Wow. This place is gorgeous, and not to mention very well catered to. The bartender was superb and masterful at creating the Old Fashioned and the Dirty Martini. Ohhh THAT Dirty Martini was MEMORABLE... not made properly at many places cause you can't just use the olive juice from the actual olives bottle if that makes sense..But theirs, was just PERFECT. Also ordered a Steak Diane and it was to die for. Buttery soft and with a tasty gravy and perfect veggies and chips to match. You get what you pay for here, it's a "sit down and sip and talk" experience with the prices to match if you catch my drift..lol But it surely is a MUST to experience to see the Union Station from above and the decor. I met a group of girlfriends. Our first mistake was thinking we could have dinner. This is a lounge in the sense that they have 4 appetizers to choose from. The drinks were good, the view was amazing, and the seating was very comfy. Make sure to make a reservation as it is a small place with very limited seating. The food we did get was very good. Okay first things first, If you ever get the chance/ or are lucky enough not to be on the wait list, YOU WILL WANT TO SIT AT THE BAR!! The bar is where all the magic happens. We have consistently been coming to The Cooper a Lounge for a few months now and we always sit at the bar. They provide great service, expertly crafted cocktails, tasty snacks, and all in all most of the staff is pretty great! I do have to say that the super stars are the bartenders. You first have Q. He is our personal favorite. He is very entertaining, sophisticated and gives you a James Bond feeling. He will make you feel as if you are in a Great Gatsby movie! He is an older British guy that knows how to make a mean old fashion. Every time we come in he greets us and shakes our hand. Very classy. He was the first bartender to ever take care of us and we have never had a bad experience with him. He is very precise with his work and we just love him! When you visit, ask for Q and he will take very good care of you!! There is no one else like him out there so please pay him a visit! Next you have Luis. We think he is one of the newer bartenders but boy is he great. He is a younger Latino guy, very handsome and will make the girls go crazy. He is our favorite bartender to watch because he is incredibly fast and incorporates a bit of flair bartending! We have talked to him a few times and he is very charming and is very knowledgeable about the products. The most impressive thing is that HE IS ONLY 21! If you get the chance to talk to him, I definitely recommend having a chat with him, but beware of his charm... my wife cant stop talking about his smile when we are there! Next up is Shawn. He is also a fairly young guy but knows what he is doing. Gives out a very hipster vide but he is very friendly. We rarely see Shawn when we visit but when we do, it is always a great experience. We also see Shawn experimenting with drinks a lot and have even tested some of the drinks he has made and they have all been great. Shawn is definitely a mixologist and not just a bartender. The last bartender and the reason we gave this bar a 4 and not a 5 is Alex. She is the only female bartender and we would say their only weak link. Every time we are there, she is wearing skimpy outfits and always seems to have a bad attitude. The few times she has talked to us, she always comes off very rude and comes off very jaded. She also doesn't have the most drink or spirit knowledge. She definitely does not give the worst service, but she is definitely lacking in comparison to everyone else and everyone else just happen to be great. All in all we can overlook this because everything else is so great! They serve your drink on a silver plater for gods sakes! What more do you want? I definitely recommend visiting! read more

We got their, the rude condescending hostess informed us we could just walk in and sit at the bar, although 2 seats were open and at least 10 more in surrounding area. We went on a 30 min wait list which turned out to be 1.5 hours. The service is pretty off-putting, every appears to be patronizing and condescending. I feel like I am in SF again. Beautiful bar and ambiance but that's about it. The experience was so over the top bad, it's hard to appreciate anything else good about the place. To start, there was a mix-up with the reservation. The event planner reserved a table for 10 people at 6pm and then was supposed to have a second reservation at 8pm, not exactly sure what the Cooper Lounge had on their books but they were very confused. So when my girlfriend and I arrived to be seated at the start of the night, the host on the 1st floor took 5 minutes to find the reservation. We got into the elevator to heads up to the lounge, which was 5 feet from the host , kept pressing a buttons, went nowhere, to learn after the fact from the same host that we needed to be a hotel guest with a key card to use the elevator. Really? Once we sat down at our table, it took at least 10 minutes for the server to come over to us and ask what we wanted and it took another 15 minutes to get our drinks, the place was 25% full at best. The explanation that their cocktails are crafted with "12 touch points" needs to be changed if it takes 15 minutes to get a drink. This was a meetup event attended by a mature group of people who didn't know each other and who came and went at different times over the course of the night. After about an hour, one of the women asked to close out her tab and the server put ALL the drinks on this one person's tab. The server didn't offer to void the transaction and didn't ask us when we arrived if it would be separate tabs. Then we started to get pressure to vacate the table, supposedly there was a 90 minute time limit for a table. Our party of 10 each ordered at least 2 drinks each at $16- $20/ drink, we were drinking the entire time, the place was probably 50% full so there were plenty of empty tables and yet several times we were told we needed to leave. I complained to the manager and she did the right thing by comping us a round of drinks, kudos to her, but the aggravation persisted. The servers and bar staff are really not to blame, it's the policies of the Cooper Lounge and The Crawford Hotel. Needless to say, I will never return. read more

This place was ok. I really wanted to like it more. I just felt like it didn't quite live up to expectations. It was my first time going here. I made a reservation as soon as I heard they were opening up again because I have been wanting to try it. The first issue was that my friend and I were seated in a high top table overlooking the station. I didn't like how tiny the table was and was really hoping for the lounge type seating. I didn't complain about that, but if I had seen that amount of small tables in pictures before booking then I would have requested different seating. The service wasn't exactly great for the price. It just seemed like they didn't really care much. The servers weren't particularly rude, they just seemed indifferent. I wore a nice cocktail dress with heels and felt so out of place. I just thought people would at least be wearing slacks and decent shirts. Not the jeans, flannels and metal band hoodie that I saw. A little disappointed in how extremely casual a $250 cocktail excursion was. Maybe that's just something I should get used to in Colorado though. Not sure. The drinks were amazing of course, as were the appetizers and desserts. I feel like the food and drinks is what saved this place. I may eventually give it another try at some point in the future. After 30 minutes I went back to check on our seats and was told it would be an additional 1 hour and 15 minutes. I don't even have any idea how any wait system software can be so immaculate. Came with some friends for a happy hour last Friday and we were all enchanted by the atmosphere (glittering lights, candles, a towering tree, lush greens, etc) and the thoughtful details (All of the drinks a re served on a silver tray and are accompanied by nuts). Cooper Lounge is also a decor gem in its own right, with a nice transitional style (traditional bound books mingle with touches of lucite and white leather couches pair stylishly with period style lamps). And, you can't beat the people watching. If you're looking for a good cocktail, this is a great place for one. Their drink menu isn't as deep as Williams & Graham or Green Russell, but it is a strong list. The drinks are on the pricier side, but as with the Yellow Chartreuse VEP cocktail I enjoyed, the ingredients are high-quality. They have a few bites available to eat. I looooove this place. It's ridiculous how much I love it. It is kind of a contemporary speak easy, bc it's hard to find. You have to know it's there then figure out how to get up there. It is a pricy place. The cocktail portions are not huge. They use the old-fashioned martini glasses, which I am certain are smaller than new ones. No draft beer, just bottles - like 6 or 7 bucks. The cocktails are handmade, and served in a swank environment, with your special little tin of nuts. It's an experience. Ok - I gotta say, this place boasts high class and a luxury experience but we had an excuse-filled school in amateurism. First of all, the cocktails are very mediocre and are way overpriced. Second of all, we made reservations for a small birthday party (7 people) and this is how it went down: 1) ordered standard cocktails and some finger foods. 2) finger foods were served. They were nice but very pricey. 3) finger foods were finished AND STILL NO COCKTAILS 4) we literally ate multiple plates of snacks without getting served any of our cocktails. It was not busy, we didn't order anything crazy - unacceptable. 5) finally got drinks. Overpriced and mediocre. 6) never had enough booze, the right type of glass, screwed up orders, etc... - every time the server came to the table, there was something wrong. When you pay 18$ per cocktail for this type of service, it's laughable. 7) they knew we were celebrating a birthday and didn't offer any compensation for the absolute garbage experience and service and there was no special birthday callout or experience. 8) don't go here. This place was completely empty on a recent Sunday afternoon. I was expecting a lively fun atmosphere. Considering, that we were in Union Station at 4:30 on a gorgeous warm and sunny day, I was shocked at how empty this place was. Union Station was packed. The atmosphere was pretty but it was very boring inside, and there was only one couple at the bar, and about two other couples seated in a booths. It appears to simply be a upscale bar that perhaps the hotel guests are having a drink before heading out for some real fun. We sat at the bar, and ordered two cocktails. They have a lengthy cocktail menu. Each of our cocktails were $18. All of their cocktails are in this price range or more. My drink was a zombie, and despite the stated two drink minimum, our drinks had more ice that any liquid. They work on the presentation of the drink more than serving the amount of alcohol that should be served in these high priced cocktails. I could not taste any alcohol but only fruit juice and heavily loaded ice. I asked for a printed receipt, and I later looked at it after we left. I noticed that this establishment now charges an additional 8% for the new "Creating Happy People Fee". Perhaps, when over inflating the drink prices,the restaurant/bar could charge less, and make it more affordable for people to enjoy a drink. For the prices these establishments are charging, they can help the employees with their wages, instead of passing it on to the customers. If you add a 8% fee, to a 20% tip, you are now paying a hefty amount of money on top of your tab!Happy Camper, has a way better vibe, and larger lively crowds. One of the best spots in Denver! I came here initially to meet colleagues for drinks after work and it was perfect. Great atmosphere and even better drinks. I would highly recommend for business drinks. I came here again after I decided to stay at the Crawford Hotel for business. It's just a really nice spot with a great view from the third floor in Union Station. Staff is super helpful and friendly and the food and drink is delicious. If you can't decide on a drink, just tell them what you like and they'll create you a cocktail. If you aren't staying at the hotel you have to enter on the first floor of Union Station through a hostess. Two things about this 1) she/he really really controls how many people go up to the bar which is annoying if you have to wait, but really excellent because this place is never absolutely packed and 2) (and this is my only suggestion for improvement) the hostess should dress better. The atmosphere is really classy, not pretentious, just a little more upscale. The hostess when I came was wearing a dirty white north face fleece. Just doesn't really jive with the rest of the ambience. Overall an amazing spot to grab a drink or a quick bite. Love this place and love that if you stay at the hotel you can just walk right in.
