This local chain has restaurants all over the state! It was recommended by our host as well as TA. It was packed when we arrived so we opted to eat at the upstairs bar. The service was great and the food was perfect comfort fare. I ordered two autumn specials a fall salad with feta and sweet pumpkin seeds and the pumpkin ravioli. My friend had the Cobb salad with grilled chicken and a fall drink. All were delicious!

Apple walnut chicken

We arrived a little late for dinner but they were super accommodating. The decorations are very farm style and cute. There is a free cheese and crackers table. Arancini super crispy outside cheesy inside Bacon wrapped shrimp - tender and came with a side of cornbread Apple walnut chicken - chicken is slightly dry but the sweet walnut sauce is amazing Steak tips - tender but fully cooked when we request medium rare Lobster corn chowder - too salty for me but creamy

Sweet Corn Bacon Ravioli

This was our second attempt to come here as it was too busy last time. The service was very good and the staff friendly. With respect to the food, it had excellent flavor. From the lobster corn chowder to the pot pie to the sweet corn bacon raviolis, they all tasted great. The only issue we had and what kept this from 5 stars was the temperature of the food. The Arancini balls tasted great, but were ice cold in the center. They did take them back and returned them fully cooked. But after we left my wife told me that her raviolis were also cold in the middle, but she didn't want to be "one of those people" and complain a second time. All in all, we would definitely go back and try other things.

Burrata with ahi

My boyfriend and I came on a Saturday for a birthday lunch for his dad. It was quite busy with a full parking lot by 12:30, but you can drive down the dead end road to loop around and park in their overflow parking. There was an hour wait so we walked upstairs to the bar and managed to find seating at a high top. Since it was his dad's birthday, we ordered his very first filet mignon, medium rare, but it came out well done. My boyfriend's steak tips were nice and juicy. My burrata salad had flavorful veggies and peaches, but overall it was a bit lackluster. I also got the ahi on the side, but it wasn't anything to write home about. We all got the lobster corn chowder to start, which was good with tender lobster pieces, but the chowder was heavy on the butter and salt, and I wish the cornbread wasn't so bite-sized.

Baked scallops

Had an early dinner with family. The common man is always great for comfort food. We ordered the muscles as an appetizer they were plump and juicy and full of flavor. For dinner, we had two chicken pot pies, one pot roast, and baked scallops with a side order of mac & cheese. All the food was very good and as always was a nice portion. Amelia was our lovely server, very attentive and helpful, yet she didn't hang over the table. We ordered two desserts that were very large and tasted amazing. I've been going to Common Man's for more than 40 years, still haven't had a bad meal.

As a bonus, the tofu center is still cold so you can really get complete unpleasantness with every bite. And, rather than having to spend a bunch of time waiting for your noodles to clump together as they congeal, they serve them already clumped so you get the opportunity to eat your noodle in brick form. Ya'll - I know it's New Hampshire, but let's at least put in some effort.

Now it is one of those downtown Concord places I circle back to whenever I am craving something brothy and comforting that still has some personality. Most visits revolve around noodle soups, and I have worked my way through a good chunk of the menu. The spicy miso ramen has a deep heat that builds instead of hitting you all at once, and the shoyu ramen is clean and savory in a way that makes you keep sipping the broth even when you are full. The Bubba pho and veggie pho are both solid, generous bowls, and the Korean noodle soup that started as a special clearly earned its permanent spot. Even the Japanese curry soup, which I expected to be heavier, if I had to nitpick I wish it had more curry flavor. My favorite order though is the spicy tantan, with a tweak. Sub the ground chicken for the soy glazed chicken. It adds texture and a little sweetness that really works with the spice. Service is friendly without hovering, and the pacing is usually spot on even when they are busy. The space itself is small, but I rarely struggle to get a table, and the bar seating is a nice option if you are solo. Portions are filling, prices feel fair, and I always leave thinking about what I will order next time.

I knew that there wermany other things on the menu, but I'll come back for this again and again. Two of us had the coconut curry soup and literally had to lick the bowl to make sure we du DMP t miss one drop of this. The other in our party had the salad And enjoyed it completely. The two others had the scallops and were very impressed. One of our party has a tomato allergy and they were careful not to have it on the dish. Then came dessert time. I called ahead to make sure they had carrot cake because i had read great reviews on it. It certainly lived up to those reviews. One of our guests was too full for dessert, but managed to get a spoonful of both of ours. My friend had the Boston Crean tart, and we all declared this a winner also. They were very accommodating as I had booked for four and had to call them before we came in person's plane was delayed. When I asked, because of the reviews I had read, if they would have carrot cake that evening, and the gentleman said as long as I'm here we will always have carrot cake. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a delicious, well prepared and well presented meal that is as fresh as can be. The service is wonderful and we will be back.

Banana/strawberry and holy shit it was incredible!!! I. LOVED. IT!!! Damn it was good. I think it was like $12 tho? Am I crazy to think...meh, it's ok, (the price) I was on a holiday and you are supposed to enjoy whatever? haha!! I would normally never spend that much on a freaking smoothie! HOWEVER! Once we got into Manchester, VT....we saw another The Works Bakery...I SHO DID get another one lol. I was surprised to see that this place is a chain. When we were in Concord...it kind of felt like this was a place exclusive to Concord. Nah, it's not. Thats ok tho. I got a smoothie at a coffee house in just outside Bar Harbor and it was absolute garbage. So it was nice to have one where they actually have you what you ordered. Most places in Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire all allow dogs. I travel with my little Yorkie wherever I go. Alfred loves to travel haha! He is my child...seeing as I do not have any human kids. My dog is my life. So it's nice when you go into places and they welcome dogs. This place....does not tho. Thats boooo! HOWEVER! I TOTALLY understand! I TRULY do! I travel with my dog everywhere, but yes, I do realize this place is a restaurant and they all have their rules. I just love restaurants that allow dogs haha! I am not one of those psychos that will tear a place apart about not allowing dogs. I am one who actually respects policies like this. And yes, I bring my dog with me bc it's just me...and my dog. He is a 6lb Yorkie who I will never leave alone nor would I ever kennel him. I say all this bc so many people out there judge others who bring their dogs everywhere. He is a family member. He comes with me. Just go to this place wherever you run into one. It really is a great place. They were all SO nice in there even when they asked my take Alfie back outside. OH for the record too...I carry my little man everywhere with me. He's not like...running around everywhere...marking his territory lol Atmosphere in this location is very nice. Kinda dark and Lodgy feeling. Its nice. Located too in what I am assuming is a historic building. Noce view of the downtown area too if you take you lunch or whatever outside to their outdoor seating...which I am guessing is probably brought in now...seeing as it is almost December. Ok thats it. I know I rambled a lot here, but I feel it all fits with my review. I ramble a lot to begin with. If you read this...thank you! If you didn't...I will sleep in 5 mins and sleep like a baby :) Thank you The Works for a wonderful first experience. I live in Idaho. Wish we had you here. Thanks for reading YelperWorkers! Wonderful little lunch stop!…read more It was full of locals and regulars and on a wait for lunch. At that moment I knew I had picked a good spot! We chilled with the folks up front for a good bit before getting a table. It seemed we were the only people that had not been here 30-40 times before. Most people didn't even want menus and the sweet server ladies just brought them food without conversation at all. It's kind of old school feeling inside. It's an open kitchen and you can see all of the action. Inside is all wooden and rustic. It reminds me of my grandmas house in Camden TN. Not sure why. It's just really comfortable in here to me. The tile and fireplaces make super cozy. This place has some of the best chili that I have had in a long time. I dig the fact they give tortilla shops automatically with the chili. Win!! Thick and meaty and oh so filled with spice and love!! Cheese on top was a nice touch too. Really liked it! My French dip was fucking killer!! So damn big too! I could only eat half of it because of the the fire ass chili I had already eaten. French fries were battered type. Nothing wrong with that!! I drove around with this sandwich for two days of travel and ate it on the road later. Stupendous French dip!! C had an open faced roast beef sandwich. FIRE!! The green beans were so pretty and fresh too. She could barely get 1/3 down, lol. It was a ton of food. Economical! Hometown feel! Good people working and eating here! I love it!!
