I went between a 4 star and a 3 star review. I think what makes it a 3 star is that the prices just were a bit more than I imagined. If you can stomach that then... This place is like heaven for people who like to be organized. They have ideas for storage, containers, bins, space savers etc for every nook and cranny of your place. I ended up walking away with things / ideas for storage that I didn't even think I needed. Rightfully so, this place is super organized and not a thing seemed out of place. It seems as if kitchen and bathroom items are to the left when you walk in, items for your office is in the back, and then on the right side is a mixture of bedroom and closet items. There's a small clearance section as well but it's not that great. Parking lot is huge and its shared. I came on a Sunday midday and expected the store to be busy since there was hardly any parking but inside there were only a handful of people shopping. Accessible parking is available and the doors are motion sensored. The store is stairless. The workers weren't the greatest. Barely a greeting. Was going to ask one a question but it felt like they were making a B-line to the breakroom. read more

Went to do a curbside pick up order for these containers and received one that looks like it's been used with no stickers, scratches and dried up water marks. Unfortunately I live 20 minutes away so have to make another trip down there to exchange a used product for a new product. The store did apologize for the inconvenience but the person that packed the order shouldn't have given out a used product in the first place. read more

BUYER BEWARE: DON'T SHOP HERE!!!! I spent nearly $200 shopping at this store. Got home (30 miles away by the way) and opened the box and the items weren't even properly welded together so they couldn't be used. I contacted customer service or should I say "lack of customer service" and they told me the solution was I would need to get in my car and drive 60 miles round trip to return the item for a replacement. Not, so sorry sir, we will send you that piece properly welded together. Or we will send you a label to send the box back and send you a new one. Poorest excuse for customer service I have had in years. And ironically the person who helped me online, their title is Customer Solutions Specialist - what a joke!!! Now I have to spend money on gas, wear and tear on my SUV and spend my valuable time away from work and family to bring back this item. WON'T EVER SHOP HERE AGAIN. read more

We love the Container Store's Elfa closet system. We installed it in our old house about ten years ago and then recently purchased a new home and installed it in there as well. Then we had to add some additional pieces to our original design and also needed two other closets filled with Elfa closet shelving. Julie at the San Diego Container Store is AWESOME! Very helpful, and very knowledgeable on the Elfa closet designs system. And then more recently we added another system for our pantry but upon reflection, we decided we made the wrong choice in color. Mind you, this order was two weeks ago. So I took a shot and called back and talked to Rafael. Rafael was VERY helpful and pleasant getting the order changed, reviewed it and we added a couple of more items just for complete sake. I could not be more happy with doing these kinds of projects with the Container Store. I honestly come here for inspiration since everything is just overpriced, but will mosey on in for a purchase when there is a sale. Went to purchase some specific Elfa items and were approached by a friendly employee who helped explain the Elfa rail system/pieces you need to custom build whatever you want to build. She even went out of her way to find items not on the floor and showed us some extra add ons that improved the look of the system. I honestly don't think anyone had ever asked if I needed help in this store, but I appreciate a hands off shopping approach. Update- the sales associate, thought lovely! Grabbed our rails since she had trouble scanning then never handed them back. Went crazy thinking they were stolen but turns out we left without them. With she would have tried to follow up or call to inform. We were able to get a discount upon return for the error. read more

I will never return to this store, unless it's to return the items I just purchased. There was no customer service at all. No one assisted me in finding items. There were no carts to carry larger items. There was a line of about 15 customers and one check out lady (several staff milling about doing something else?). No support taking my 700$ worth of items to my car. Btw you can't take the carts outside so you have to individually carry all your items back and forth from the store to your car. It's been a nightmare. Avoid this location if at all possible. read more

I had a perfect PERFECT customer service experience in this store on the first shopping weekend of the season. Yah I know I'm asking for it by even attempting to navigate the parking lot and mall right after Thanksgiving-let alone try to pop in and grab something effortlessly. I looked online first hoping to locate the item I needed and then still required some help in store. Help was an absolute Angel with stunning Cerulean blue eye shadow. I was able to locate what I needed and grabbed one of the last two while the other was scooped up by another customer. The lovely Angel said it was an excellent product and proof was that they have never seen one returned by a Customer. I'm super happy with my purchase now that it's home in my kitchen. Amazing customer service and professionalism from Princess & Monica. I arrived Wednesday night to pickup my package in-store and was 4 minutes late. Waited for 15 minutes nobody handed my package. On Thursday, I received an email that someone picked up my package at 6:22pm. Then, Friday morning came to pickup the package. Princess worked very hard to locate my package with the help of Monica. Accessibility: they have wheelchair accessible parking across from the entrance of this building, also electric vehicle charging spots across from the entrance, and the doors are motion-activated, all of the store and parking lot being on the same ground level, no stairs anywhere. Experience: it looks fancy and very organized inside. The employees were not really that welcoming and I was getting a lot of stares as a young person just walking around looking at organizational things, but they have a lot of cool stuff that is helpful for your home. They have sections of the store labeled "kitchen," "office," etc. The only part I really wasn't a fan of was the prices...yikes. I'm not gonna lie when I come in here I want one of everything. It makes me want to start in my kitchen get those acrylic bins redo every cabinet including my refrigerator then go to my bedroom and then go to my bathroom. When it comes to perfumes I'm a hoarder and I love to smell good even when I'm sleeping lol ... I have a pretty nice collection and it has began to expand. So I've tried several different displays for my perfume in my bedroom and decided to buy an expandable spice rack in which I'm going to use it as a perfume display. When I put it together I'll definitely post a DYII picture. I found this handy dandy little caddy for my kitchen sink sponge that takes little to no space and the sponge is able to drain. I got a neat little duster that I can just throw in the wash machine when done with it and I got some storage bins. It's that time of the year where I'm trying to re-organize but I want to do it in a tasteful manner. This is the place to buy those things to do whatever it is that you want to do. From fancy shoe racks to something simple to shelves on the walls to decor anything you can possibly think of but their cabinet ideas for storage are endless. And the prices are fairly reasonable. It's comparable to that what you find on Amazon but you got to check it out in person. I have bought several clear acrylic items from here in the past and use them in my bathroom for my make up display and only one of them have cracked. My tip with that is to get some clear tape like milling tape and put it over the crack and it will not crack anymore. It's acrylic they crack. But some of the cheap ones are completely ruined.I think for what you get here is a lot better than what someone would get cheaper elsewhere. read more

After having dinner at PF Chang, I decided to walk over to the container store, which is in the same parking lot. I went in there because I'm looking for things to add to my home that is currently being remodeled. I came with the intentions of shopping and purchasing many items if I found what I was looking for, but I noticed there was a gentleman in a dress shirt and slacks I'm assuming the store manager that literally followed me around the store up and down the aisles Im going to assume the obvious because not that it should matter. I was dressed nicely. I'm a woman over 50 I had a handbasket in my hand for any little items that I may would find along the way, so there was no need for this man to continue to follow me up and down the aisles everywhere I went when the store was full of other people, but he insisted on following me so therefore not only did I not spend money in the store, but I will never go back to that store. I will not tolerate being treated this way at any establishment that think that there's going to get my money.shame on you container store!!!! read more

I had them bid on a custom closet organizer system. I was very happy with the process even though I ended up choosing another company. The designer / sales rep Agneta was very knowledgeable, responsive and helpful. The only thing I didn't like was that the initial quote offered a 35% discount but only if the order was made by a certain date, which always seems suspicious to me, but that date was too soon so I asked for a quote for the price if I missed the "special." Then the revised quote a week later was still at 35% discount. So maybe it is a sales tactic or maybe this great sales rep was able to maneuver a good price for me anyway. Either way, after I got quotes from other companies, I saw that without the discount it would not have been close but with the discount, it was a difficult decision and I would certainly consider them again for other jobs. read more

I surely agree with the reviewers that hate the parking at this Mission Valley store. I have a 8'.2" high Toyota camper that cannot park in the structure. I have to wander to the far reaches of the west parking lots to find a space to put my car, by the 8 fwy. I came today to their 30% Store-Wide Memorial Weekend sale, only to buy a wire spice rack for $10 instead of $14 (30% off) to hang at my range hood. but of course, wandering around for organizers and space savers for my Toy Camper that fits in a regular parking space, but has a whole house on it's chassis, I ended up spending about $125. See photo of my 1982 18 ft Toyota camper below. The staff are helpful and looked things up for me such as spice containers with magnetic lids that you stick on your range hood, which they did not have. The store is clean and "organized", as you would expect. Funny, I came across a stack of drawers 10 drawers in a frame on roller wheels for $42, that I just got for free from the neighbors trash bin set out on trash day last week. He had another smaller one I grabbed too. I would only come to Container Store during a storewide sale, because their merchandise is soooooo expensive! My three star review is not higher because of their super expensive prices. They have bins that cost $7.99 that you can get at Dollar Tree for $1.25. I think the 30% off sale is worth making a special trip for special application storage items you cannot find at Dollar Tree. That is how I ended up spending $125 for 6 items instead of $10.49 for one item. I have feelings of disbelief that I spent $23 on a long tall drawer for my kitchen pantry in order to store packages of Chinese dry vegetables so they stack in this narrow tall drawer, therefore save space. I also bought same for my little RV, which needs to be organized so you can carry your household items in such a small camper and live out of it. Container store will serve your needs. 5 years ago, I purchased an Elfa closet organizer at 30% off during Elfa Jan and Feb sale at the Phoenix Store. It was one of the best investments I ever made, and staff was very very knowledgeable in helping me select what racks and drawers would best serve my application. Cost about $350. My rating is lowered due to being followed in the store by a guy who was wondering the aisles with nothing in his hands, and he didn't have a cart. If this was an internal security employee, I would hope they take this review with some weight. I was shopping with my two daughters and he was always lurking around near them so I had them keep close to me until I left the store and explained to them what was happening. There I was wondering what the hell kind of stuff could be at the container store and lo and behold: containers! Lots and lots of containers. You can also buy shelf dividers, sponges, and random utensils in case you haven't blown over $100 satisfying the OCD freak in you. Hey! I guess you might be tempted to buy more crap to put into your containers! An employee from this store loaded the materials for an Elfa closet into my car carelessly, and without the proper wrapping. He damaged my car's computer by sliding the poles in there without any wrapping and the poles deeply scratched the computer in my car. I contacted the store's manager and she referred me to the insurer, Gallagher Bassett. After admitting the company were at fault for damaging my car, they proceeded to delay me from getting my car fixed for months, continuously asking for estimates and ignoring my calls and emails. When I finally got the car fixed, they refused to pay me out for the full balance of the damage, giving me the run around with the car dealership that fixed the $3000's worth of damage they caused to my car. It has been a nightmare coming here. I wish I had never gave them my business. I had bought three Elfa closets from here, but I deeply regret coming here, and would not recommend it to anyone. Note that if they damage your car in loading materials, their insurance will do everything they can to avoid fixing it. read more

I've had ELFA shelving for as long as I can remember. Yeah this was even before Home Depot and all of the big box companies made custom garage kits available for the every day consumer. But there's something about Elfa that sets it apart from everyone else. I've had the skeleton Elfa shelves for almost 15 years now and it is still as sturdy as anything brand new. Honestly, every time I move the garage and the shelving is the first thing to go up so that I can make room for anything and everything else.
