I was generously gifted four tickets to The Comedy & Magic Club last week and we had a really great time! It had been several years since we last took in a show here and I'm not exactly sure why. Regular priced tickets are an affordable $27/each and there is a 2 drink or food purchase requirement per person but still, in this day and age, I think TCMC's prices are very reasonable for a fun evening out. Apps are $12-$18 and entrees are $20-$33. We shared the crispy brussel sprouts ($12) and calamari ($18) and they were very tasty. Cocktails are $13-$17; pretty decent considering being at the beach just off Pier Ave. in Hermosa. The show we saw was their '10 Comics' show and we enjoyed all of them. Some were funnier than others but overall, it was a great show. Service was great and the venue itself is great and both it and the crowd was unpretentious. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for a fun evening out!

What a fun thing to do! I was walking by here yesterday visiting another business and I saw it and stopped in and talked to someone in the office before they opened. I found out about the show last night and decided to go online and get a ticket and attend. Going myself and not knowing anybody else, I met two groups of people who I sat next to at a table on the second level and had a great view of the stage. I had a white claw mango to drink and it was delicious and followed that up with the Street Tacos special with chicken and it was amazingly good. The sauce that came with it was kicking! It was really hot but it made the tacos really tasty. The service and wait staff was fantastic. They took care of all of our needs and we're right on the ball. I wish I lived closer because I would love to come back here on a semi regular basis especially since Jay Leno appears every Sunday. This is a great venue, it's small enough that it is an intimate type of comedy, I didn't see any magic last night and I am a big fan of close magic shows, but the juggler was really nice and really great in addition to all of the comedians. I found out late last night after the show that one of the comedians will be on the cruise that I'm getting on today and he was very funny. Thanks again for everything last night, it was a great evening with great comedians who really made me laugh a lot, great food and great company. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice evening.

It has been years since I last went to The Comedy and Magic Club. My department at work used to go here for our annual department Christmas parties years back. Fast forward to this year, I got to check out The Comedy and Magic Club for a lovely Saturday dinner date night recently. It was first come, first serve in terms of seating and they don't have many tables for two. We basically had to share a table with another couple - which wasn't too bad as the pair was friendly and nice. When we arrived at the venue, we were asked for our IDs. To attend to show here, you have to be 18 or older. This night also happened to be the last show for their 47th birthday bash and so it was a sold out show. For the birthday show, they had 20 comics on stage. The comics had a range of different skits and jokes. Some more funny while some were a bit on the dark, not so politically correct side (to be expected). Food and drink wise , guests are obligated to get two items each (this is separate from the show tickets). We ended up getting the Apple and Gorgonzola Salad, Angus Chesseburger Sliders and some drinks. Both of the food items were perfect for splitting. I also got their Comedy Cooler which was like an adult version of the Cactus Cooler soda. Since this show was part of the Comedy and Magic Club's birthday extravaganza, they were handing complimentary cupcakes at the end. Overall The Comedy and Magic club is a good place for a Saturday night out. You get dinner, drinks and a show! (Bonus: it's so close to the pier and so it is perfect for a beach walk after.)

Well managed and maintained comedy venue. We visited on a Thursday evening for a rotating lineup of 9 comedians and they put on a fantastic show. The staff of the comedy and magic club were all very nice and attentive. The menu is one of the best that I have come across at a comedy club and although there is a two item minimum per person, the menu prices are reasonable. Wonderful place and I look forward to another visit.

Community comedy classic! 10 comics shows are my favorite. You often get comedy legends dropping and riling up the crowd in the best way. The desserts and burgers are delicious! Grab a drink, laugh and enjoy this vibrant venue that brings life to Hermosa Beach.

This was our 1st time at The Comedy & Magic Club. We were actually headed to the pier when we passed by and saw the sign with a few people headed in. We absolutely love stand up. So, "Let's do it", we said. Got lucky with metered parking less than a block away. The guy outside was friendly. Let us know the show had already started (8 min's in) and walked us to the office to purchase tickets YaY Once inside, it was a packed house but we had a table with a great view. Comedy line up was 10 comedians. We missed the 1st one for obvious reasons (late) and some of the next due to looking over menu and ordering. Our server greeted us and took our order. Husband had two 805s, I ordered a white peach margarita and we shared the trio slider sample, which came with fries. The food and drinks were good. Restroom was clean. Thank you CMC for providing laughter and good times. We absolutely recommend & look forward to going back again! All comics were funny. Especially enjoyed (in no particular order)... Brad Williams, Brian Kiley, Adam Hunter, James Davis, Bernadette Pauley. Keep on keeping on. Thank you for the laughs!

Great food, great ambience and vibes. This is my first time at the comedy and Magic club. I went for a fundraiser with our rotary club and it truly was amazing. The comics were super funny and the final act that did both comedy and magic shut the house down. It was awesome.

    1. The drinks and food were delicious! I really enjoy the sliders! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes since comedians and magicians are performing! 3. There are only indoor seatings! 4. The service staff were friendly and timely with order! 5. Street parking as well as parking structure are available! Note: There is a 2 menu item minimum per person for each event! Of all the years I worked at NBC, I never actually saw Jay (Leno) perform live outside of work! So I've always wanted to check out his standup & he is still Performing amazing 2-hour sets at the Comedy & Magic club on Sunday nights. It's like dinner theater! How does Jay remember alllllll that dialogue?! So impressive! I love how clever his stories are! Pro tip: DON'T eat there! The food is so bland and overpriced! Eat nearby by the pier then get there around an hour before to get good seats. You sit at tables but they're first come, first served. No pictures which is why we don't have any of the performers but we'd definitely go back!

On my 2nd time here I had a great experience again. I was seated at a table I liked and started the evening out with delicious minicrabcakes and angus beef sliders with fries. There were 10 amazing and hilarious comedians as advertised with no duds, which is not the rule at most comedy clubs I've been usually having to put up with at least a few dud comedians. My favorites on stage were Orion Levine and Chris Turner from the Uk who did a very funny and impressive improvised comedy rap using audience suggestions. I rode my bicycle(they even have a bike rack)there, so parking wasn't an issue and the location is easy to find and convenient. For the show, 2 food items and tip, I spent $80 which I consider a good deal for the quality and laughs on offer here. This is hands down the best comedy club in the Southbay.

Came here to see a comic on a Sunday night. The location is about a block away from the beach. The doors opened at 5pm, and I arrived about 20 minutes beforehand. There were a few spots of street parking, and they also had some of their own parking spots available. There was a small line of people waiting to enter. Once the door opened, we were promptly seated and shortly the servers started taking food orders. Food and drinks came quickly. I mean people had steaks and pork chops in about 5-7 minutes after ordering. That's how quickly people were served. I had the pork chops and they were very tender and toasty hot, it was easily sliced with a dull knife. I finished it off with a slice of chocolate cake, and it was very satisfyingly chocolate. My server was happy to answer any questions on foods and what to expect for the rest of the evening, while keeping my drink topped off. A majority of the audience started piling in about 20-30 minutes before the performance started. The service continued during the show, which was both nice and kind of annoying because they kept crossing in front of to interrupt the moment. If any complaints, the tables were small and seating was crowded. However, this place should be experienced at least once. Definitely recommend it.

My husband and I were looking for a fun date night in the area while we were visiting. The comedians were ok with 2 rather funny (I'm sure this depends on the line up), the magician at the end was odd. The food is not the best - don't waste money on a steak (asked for medium and it was well done)... go for the bar food. The cocktails and soft pretzel were great.

    Waiting for Jay!

Ask the Community - The Comedy & Magic Club

It's telling me to print the tickets at home I don't own a printer can I still just show my email confirmation?

Yes, that is not a problem. I was traveling and didn't have access to a printer.

Do they still send the birthday tickets where you just need a 2 drink minimum?

At this time we are not doing Birthday Tickets. We have a TWO-ITEM minimum (food and/or drink)

Can you walk up and buy a ticket right before the show or should you buy online ahead of time? Does it sell out on Saturday nights?

I would order tickets ahead of time because they do get sold out.

Is this place still open? The website link is broken.

For the 10 comics show Sunday at 7pm, how early should I arrive to have a very good seat? Trying to do an early dinner in MB beforehand.

I always arrive at least 60 minutes ahead of showtime.

    When are the magic shows?

They sometimes have a magician as one of the acts before the main comic. But check their website for listing of acts.

If I have dinner elsewhere and arrive about 7:45 will I get a decent seat?

You will most likely be seated in the back. But it is not a huge venue so you will not have a problem seeing the performers. By the way, the food at the Comedy and Magic Club is very good and not overpriced.

What time does the 630 show in Sat end?

Dinner is 6:30-8. Doors open at 6. Showtime is 8~9:30.

Does this place have an open mic night?

According to their online calendar it appears no, but I would call to confirm.

Review #957 2026-021…read more Fantasia Family Music: Director: Susan Brown Technical Director: Evan Brown Parking: free public lot (enter from 11th Pl., lot is on right past Alano Club & Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library) My son's saber fencing buddy, AK, invited us to see his 1st performance with Fantasia Family Music as the "March Hare" (Act 2, Scene 7: Mad Tea Party) at the Hermosa Beach Community Theatre. He's been in other performances elsewhere. His dad is a musician, so maybe that's an inspiration for his creative arts passion? We arrived early, but wasn't aware of the free lot in the back (though it was likely full for the performance or taken up by tennis players) until after the show. We spent the next 20-mins. circling around & around, hoping someone would leave a street parking spot. We finally found a free spot on 9th St. off Ardmore Ave., by the time we arrived, we missed 15-mins. of the show. Aaaugh! We didn't have the playbill so I wasn't sure if we missed his friend's initial queue (luckily he wasn't on until after intermission). It was quite obvious after a few minutes that the kids' performance caliber was top notch!! I just wished we would have made it on time to watch the opening curtain/beginning! \(`0´)/ It was only $20/ticket, that I wouldn't mind a repeat but this was the last show. I'm somewhat familiar with the story, but it's been decades since I read the book. All the scenes were marvelous (though we missed the Prologue & Scene 1 so can't comment on that), but the Mad Tea Party's Unbirthday & I'm Late reprise (Scene 7... yeah, I'm biased because of our friend), Seeing Red's Painting the Roses Red & Simon Says (Scene 8; "Simon Says" replaced the croquet tournament story in the book) were standout scenes. I particularly loved the Cheshire Cat 1; she really hammed it & made it her own IMO. I found out after the show that she's a fellow student at HES with my son, & also discovered his 4th grade classmate was in the play as the King of Hearts. We sat in the back & couldn't see (their faces) very well. Fantasia Family Music really put on a fantabulous production! They're South Bay's original student led performing arts organization that's nonprofit & dedicated to youth theater. I loved that they're inclusive of all who are interested in the creative arts regardless of skill level or prior experience. If there were newbies with the "bug" to perform, it wasn't noticeable because every performer were immersed in his/her role. Several performer parents played a part in the theatre crew as backstage crew & make-up assistants to help ensure success. Hermosa Beach Community Theatre is 502-seat theater that's located east of the Hermosa Beach Community Center, often used by youth musical theatre groups, dance productions, & other variety shows for local residents to experience the joys of cultural arts. It has a spacious stage to hold a large number of performers, box office, decent lobby area (hang out with the performers after the show), & restrooms (around the corner of the box office). There's a couple of stalls & sinks in the women's restroom so hold the liquids, especially if it's a packed house! According to other reviewers, there's a concession stand (wasn't available for this play); I'm assuming you can eat & drink in the lobby, or just outside of the theater during intermission. The City of Hermosa Beach/Community Theatre has a Monthly Calendar (https://www.hermosabeach.gov/our-government/recreation-community-resources/community-theatre) to see what's current for that month. I didn't grow up going to the theatre or had any interest in "acting"performing (though I did sing 3 years as a soprano in chorus & played the violin in orchestra in elementary school, earning 1st chair in a few performances). But I love the Hermosa Beach Community Theatre for their affordable tickets to local, nonprofit, & youth-focused productions! Curiouser & curiouser... I would definitely come back again! Wouldn't you?

If you are looking for a restaurant with a large menu, you will be disappointed. Sure, portions of La La Land were filmed here, and they have some movie memorabilia in the back of the place but they offer far more than jazz here, if that is your impression. There is rock, reggae, salsa, lots of tribute bands, and other stuff. While this may have once been purely a jazz club, I am certain the market simply won't carry (most) strictly jazz places for very long. Based on one photo I saw on the wall, this place has been around for about 76 years. That is impressive. For jazz aficionados, they offer a three hour Sunday jazz brunch (and this is the only time when folks under 21 can enter, by the way). For brunch, there are only four food items available on the menu: a breakfast burrito, avocado toast, one pancake (singular, not plural) and bacon, sausage, and eggs. Remember, you are here for the music, not the food. As for the food, my breakfast burrito was interesting. Knowing restaurants in California, it was probably cooked by a Latino gentleman but this looked like th emost Caucasian burrito of all time. It had chorizo, eggs, potatoes, and other stuff in it, and the tortilla had a nice cheesy skirt on it. It was also on the spicier side, which I enjoyed, but fair warning. I wasn't sure I was going to like it by its looks but I ate the whole thing. It was also a belly bomb and kept me satisfied for about 6 or 7 hours afterward. The avocado toast was actually very good and made with good quality bread. I thought the music was excellent. The members of the band (the John Kithcart Quartert) played their assess off and really seemed to enjoy themselves. True jazz (not that soft elevator music gunk) was popular at one time but let's face it, it is not popular anymore. Jazz certainly can be enjoyed as background music while you enjoy your one pancake but it is certainly not intended to be enjoyed that way. To fully appreciate it, you have to pay attention to it. That doesn't seem too much of an ask. After all, it is the folks on the stage who are doing the hard work. Our server was very good. She was friendly and attentive. My only experience here is with the Sunday jazz brunch so I cannot speak for the venue at any other times. At least for the Sunday brunch, whether you like jazz or not, this place is well worth a try.

It really is one of those classic South Bay events that feels like the unofficial kickoff to summer. The entire downtown area of Hermosa Beach turns into a huge street fair with live music, food, drinks, carnival rides, artists, and hundreds of vendors spread throughout the closed streets. There were families everywhere, groups of friends hanging out in the beer garden, people walking around with dogs, and just a really fun community vibe overall. Pine Mountain Logs were great live and the Garden area had a relaxed energy with music going most of the afternoon. The vendor mix was exactly what you would expect from a big festival like this. Some really cool local makers and artists mixed in with a little random street fair chaos, which honestly is part of the charm. You can grab food from local Hermosa spots or festival booths, stop for a drink, wander the Makers Mercado, listen to music at different stages, or just people-watch for a few hours.
