Way over priced. Food was mediocre. Pork chop dry and salmon tasteless. Bright spot was the waitress was great.

Keith, our server, was attentive from the very beginning. He has a great personality that all servers should have. We had the beef special and the corn bread for appetizers, which were both really good! We ordered the swordfish and the Naragansett fluke as our entrees. They were divine. The sauce they used for the fluke was creamy but light. The black rice went really well with the swordfish that I feel like you cannot enjoy the meal without it.

The view is superb, setting genteel, and the breeze is a rescue in the summer. Of all, though, the excellent staff were effortlessly gracious and courteous without even drifting toward obsequious or performative. How have these elements of service been lost in these days of QR codes, devices shoved into one's face to process payment and extract a tip for pivoting, gum smacking, and snarky t-shirts? I am typing this review a couple of days after dining there and the prevailing, smile invoking, memory is of the staff. Surely this is place for similar venues to benchmark and for patrons to relax into. The Lawn Terrace is a sovereign remedy for a harried time.

We started off with drinks --gin dirty martini and a classic old fashion, both were perfectly made and crisp. Food: Appetizer-warm bread with butter was a nice starter. However I wish we got the escargot with bone marrow as we watched it being made it looked and smelled delicious. Entrees- we split a 27 oz ribeye and the scallops. The steak was a beautiful cut of meat, well marbled, cooked to perfection and seared so nicely. It was sooo tasty and seared with Malden salt. We are pretty snobby when it comes to steak and this was probably the best steak I've ever had out at a restaurant. The scallops similarly were cooked and seared perfectly and seasoned correctly. Laid on a bed of watercress and potato fondant it was the perfect delicate bite and contrasted nicely with the steak. We got the side of brussel sprouts with peanut Rayu which was a beautiful flavor bomb. I can't say enough about the food. Every single thing we ordered was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I find that to be a rarity in today's restaurant scene. I could not recommend this place more. We really enjoyed it and this will be used as a comparison to every restaurant I go to going forward. 6/5 stars! Come here

We started with the Caesar salad which was pretty good. We also ordered the bread and butter which was underwhelming for something so simple. For our main course, we had the bone-in ribeye steak. Unfortunately, the steak was chewy which was disappointing, especially for the price. The brown butter sauce was delicious and definitely helped. The restaurant itself is very cute inside. We were hoping to get seats at the bar so we could watch the chefs in action, but even though we ended up at a table, the atmosphere was still enjoyable.

It was great to eat in such a historic place. It felt like you are sitting in history, which you are! But I mean like making your own little mark. The food was fine. I loved the clam chowder that was my favorite. I got a seasonal steak with sea salt I thought it was just ok. My partner loved his beef wellington, I thought it had a sweet flavor I didnt care for. We also had a really good wine. The service was great very attentive without being overbearing and we had a great view out the window. Definitely recommend this place just for the history alone.

Not too much flavor, but I loved the addition of the prosciutto to the beef. The lobster bisque was just ok as well, tasted too much of just cream. The star of the dinner was the beef tartare, surprisingly. It was extremely flavorful, with all sorts of spices mixed into the beef, notably capers and cornichons. Delicious and served with amazing homemade potato chips. Service was good and dress code was more relaxed than I had imagined, so that was nice as well. Bread pudding and Tavern Candy Bar are delightful dessert options as well.

We lucked into a last-minute Saturday reservation for four in the upstairs deck room, and the atmosphere was moody, romantic, and perfect for a nice night out. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the portion sizes were much larger than we expected--we definitely could have ordered less and still left completely satisfied. What really stood out, though, was the service. Everyone we interacted with was warm, authentic, and genuinely helpful, making the whole experience feel welcoming without being over-the-top. Between the incredible food, beautiful waterfront views, and fantastic service, this is a must-visit steakhouse in Newport. We'd happily come back the next time we're in town.

We all got soups to start with: french onion soups and chowder. Gotta say, it was one of the best French onion soups I've had. Even the chowder was up there! Entrees were: filet mignon, salmon, 2 lb stuffed lobster, wedge salad with scallops, and pastrami sandwich...with a side of truffle fries and Mac N Cheese. My scallops were juicy and cooked perfectly with the perfect seasoning. I'm still thinking about them to this day. The 2lb stuffed lobster was literally stuffed with huge pieces of scallops and big shrimp! The side of Mac N Cheese can feed a family of four alone. I didn't try the other foods bc I was too busy enjoying mine and trying to finish it. Oh! Forgot we also shared the wagyu tartare which had great flavor but kinda chewy. Maybe the pieces should be diced smaller. We're already thinking about making plans to go back this week and Father's Day was just last Sunday. I'm so glad this is part of NRG bc we can redeem our rewards there! :)
