely no way we can sit on any of the tables in the front. When we asked why, the host said it's just the way it is. All the front tables except for one were vacant at this point. We obliged and said, okay we will not sit together, we can sit far away from each other. And then the manager came and threatened to throw us out if we sit anywhere in front even though we were technically second in the entire queue and was allowed to sit anywhere as it was explicitly stated in the ticket fine print that it was "first come, first serve". My wife was pleading, saying that this unspoken rule was not written anywhere in their ticket nor the fine print or on any sign in the venue for that matter. And the manager just rudely exclaimed, 'we have been doing this for 28 years and we have this unspoken rule and that's just how it is'. Then he just said that if we don't leave our preferred seats in front and sit somewhere else in the back, he would call the police on us. Imagine this threat being thrown at a comedy club? How ludicrous! On top of this, the tickets were non-refundable. It was so traumatizing. My wife and my mom were very upset. We have never been threatened with the police being called on us for a stupid "unspoken rule" that does not make sense at all. This will be the first and LAST time we will visit this place. Stay away! Watch and enjoy comedy somewhere else! Go to the IMPROV Bars where the servers and managers are friendly and service-oriented and where everyone just wants everyone to enjoy and have a good time! read more

It was Ian Bagg headlining tonight for another sold out show. I have been coming to The Comedy & Magic Club for years. It is a mainstay in the South Bay. Drinks have always been great but what a change in the food offerings. It's always been delicious but it went from "bar food" to fine dining. Food used to be served in plastic baskets with a paper liner and now it's real plates. What a night! Incredible lineup - we live close and go quite often. But last night - 5loved all of the comedians but especially Kristy McHugh and Ron Pearson. Very funny.... Came to see Paul Reiser and he was a hidden gem. Seeing someone in an ensemble show on TV doesn't show their true talent. Mr. Raiser's jokes, his delivery, timely, relatable material was spot on. Thoroughly enjoyed the show from beginning to end. The cost of the shows are very reasonable. Have always appreciated the Comedy & Magic Club for putting on an annual fundraiser for a young man who became quadriplegic thru a snowing accident . Not many businesses would do that! read more

Great spot to experience Hermosa. We came on a night that Craig Shumaker was there and while he was funny, he went a bit rogue and went too long which is why I took away a star. We loved the food and the ambiance. You don't get the same feel as this comedy club as you do in some of the newer spaces. My husband does some work for Jay Leno on occasion, and Jay was kind enough to call us in two VIP tickets for his show last Sunday night. We had a great time here. The people who work here are extremely friendly and professional. They have great people working at the door, and their servers are very organized, friendly and did a wonderful job taking care of all the customers. We had good food and great ambiance. The seats are arranged so there really is no bad seat in the house. The show started right at 7 and they had a really funny guy who did crowd work before Jay came on.
