I love the container store in general but I will continue coming back to this location specifically for one of their employees named Laci. She has helped my boyfriend and I on two separate occasions (when we came back the second time a few weeks later she remembered us and the items we purchased the first time). Laci is incredibly knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. We're getting our house ready for a newborn and while we're overwhelmed and feeling lost it's nice to have a reliable (and super sweet) person helping us get the best items. Enter at your own risk. This is one of those stores like Target where you walk in needing one thing and leave with 20 other things you convince yourself you need. I've tried their order online pick-up at the store feature twice now. The only issue I have with this is that you have to wait in line to then get a cashier to notify the back that you are there. So if there is a long line, then you've kind of defeated the purpose of ordering online/picking up in the store in the first place. It would be nice if they had a kiosk or something you could check into so you don't need to wait in line or a dedicated place to pick-up online orders. One of their best deals are their Christmas ornament storage box and their artificial Christmas tree storage box. These are things just not really available on Amazon. read more

I ordered an elfa closet system. The Container Store person who did the official measurement did not measure correctly, so several of the materials sent (which I paid for some time ago) were not usable. Their efforts to redesign were extremely lame, but I managed to figure out a workable design myself that used many of the items, and had it installed 6 weeks ago. Since then I have been trying to return the unused items (still in boxes) and get a refund of several hundred dollars owed me. Initially I was willing to wait since they were in the process of adjusting to the shutdown. But now, SIX WEEKS later, my repeated attempts to contact them by phone (no one ever answers) and by email (no response to my email) have been fruitless. I am (very inconveniently) storing the unusable items and am willing to provide gloves to handle them (although they are still in unopened boxes and have been untouched for six weeks, so I don't see how they can be contaminated), but cannot even get in touch with anyone. Before I ordered I checked with a friend who had recently installed an elfa system and she reported that she also had had trouble with the store, although she eventually did get them to do what they said they would. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!!! THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR SERVICE, EVEN WHEN IT IS ENTIRELY THEIR MISTAKE!!! read more

I've never been in a Container Store before but I was just looking on their website for a way to organize my tupperware drawer last week so while in Austin visiting a friend, and seeing this place like two blocks from the hotel, I had to stop in. It was neat and tidy with clear layouts for different spaces like laundry, kitchen, closets, office, etc. I saw some cool items that might be useful but I didn't see anything I couldn't live without... I didn't find exactly what I was looking for either though I've seen some things like it on Pinterest so I suppose I'll stick with that. read more

Like most of the other reviewers, I've found that the customer service and management has got terribly down hill. Sales associates here used to be the gold standard in terms of knowledge and helpfulness. Now they act as if they resent being asked for advice, and just tell you to go home and take measurements (this was in response to a question in which I provided specific measurements) and look around the store yourself. I've had similar issues on every visit in the last couple of years. Not to mention the totally crazed long lines. The corporate end of things isn't working so well either. I know that covid has made all of our lives challenging but I have a very late order and have received no notification of its status. Unlike most companies there is no provision for order tracking in My Account. When I try to call the toll free line I have been repeatedly disconnected. The chat function is not working. I am beginning to wonder if they are still in business. read more

Just wanted to say, I think it's really great that such a large and massively successful company gives its employees time off on Sunday evening starting at 6 PM to spend time with their family and friends to really embrace and enjoy their individual lives. You know, tonight at dinner, we're talking about how great it might be we could just toss it over to the container store and get us some of that good stuff. Just moved into a new apartment, this silverware drawer is huge, what's going on!? Oh man this pantry, it's jacked, there's no hope. Wait! It had everything I needed (and didn't need!) and it was clean. Lots of construction going on outside but that is hardly their fault. Staff were nowhere to be found on the floor when it was pretty slow. The cashier seemed like he was ready to leave for the day when I got to the front. Also - the line system was odd. The Container Store has a been my go-to place for shoe boxes, boot boxes, pants hangers and skirt hangers for years. They also offer a great selection of items to promote an organized kitchen and household. Not to mention they have the best wrapping paper in town. read more

The container store is a story on it's own. I first went to one in San Antonio and took quite some time to check it out. Now here in Austin I needed some containers as well and this store came to my mind. I didn't need any assistance as I already knew what I was getting but even at the register the woman was very nice. I can only imagine that the other ones are as nice as she is as in general you have an overall nice customer service or a overall bad customer service. So this one was a nice one and I found more or less everything I was looking for. More or less as I am still looking for one more size of air thigh boxes but they didn't had it in the size I was looking for. But I got three out of four, so this isn't bad at all. read more

Believe it or not, I had never been into a Container Store until about two weeks ago. Although this may be a chain all over the country, there are not any in Salt Lake.... I had never been. I was really excited about finally getting to go to this store..... but it didn't stick. This place is OVER PRICED, and to top it off their products are crappy. Curbside pickup is a mess. You can either go inside and wait or hope someone comes out to your car. I scheduled an appointment a week in advance to pick-up my item and it took 45 minutes and talking to several people to finally get my order. Would've ordered it online but saw people complaining about the month+ wait items are getting out. They need more assistance/help at this store. One woman was doing all the curbside orders and everyone was lining up waiting and frustrated. Only reason I'm giving this two stars is because they helped me put my item in my car. The container store shows me what I could be if only I was either: a. A different, more organized person b. Just wealthy enough to be able to dedicate a large amount of disposable income toward storage and organization supplies. But I don't hate it for that... I love to wander the aisles and imagine how much better my life would be if The Container Store would come to my (currently hypothetical because I'm living with my parents) home and organize the hell out of it with their elfa shelves, and lego bins, and plastic storage bins, and colorful file folders and omg... just all of it. And every now and then, I pick a little something up that I can manage on my own, like, most recently, a laundry hamper, a Tupperware style filing cabinet, and colorful hanging file folders to help organize all the goddamn paperwork that comes with moving and getting set up in a new place. I got all that plus a few other gadgets for like $80. Not bad, Container Store. You can go here if you're already an awesomely organized person (you'll probably know exactly what to buy and what to do with it). if you're not and need ideas, or if you're not and probably will never be (you'll want to buy everything, and it's secretly a blessing that you probably can't, 'cause it'll just pile up in your house and then instead of being organized, you'll be on an episode of hoarders and they'll find cat skeletons in all those Tupperware filing cabinets). read more

We bought an Elfa system and had the Container Store install it. It was simple and easy, and we love the system. Our closest is so much more manageable now and so much nicer to look at. I love this store for that reason alone. They also have tons of other crap all over the store that could be very helpful depending on your needs. We got some stackable plastic shelves for the kid's playroom, and we also bought some floating shelves for the game room (which were easy to install once I figured it out). The helped get crap off the floor and into homes that make sense. I guess what I am trying to say is: If you are trying to get organized, this place probably has something that will make your life easier. It's pretty legit. read more

I wanted 3 silver mesh media storage bins. Though they were 12 on their website, they do not deliver. I could buy it at the store but could not get curbside pickup for 8 days from the date I paid for it. They don't have same day curbside service. So I went to the store. I found one bin and then spent 10 minutes looking for a store associate. When I found an associate and asked about two more bins, he said everything was out. When I said the website showed there were 12 in stock, he said that the website was wrong in a snarky manner. I thanked him not feeling like he helped. He seemed to remember that the extra bins were stored at the top of some shelves that I couldn't reach. Without apologizing he gave me the two bins I needed. Then I had to wait in line for 25 minutes. If you are having a Storage Sale and an Elfa Sale, you'd think they'd have enough staff on hand. They have eight registers but only two were manned. Rude. Overpriced. Disorganized. Note to Container Store management: if you complain that Amazon is stealing your customers, you're right. They steal them with great service, home delivery, a great rewards program, reasonable prices and friendly people. read more

The Container Store (TCS) is to someone in their 30's, to what Target is to someone in their 20's--a place where you can blow a hundred dollars on things you *really need* in no time. At least at TCS you leave with a sense of purpose--you're going to go home, organize stuff, and finally get your life together, right? Maybe not, but who cares because I love all the little gadgets they have, I love all of their gift packaging items, I love their closet storage/organizational tools, I love their office stuff. I*love*all*of*it. Prices are fairly reasonable, and I like that they oftentimes have variations of the same item--so you can get a cheaper version or a nicer version. Also, prices are always clearly displayed, so it's not confusing or intimidating to shop there. And the staff on the floor is always really helpful (unless they are seasonal workers, and therefore, clueless). My problem with TCS is that on weekends, the check-out lines are insane. Also, I've waited 20 minutes to pick up an order I made online which is also insane. Money saving tip: TCS has a lot of great items that you can't find anywhere else, but they also stock some items you can get other places, i.e. Bed, Bath & Beyond (BB&B). TCS doesn't run a lot of promotional discounts or sales, so if BB&B sells the same item (esp. if that item is $$$), you might be better off getting it from BB&B using one of their 20% off coupons that they regularly send in the mail. read more

I just don't want to do it. The Elfa designers made things easy and as inexpensive as possible for me. First of all if you can't laugh think of about 20 organization jokes while in the container store you just aren't trying hard enough. While walking around I lost my girlfriend. In The Container Store! Do you seriously not see the irony in that? We bought a couple of closet organizers and they went up easily and look good. So if you want the coolest closet ever... talk to the folks at the Container Store and they will design it for you. It may cost you your firstborn, but it's totally worth it. I bit the bullet years ago and just add the cool accessories now and then. Two hundred plus pairs of shoes??? I have my Elfa Goddess Shoe Wall. You should, too! They have other cool stuff here, too (for the organizing addicts). But the Elfa is the best. They have their annual Elfa sale starting right before Christmas through Feb ??. They also have some shelving components sales at other times of the year if you miss the big Elfa sale. And it's super easy to install...even a girlie girl can do it...all by herself. read more

The product selection is outstanding. The employees are very helpful and friendly. However, management is utterly clueless when it comes to opening up more checkout registers when the lines at the existing registers are several customers deep. I have experienced this same situation multiple times with no one stepping up to open a new register. Just this morning there was only one register open and the line was eleven customers deep. To top it off, at this same time, there were at least two employees rearranging displays and re-stocking shelves. This activity should be done when the store is closed to customers or not busy. It seems like an easy fix, yet no one in management appears to have figured it out. read more

A store for things to put other things in. Genius. Ok, I'll be honest, I don't frequent this place because it is on the pricey side of storage... however, it is well-made storage. I went in for one thing- a pet food container- and also came out with some nice BPA-free lunch organizers. The staff seemed friendly and helpful. Just listening to some of them helping other people was kind of interesting. It wasn't like, "Oh? You want X? Aisle 7." Everywhere I went, employees were helping out people with very specific criteria, showing them all the options the store could offer. Even though the store was fairly crowded, there also seemed to be a good employee/customer ratio. They have a wide variety of bins, boxes, shelves, baggies, hangers, etc. If you're looking for something that is pretty good quality and you want more options than what's offered at a big box store, this is a decent place to go. The parking stinks a bit on the weekends. It was "getting real" in The Conatiner Store Parking Lot while I was trying to find a spot. read more

I am a regular customer of container store. I love their storage solutions and other products , having had 4 closets installed with container store products and their installer partner. However a recent order that has been mishandled has me wondering if I could've been better off using storage solutions from a different store. I placed an order for desk area that a container store designer had designed for us using the elfa system. I had also paid for an installer for this order. Many items in the order were back ordered , not surprisingly. But container store called me to pick up the order and go ahead with the install which was already scheduled for later that week. However when the installer came , he mentioned that more than half of the items weren't there & that I would have to pick up the rest of the order and set up another install date to complete the install. And here I am , with a half built desk in a nook waiting for someone /anyone from container store to return my call. And explain to me what was the point in asking a customer to go ahead with installing a third of a system, when I was perfectly fine to wait for the entire order to come through. I understand every single business has been impacted by the supply chain shortages and back orders but you could've handled this simple order a lot better. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. I went into this store because I need a solution for my walk-in closet. They were currently having a sale on Elfa, and I've been keeping my eye out for deals. I went in at a very slow time during the day. I was walking around the Elfa section with no fewer than 3 sales people in the area. Not one of then asked if I needed help. Maybe it's because I'm male or maybe because I'm Hispanic. A woman came in after me, and one of those salespeople asked her if she needed help, right in front of me! I started to approach the saleswoman, and she took one look at me, turned, and walked the other way. I walked around the same area for over 15 minutes. I went looking in other sections for other items I thought I needed, and again no help. I saw what another post mentioned: scattered products everywhere on the floors. For a store that sells storage and organization solutions, ironically the store itself is anything but. I'm done with this store. read more

I want to thank the sales clerk at this store, I bought 8 plastic boxes and got home with 7. Then I went back the next day and told the clerk I must have missed counted. The clerk was so sweet about it and told me to take the box no charge. I told her I had no proof I had paid for 8 and took home 7. She said 'that is fine, I believe you.' That was so kind. The customer service at this store is amazing. I love not only the products but the people. I have never walked in this store without being greeted, and every person I have encountered on multiple trips has treated me like a HUMAN BEING. Some people comment saying the store is expensive. I disagree. I have NEVER spent more than $10-$15 on my whole basket than I would on Amazon --- and I pay for an annual membership at Amazon, so I think it balances out well enough! Also, the customer service-- THE CUSTOMER SERVICE, YOU PEOPLE! I have been brought baskets to carry my stuff. I have been brought options to compare with items I'm considering. And last but not least, I had one (ONE!) faulty product purchase. My soap pump gave up after just a few months. I shut down my own retail store early to dash over to the container store, and Sylvia the manager was so responsive and helpful. She found the dispenser in question and solved my problem. Zero hassle. Zero questions. Zero hurdles. Immediate solution -- I'm sure it will be a piece of paperwork for her or an explanation, but she is the reason I will be returning. THANK YOU SYLVIA. Thank you so much! Also, shout out to cashier man whose name I did not catch. He's a full time teacher (5th grade-- testing year! Yikes!) and was so kind and gracious while I apologized for being "THAT" retail customer who showed up with a problem. He complimented me and assured me that Sylvia is wonderful and would certainly help me. And she did. She really did. Sylvia, if you ever read this, you made my entire week. I had heard of The Container Store, but had never been to one before visiting this location. I just moved into an old house with NO closet space. The container store got me hooked up with shoe racks, under the bed storage containers and some tiny containers for my beads. If you can't find the storage container you need here, then it probably doesn't exist. I kid you not, they had an entire isle of shoe storage contraptions. read more

Terrible check out experience at North Austin Container Store. First only 2 cashiers were working. They were both working with 1 customer, including knocking their items out of their cart and onto the floor, and allowing the line to build up. When I asked for another cashier to be called, one said she would check me out, but then she could not get any registers to boot. So, she said, "All the registers are pending" and did nothing. I then asked if she would call their IT department. (Duh!) At that point a third worker finally came up and said she would call their IT department. The cashiers were clearly under trained, not customer service oriented, and out of their depth. Don't know if I will ever shop there again. read more

This is a large scale national chain so you probably know what you're getting. It gets busy on the weekends and the prices on some items seem a little steep (if you compare to Ikea/Walmart), but they have mostly fair pricing and some good sales as well. The 5 stars in this review are really for a super nice sales clerk named Ken. He helped out immensely last time I was in the store! He was assisting the person I was with, and he was SO friendly and helpful to us both. When the item we needed wasn't on the shelf, he quickly got the ladder out to check inventory storage on the top shelves and found it very quickly. Thing is, it wasn't even an expensive sale (under $10), but he treated us with the same respect and positive attitude you would give a customer spending hundreds or more. Thank you, Ken! read more

HELL to the YES on this place! For all of us that tangle with a bout or ten of OCD, this is the place to go-fo-sho! I love that you can really organize anything by going here. I love the, "Lazy Susans" because they have them made from bamboo/wood in ten inch sizes that fit nicely in a lot of the newer home's cabinetry (just the single level ones, not the doubles, though, so look closely)! I love the atmosphere! The staff is awesome! I have purchased and successfully utilized the sock keepers, which are rubber-like circular devices that you can loop your socks through so that you can both wash/dry them without losing any-it works! I have purchased fortune cookie boxes with bones on them for doggie gifts, collapsable cups for travel/outdoors, cool clear colored piggy banks so you can keep an eye on your change (joke but they are cool), apothecaries for travel (at the best prices plus, you can just get the ones that you need individually) drawer organizers/dividers, postal packaging (that was unique and fun, and less expensive than the post office, lol) and there really is SO MUCH MORE!! Even Oprah viewers were able to go online this summer and get 25% off Elfa (shelving) products here..... Yep, I am pushing up my glasses up my nose like the organized geek that I think I am right about now, but this place really is and inspiring an inexpensive way to get organized! I love this store! It is an organizer's paradise and I am an organizer! I also like that they try to make my life easy by allowing me to place my order online and then just drive up to pick it up. They will bring it to you! Can't get better than that! They also try to be helpful by ordering what you need when you need it. The only negative to this store is the location. Boy, it couldn't possibly be on a busier corner or in a smaller parking lot! The traffic in the area makes getting in and out difficult. And the parking lot is small and shared by many busy stores so prepare in advanced to be patient. read more
